I discovered my ex’s secret. Now I’ll do anything to win her back. I’m Griffin Reed—cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word and everyone is disposable…except Britta Stone. Three years ago, she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I’d paid for my sin in misery—until I learned we have a son. Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s … Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I’ll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily, that’s one of my most singular talents.
Sixty days. That’s what I’m asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me—twenty-four/seven. Under my roof. And if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her.

Book two in the More Than Words series is another emotionally gritty romance that draws readers in and refuses to let go. After throwing the love of his life, Griffin’s discovered that they have a son together and decides he will do whatever it takes to win her back. Britta is engaged and on the cusp of moving on with her life and there is no way she open her heart enough to let Griffin in again. Griffin and Britta are strong, characters that readers can’t help but feel for as they try to navigate the tense emotional roller coaster of the current situations and the emotions that flow between this couple is poignant, gritty and real. They have the sizzling chemistry and the undeniable attraction but the trust just isn’t there and readers can’t help but become caught up in the anticipation of what will this couple have to endure and will they be able to reach that happily ever after stage.
The story flows at a steady pace and with lots of uncertainty which keeps readers glued to the pages of this intense and emotion charged romance. The characters really reach out to readers and it is obvious that this couple belong together but proving that one can be trusted is easier said than done and in order to really win the heart, one needs to let go of the past and purge it from their system by sharing the pain with the other and the author has made that painfully clear in this realistically feeling romance that caused me shed more than a few tears.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is the second book in the More Than Words series and it will break your heart what Griff and Britta go through.
Griff was put through hell from his parents and they destroyed his being able to trust anyone. When he met Britta, he thought she was too good to be true. And he thought he couldn’t trust her fully because she would somehow use him and hurt him in the end. And what happened was that he hurt her and broke her. Three years later he has realized that he is the one that messed up and destroyed them both. Now he has to prove to her he has changed and wants another chance to prove he loves her and will love only her forever.
Britta thought she had found true love with Griff until the day he broke her heart and left her. Now three years she is newly engaged and Griff has shown back up and is trying to worm his way back into her life. She needs talk Griff into leaving her alone and protect her heart. It’s hard to protect her heart when the only man she has and will ever love shattered her heart three years ago.
What will Britta do when she learns about Griff’s past? Will Britta give Griff a second chance to make things right? Will Griff get a chance to be a Daddy?
This is a first for me from Shayla Black and I can’t wait to read more from her. This story pulled me in from the beginning and kept me on the edge wanting to know what would happen next. I will be going back and reading book 1 to see what happens with Maxon and Keeley and I can’t wait for Harlow’s story.

I love this series so much!
4.25 stars–MORE THAN TEMPT YOU is the fifth instalment in Shayla Black’s contemporary, adult MORE THAN WORDS erotic, romance series. This is businessman/bartender Clint Holmes, and financial investor/waitress Bethany ‘Beth’ Banks’ story line. MORE THAN TEMPT YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from first person point of view (Clint Holmes) with a final chapter by Bethany Banks MORE THAN TEMPT YOU follows the building relationship and romance between twenty-five year old Clint Holmes, and thirty year old Bethany Banks. Six months earlier Clint’s life imploded when he watched in horror as his father succumbed to a heart attack minutes after discovering all of his money and investments had been lost in a Ponzi scheme. Fast forward to present day wherein Clint goes on the hunt to uncover the truth by ‘seducing’ the woman he blames for his father’s death and the loss of the family fortune. Enter Bethany ‘Beth’ Banks, and the woman with whom Clint will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Beth and Clint, and the fall-out as Beth discovers the truth, and Clint is unable to look beyond the heart break and pain.
Bethany Banks knows the pain of betrayal and loss. For years she was the pawn to her father’s control, a pawn that continued long after his arrest. Clint Holmes wants only one thing, and that is to make Bethany Banks pay for the death of his father but meeting Beth finds our hero attracted to a woman who’s just as broken as he.
The relationship between Beth and Clint begins as a lie. Clint knows where Beth is currently living and working, and sets himself up to work along side the woman he is hoping to destroy but the heart wants something more than vengeance-the heart wants a happily ever after with the woman with whom he will fall in love. The Sex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including all of Beth’s half-slblings: Maxon and Keely Reed (More Than Want You #1), Griffin and Britta (More Than Need You #2), Noah and Harlow (More Than Love You #3), Evan and Nia (More than Crave You #4); CFO Sebastian Shaw; Beth’s best friend Stephan Lund; as well as Clint’s brothers Bret and Bry, and his best friend Asher. Stephen’s story is next in MORE THAN PLEASURE YOU.
MORE THAN TEMPT YOU is a story of betrayal and revenge; loss and grief; deception, revelations; forgiveness and love. The premise is emotional and engaging; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are energetic and charismatic. MORE THAN TEMPT YOU is an animated and spicy tale of vengeance and love.
This is one of my favorite series of all times. Couldn’t put these booms down!
My first of Shayla Black. I liked the that the story is told from the male perspective. It’s a good story and I liked the best friend being a girl and the music play list. But I disliked the repetitive conversations, I love her so much, I need to f@#$ her, I need to win her back, I screwed up. Would probably read the rest of the series if available on Kindle Unlimited, but didn’t like enough to purchase series.
More Than Need You is book #2 in the More Than Words Series. Griffin Reed walked away from his brother who was his business partner and his live in girlfriend Britta Stone over a misunderstanding not realizing that she was pregnant. Three long years he ran around with hundreds of women having meaningless sex then he finds out he has a son. Britta has been heartbroken since Griff broke her heart out of the blue without an explanation and left her pregnant more than 3 years ago. Now she is left to raise her son by herself until she decides that she can either stay single or settle for being “in like” with her boyfriend Makaio and agree to marry him. That is until Griff barges back into her life demanding to see their son Jamie. This story is about how it takes more than just words it takes actions, crying, screaming, music, lots more of talking and understanding before there can be forgiveness then love. Absolutely loved their journey. This is a standalone but you learn a lot about the two of them in book 1 of the series More Than Want You.
The book was very good but they really had some trust issues.
Loved reading this book.
This book started out ok, then, the one big problem continued and continued AND continued. It absolutely tired me out. I finally skipped a lot of pages just to get to the end!
Terrible book. Didn’t like a soul in this book!!!
I felt it was a slow moving book.
Truly enjoyed although I skipped a few pages.
Book two in the More Than Words series. This book had me laughing, getting angry, swooning and even crying!!
Griffin walked away from Britt three years ago. After what he perceived as a betrayal. Both by the woman he loved and his only brother, Maxon. With the help of his friend Keely, he seeks the truth. Keely really wants these two brothers to rekindle their relationship. But in the process of all of this Griff see his one true love, Britt. Secrets come to light. And reality is smacking Griff in the face. Can he win Britt back? She’s moved on…she’s getting married to another man. Can Griff prove his love. More secrets need to be revealed. Will it make them or break them? ***Warning….once you start this book, be prepared for a book hangover cause you won’t want to put it down***
This book was great. I would recommend it.
Wow this book is full of angsty goodness! This book gave me all the feels, I laughed, cried and sighed. Britta and Griff have a hard road to happily ever after but it is so worth the read! I love that this book is all from Griff’s point of view which gives the story a different twist. Griff is determined to be a part of Britta and their sons life. He wants to make amends for the past and convince Britta that they can live happily ever after. Britta is a strong single mother who gives Griff a run for his money. This book is angsty but that just makes the end so much sweeter. The angst adds to the story and does not bring it down. If you are looking for a book with depth, romance, humor and redemption then this needs to be your next read for 2018!
Griff and Britta’s story was as heartbreaking as it was beautiful. While Griff was determined to win back Britta and be a father to their son, Britta was trying to protect herself from being broken yet again by Griff. Watching Griff develop a relationship with his son both brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my lips. Although I was rooting for Griff to win Britta over through the entire book, I could totally understand Britta’s reluctance to just give into Griff. I’m not normally a fan of second chance love stories but I absolutely loved this story. Shayla Black always delivers with stories that draw you in and keep you wanting more. More Than Need You was yet another such example. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This story was one of the most emotional books from start to finish that I have ever listened to. After the reunion with Maxon in book one, Griff realizes just how much his actions tore everyone apart, including him. Making it his goal to get Britta and Jamie in his life was a journey of severe heartbreak over and over for both of them. As Griff states toward the end of the story, none of this ever happens if it weren’t for Keeley coming into their lives. Extremely good love story.
I felt this story on many levels. Griff and Britta had mountains to climb, but they absolutely did!
After reading More Than Want You, I knew I wanted to read more about Maxon’s siblings and so when Shayla announced that she is writing a book about Griffin and Britta, I was super excited and on cloud 9. So after reading them, I will tell you that I wasn’t disappointed at all. Better yet I can’t wait to read from this series and also from Shayla Black. Thank you so much Shayla.
