I hooked up with my temporary roommate. Now I’ll do anything to claim her for good.
I’m Noah Weston. For a decade, I’ve quarterbacked America’s most iconic football team and plowed my way through women. Now I’m transitioning from star player to retired jock—with a cloud of allegation hanging over my head. So I’m escaping to the private ocean-front paradise I bought for peace and quiet. What I … bought for peace and quiet. What I get instead is stubborn, snarky, wild, lights-my-blood-on-fire Harlow Reed. Since she just left a relationship in a hugely viral way, she should be the last woman I’m seen with.
On second thought, we can help each other…
I need a steady, supportive “girlfriend” for the court of public opinion, not entanglements. Harlow is merely looking for nonstop sweaty sex and screaming orgasms that wring pleasure from her oh-so-luscious body. Three months—that’s how long it should take for us both to scratch this itch and leave our respective scandals behind. But the more I know this woman, the less I can picture my life without her. And when I’m forced to choose, I’ll realize I don’t merely want her in my bed or need her for a ruse. I more than love her enough to do whatever it takes to make her mine for good.

This book stands out from so many other because it’s strictly from Noah’s POV except for a single brief chapter at the end that comes from Harlow. Most books are dual but when they’re not, it’s usually her POV so this was a refreshing change. Noah is sweet and loving but a bit intense. He had a wicked case of insta-love but Harlow is totally anti-love and anti-relationship thanks to her awful parents and past men in her life. She made him work for it until the very end.
Harlow’s angst runs deep but it’s understandable once we learn more about her past. My only criticism is that it took a bit too long to learn the details. Since we’re not in her head, it’s not easy getting that information and we don’t have the full picture until the end of the book. I would have liked to see her open up a little to someone, especially Noah because I got bored with her pushing him away. She wasn’t my favorite character, although I did empathize with her. I loved Noah enough to stick it out, hopeful he’d get his HEA but Harlow’s need to keep the world at arm’s length was a bit much for my tastes.
Sweet and steamy, with engaging premise and interesting characters. I didn’t connect with all of the writing and skimmed some.
This one just hit different. I loved the two previous stories in this series, but, as a female whose past kept her guarded against everything her heart was telling her was real, this was the game winning touchdown. I LOVE Harlow, the snarky, sassy personality which guarded everything she didn’t want to admit. Noah is perfection in his undying persuit of the woman who broke the mold for him. This is beyond my favorite in this series. I admit. I’m biased. While Maxon and Keeley were great, and Britta and Griff pulled at the heart string, Harlow and Noah were raw beyong raw. Love this one.
Maxon Reedi is a multimillionaire shark looking to distract his brother from making an important deal. He decides that local singer Keeley Kent might be able to do the trick, but maybe he could sleep with her first…
“All I can think about is that beating Griff might mean losing Keeley.”
“…she’ll get that wanting her & wanting to screw my brother over don’t have to be mutually exclusive. After all, I’m not plotting to hurt her.”
But he is… so much so…
The story is told only from his point of view, & it’s a bit long to get going in the first half of the book. It’s his viewpoint, & you can’t help but think he’s egocentric, selfish… However, when we meet his father, it’s as if a switch is flipped. We can’t help but want him to be better, to do better.
This is a well written story about a man who just seems to make mistakes over & over, & we eventually want him to do well, to be better.
A few pages into the story is the first extremely steamy and lengthy lust session. More than 50% of the book is descriptions of more lust sessions. A few pages of story and another lust session. Extremely descriptive lust.
Buried in all the lust is actually a good story. He is facing the end of his extremely successful pro football career with speech issues. She is a speech therapist recent grad, but she comes with a HUGE life of issues the love and relationships. The story builds to the resolution of both their issues and a happy ever after.
I enjoyed this book but felt the first chapters of only sex detracted from a good story. The base story was interesting but got lost often in the unrealistic need for 24-hr sex.
The best one by far! Harlow is a spunky, independent female that hides her generous, giving heart. Noah is an ex-football star trying to get his head together for the future. Neither is prepared for the other, and yet fireworks take off!
So Noah and Harlow were outstanding. Shayla has a very unique and beautiful. I fell in love with Shayla’s writing ever since I read her Masters of Menage series and there was no turning back from there.
Back to More Than Love You, it has everything we are looking for in a love story. The backdrop is set in Hawaii and than we have hot couple, Noah and Harlow. While Noah is a total trouble maker, at the same time Harlow is subtle and soft.

Harlow’s pain is so deep and ingrained she trusts no one and won’t even let her brothers in. Noah is at a crossroad in his life and was only looking for a little peace in his world. When these two meet and start to get to know each other there is a mutual need that leads to a pact that leads to so much more.
The dynamics between them keep you turning the pages. The relationship keeps you cheering them on. The sadness and heartache in Harlow makes you want to hug her, befriend her and yell at her to get out of her own head so her heart can get what it needs.
Noah is patient and loving and all you want to do is hug him, then maybe steal him from Harlow. 🙂
He is a tough Alpha loner who is willing to open himself up for love.
After the life Harlow and her brothers had at the hands of their parents, it is a wonder that any of them are willing to love at all. Leave it to Noah to crack Harlow open and then her family to make her see just what she needs to see.
I admit I missed a book before this one and will definitely go back and read Griffin and Britta’s story!
I am loving this hardheaded family!
Wow… can Shayla Black even write a bad story? The answer in my opinion is HELL NO!
Once again, Shayla goes and blows my mind with an emotional, all consuming, hot as hell plot and leaves me gasping for air. She continues to release all these amazing, heart breaking beautifully written stories that swallow me whole! As you read this part of the series you can feel just how much emotion and passion she puts into each and every chapter. Her characters are well written and so easily to fall in love with.
More Than Love You is book 3 in the More Than Words series and it’s a roller coaster of emotions, a gut wrenchingly beautiful story of Noah and Harlow and their path to find happiness together. It’s not all smooth sailing though and they find themselves in some difficult situations.
Harlow seems beautiful, strong willed, witty and funny, but a little stand offish towards Noah to begin with after a awful, painful and nasty break off with her ex. She is hesitant as ever when it comes to letting another man into her life and she tries to keep the wall she’s got up.
Noah? Well damn… he’s just perfect. Shayla can really write a male lead character you can easily fall in love with and she did just that with Noah. He’s passionate, loving, but also has demons and scars of his own. He had a sarcastic, fun and daring way about him also, so mix it all together, in my eyes that’s the definition of perfection. He was patient, and kind and didn’t push things too much when it came to Harlow and their “relationship” or the relationship it was slowly becoming. Brick by brick, he took down that wall she had built up so high. Slowly but surely, he showed her that he could be trusted, that he wanted nothing more than to make her happy.
Both of them together? Well, they were hot as hell, all consuming, captivating and intense. It started off as flirting and turned to friends with benefits. They had fun together, enjoyed each other’s company and couldn’t get enough of each other. Things started to get serious, and the intensity of their relationship heightened and it just chewed me up whole.
All in all, this was an absolutely amazing read. The journey between these two was perfect and Shayla did an amazing job, it was extremely well written and it’s a MUST READ! You will not be disappointed!
If I could rate it higher than 5 stars I would!!
A super sexy and emotional story. I loved Noah, and the sex scenes are off-the-chart hot!
Very enjoyable.
Had to keep the fan going with this book!
Love this book. Noah was sweet in his dedication to living Harlow and helping her to heal
Noah Weston, you’ve ruined me for reading other football player books. Seriously. I adored your story. Adored your passion for life and love. I just plain adored you.
And Harlow Reed. Damn, woman, you are the perfect match for Noah. Your feisty, smart, tenacious, independent and all around amazing. Your ability to work your way into Noah’s heart, life and bed . . . I bow down.
Seriously, you need to read this book. Go. Get one-clicking. While you’re there one-click all the others in this fantastic More Than Words series. You need to meet Harlow’s ridiculously awesome older brothers and the women in their lives too. I can’t wait for more in this series—Evan’s story is next!!
Hands down this is my favorite of the series so far! This is the third book in the series, however, the books can be read as standalones. They do have overlapping characters, Harlow’s brothers and their significant others, from book one (Maxon Reed) and two (Griffin Reed). I really enjoyed them. They are definitely worth the read!
Holy hotness with Harlow and Noah and their smoking hot chemistry! I adore Noah. He is so patient with Harlow. She has a lot of issues and he is there for her every step of the way. He has a way to smooth the way, even when she gets skittish, he goes with the flow and doesn’t necessarily give in but allows Harlow some room to work things out herself. Harlow is a riot. She is outspoken, sexy, funny, brilliant and a real challenge for Noah. She is hiding something from Noah and her brothers. She has kept this secret for years and it is hurting her emotionally and has her doubting her ability to have a relationship.
This is where I tell you I don’t want to get into anything about the book as it’s better for the reader to go in cold and ride the roller coaster of emotion that is Harlow and Noah’s love affair. My heart hurt for Harlow and her brothers as more of their past is revealed. Noah is an island boy and his family is there to support him and Harlow. Noah has his own hurdles to tackle (no pun intended) before he makes a decision about what he plans to do with his opportunities that were offered now that he is retired.
I loved that the story was told in Noah’s POV and even though this is a longish book, it is fast paced, and I didn’t feel any drag or lag. The story flowed well and kept me hooked. The story and the characters are so well written and that made me invested in them and the story.
I highly recommend this sexy, sweet, and emotional love story that is Harlow and Noah.
This amazing story begins with Harlow house sitting and lounging by the pool. Enjoying her job and the sun, suddenly there’s a shadow above her blocking that sun. She confronts this hot man about being on private property. Funny though, he asks her the exact same question. Come to find out he’s the new owner of this $25 million house in Hawaii. Oops!!
Noah is a retired professional football player looking to escape the public eye with this new house! Who knew he’s wind up in a different situation (or kinda the same) with Harlow!
What a great story! Noah and Harlow were fireworks, off the charts chemistry and hot together! Holy smokes!! As always with Shayla Black this was another 5 star book in my opinion!!
The title for Noah Weston and Harlow Reed’s story is quite an interesting one given the nature of how their summer fling starts, their respective relationship history, and the adamant contention on Harlow’s part that she is incapable of romantic attachments and commitments when it comes to the opposite sex.
But it’s not just their expiration date or the fact that Harlow never seems to want to share anything about herself or her past…what’s most striking to me about the title is its paradoxical idea. ‘More Than Love You’ seems quite contradictory…perhaps even possible, but the further readers get into Noah and Harlow’s book, the clearer it becomes that everything that Noah is feeling for Harlow and giving to her in order to build something beyond their insane sexual chemistry and off-the-charts fucking/love making is so much more than love…it’s beyond devotion…beyond adoration…beyond cherishing…it’s all of those feelings and SO MUCH MORE…
NOW, Noah just has to prove that to the beautiful, closed-off, challenging, giving, sassy woman who’s the woman of his dreams and hopefully his future EVERYTHING.
There are a lot of personal issues that Noah and Harlow must sift through in order for the feelings they have for each other to grow into something more. Noah needs to deal with the end of his Pro Football career and the health complications that have posed a road block for his second career opportunity. But more importantly, Noah must prove to those who love Harlow and to the woman herself, that he’s more than up for the job of making Harlow happy for the rest of her life.
Harlow is a bit of a wild card for a number of reasons; every time Noah pushes too much, she shuts down and uses humor or sex to evade any emotional discussions. She’s also tight lipped when it comes to what happened in her past that makes her believe she’s incapable of a forever kind of love. The biggest issue, though, seems to be her non-relationship with her parents and two over protective older brothers who need Noah to prove himself to them as well as finally unearth everything they’ve had to deal with due to their parents’ selfishness and neglect.
It was truly frustrating to not know everything that made Harlow so closed-off, especially because readers aren’t privy to her internal thoughts or her own perspective for almost the entirety of the book. We learn about her past from her brothers, from her brothers’ wives and from the little bit that Harlow reveals through her conversations with Noah, but for the most part, she remains elusive and uses sex as a distraction.
Because More Than Love You is told primarily through Noah’s point of view, readers do get to know him quite well and we witness his struggles with his speech issues, his concerns for his second career, his devotion to a woman who revs him up, frustrates him beyond belief, and warms his heart in ways he never thought possible. Shayla Black does a good job of allowing readers into Noah’s head and watch him work hard to figure out how to get through the wall that Harlow’s constructed around her heart so that she never suffers from an unconditional love she knows she’ll never have.
Overall, I really enjoyed Noah and Harlow’s story. They seem to be perfect for one another and because neither of them know what it feels like to be in love…to be invested in someone else to the point that they would willingly sacrifice it all for, they take each day they’re together as it comes and they work toward building something that scares the crap out of Harlow but also something that it’s clear she wants and needs to live a full life.
I’m intrigued by both Noah’s brother and Harlow’s brother, and I’m hoping one of their stories is up next!
4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
Who knew escaping to paradise would mean finding love? New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shayla Black’s More Than Love You is the third book in the More Than Words series and is quite honestly my favorite so far. I do recommend reading the first two books beforehand to understand the Reed family dynamic and get to know the characters that make appearances.
Scandal has both Noah Weston and Harlow Reed hiding out at a private ocean-front property. Neither is looking for a relationship, but they decide to use their passion and attraction to present themselves as a supportive and loving couple until the scandals pass over. But what happens when the ruse is over, and they realize it more?
This book has the roles reversed. The male character is usually the one shying away from love, but not Noah. No once he realizes what he feels, he then makes it his mission to convince Harlow that she feels the same. But he has a hard road ahead of him with that. Harlow’s outlook on love has been destroyed. She has built the walls surrounding her heart high. But if anyone can break them down or find a way over them its Noah.
I love the inclusion of Harlow’s brothers Maxon and Griff and their wives into the story. It was like visiting family and catching up a bit.
Shayla has written another fully captivating book within this series. As always, I loved it and I cannot wait to see what she gives me next. Five Scandalous stars!!!
