It’s only a matter of time before she ends the hunt. Part human, part drackan, Keelin E’Kahlyn has made it halfway across the land, hunting down the human traitor controlling her blackouts for as long as she can remember. By her side stands Rokien of Asread, the rogue who echoes hints of Keelin’s past—the only other who rivals her in skill and instinct. And he has no idea they’re hunting the same … has no idea they’re hunting the same man.
For too long, Brijer’s Steward has escaped Keelin’s grasp, only to string her along like a pet, leaving a trail of destruction, death, and hopelessness in his wake. And now, Menykh has found a way to control far more than the human fledgling who seeks him out for vengeance. He controls an army of drackans, biding his time to unleash them upon Asread and the Free Lands.
Through the Forgotten Lands and the iron forest, with aid from ancient tribes and the drackan Guardians themselves, Keelin’s only hope lies in making it to Ydtha-Adin—seat of the drackan gods. But her choices haunt her, her bloodlust betrays her, and the products of her bond with both drackans and humans might just be the only thing standing in her way.

Keelin never wanted the bloodshed she has on her hands, but she has been controlled by a man (Menykh) who desired many men killed (to gain power for himself). She hopes to kill him and win back her freedom. Keelin crosses paths with Rokien, and by the time she figures out who he is, he is closer to her than is comfortable. Keelin has many secrets, can she keep them from Rokien? I enjoyed this emotional ride, you might need to grab the tissue box (for there might be tears shed).

I loved this book. There was so much action, it took my breath away. I was truly sad Keelin felt suicide to be her only way out. This is a magnificent story that can be read by everyone. Highly recommended.

Great story with a shocking ending!
This was one hell of a rollercoaster ride. My emotions were all over the place. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading this book.
The storytelling is vivid and the characters are fantastic. This is a dark fantasy, which means there will be times that you will be shocked by events in the story and delve into darkness that will leave you breathless.
A conclusion to this duet that is worth reading.
The second book in the series finds Keelin searching and finding Menykh who has been controlling her for his own evil deeds. Rokien of Asread has joined in her search not knowing that they are searching for the same person and ignorant of his own descendants. The ending is a real tear jerker. The descriptions are detailed and vivid. The characters are well developed.

Keelin is back and searching for answers and the man behind her blackouts. It was interesting and engaging to read to see what would happen next and what Keelin would find in her journey. And the ending was not what I expected. But the story leading up to the ending was well written and kept me reading to see what was around the corner.
It’s a must you read book 1 before starting this book, shoutout to my friend, Mary, for lending me book 1. I am unashamedly full of giddiness here. This book answers a lot of questions and brings the story to a close…or does it? I’m just playing on that part, but the story COULD continue if the author saw fit. I thought it was very masterful in the way this book ended. Wasn’t expecting that…exactly. Some stories have happily ever afters, while others, literally, destroy your soul. It was brilliant.

I look forward to reading it. I think this only the third time I have done this. I hope my review is accurate.

The Dracken are coming!
Rokien is traveling to d’Nosch to find his father’s murderer. Avmir is traveling there to kill Menykh, possessor of Ydtha’s Eye and the one who uses it to control her actions and direct assassinations. Along the way, they discover an irresistible attraction to each other but each of them holds secrets they are unwilling to reveal.
This is the second book of the series and it’s every bit as exciting as the first book was. Menykh is the villain that everyone loves to hate. Rokien and Avmir are unwilling heroes. The action is exciting but violent, and the Drackens are magnificent. I want more! I received an advance copy but my review is voluntary and honest.
Tear-jerker ending!
*Spoilers*
OMG! I loved this unexpected ending. There is so much power in the way that the story ends. It hits you on all levels. Amid my tears, I understood why Keelin did what she did. She could not be the queen that Asread needed and she could not go back to her life in the High Hills. She had completed her purpose, the reason that she made the choices that she did, and the next phase belonged to her daughter N’vynn. She knew that D’ruk and Rokien would share her and love her because of their love for Keelin and N’vynn’s importance.

I started and read through most of this book saying it was one of the best books/series I have every read. All the way to the last chapter and epilog things kept building and building and getting better and better and was really excited to see how the author would finish this series.
Then in the last chapter that is only about 10 pages or so, the author totally destroyed this book/series for me completely. She was heading to a great decent, happy ending and the author just could not let that happen. She deliberately sabotaged her own story and stuck a knife in her readers stomach and said screw you. Instead of the excitement I felt through the entire rest of the book connecting with Kellin the MC and loving who the character was, I now feel dirty and disgusting upon finishing this series.
I can only recommend this book/series to the rare person that looks for and wants very sad and horrible endings. I have never in my life written a negative or bad review until now. This book has me so mad that I have lost all the escape I read fiction for.
