What a great read! I really enjoyed this story. I was rooting for Matt and Rachel from the start.
Who wouldn’t want a man like Matt?
Fun, heartwarming and romantic.
Once again Jules Bennett weaves a wonderful love story with Most Eligible Texan part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club:Bachelor Auction series. Matt Galloway and Rachel Kincaid(who were friends in the past) haven’t seen each other for about a year since Rachel’s husband Biily died. Matt stayed away from Rachel on purpose because he had feelings for Rachel and knew Rachel’s husband Billy was going to divorce her even though she was pregnant. Matt who was named Most Eligible Texan and Rachel happen to run into each other in Royal, Texas where Rachel is staying and organizing a Bachelor auction to raise money. Thinking Matt would be perfect for the auction Rachel asks him to participate and also she wanted to know why he has been avoiding her so long. This is where the story takes off.
This is a friends to lovers story with a HEA. Unrequited longing since Matt first met Rachel before Billy staked his claim story. Feelings betrayed story that will not disappoint you. Check it out!!
I love the feelings I have after reading Most Eligible Texan, written by the incredible author, Jules Bennett.
When widow and single mom, Rachel Kincaid literally runs into a man with a set of familiar dark blue eyes, her heart stops. The memories come flowing back of the last time she saw the handsome Matt Galloway.
Now Matt is in Royal, hiding from his millions he is making in Dallas, harboring a secret, and trying to gather himself from running into Rachel, his dead-best-friend’s wife.
Rachel is helping to set up an auction of bachelors, raising money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, and could really use a “big ticket bachelor”. When Matt agrees to be the “most eligible bachelor”, he does so in the hopes that he can entice Rachel to bid on him. Sparks, reconnection, memories, can they help heal their hearts?
This TCC book was FANTASTIC! There were heartbreaking conversations, intimate moments, humor, love, a millionaire, and an adorable little baby girl…sigh. Jules Bennett is one of my ‘one-click’ authors. She has an amazing way of making a story flow, always has wonderful characters, and I love the way her HEA’s happen. This one is a heartwarming, second chance/friends to lovers story, and a definite must-read!
Friends to Lovers!
Rachel lost her husband a year ago, and since that time, she and her daughter moved in with her friend Alexis while Rachel finished getting her degree. Her husband’s family were well off and could help her but she wanted a fresh start with her life her own.
Matt has always had a crush on Rachel, his best friend’s wife. When his best friend passed away, Matt stayed away from Rachel feeling guilty for his feelings toward his deceased friend’s wife. He is hiding in Royal, Texas after being named Most Eligible Bachelor. He is also selling his grandfather’s farm and deciding if he wants to sell his share of his company. He literally runs into Rachel and their story begins.
Rachel is involved in a Bachelor Auction for Pancreatic Cancer, and she asks Matt to be auctioned in the event. Matt accepts but convinces Rachel she has to bid on him!
This book has sweet (Rachel’s daughter is so sweet!), cute (their re-meet), emotions up and down, and a feel good HEA. An enjoyable, quick read.
I was provided with an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review. I have received no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
I loved this book! I loved that Matt is great friends with Rachel & always had feelings for her. Rachel is learning how to survive & go on after her husband dies & trying to be a great mom to her daughter. Rachel is helping plan an auction & needs Matt’s help which he is happy to give. Then they started having feelings towards each other. Rachel’s daughter, for me at least, totally stole the show. I just loved her. This was a fun & fast read.
Most Eligible Texan is part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Bachelor Auction series through Harlequin’s Desire line. You do not have to read the whole series or read in order as I’ve read ones here and there and don’t feel lost or like I’m missing out on pieces of the overall story.
Rachel Kincaid lost her husband about 1 year ago, she and her daughter Ellie moved in with her friend Alexis Slade at Lone Wolf Ranch in Royal, Texas while Rachel finished getting her degree. Even though Billy’s family was well enough off to take care of her every need, she felt they were a little too controlling over her and Ellie. She wants to get them started over, on their own.
Matt Galloway hasn’t spoken to his best friend’s widow since his death. He purposely stopped contact with her when Billy died and was no longer a buffer. Since being named as Most Eligible Bachelor he has been hiding out in Royal, Texas. Bumping into Rachel again has his whole body on alert.
Rachel asks Matt to be in their Bachelor Auction benefiting Pancreatic Cancer research. He accepts on the provision of her bidding on him and entices her by laying out her perfect date on his private island.
Will Rachel and Matt be able to hold back on their mutual attraction or will the memory of a dead husband stand in their way?
I loved the back story of Gus Slade and Rose Clayton. I’m assuming it was touched on and will be addressed in another book and I am looking forward to exploring their back story more fully.
A quick read without feeling rushed, Most Eligible Texan gets 4 stars for a good, romantic story. And who can go wrong with a Bachelor Auction that benefits a good cause. I voluntarily read an advance copy without any expectation for reviews. Any and all opinions expressed above are entirely my own. Another Desire book to add to my collection for sure.
I love a Jules Bennett story! I always love the connection I feel to the characters right away. Matt was so charming and the way he treated Rachel’s little girl was so cute. I love how we know that he wanted her from the start but didn’t get in the way when Billy said he wanted her years ago. I love that Jules also gives us great friends and in the story.
Rachel is back in Royal after the death of her husband and sees their best friend Matt. She wonders why Matt “disappeared” after Billy’s death. The scene on Matt’s private island is HOT and I loved that moment when she woke up and saw her daughter sleeping on Matt’s chest (awwww)!
Will Rachel bid on Matt at the Auction? Will the find their HEA? You’ll definitely want to find out! I couldn’t put this book down. It’s always good coming back to Royal!
Jules Bennett brings us “Most Eligible Texan”, book 2 of the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Bachelor Auction miniseries, featuring Matt Galloway and Rachel Kincaid.
Matt is in Royal to sell his grandfather’s farm and decide if he wants to sell his share of his company. Rachel comes to Royal to help coordinate the bachelor auction and to raise her daughter after the loss of her husband. She doesn’t expect to run into Matt, her friend and also her husband’s best friend.
Matt, having wanted Rachel before his friend won her heart, knows now is the time to let her know how he feels. He agrees to be part of the auction, all the while realizing what he thought he didn’t want, he does—a wife and family.
Rachel, hurt from her husband’s betrayal, isn’t ready to give her heart. Her focus needs to be on her daughter and making a fresh start with a new career and a new home.
“Most Eligible Texan” is sexy. It is a Harlequin Desire after all. It is also compassionate and humorous, and makes you want to find out what happens next at the Bachelor Auction.
With her brand of storytelling, Ms. Bennett continues to be one of my favorite Harlequin Desire authors.
