He’s a powerful billionaire CEO who built the family business into an empire. The money doesn’t matter to him, but the company is his life. And then his eccentric mother wills it all to her tiny dog.I’m Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that’s what my elderly neighbor always says.) When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to her dog, Smuckers. With … to her dog, Smuckers. With me as his spokesperson.
Suddenly I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor’s son, Henry Locke, aka New York’s most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.
Rumor has it Henry’s a business genius who’s as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Sure, he’s gorgeous. Sex-in-a-seven-thousand dollar suit. But…
He’s arrogant and infuriating.
He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn’t con his mother.
He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me.
Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I’m so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.
No way will his wicked smile be charming ME out of my panties.
His wicked…devastating…impossible-to-resist smile.
Oh well, who needs panties anyway?

I enjoyed this book far more than I thought I would, since the billionaire hero trend is getting a little stale for me. The next step are trillionaires, I guess. Inflation. That aside, the situation is witty and even realistic to a degree since I recall many instances of the dearly beloved’s pets inheriting estates, money, and yes–companies, back in the last century. The humor is well crafted, the characters engaging and fun, and the plot is nice and tight. All in all, a great summer read.
5 HILARIOUS stars! Annika delivers a mind-blowing book that mixes the best of the Romance and Comedy. There is a sinful CEO waiting for you!
There are times when you don’t have the right words to describe your feelings after reading an amazing book. Most Eligible Bastard is one of the best Rom-Com I have read during the month. It was a smooth and hilarious reading. I enjoy it from the beginning to the end.
I shall confess that this is the first time I read something from Annika Martin. This book popped my cherry (I mean Henry popped my cherry). It is refreshing to read new authors. Annika’s writing is wittily addictive. She gave me a renewed outlook of what Rom-Com genre is.
The plot is unique and the characters are well developed. This book has a lot of potential which Annika harnessed in a brilliant way. I always have a thing for CEOs and she gifted us one of the most arrogant CEO that I had the delight to read.
I almost sure that if you search the word COCKY in the dictionary, you will find Henry’s picture. He is a beautiful bastard, a rich powerful man, a golden architect. He is in charge of his family business. His company is his entire life. He protects it from anything or anyone. However a young woman will twist his life.
“A man like Henry doesn’t need to expend energy on things like a threatening glare . He just flicks his fingers and you’re destroyed.”
Vicky is the definition of a strong and defiant woman, a fighter. Life has treated her hard. She knows what arrogant, rich men are capable of doing. Her life will change. She will have to prove herself and be strong in order to deal with Henry Fucking Locke.
“Here is the last guy you should ever trust or want. He’s fooling you. Fake seducing you. And you want him anyway!”
Fate, a last will (Mrs. Locke’s will to be precise) and a cute dog are going to put them in a bittersweet situation where the Locke’s emporium will be threatened.
“You look so prim and proper, it makes me want to corrupt you. It makes me want to unravel you. There are so many layers to you, and I’m going to fuck them all.”
The attraction between Vicky and Henry will be epically intense. The pull and push game will leave you breathless. They will surrender to their desires. Lust will conquer their bodies. They will burn together.
“It’s like he’s learning me. Exposing my secrets. Stripping me bare for the first time in years.”
I spend a funny and an enjoyable time while reading this book. It made me laugh a lot. It has been a long time since I laugh. She put a big smile on my face. Every scene was a pleasant surprise. Annika delivers a mind-blowing book that mixes the best of the Romance and Comedy. Books like this should be written more often.
I absolutely recommend you this book. If you are in a mood for a sexy Rom-Com, this book is perfect for you. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed. It will leave you a big smile on your face and it will make you blush like a baby. This is a page-turner read you won’t want to miss.

This is a fast paced, hilarious, heart rending, romantic page turner with a great plot. The characters are certainly unique, but they are fully developed and feel wonderfully real. I would have been fine without the R-rated sex scenes and language.
Vicky O’Neil, the fake dog whisperer inherits a dog, Smuckers, who inherits a controlling interest in a billion dollar development, construction business
Vicky and Henry Locke have an instant hate relationship. But they say love is the other side of hate and while it takes a long, twisted, but hilarious ride to get there, you are pulling for Vicky and Henry to get there. Especially after Vicky shocks everyone with a dog throne in the boardroom and demands respect for a dog and herself.
There’s humor, disdain, mistrust, lies, and a betrayal. But at the end of the day, their love wins the show.
This was my first Annika Martin book, and what a great launch into a new author/new series it was! Just a touch of everything I love, spice, sincerity, a slightly over-the-top plot, silliness, heartache, and a little dog all wrapped up with a HEA. What’s not to like?! I enjoyed it so much I went and bought two more in the series.
Who wouldn’t love a book with a dog named Smuckers in it?
A charming fun read with good angst and laughs. It started a bit too slow and then slammed right into them being together so that was a bit unbelievable.
I listened to the audio and did not care for the female voice for the main character. It was distracting enough that I struggled to believe the heroines side of the attraction. The narrator, however, did a great job on the other characters. I’ll read the rest of the series.
Over the top laugh out loud story. It just mocks the people who leave money to animals. It should be illegal to do such a thing. Vicky, go get Henry!!!
I’d recommend the Most Eligible Billionaire. I found it very entertaining and, once I began, I just didn’t want to stop reading. The strong characters of the story were strong willed, had morals, integrity and flawed personalities making them relatable. The witty banter, with sexual innuendo, had me laughing out loud while the real situations sometimes had me in tears. It’s a HEA that, in my opinion, brought the story to a successful close!
Read the amazing and engaging romance story. When Henry’s mom passes away, she wills 51% of the company to her dog, Smucker’s, and the dog’s spokesperson, Vicky. Even though Henry is attracted to Vicky, he needs to end her say in the company. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting story with captivating characters.
Annika Martin has done it again!
Most Eligible Billionaire is the first in Annika Martin’s Billionaires of Manhattan series. I started from book 2 and it in no way hindered my enjoyment so thumbs up on complete standalone.u2063
The story revolves around Vicky, a pure-hearted woman with a spicy personality on the run from her past, who inherits a Maltese named Smuckers, and with it majority shares of a multi-billion international construction conglomerate. u2063
Part of the deal is CEO of said conglomerate, Henry Locke, estranged son of the woman who left the dog and all the shares little pooch now owns to Vicky. u2063
She hates entitled rich boys who try to push her around, he hates swindlers who take advantage of lonely old ladies and pose a threat to his family’s legacy.u2063
But the line between fiery hate and sparks of heat was never so blurry as it is with these two.u2063
And when they start peelings off all the protective layers around their hearts?
Let’s just say this book delivers some epic lines and scorching heat.u2063
Part of the Girl Meets Billionaire Anthology, Most Eligible Billionaire has drama, witty banter, a mean old rich woman, and a dog. It wasn’t what I expected but it exceeded it. I loved this story.
This book is nothing like I expected. With the description I thought this was going to be a goofy rom-com. It was anything but, it was sweet with emotional. It was a great book with interesting characters and a plot that had you interested and involved. I listened to the audio of this book and the narrators kept you interested and did both characters justice.
Vicky is a strong character that has to overcome a lot. Henry is not your typical billionaire. I enjoyed this book and all charters involved.
Audio Review
Ig you are looking for an entertaining, fun, laugh out loud experience look no further than the Most Eligible Billionaire by Annika Martin and narrated by Jason Clarke and Neva Navarre.
This is a book with al, the feels and the narrators do a wonderful job bring this story and the characters to life. The banter is witty and funny but more importantly it flows so naturally.
I fell hook, line and sinker for Vicky, the dog whisperer abd I fell hard and fast for Henry who happens to be New York’s most eligible bachelor…. two complete opposites but you know what they say about opposites attract. When Vicky’s elderly neighbor dies, she surprises everyone by leaving a corporation worth billions to her dog, Smuckers abd yes you guessed Vicky is in charge of everything dog related and the corporation and that’s where she meets Henry …….
Henry is arrogant and cocky and rubs Vicky up the wrong way from the moment they meet and Vicky is determined not to become a notch on his bedpost. Problem is this man charms her with his wicked smile and melts her panties with his hot presence…..
Loved everything about this fun, entertaining story with adorable characters who share plenty of witty banter and seriously hot chemistry.i loved the story and the narration and I highly recommend this audio book.
I read another book in this “series” last month and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to read another. But I thought this would be as light and fluffy as the last. I. Was. MISTAKEN. On the face of it, you might think this was a book about an eccentric old lady leaving her fortune to her dog to spite her family. And it…kinda is, but there’s so much more here. There’s so much more angst, drama and current situation conversation galore here. On top of the fun story, the sizzling tension and the comedy, there’s depth here. Henry and Vicky dislike each other on sight, no matter how much they want to get spicy. This was a very well written and well crafted hate to love office romance. The audio was FIRE. I volunteered to read and review a complimentary audio copy of this. All opinions are my own.
I had so much fun listening to this sweet and heartfelt enemies to lovers romance! Vicky is happy living a simple life, raising her younger sister and running her own jewelry business. But when a lonely, eccentric woman believes Vicky to be a dog whisper, she leaves her wealth to her dog, Smuckers, and then she leaves Smuckers to Vicky. Now Vicky in way over her head helping Smuckers run a multi-billion dollar corporation. Henry has worked hard wanting to build things and make his family proud. This family business means everything to him and he thinks Vicky is a scam artist, taking advantage of his mother. When Vicky tries to explain the misunderstanding and make things right, Henry refuses to believe her and is determined to expose her for the grifter she is. Vicky has been burned by the self entitled weathy before and decides to have a little fun with the situation first. She is hilarious as she plays it up with Smuckers in the board meetings, and as Henry and Vicky both trying to best the other. As Henry tries to show her what the company is about and Vicky reveals a bit of her artistic world, they find they are not so different after all. The more they get to know each other, the more they like about each other and the sparks begin to ignite. But when Vicky’s past finds her and secrets are exposed, will Henry stick by her or will she have to take her sister and run to keep them safe? I loved Henry and Vicky together. They were from totally different worlds but were so perfect for each other. I loved how their relationship developed and played out, and their chemistry was palpable. This story is the perfect blend of humor, heartbreak, and steam and it was brought to life so beautifully by the amazing talents of Jason Clarke, and Neva Nevarre. I loved how they nailed these characters so perfectly, making them their own. I was lost in their deliveries as they easily made me feel the push/pull between both Henry and Vicky and allowed us to experience their vulnerabilities and strengths, and sizzling chemistry! I really enjoyed this fun, emotional and steamy romance!
Wow once again this author blew me away with another FANTASTIC AUDIO!!! I absoutely ADORED this! I have listened to 2 audios from this series and am 2 for 2.
Both were 5 stars.
Both were steamy.
Both were unpredictable.
Both were funny.
Both had incredible characters.
I am moving this author up to one of my auto one click authors. I loved Henry and ‘Vicky’. They were absoutely perfect. The storyline was unforgettable. 5 stars! *Thank you Valentine PR*
I’ve read all three of these Billionaire books now and I can’t choose a favorite, but IMO book 2 is the funniest, book 3 is the most touching, and this one is the sweetest. They’re all really, really good. Far above the average rom/com.
In this one Henry and Vicky are gradually transformed from enemies to friends to lovers through Ms. Martin’s carefully constructed scenarios, descriptions and dialogue. It’s a slow drip, drip, drip of revelations. There are so many wonderful scenes that one by one show us who Henry and Vicky really are and establish a connection between them. I wish I could list some of them here but I’d be giving spoilers and I don’t want to ruin it for you. I’ll just give one little hint—one of my favorite scenes is Henry in the maker’s co-op.
So here’s a bit of the story (no spoilers). Our heroine Vicky has suffered much in her young life. Vicious untruths forced her into hiding to protect both herself and her sister. She was getting by until Henry’s cranky old mother dies and leaves her dog and 51% of her company to Vicky in her will. Vicky’s blindsided and no match for Henry and the other members of the board, but she’s able to hold her ground through sheer wit and determination. Over time she and Henry learn what each other is really all about. They’re both ‘makers’—creators and designers—hers on a small scale, his on a large one. They both have vision, but beyond that, they both are really decent, caring people. They make a good couple.
Vicky and Henry’s love story is a beautiful evolution. The slow discovery of their mutually shared passions and kindness builds a foundation for a relationship based on understanding and trust. Although both of them doubts that trust at times they learn in the end that they can always count on it.
As I said above IMO this is the sweetest book in the series with a bit of mystery thrown in. But all three books are sweet, funny and touching. They all display Annika Martin’s special talent for storytelling and creating lovable characters with depth. Add in great humor and emotion and my standards for romance novels have been raised way up. Read this book and this series. It’s a good one.
It was cute and enjoyable. A good read.
The cute little dog Vicky adopted turns out to be a billionaire. The tiny Maltese just inherited a giant corporation, and the jerky CEO, Henry, is not amused. – This sexy enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy is entertaining. The dog whisperer aspect is silly, but I admired Vicky. She had a traumatic childhood, was protective of her teenage sister, stood up to others, and was caring. Henry, though focused on business, began to like Vicky. .It was fun to see their friendship grow. This is a good book.
