Every ancient legend begins with a grain of truth.Ceri always knew she was different. Seeing people’s auras and being able to change the weather with her moods just isn’t normal, nor does she understand why simply being around others saps her of her strength. There’s no one she can turn to; who she is and where she comes from are the biggest mysteries of all.Settled into a small college town, she … all.
Settled into a small college town, she immerses herself in studies of the supernatural and lives a solitary existence. Until he crosses her path and comes to her rescue.
After earning his master’s in criminal justice, there’s no plausible reason for Edan to stick around campus. There’s only a feeling. A feeling of destiny and purpose that calls to his ancient Highland ancestry and keeps him right where he is.
When he meets her, his purpose becomes clear. He can’t explain it, but she needs him, and he’ll go to great lengths to protect her.
In their search for answers, Ceri and Edan learn there’s a lot more to the world than either of them ever imagined. The lines between reality and myth blur as they discover ancient magic, hidden realms, and the truth about who – and what – they really are: pawns in a game that’s been played for millennia.
Will Ceri and Edan embrace the destinies that have already been written for them? Or will they sacrifice everything to be together?

Abbie Zanders never disappoints. I love the world she created. Mythology is always fascinating to build on. Wonderful characters. Magical. Intriguing. Fun. Highly recommend!
Reality (is) vastly overrated. Set aside a full day for this PG15 tale of lost fae royalty. I received an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
As a reader with quite a few paranormal books in her collection, this is by far one of the best. Creating a paranormal world takes skill and takes a reader to a world which is not their own and allows them to explore and live in that world. This story is everything that is good about paranormal. I loved that is was not cookie cutter, all the characters had flaws, it was not a fairy tale. Enough information to make the world seem real but not so much that you are bogged down into a history book. Truly excellent book with so many rich characters, beautiful worlds, and unexpected twists which were very welcome. I am hoping that this book launches a series because I will be the first in line for that. Well done Abbie Zanders!!
This is a completely different take on paranormal! Ceri knows she is different but she never truly realizes just how different until her whole life changes in an instant. When she runs into trouble and Edan comes to her rescue, not only do they become closer than what they expect but it creates problems that could be beyond life changing for the both of them.
This was definitely different than what I was expecting but it absolutely worked! Ceri and Edan are these characters that you can’t help but love and want to know more about, all while rooting for them to get a HEA. And when they are separated, you just want to be able to find a way for them to come back together again. I don’t want to say too much because I feel like it would be a spoiler, but if you like PNR then you will definitely like this one! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was one character that I truly couldn’t stand and what he did to her without any repercussion’s just made me mad. But honestly, I think that is just a preference thing for me!
This is a fun paranormal story and just when you think you know what will happen next the story takes a turn. There is a wonderful mix of characters, and some not so nice – but then that is what helps make it a memorable story. You can’t help but feel for Ceri who feels like an outsider both on Earth and in the land of the Fae. Hopefully there will be more books so we can get to read the story of the some of the other characters.
I was blown away with this one. I started to read and from the first sentences I was trying to figure out what he was. She was just as beautiful wonderful to to know. Abbie Zander’s has hit out of the park. She has taken PNR to another level. Please don’t be upset I didn’t write about actual story;but needless to say that you’ll be in love with this book and future authors work. Not say she isn’t awesome to begin with but this is WOW.
Abbie Zanders weaves a magical tale of ancient realms and civilizations, dark demons, Guardian Highlanders and the Fae. Even the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon, makes an appearance. It’s a story of heartache, never quite fitting in, loneliness, and most of all love. It’s charming with two wonderfully written and genuinely likeable characters. Ceri and Edan find something in each other that’s been missing in their lives. She gives him purpose and he makes her feel safe. Little do they know that their fates were long ago determined. Fulfilling a destiny may be inevitable but does not necessarily guarantee happiness.
This book was not my usual genre when it comes to reading.I had never read a paranormal story before and it took me a while to get into the lingo. However, I enjoyed it immensely! Ceri knows she is different from everyone else around her and she struggles with everyday life. Her friends talk her into going to a club and even though she struggles with noises and people, she decides to go. This changes her whole life. She is rescued by Edan from some men who are bad news. He becomes her “guardian”. Their story is one of magic, love and destiny. I enjoyed taking their journey with them!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Amazingly well done
Ceri and Teague knew they were different and Edan felt he was waiting for something. Little did they all know that their futures would be intertwined and drastically different than anything they could imagine. Once again Abbie takes into a world like no other and tells the story so clear that you feel like you are there too.
Changing my Mind on Mythology and Legends – Loved it!!
Completely relatable and very emotional.
Ceri keeps her distance from people as they literally drain her and being around people is taxing for her. When a trio of goth looking men accost her, her rescuer Edan has the opposite effect; she feels safe and trusts him to keep her safe.
These two find out there are realms they know nothing of, but of which they are an integral part.
The reader can easily imagine the world tilting as more discoveries are unveiled.
Fae, and the affinity for fire, earth, air and water; Guardians, Nymphs and Poseidon himself all play a role in this fascinating and entertaining story!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Great book! Loved the characters and how they found true love against all odds.
I love PNR, but a really good one is hard to find. And it seems that Abbie Zanders has provided readers with a winner.
I love PNR reads that deal with the four elements and add in people who are just learning their destiny even better.
As far as the secondary characters I loved Tristan to pieces and all the paranormal creatures introduced were amazing.
This was a very intriguing book with a great storyline and flow. I look forward to any additional books that will follow.
What an adventure! This book is unlike any other that I have read, including the PNR/fantasy genre. I love all the work and research that must have gone into the writing of this book. It is so well written and thought out that I was held captive. This starts out seeming to be one thing and takes you on quite the ride. I can’t say that I could have predicted what was going to happen throughout much of this book. Just when you think you know what is to come, Ms Zanders throws you for a loop and you are left reeling. I am afraid to give any details about the actual story as you could lose some of the thrill of discovering them as you read along. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves PNR/fantasy and even those who don’t. It pulls you in and you forget about the outside world while you get lost in the story Ms Zanders weaves around you
I received this book for an honest review. When I first started this story, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, and I didn’t see how it was going to turn out. But the farther I got into the Fae world the more I was intrigued. The ending was quite a surprise. I absolutely loved this story and I can’t wait to read more about the characters in this magical world.
Abbie Zanders has taken us to an absolutely, beautiful realm in this AMAZING love story. This emotional, break your heart, then put it back together, with all kinds of mystical surprises had my emotions all over the place and to have the greatest mythological creatures help just makes the heart break worth the pain. LOVED this book
There aren’t too many authors that write paranormal books that I like to read, but Abbie Zanders always delivers a fabulous story. More than mortal is an exciting, emotional, page turner! You will fall in love with the characters, and the happily ever after is stellar. Don’t miss this book. It was great!!
A very interesting story that for me was let down by just to many points of view. I really liked Ceri and Edan a lot, I would have liked more of the story from their point of view. The plot twist at the end was something I never seen coming and thought was a great way to gives us reader the ending we were rooting for.
