I really enjoyed reading this one. It is action packed and suspense filled. There is also some really nice hot steamy scenes. Morgan Taylor is a Wildlife Biologist and the leader of her team of five. They split for separate missions and three end up murdered. Her dad is her boss and super rich and hires a bodyguard to accompany his daughter to complete the mission her murdered team mates didn’t. She is also determined to find out exactly what happened to them. Hunter Phillips works for Ethan Cooke Security and the man picked for the job. These two just rub each other the wrong way because they really want to rub against each other lol. She is feisty and he secretly loves it. These two have each lost so much and are both headed into danger and they don’t know who can be trusted.
First in a series, Morgan’s Hunter begins the adventure with non-stop action. Hunter Phillips, a former Marine recon officer, watched his best friend die from an IED in Afganistan. He vowed never to get close enough to anyone, ever again, where he would feel such intense pain if he lost them. He also vowed to protect and watch over Jake’s wife, Sarah, and their newborn baby, Kylee. A baby that Jake only saw on Skype. Jake was counting on Hunter to hold Kylee for him, something he would never get to do. It was a heartwrenching scene.
Now, Hunter is part of a security team out of LA which is owned by his other best friend, Ethan. There’s a powerhouse in DC who needs protection for his daughter. Enter Morgan Stanley. Hunter is assigned as her bodyguard after three members of her EPA team are brutally murdered while on assignment tracking a lynx. Morgan is determined to finish the assignment and find out why her friends were murdered. The only way her father will allow that is if she agrees to a bodyguard. Morgan isn’t at all happy about the situation and doesn’t truly understand the need for such extreme measures. Hunter isn’t particularly happy about having to babysit a pampered DC socialite.
Neither one of them think much of the other and begin their journey barely able to tolerate the other. As the danger increases and the signs begin to point to a much bigger conspiracy Hunter and Morgan must rely on and trust one another for their very survival. Somewhere along the way, a shift in attitude happens and then the fun truly begins.
A fast-paced story set between the DC social scene and the National Parks out west, this story takes the reader on an intense journey of cruelty, deceit, and the lengths that people will go to in the name of greed. Well done, Ms. Beauman! This looks to be an exciting series.
The perfect feel-good book.
Cliffhanger…..you have to buy next book to find out what happens. Very disappointing. Was really getting into the story too! But I won’t buy the next one just to find out the ending. Too many other good free books out there that don’t screw you out of an ending,
Morgan lives in DC and is a wildlife biologist. Three members of her team are shot and killed in Montana. She goes to find out what happened to them. Hunter is former military but now works at his friends security company. Morgan’s father hires them to guard her. Hunter watched his best friend die in his arms and wants no kind of relationship. The closer they get to the killers, the more dangerous it gets.
Action and mystery. Have Kleenex’s handy at the first of this story. A little of sex. Outdoors. Wild animals.
A great read . I really enjoyed this book. Well drawn characters, with a good, well paced story line. On to the next.
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love these types of books, the kind where hero gets hired to protect the heroine and they fall in love. I was stoked when I found about The Bodyguards of L.A. County series because it meant I get 11 books worth of delicious heroes. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this first installment as much as I hoped I would.
Morgan’s Hunter follows story of Morgan, a wildlife biologist, who is very dedicated to the cause. When half of her team is found dead, she travels to Montana to figure out what has really happened. However, the only way that her dad will let her go is if she brings a bodyguard along. This is where Hunter comes in.
Hunter suffers from PTSD after a mission in Afghanistan goes bad. Most of his team gets killed in an ambush and he blames himself for deaths of his friends and fellow soldiers. He now works for Cooke Security and does not let many people get emotionally close.
To say that their relationship wasn’t a walk in the park would be an understatement. Hunter thinks that Morgan is a spoiled, rich socialite, whereas Morgan is not too happy about bringing a bodyguard along and thinks that Hunter would hinder her investigation. They bicker constantly, and to be honest the back and forth got a bit tedious after a while, hence the 3 stars.
I liked the suspense and intrigue, however I sometimes questioned the actions of these characters. I got that Morgan wanted to find out what has happened to her team, but that girl had a death wish. She really should have been smarter about the way she went about the investigation. And Hunter should have known better, especially for someone who is trained for exactly this type of situations. Keeping important details about the murder of her friends from Morgan was not one of his finest moment.
Morgan’s Hunter had a really strong potential, but unfortunately it fell a bit short. However, that will not stop me from continuing with the series, because I really want to see rest of the men from Cooke Security find their own happily ever after.
This was a good book, although I didn’t care for how the Male lead acted when they parted he eventually got his head out his…..
