Adriella always wanted children. Now, she finally has her wish. Overcome with joy, she cannot wait to tell her husband about her pregnancy…until she hears a new prophecy proclaiming that a child will soon be born—one who will destroy the High King. When a royal decree demands the death of all young children, along with any born over the next two years, Adriella’s life comes unraveled. Instead of … Instead of the excitement of a new baby, she feels nothing but trepidation at telling her soldier husband. She decides to flee before he can turn her in.
With the High King and his men searching for anyone who defies his edict, she knows there isn’t much of a chance she’ll survive. But in a country full of newly grieving parents, on streets red with the blood of innocents, Adriella will do whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the law. If she doesn’t, she’ll lose the one thing even more precious to her than her own life—her child.

I liked this book. I kept me guessing. I can’t believe all the things the main character went through. The cliffhanger left me dying to see where this series will go next!
I loved this audiobook! The story was very compelling and the narrator did a very good job. I find it hard to believe that someone chooses your spouse and you have no choice in the matter. The same with your job they choose for you and that is the end of it. Now you have a crazy person who heard a prophesy about a child who could kill him, so he kills all babies and children of a certain age and their mothers. The main character did what she felt was necessary to save herself and her baby, including leaving her husband. That is as far as I will go with that you really must either listen to or read this book it was awesome. The ending will throw you for a loop!
I received a copy of this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin for an honest review.
So filled with adventures and diversity, I had no choice but to admire the lead character…nothing like a strong female character to make a story great, in my opinion…yet I must admit the story ended with me being in tears and wishing I had a story that followed this one.

Adriella is strong character. There is prophecy that a child who is born with a star on their hand will be the one to kill the king. The king declares that all children and pregnant women be killed. Adriella finds out she is pregnant. She’s afraid for her child’s life that she can’t even share the news with her loved ones and her husband, who works for the king. With help she runs away with her friend to find somewhere to have the baby. During the trip she will learn many things and will reveal things that she has kept a secret from her friends and her husband Richart. Will Adriella be able to keep her child safe? Will her child be the chosen one to kill the king? Will she be able to find a safe place?

Great dystopian story with a bit of a twist. Great narration and complexity of voices. The only thing I didn’t like was the cliff hanger. So now I can’t wait for book 2 and going back into this exciting world with well developed characters and fantasy story line!
It was a good story with plot twists but it ended in a cliffhanger and I despise those. I got this book through story origins and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I won this book from a contest the author had, yeah me . I am so glad I did. I truly liked this past paced action and adventure, set in it’s own world with Magic and many type of supernatural beings and creatures. I cannot wait to read the next book.
Awesome story. Heart wrenching. Adriella is strong and compassionate. Well written. Fast paced. Cliff hanger.
