They say opposites attract, but in this case, they might just combust . . .HEATHERHermosa Beach seems to be the place for throwing together unlikely opposites. My rooster Rowdy and his new crush, Pixie the goat. The obnoxiously cocky cowboy from Texas and me . . . But unlike Rowdy and Pixie, there’s no way I’m going to fall for David Strickland.Nope. Never gonna happen. I could never be with a man … Never gonna happen. I could never be with a man so diametrically opposed to everything I believe . . . no matter how hot he is.
DAVID
There couldn’t be two people more different than me and the beautiful little tree hugger and rooster rescuer Heather.
We can’t agree on anything, except to disagree. Sometimes more heatedly than other times. And believe me, things are starting to get hot between us, in more ways than one.
She’s the last thing I expected to find at an animal shelter in California. But now that I found her, I have no intention of letting her go.
Now I just have to convince her of that plan.

A cute little romcom with a matchmaking goat and the lovesick rooster? I’m in. Mother Clucker was an adorable, quick read closely related to Cocky Bastard but a complete standalone.
Californians and Texans… sounds like the start of an epic drama but not today. Today it’s the start of a ridiculously cute story about a chicken farmer and a tree-hugging PR girl. David and Heather are total opposites but opposites attract after all. Their constant bickering is really just funny foreplay. Add in a fainting goat and a randy rooster and good times ensue.
Loved this cute and adorable read!

What do you get when you have a goat and a rooster in a romance novel? You get the Mother Clucker of all romcoms! David and Heather and a chicken farm scandal and a goat loving rooster… Bam!
Another hit for the Cocky Hero Series.
This is such an adorable story . From the cute meet and throughout the book this story was fun and engaging. Heather is house sitting a client house at Hermosa beach and she finds a rooster , since she can’t keep the rooster with her David who’s a pet food maker / chicken farmer volunteers to take care of her rooster for her . This was a fun filled story . This is the first time I’ve read this author and I enjoyed the spot on banter and character & plot development. This is one heck of a fun ride and we get to meet our favorite fictional goat pixie. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely be checking out more books by this author. Definitely a must read
This was a fun and endearing read. It was unique and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters are complete opposites. David drives a diesel gas guzzler truck and works on a farm where animals are slaughtered. Heather is a tree-hugging animal lover who drives a hybrid. She is in town house-sitting for her boss.
Their first meeting occurs at a gas station where Heather insults him regarding his truck and leaves. She finds a rooster on the beach and rescues him. She gives him to a pet-food-making chicken farmer from Texas. He is going to give it to his friend to live on his farm. David and Heather end up meeting again at the animal shelter. The back and forth banter was hilarious. Soon enough, the banter turns into attraction. David wants Heather and he is determined to get her. Will Heather allow herself to fall for such a cocky man?
This was a fun read from start to finish. The secondary characters were funny and lovable. I really enjoyed reading this unique, quirky, and funny romance.

I really enjoyed this book!!!
I liked both of the main characters. David was a good ol’ Texas man who has to go to California for work. He is a born and bred farmer and can’t understand some of the more new age type of things. He loves sparing with Heather. He was frustratingly amazing during this time.
Heather was a very likable character. At times, she came off a little not it all with her Hybrd car and things like that, but I liked that David sort of liked those rough edges.
The bantering was really fun and the arguments concerning Rowdy were fun to read.
Chance and Aubrey and Pixie are back in another Cocky Hero Club Novel this time we get the addition of a rooster. So many laugh to be had with David and Heather.

4 star review Mother Clucker (Cocky Hero Club) by Cat Johnson
Mother Clucker is part of The Cocky Hero Club inspired by Cocky Bastard from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. Having loved that book, I was intrigued by the blurb and could not wait to read and review, particularly since Cat Johnson is a new author to me.
Set in Hermosa Beach, a rooster named Rowdy and Pixie the goat, what more could you need to want to dive in? This is Heather and David’s story and it was an such a good read. Heather and David could not be more opposite if they tried and I loved that angle of their relationship.
This story although it had a little angst, also had humour and romance, particularly thanks to Rowdy the rooster which just added an extra layer to the story.
It was an entertaining fun read that left me with a smile on my face.
Heather is house sitting a condo on the beach when she spots a stray rooster. When she takes him to the local shelter the last person she expected to see was the obnoxious cowboy, in his gas guzzler, from the petro station. David is working to fix the reputation of his company with donations to the shelter. The 2 are opposites in every way and can’t agree on anything. Will sparks fly and lead to more or will they combust?
Mother Clucker is hilarious! I laughed so many times while reading. This was my first Cat Johnson book and I can’t wait to read more. She created fun characters to add to the Cocky Hero World. Mother Clucker pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down. Great addition to the Cocky Hero Club World.
There is something about a country boy and city girl romance story that I just can’t help but love. Motherclucker is an excellent read that will make you laugh out loud and has some good steamy romance as well. A great opposites attract story that you will love!
A rooster and a goat make for an interesting story.
Heather is a California girl and David is a Texas cowboy. Rowdy the rooster and Pixy the goat steal the show. Heather and David have a kind of hate/love relationship at first, but this was definitely a fun rom-com to read. Not a lot of drama and lots of laughs. The title says it all!
I’ve been wanting to read Cat Johnson forever and am so glad I finally did. Mother Clucker was both funny and intriguing. Crunchy granola Heather who wants to make the world a better place and who has had bad luck in the love department meets David, our resident chicken farmer from Texas. These two clash and one would never expect that it would ever be more than just a passing phase. But they may realize that they have met their matches and may actually be good for each other. Rowdy rules the roost and his relationship with Pixy made me swoon 😉
I am so loving these books! I have been introduced to so many wonderful authors, and this is one of them!
This book is so unique, yet so believable at the same time. Heather and David meet at a gas station as Heather comes across a runaway rooster. As you can imagine, these two are opposites in every way possible, but they complete each other so well. There are definitely some over the top, hilarious moments, but they didn’t detract at all from the adorable romance between our two main characters!
I do have to say though, Rowdy the rooster stole the show for me! You all will just adore this little fella! 😉
This is definitely a hilarious book that I loved reading! Make sure you pick up your copy on release day!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
David and Heather couldn’t be more opposite and there banter made me laugh a lot. David really got a kick out of making Heather squirm and the way he got under her skin kept me laughing. Cute story

If you have a soft spot for animals, then this is one for you. Heather is a media marketing specialist who is house sitting when she comes across a rooster, who she names Rowdy, running toward the beach. Not wanting anything to happen to the animal, she manages to catch it and take it to a shelter. Upon her arrival, she winds up seeing David, a man who she ran into at a gas station earlier while he was filling up his gas guzzling vehicle. The chemistry between David and Heather is smoldering and he really knows how to push Heather’s buttons in the best way. This is one storyline of opposites attract with the added bonus of David’s best friend Drew and Heather’s partner in crime Lucy. This is one engaging story that once started, you will not want to put down. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

Heather is a straight-laced, do-gooder from California. David is a pet food company owner from Texas that owns a chicken processing plant. Can they work out their vast differences and find their Happy (Medium) Ever After?
I really enjoyed Heather and David’s story and I also enjoyed meeting their respective best friends, Drew and Lucy. I definitely want to know what happened there. *gestures up and down with hand*
I enjoyed Rowdy’s randomness and his BFF Pixy (who doesn’t love Pixy, though)
One of the things I enjoy about this series is the little peaks from other characters from the Cocky Heroes universe. While this story was enjoyable, I feel like the ending was a bit rushed. I would’ve liked to see more of how these two characters feel for each other instead of all the arguing.
If you like animal shenanigans and sexy cowboys, you might enjoy this book.
I gobbled up this book in one day. I loved the humor in this one so much. Rowdy and Pixy were such a delight. The title fit this book in more ways than one. I really loved David and Heather. They are not fans of one another, but you can’t deny they have a burning attraction to one another. The secondary characters are great as well. That’s when you know you have a winner when you just as invested in the secondary characters as much as the main characters. This is the perfect book to get lost in and have all your worries disappear a bit.
I absolutely loved Rowdy.
I have to say I laughed so much at parts of this story. It was just brilliant. I couldn’t get enough. It was steamy, funny and had such a good storyline as well. The whole package.

David, Heather, a chicken, and a goat. It sounds like the beginning to a joke, but is actually the start to a pretty cute romance story.
David and Heather do not get along at first, but as the saying goes, opposites definitely attract. The animals play a part in bringing them together which also made for some pretty amusing moments.
I had not read anything from this author before and I didn’t know what to expect. Mother Clucker was a really fun read and one of my favorites from the Cocky Heroes Club series.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Heather and David’s story is a new standalone book within Cocky Bastard world, so yes we get to see Pixy, who doesn’t love that goat? and we get Rowdy the rooster in this story. This is an opposites-attract rom-com. Anyone will enjoy.
MotherC by Cat Johnson is a CHCNovel and while part of the CHCworld, can easily be read as a stand-alone.
Meet Heather and David. Opposites attract, they say. But these two can’t agree on anything , except they disagree on everything.
Put a rooster and a goat in the mix, and you have a rom/com of it’s finest, with great writing and characters that gave me all the feels.
” MotherC is a standalone story inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s CB. It’s published as part of the CHClub world, a series of original works, written by various authors, and inspired by Keeland and Ward’s New York Times bestselling series.”
