A Greek family. An Indian family. A summer wedding on the Aegean coast… seduce the dreamy Nikos Manolas, and survive two weeks at sea with her oddball family.
The only obstacle Moti doesn’t see coming is Alexandros Veronis, the onboard chef and star witness to her awkward mishaps. He transforms onions into chocolate and aroma into nostalgia. Day by day, his alchemy works its magic on Moti. But she’s not the only one falling under his spell. Everyone has a secret, growing round and ripe at Chef Alex’s table. When the masks fall off, they spill out one by one, and everything blows up in their faces.
Now Moti’s truth is exposed, and worse, she’s hooked on more than Alex’s midnight snacks. But this time, screwing up could be the best thing she’s ever done…
A standalone romantic comedy about family, love, and self-discovery.

3 “thumbs” up!
This may be the feel good read of the summer for me because I was all smiles while reading it! I have to admit, when I heard this was a rom com, I thought “Leylah Attar wrote a rom com?” cause you know, I’m used to emotional and intense reads from her, but she did, she really did it!
Moti has been going through life trying to do one thing…live up to her natal prediction given to her mother at birth, which admittedly means she hasn’t really been living, she’s just been trying to please her overly superstitious mother. When her cousin’s fiance takes the family on a cruise around the Greek Isles leading up to their impending nuptials, the stars finally seem to align for Moti as the best man seems to fit the description of her soul mate. What ensues is a love story but not in the manner that you’re thinking.
What a cast of characters! I loved them all because they all had a purpose in the story. The mixing of Greek and Indian heritage was fascinating and entertaining…tie that in with the role food played in the story and it was just a really fun, well done read. Enjoyed it immensely and it made me want to visit Santorini even more than I already did.
Man, once again Leylah has transported me to another world, this time aboard a luxury yacht traveling around Greece. Moti – pronounced “Mo-thi” is our heroine, and I absolutely loved how Leylah made her into a woman that I could totally relate to. Both Moti and Alex are amazingly refreshing characters, and the dynamic between them was rolled out perfectly by Leylah. Their relationship unfolded slowly over time and I wanted nothing more than for these two people to find a happily ever after.
I had no idea that Leylah had such a funny side! The catastrophes that happen Moti, the hilarious family antics that occur, I laughed so much throughout this book! I loved all the secondary characters, most especially Naani. I wish I had a Naani in my life.
Even though this book is pretty darn funny, Leylah still brings us a multilayered story that addresses some heavy topics, like feeling invisible in your own family, being afraid to stretch past your comfort zone, and doing what is expected of you, instead of doing what your heart is telling you to do.
Looks can often be deceiving and I marveled at how Leylah strings together each character’s secrets and ultimately reveals them in an almost comical but also profound way that shifts the family dynamics a bit.
On top of everything happening, we are practically tortured with reading about the fabulous foods that Alex prepares on the ship. Never have I been in a constant state of hunger while reading a book before as I have been with this one! Leylah was making me have foodgasms left and right, drooling over the smells and tastes elaborately described throughout the story. And to top it off, her descriptions of all the destinations the yacht stopped at along the way has made we want to drop everything and travel to Greece to see it all for myself.
What a perfect read this was!! I laughed, I cried happy tears, I marveled at the sights, sounds and smells. I felt like a fly on the wall, observing these two families come together and Moti and Alex find their way to each other. Definitely a book I will reread over and over again!
Moti On The Water is light and refreshing, so beautiful and unique, with lots of quirky fun that had me giggling and smiling, it is overflowing with the true meaning of love- love of yourself, of family, of life, and of course the magical soul binding love you find in that special someone meant to hold your heart. A wonderful journey of realizing how to truly live and listen to your own heart!!!!
I’m a small town girl who has barely ventured outside her home state, yet Author Leylah Attar with her incredible descriptive writing skills has transported me across the ocean on the most beautiful and fun adventure! I was traveling alongside the beautiful and quirky Moti and her zany family and there was never a dull moment, the gorgeous surroundings were stunning and felt magical, and add the exquisite food created by Alex the sexy/swoony chef that had my mouth watering for things I’d never dream of eating LOL, ……. It was a yummy, bubbly, tingly, delicious treat that should be on every reader’s reading menu (TBR of course)!!!!
I give all the STARS and HEART EYES for Moti On The Water!!!!!
THE MUST READ OF THE SUMMER
Moti is a quirky, fun, obedient daughter, someone you can depend on, hilarious without really trying and in search of her soulmate. But finding her soulmate is not an easy task though, her future mate must have something extra in his hand. Will she be able to find him aboard the luxurious yacht?
Moti On The Water was enjoyable from beginning to end. I was surprised by how funny this book is. The development of the two main characters as they go from strangers who can’t stand one another to friends to lovers is an entertaining journey. The pacing was great and the writing style was awesome.
A story by Ms. Attar always gives me an amazing reading experience. Her characters are like no other. They have this unique personality that’s hard to forget. I loved this book and I definitely recommend reading it. I know I will be doing a re-read in the not so distant future!
This is an original 4 star story that was funny and full of secrets.
Moti is on a ship for a wedding. She’s been told all her life that she must marry a man with 3 thumbs. She does meet him but is he the one?
It was funny at times with characters that were unique. Twist and turns that were surprising. A very creative story.
Standalone told in mostly’s Moti POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.
D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!!
The best way to enjoy this book is by going in blindly!
A top read of 2019 and a perfect summer read!
Like a good meal, I sat and I relished every word, and I came away feeling completely satisfied and feeling like I ate the best meal and it was all zero calories!!
Heartfelt and lighthearted, this quirky and hilarious story was a refreshing look at cultural traditions blended with family drama.
However unlike other lighthearted reads, this one was rich and complex in every way. Flawlessly written, smart and thought provoking. This story reminded me that regardless of how different we are in our cultural differences, the more we are alike.
The characters were perfectly imperfect! They were eccentric and a little neurotic. Loud and proud adding humor and a deep sense of family loyalty to the story.
Moti and Alex’s story was a unique romance of opposites attracting.
Moti’s was a young professional tethered to her family’s traditions and spiritual beliefs even if they were out of this world far fetched. She meets Alex during a family trip/wedding. Alex was a true alpha Greek god, handsome, broodie and the wedding chef.
A series of unfortunate and hilarious events throws them together and they discover they have more in common than good food.
Two people from different cultures and different parts of the world, discover they have more in common than they ever imagined.
When I finished this story I was left feeling so good , but there were valuable lessons about love, family and self discovery!
This is the kind of story that I see reading and re-reading multiple times and discovering new developments every time.
Moti is worthy of all the stars in the sky!
I loved this beautiful love story and I can’t recommend it enough.
This book was such a pleasure to read! I laughed, I gasped , I cried a little but then it all went the way it was supposed to and I felt joy!
I was enthralled by the way Ms. Attar so intricately wove a colorful and savory tale that had me appreciating the diversity and cultures in this beautiful tapestry of a story. I savored every word! (pun intended)
I loved Alex and how insightful and sweet he was. He saw the real Moti even before she admitted things to herself.
Moti is now one of my favorite heroines, I loved her! She evolved so beautifully and fully that I found myself relating to her and rooting for her throughout the whole story!
Leylah Attar has written a unique and captivating story that I highly recommend!!
Rated 4.5 Stars
Moti On The Water is a delightful, sweet, funny, cute and sexy read that had emotionally invested in it from the beginning. I loved that it’s also part ode to Greece, from the various locales to the food it highlighted, I fell a little bit deeper in love with this country.
The heroine is quirky, relatable and so lovable. The hero is swoon-worthy, I loved that he saw her, the real from the get go. I adored them together and felt that they complemented each other well.
I truly enjoyed this story, the highs and lows, ups and downs and surprises in between. I highly recommend it.

I have been a huge fan of Leylah Attar since The Paper Swan and could not wait to read more of her amazing words. The minute I read the blurb and title for Moti on the Water I was sold! Being a second generation Indian American, I was definitely in love with the story as it resonated closely with so many things in my own life. It felt like it could be my family they were talking about. The family dynamics and the overbearing pressure of family obligations and feelings of restriction. Moti was a soul sister that I could not get enough of. I teared up and also hysterically laughed at her antics and swooned at her connection with Alex. I loved every second and could not stop reading until the last page!
This story was phenomenal. I felt like Attar gave the story life in the beautiful way she described the flavors of the food, the complicated dynamics of Moti and her family and with the connection she had with Alex. Her words painted a visual feast for my senses. Alex was just delicious. Sexy, kind and a sweetheart. The man who knew what Moti needed even before she did. I loved this story and am so hooked on more from this author in the future! 5 stars! ~Ratula
Moti on the Water is a totally different side of Leylah Attar’s writing. I love, love, love her novels so I didn’t even read the synopsis so it was so unexpected. Yes. Her main characters are strong women. Strong women who are figuring out their paths but this one is different. It’s hilarious! So fucking hilarious while the other were either dark or more serious. It showed me another side of Leylah and it was brilliant.
Moti loves her mother, she really does but she is a bit crazy too. Her whole family is. Throw a few Greeks in with her Indian family and you have a party. A wedding party aboard a luxury yacht in the Greek Isles for two weeks. Moti was both nervous and excited about his adventure. She had been preparing for months. Ever since she met Nikos, the best man aka her soul mate at the engagement party. She had two weeks to show him that they belonged together. That they were written in the stars. Nothing was going to get in her way. That was until she met the ship’s chef, Alexandros.
Her was always there. Alex was everywhere. At every misstep. At every choking. At every turn. And even in her new living quarters. She couldn’t get away from him but she kind of liked it. He made her laugh. Made her see things others didn’t. He even wanted to teach her how to swim. He was unexpected. She was not supposed to like him. She was there to fall for Nikos. He was the one her mother approved of. She was not supposed to enjoy Alex so much. His food must have put her under a spell.
Will Moti fall for the one who is written in the stars or the one she looks at the stars with?
I absolutely loved this book! It is full of passion, sweetness, angst, food, craziness, and laughter. It was also full of family, love, and the unexpected. I enjoyed every minute of it. The characters felt so real. I was addicted from beginning to end.
Quotes:
My life was chapter after chapter of awkward, embarrassing scenes, but did this jerk have to stand there, witnessing them all?
Despite Ma Anga’s prophecy, I wasn’t afraid of dying. I was afraid of dying without living.
“Fucking Santorini sunsets. How’s a guy supposed to compete?” His grin was playful as he unrolled a towel from his backpack.
Three Thumbs up! ** spoiler alert ** Well, this is very different than Leylah Attar’s usual style of poetic writing, it’s a romantic comedy about an Indian woman’s wedding to a Greek tycoon son, on the Aegean coast. The comedies of errors start with the Maid of Honor, Moti Ferreira, cousin of the bride always getting into situations, clumsy with the ability to stick her foot in her mouth while coughing and tripping, not everyone is this talent. Moti’s mother Dolly, an eccentric woman, told her daughter that her soul mate is a man with three thumbs, this coming from a very wise old woman called Ma Anga who interpret Moti’s natal chart on the day she was born. The story starts and ends with laugh out loud scenarios that will keep you smiling, laughing, and shaking your head, while you read the very latest from the master Leylah Attar!
This book is extra special to me cause *Ahem* I’m IN the book. It’s a miniscule little line in the background but whatever!.
I’m.In.The.Book!! And I’ve found my soul mate- Prem Prakash Pyaarelal
Adorable, magical and serendipitous, this story will make you a believer in Fated Love
Leylah took me to Greece, the Azure waters of the Aegean and picturesque towns of Santorini, Hydra, Naousa, Folegandros…
Leylah has deviated a little from her angst and slow burn romance to give us this Hilarious and rib tickling Rom-com. Beautiful story about a girl who on her quest for perfect soul mate, finds love at unexpected place with the seemingly wrong person. I’ve never jumped so fast on a book and read in record time cause I couldn’t put it down. Heart touching and soulful, mystical and magical, this story will definitely Leave it’s permanent mark on you. Characters that will become yours and stay that way, you’ll become an active participant and get invested in their lives.
Entertainment, thy name is Moti (with a soft T)
She’s epitome of clumsiness and dignity, she’s spunky, spirited and ferocious (only she doesn’t know it yet) and she’s every girl who wants to be loyally grounded to her family while her heart wants to fly like a kite. I’m so in love with you Moti
It’s a breath of fresh air to come across such a vulnerable and spunky heroine, very REAL in her dilemmas and insecurities. I bet every reader will identify with her at some point or another. She is a spectator in life, watching the parade of love and adventure go by, Waiting for her own time in the sun. She’s pure of heart, beautiful, loyal, generous and too much taken for granted by everyone in her family
“She was a comma among the characters of her family—unnoticed and overlooked.”
She’s been programmed into an obedient daughter to the point of submission of her heart into negation.
There’s slapstick humor which is spot on in describing Greek and Indian Families. The wedding incidents, the lingo, the auntyjis and Naani and their beliefs,…Omg it was like reading about MY FAMILY
There’s a wedding happening and everything that could go wrong, does go wrong, which sets the stage for some outrageous mishaps and accidents cause Moti is nothing if not a Klutz
I died laughing. Legit out-of-breath, tears running down my face with laughter so hard, I damn near scared my neighbours, But fear not, Leylah has put a lot of heart in it too. So many feels,I swooned, I laughed, I teared up, I sighed, I fell in love and I acquiesced to Epicurean Gods.
I loved how Leylah as perfectly amalgamated the power of love and power of food. It’s a culinary and romantic delight to read this fabulous story
Bite by bite makes a meal. Moment by moment makes a life.
Life is to be savored, as is food. the essence is in enjoying what your heart wants, living in every moment.
Food plays an important part in bringing the emotions up to a boil so the characters ultimately break out of their plastic veneer and become real. It’s magic unshackles their real true selves.
“Every time you share a meal with someone, you bring your history, your country, your region, your religion, your tribe, your grandmother with you. You sit with your past, your opinions, your love, your curiosity, your resentments, your hospitality. Food is where we all intersect. Everywhere you go, anywhere you go.”
Alex was swoon-worthy, humane chef on the ship and one dimpled smile of his and I was ready to fall on my knees and lick his fingers…I swear, I would!!! He’s not a chef, he’s a magician, casting a spell on everybody with his charm and mad skills in the kitchen
I loved the trio of Mom-Aunt-grandma circling sound Moti, breathing down her neck
The pressures it puts on her, tears apart her heart.
“Nikos was the litmus test. A living, breathing, quantifiable yard-stick Dolly was measuring me by—my love, my loyalty, my worth as a daughter.”
I loved the nobility of Uncle Joseph and George, the perfect alpha handsome stature of Nikos, but my heart just fell on Alexandros feet. His meditative culinary skills and his uncanny ability to SEE the people for what they are, I was bowled over!!
I’m besotted and enraptured and drooling over this delicious story that should be a MUST-READ for everybody
take your time though, enjoy the words, let emotions wash over you. Fall in love under a Starlit sky with Alex and Nikos, laugh with Dolly, Rachel, FIA, Isabelle and Naani, who is a hooooot
Wise and witty she’s the voice of reason and chutzpah.
Siga-Siga, Dheere-Dheere,Slowly Slowly
Enjoy this book and come laugh with me
5 stars for Men who pluck Stars instead of flowers
MOTI ON THE WATER is the first Leylah Attar book I’ve read, and what a delight it was!
Poor Moti. Her life is definitely not carefree. Not only is her life driven by the prophecies of a clairvoyant her mother consulted at her birth, she is always expected to step up and help her family members. And if all that external pressure is not enough, Moti herself is somewhat awkward and clumsy, leading to some moments that are funny for readers but mortifying for Moti.
During the course of a holiday on a private yacht charter, we see the comical and outrageous actions of people forced to spend a length of time in proximity. And off to the side is Alex, the onboard chef whose meals are a revelation to Moti. She not only falls in love with the food, her attraction to Alex is immediate and somewhat inconvenient. He really is not what the clairvoyant foresaw… And if you’re worried about a love triangle, don’t be. It’s clear Alex and Moti only have eyes for each other.
Apart from Moti and Alex, Naani, Moti’s grandmother was my favourite character. She is the kind of grandmother with great wisdom that comes from experience. She is quiet for the most part, yet is not afraid to make her thoughts known when necessary.
Oh, and I have to mention the location! The Aegean coast and a number of Greek islands provide a gorgeous background. Attar does a great job in describing the surroundings and they play a part in this well told story.
There’s something for everyone in this book; romance, adventure, humour, and more. I highly recommend it.
Leylah Attar is one of my favorite authors, so I always look forward to her next release. We had to wait two years this time, but I’d pick quality over quantity any time. I am more used to her dark or emotional reads, so I was excited to see how she would do with a more light and fun book. I have to say that she did a great job with this ultimate summer read. This book was fun, original, intriguing, and romantic. I was smiling from start til finish, and couldn’t believe all the things that the main character Moti had to go through. Her family is crazy and quirky, and I loved it. The setting of the book was beautiful, and Leylah has convinced me to visit Greece in the future. One of my favorite moments in this book was when Moti and Alex first met, it was unconventional and I loved that. Alex was so swoon-worthy. Come on who wouldn’t want a hot guy who has a great sense of humor and can cook? Moti thought she had it all figured out when she set her mind on seducing Nikos, but she wasn’t ready for Alex coming in and sweeping her of her feet.
Moti on the Water is the ideal summer read that will have you smiling and laughing out loud. It was also heartwarming, sweet and sexy. This isn’t just a romance novel, it is also a book about family and how you always have each other’s backs when needed. Moti’s character development was amazing, she really transformed and I loved that I was able to witness that. I do want to mention that I absolutely loved the farewell dinner scene, it was so awesome and one of my favorite in the book. So many secrets were unleashed during that scene that I just couldn’t keep up, and it was hilarious. I recommend this book to anyone who is in the mood for a more fun and light contemporary romance. I enjoyed this book a lot and I really hope that Leylah Attar will write more books like this one.
If you only know Leylah Attar from Mists of the Serengeti, you might be a wee bit surprised by Moti on the Water. Is there angst? A little, yes. Is there emotional devastation? Not in the least.
What Moti on the Water is, dear readers, is a romantic comedy.
A ROMANTIC COMEDY.
You will laugh out loud over some of the hijinks that befall Moti (pronounced with a soft “t” sound, more like “Mothi” than “Moti”, which is an important distinction to make because Moti with a hard “t” means “fat”). You will love her, and you will want to hang out with her because you know you’d have a good time. Moti is delightful in every sense.
She’s also single, and her mother worries that, thanks to a fortune teller, Moti will marry the wrong man, and, in doing so, bring about her mother’s death. According to the fortune teller, Moti will marry a very specific kind of man in a somewhat specific location. So when she actually does meet a guy with this very specific quality, you assume, naturally, that she has found her soulmate. And maybe she has.
Moti also meets another man, and this one poses a bit of a challenge. Because he is a chef and she a guest on a two-week yacht trip, they shouldn’t be together. But the chef tempts her, and not just with his delicious food.
Moti’s family will make you laugh and scream with frustration, much as they do her. There are a couple of subplots going on in this book, and Leylah Attar weaves them together to keep you fully invested in everyone’s stories. The heart of the book, though, is the romance. Moti learns to love, and she learns to accept love in return. She learns to trust herself where love is concerned, and it is so much fun to read.
I loved this book. Hit up the comments and let me know your thoughts.
This latest offering by Leylah is quite different from her usual style but is also the most entertaining and hilarious read I have had for a long time.
Moti Ferreira at twenty four is still single and has not met her soul mate yet. She was raised to believe that that man has three thumbs and has to marry him or else something bad will happen. Moti’s mother is a control freak/drama queen and all she does is try to remind Moti of her duty to marry the right man. When Moti becomes the maid of honour at her cousin Isabelle’s wedding and finds out that the best man Nikos looks like her perfect match along comes Alex the chef who creates the most delectable mouth-watering dishes she ever tasted and he is as tasty as his creations too. What’s not to like eh but what about Nikos who is supposed to be the one written in the stars for Moti?
“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it. And when you do, you want to pause it and relish it forever.”
Written in Moti’s point of view, this colourful tapestry of Greek and Indian cultures combined make this book the perfect summer holiday read. Light-hearted with flirty funny banters, mishaps galore and characters that will make you laugh and cry, Alex and Moti’s story is a breath of fresh air from the dark and dramatic books I have read lately. This very well written book not only successfully combines the drama in family relationships but also gives you a deeper insight into Greek and Indian culture. Although this is meant to be light-hearted there are some moments between mother and daughter, sister and sister, husband and wife, cousin and cousin dialogues that touched me deeply. I couldn’t have asked for a more well-balanced storyline that not only entertains but is also informative, a story that makes you giggle and cry happy tears. I highly recommend this book!
Minutes into Moti on the Water and I was laughing so much I could hardly breathe! And there’s no let-up. It’s a constant, making this welcome offering a book you truly need to read. Attar has proved to be an extremely versatile writer. Painfully funny one-liners, snappy comebacks and her shedding insight into Indian culture with flair, I found beyond refreshing. There’s no doubt her straying away from suspenseful romantic fiction has worked to a tee but that being said, she still kept this reader guessing what calamities were around the corner and what would be the outcome of them.
Every unimaginable scenario happens when a Greek family get together with Moti’s folk, becoming a challenge for this adorable lass in more ways than one! Throw a luxurious cruise into the mix set in the crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea, and what you’ve got is a story that’s impossible to put down. This read spoilt me to bits. Having travelled to the islands where they went brought back many happy memories. And the mealtimes. Goodness me, I laughed until I cried. The fish heads, eyes and tails…deary me, I live on a Mediterranean island, so seeing dishes like Moti had in front of her isn’t new for me. But to her horror, they were there staring her in the face!
‘You can serve it, Chef Alexandros, but I don’t have to eat it.’
I can only describe Moti as a beautiful walking disaster. If it’s going to happen to someone, it’s her on the receiving end all-the-damn-time! Her lack of confidence doesn’t stop her though. Totally blaming her mum, Dolly who she’s taking care of for putting her down, I’d have loved to tell this whimsical woman to take a good look at her amazing daughter’s qualities. On the other hand, Naani, Moti’s grandmother, is lovely. You’ll see why I thought she had no idea what was going on around her but don’t be fooled, her cognitive skills are sharper than mine and that’s saying something!
“Your turn will come too. And when it does, don’t listen to anything but your heart.”
Moti had already met Nikos, her cousin’s future husband’s best man at a pre-wedding do and over the moon that he’s onboard. Now here’s a character and a half. Flirtatious, wealthy and rockin’ a hot bod to boot; more importantly, he’s fancy-free. Not surprisingly, he caught Moti’s attention straight away! Was this the only reason she was attracted to him? Ahh, just wait and see…I nearly choked with laughter when it was pointed out. This guy worried me and seeing as Moti has an innocence about her, I prayed she wasn’t going to be another notch on his bedpost.
“You and I are going to have a lot of fun on this trip,”
Alex. Chef extraordinaire, the alchemist of everything food, the guy with the man bun is flippin’ gorgeous and about to titillate Moti’s taste buds with his cuisine. How else are his sauces…oops, I meant his sorcery of delights going to affect Moti, you may ask? Not telling but do get ready for mouthwatering recipes that’ll probably have you wiping dribble on your sleeves. Okay, so I fell hard for him. That blinkin’ eyebrow he kept lifting while observing Moti simply got the better of me. And, to top the lot, he’s a really delightful person even if he rubbed Moti up the wrong way most of the time.
‘It’s your fault, Alex. Your cooking is messing with our brains.’
Now then, there is nothing, I mean nothing like a good shocker or two to get you all worked up. Well, when you know what hits the fan, I was like, ‘what the freakin’ heck!’ Secrets were hidden so well that I’m still reeling from the effect of what would change the entire feel of the story.
‘I wanted to shield Moti from the entire world, to keep her safe and happy and carefree.’.
Joseph uncle. Out of all Moti’s relations, I had a soft spot for him and don’t get me wrong because they’ve all got something special character-wise. I honestly felt sorry for the poor man but was so pleased to see him put his foot down when he did. Nonetheless, this is Moti’s story through and through. Yes, the families are entangled, and yes, I slept well after working out the meaning of their lives.
“The stars weren’t the same without you tonight.”
Attar’s delivered a flawless first-person narrative in past tense and brilliantly developed personality traits for all the players’ perfect imperfections and by the way, the ship ahoy vocabulary is spot on.
‘No gangway or footbridge to board this baby. Never in my life had I played it so cool while simultaneously freaking out.’
This romance is so addictive it should come with a ‘hold onto your emotions’ warning. And get this! The sweet cherry topping I never expected and what made my day was when Alex stepped in and told it from his point of view towards the end. So, five stars it is, but this rating seems so mean when my enjoyment was a ten out of ten! From now on, I will never underestimate the powers of a starfish, the powers of forgiveness, or the powers of love. Bravo!
“…And my name is not Mo-te,” I said to the rest of them. “It’s Mo-thi.”.
I read this book in one sitting! All I can say is this author has magical words that know how to suck in her readers! Unique, adorable, funny, and heartening, this book will have you shouting and laughing! Full of family drama that made me laugh and feel that made me sad, this a book that you must read! Such a fantastic summer read, I am ready for my own trip on the water!
5 Moment by Moment Stars!!!
I absolutely LOVE every book I’ve read by this author. This book is everything and more. A journey we go on while reading this author’s words, as the words come to life as we are sitting right there watching everything unfold.
Moti is every girl growing up. The one who listens to her elders, respects them and will do everything that anyone asks of her. Jinxed from the day she was born; she has carried a heavy load on her back.
I want to be one of those lights—somewhere by the water, where people can eat and share and connect. I want to be a link in a story that is as old as time.
This is a fantastic book that you can’t put down once you start. Full of family members that we all have. Doesn’t matter what your heritage is, family is family and they are all alike! Read this one and go on a journey that will stick with you. I’m ready to go to Greece now!!
