From the author of the The Bride… A friends to lover/billionaire boss story!EthanI met Jules in college. I was the cocky rich kid from the city and she was the girl from the farm with a chip on her shoulder. We shouldn’t have worked, but we did. We were more than friends which is why I wouldn’t let us become lovers. We were too important for that. I had plans to build an empire and I wanted …
I had plans to build an empire and I wanted her by my side. But when she actually came to work for me. That’s when I knew I was in trouble.
Because I wanted her.
But what if I’d waited too long? What if she didn’t want me?
Then one night changed everything and Jules wanted to quit. The job. Me.
I couldn’t let that happen. I had to find a way to fix us.

This was a freebie, and I knew it was gonna cliffhanger. I’ve read stuff by this writer before, so I knew it was coming. STILL! Which just goes to say that this thing hooked me like a fish, and now I’m kinda dying to know how it ends! If you are a West Wing fan, these two really do have Josh and Donna Vibes! Happy Reading!
Third book of the trilogy and it did not disappoint! Really enjoyed the characters.
Julia and Ethan met their first day at Harvard; the poor farm girl and the rich city boy, two misfits who became friends. Mostly My Boss by S. Doyle, book one of two, begins twelve years after that meeting with flashbacks to their earlier friendship and alternating between characters. Ethan was a cocky genius with a vision and need to change the world. Julia believed in him and followed him after her graduation. The problem is that Ethan changed the rules without telling Julia, attempting to that friends to lovers move. But it broke them, causing Julia to quit working for Ethan. Now he has one hour with the assistance of a marriage counselor to convince Julia to stay. Before she will stay Ethan needs to understand Julia’s feelings for him, not just now but over the years.
Ms. Doyle wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters but left me unexpectedly hanging at the end. Now I have to read book two to find out if Ethan and Julia work things out. I highly recommend Huge to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Perfection! The book will keep you guessing from the very first page. I loved how the story opened up and it’s premise. Totally unique and such a perfect reflection of Ethan and Julia’s relationship. I can’t wait for the conclusion!
Whew! Holy sexual tension, Batman! I really enjoyed this very unique read. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of this book. This wasn’t a lighthearted read. Not saying it’s hard to read either, but there was so much more to it than just what’s on the surface. I liked how the reader starts things in present time but then the narrative takes us back in time to how Ethan and Julia’s relationship began. I liked the back and forth and how strong these characters’ emotions were. I was completely captivated and didn’t want to put this book down. I enjoyed the way these two clicked and seemed to quickly be there for each other and even though the chemistry between them was strong, they held strong. (Or did they?!) Neither Ethan or Julia had an easy upbringing and they struggled with their families for completely different reasons. But the always had each other. I’m definitely looking forward to Mostly My Girlfriend to find out where they go from here …
Wow, I am a bit emotional after reading this. It is a quick read that will totally sucks you in. It wasn’t what I was expecting but I loved it! I really liked the way the author told the story of Ethan and Julia. Ethan and Julia’s friendship is easy at first until it becomes complicated. There is so much sexual tension and angst between them. The ending though… This is the first book of a duet so I am totally hoping to be all after Mostly My Girlfriend.
Wow, Ethan and Julia have a complicated relationship. The writing is really great, and we get to see Ethan and Julia from the start of their relationship to present. What starts out as an easy friendship, and I have to say, they were so cute together, turns complicated when they refuse to acknowledge their feelings. Ethan and Julia go through a lot together and they have such an intense connection. This story is raw with emotion and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.
***I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.***
If you want an emotional book to read this is the one to read. This book follows Ethan and Julia. They both are attending Harvard where they meet. Julia worked hard to get into Harvard so when she meets Ethan, she has no clue who he is. Eventually she does find out who he is but she doesn’t see him as anyone special. Ethan is super smart but has some issues and Julia has issues too. These two have known each other for years, since they met at Harvard. They go through some stuff but the one thing they never address is their feelings. So when push came to shove, Julia had enough and is going to walk away from it all. Ethan knows he made mistakes and wants to fix it and suggest therapy. Does it work or only m ale it worse? Things are brought to light in this session but someone is still holding back. There is still a lot left unsaid that need to be addressed so I can’t wait to read the next book.
Whatever your preconceptions are about romance novels, throw them out. This is a fresh, well written approach to the lives of Ethan and Julia, who met during Freshman year at Harvard. Julia is a poor farm girl from Iowa who worked hard to get a scholarship to Harvard. Ethan is a brilliant, rich visionary who comes from money. Julia has no idea who Ethan is, and when she finds out, she doesn’t treat him any differently. This book spans twelve years of their lives from college to working together at the company Ethan founded. Despite the close relationship and two nights of amazing chemistry together, they have never formally been a couple. But after the death of his father, Ethan messed up and when he asks Julia for one last chance, she agrees to give him one hour with a therapist. It is raw, intelligently written with several surprising twists and a cliffhanger ending, thankfully the sequel is out soon afterward.
