I need to hire a wife. But I only want my assistant. I’m Evan Cook—billionaire tech entrepreneur and widower. Professionally, I’ve got it all. But since my wife died, my personal life has fallen apart. Remarrying seems like the obvious answer, so I place an ad. I’m not asking for much. The ideal woman only needs to be smart, organized, pretty, and helpful—both in and out of bed—without expecting … helpful—both in and out of bed—without expecting romance. I never thought to look right in front of me…but it turns out that Nia Wright, my sexy, sassy assistant, just might be the perfect candidate.
After an unexpectedly hot night together, I’m ready to stop interviewing strangers and simply marry her. On paper, she ticks every box on my list. Best of all, she’s far too sensible to fall for me. I didn’t see the flaw in my logic until it was too late. I never thought I’d lose my heart for the first time. And I definitely never imagined Nia could consume me. But she’s harboring a secret that could tear us apart. Can I prove I more than crave her before it’s too late?

Shayla Black always finds a way to gut punch you with emotions. In the instance of More Than Crave You she gives us a brilliant man who is not a smooth talking Alpha but is a man who is almost an emotional toddler when it comes to processing and expressing emotions and feelings. He is suddenly thrust into a relationship where actions speaking louder than words is not good enough. She wants the words and he doesn’t have any idea how to say them.
Evan Cook is tech geek, comfortable in the black and white world of absolutes, coding and machines. Nia, his long time assistant brings color and chaos to Evan’s life and he’s not sure what to do with them or how to handle this woman who’s been right under his nose for years. All he knows is that he wants to try. Giving her the world doesn’t seem enough but can he give her the one thing she insists on? Nia lives in a world of colors and wants it all….the guy, the charming house, the picket fence and the kids. She’s loved Evan almost from the day he hired her but knew she never had a chance…he was a married man, until he wasn’t. So what happens now? Forging a relationship is challenging for both of them and it’s definitely not a smooth road to romance. Evan finally gets it and Nia gets her man.
Evan never realized that all of his dreams and desires were standing right in front of him this whole time until his sexy assistant steps up. This was one of those stories that I was cheering them both on and hoping that no matter what, the HEA would be a fabulous one.
I’ve been dying to read Evan’s story since we got to meet him at the end of More Than Love You. And I was not disappointed—at all!! I think More Than Crave You is my favorite of this fantastic More Than Words series.
I adored Evan and all his rigidity. His need for quiet order and control. Even when it comes to the affairs of his heart. He’s trying to heal from the death of his wife and trying to move on as he knows she would want him to. But he really doesn’t know how—until he comes up with the brilliant (not really) idea to advertise for a wife. And that’s when all hell breaks loose.
Evan’s quiet, careful life is lonely. And perhaps Nia is just the one to change that for him. He’s never really looked at her as anyone or anything other than his perfect assistant. But Fate (and friends) have a way of making things happen. And, whoa boy, do things happen!
I loved the slow burn to their relationship—yes, it was hot and sexy, but neither one really has experience with long term relationships, with love. Even Evan. And when they FINALLY figure it out—whoa, sparks fly, fireworks explode and awesomeness occurs.
I loved the developing sibling relationships too—that the Reed siblings welcomed Evan into their hearts and into their family. And Nia too. Sigh. I want more.
More than crave you fit’s the old saying when you least expect it, expect it!
Evan, a man who lost his wife and child believed he would never find
love again. Then he finally really opens his eyes and see’s his executive assistant Nia. Evan and Nia’s story is a true journey of love and discovery!
Another amazing book!!
4.5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I really enjoyed this story. I liked Evan and Nia. I like how they became to be together. I love Shayla Black and this story is no exception to that.
Evan has had his fair share of loss. Now he has to learn how to find his way again, if he wants too. My heart broke for Evan at times. But there were times I just felt he was so dense. Nia, god, this girl has a backbone, and she’s going to need it. I loved how strong she was.
I enjoyed this story. Evan’s attitude bothered me at times, but I get why. I hate that he had so much loss in his life, but he was capable of loving someone again. I enjoyed the twists and turns.
Black takes an analytical approach to love in a wicked sort of way. Evan is the man that seems to have it all until tragedy leaves him twisting in the wind. Ever the calculator, he has a plan. Listen to his head, forget about his heart. His plans go up in smoke when his heart and his hormones come out to play. He finds the perfect candidate in his assistant, Nia. She’s a tough cookie with a soft heart and Evan finds himself quickly hooked. Yet love rarely turns out the way we want it to, without an abundance of heart and hard work. Can the guy who has lives for logic, find salvation by taking a leap of faith? More Than Crave You is a seduction of emotions. Nia and Evan are a tidal wave that will pull readers under a spell.
I definitely enjoyed reading More Than Crave You. It is Book 4 in the More Than Words series, but can be read as a standalone.
The best way to describe Evan is brilliant yet clueless, especially when it comes to dating and relationships. He was a bit frustrating to read and make a few mistakes, but your heart hurt for all he had been through. He suddenly lost his unborn child and wife and had decided that he can never love again. He never really dated and his wife had been his only relationship and lover, but now that they have both been gone for a few months he decides he wants a wife again, but not for love, just convenience. However, if he just opened his eyes he might just find not only what he wants but what he needs right in front of him.
Nia is the perfect match for Evan, the one to finally show him how to love even if he is too blind and stubborn to see it. She has been by his side for a very long time but he just didn’t see her the way she wanted him too.
This story had a good storyline with some twists thrown in and characters that you wanted to root for to find their happily ever after!
More Than Crave You is the 4th book in the More Than Words Series. They are written so you can read as a standalone each with their own HEA’s. But, you get so much more by reading them in order and discovering all the characters.
This is Evan Cook and Nia Wright’s story. We first met Evan in the previous book. Evan is a Billionaire tech entrepreneur and Nia is his assistant. Evan is a widower. After he loses his wife and unborn child in an accident and is grieving them. He has decided it’s been 6 months and he thinks he needs a wife to get his life back on track and places an ad for a wife. A very impersonal ad. Turns out his assistant may be the perfect person to fill his needs, or is she?
I think More Than Crave You is my favorite book in this series so far! I love that Nia is her own girl. She goes out of her way to let Evan know she isn’t into his money and that he can’t make her give up the things she loves. Evan is such a “caveman” when it comes to Nia. He thinks just because they are compatible in bed that is enough. Nia wants to think there will be love and Evan doesn’t think he can ever love again.
I love reading about Evan’s family and we keep discovering his dad is prolific in the making of kid department with all the half siblings that are finding about each other. I can’t wait to read the next book More Than Tempt You.
Evan, oh my, Evan. He is a logic thinker, loves spending time writing computer programs and tends to take this same approach to his life. After losing his wife and unborn child, he really isn’t sure how to proceed with his personal life. To me, it was hilarious when he sits down with his assistant, Nia, with an ad for a wife. His whole approach can be frustrating but also hilarious. Nia is the perfect match for Evan but she wants his heart. From that first time when Evan finally sees Nia as a woman, their sexual chemistry is combustible, full of so many sexy, sultry encounters. For a man that sees marriage as a business transaction, I enjoyed experiencing his awakening to see if he can break out of his analytical mode and embrace love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I loved this story – everything about it was just so right. From the frustration that you could feel in Evan when he couldn’t reason with Nia to the fear she felt that he wouldn’t never love her like he did his dead wife.
Evan and Nia’s relationship was a nice journey filled with laughter and tears. I loved how she wanted to help him find his (hidden) dominant side in bedroom. I loved that she was the experienced one, smart and with a strong sense of self-worth. Evan fitted in every category for a hot-nerdy MC; smart, good-looking, alfa just waiting to burst out…their dynamics was so fun to read and get to know.
My first by Shayla Black book and will definitely not be my last!

Nia Wright is Evan Cook’s Administrative Assistant. Evan Cook is a billionaire tech entrepreneur who has recently lost his pregnant wife in a tragic accident. He steps out of his office to Nia’s desk and asks her to help him place an ad for a wife; one main requirement is that no romance be involved. He is tired of being by himself but he is sure he can never love again. What Even doesn’t realize at that moment is that Nia is who he really wants. The journey Evan takes to realize this and that he is capable of love is filled with patience and understanding for Nia and stupid mistakes and revelations for Evan
More Than Crave You is the 4th book in author Shayla Black’s More Than Words series. This series has become a “must read” for me. From the very beginning this author has entralled me with marvelous emotional stories in this series. This book fits the series title perfectly because it is filled with truly beautifully words and sentiment. It’s also hot and sexy. Grab a glass of ice water, sit back and relax and enjoy this latest fantastic book from Shayla Black.
3.75 stars–MORE THAN CRAVE YOU is the fourth instalment in Shayla Black’s contemporary, adult MORE THAN WORDS erotic, romance series. This is billionaire tech entrepreneur and widower Evan Cook, and PA Nia Wright’s story line. MORE THAN CRAVE YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a continuing theme throughout focusing on the dysfunctional family dynamic of the Reed /Cook siblings.
Told from first person point of view (Evan) with one final chapter from Nia, MORE THAN CRAVE YOU follows the friends to lovers, unrequited love, marriage of convenience between billionaire tech entrepreneur and widower Evan Cook, and PA Nia Wright. Four months earlier Evan Cook lost his wife and unborn child to a car accident and in the ensuing months has lost his way. Hoping to find a ‘wife’ to take care of his personal and private affairs Evan asks his long suffering PA Nia Wright to place an ad looking for a wife. Unaware of Nia’s attraction to and affection for Evan, our hero continues to focus on the needs of a man more than romance and love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Nia and Evan, and the potential fall-out as Evan is unable to open his heart to the possibility of love and a happily ever after, and the belief that Nia is not the woman she appears to be.
Nia Wright is a successful and resourceful woman who never knew her father but was raised by a strong and beautiful woman who never lost faith in love. Having fallen in love with Evan Cook, Nia hopes for her own happily ever after but our hero remains reluctant for anything more than wanting a woman for a housewife and sex. Evan grew up in the foster care system and married the girl he rescued when young. Upon her death Evan found himself lost when it came to his home life including the basics of laundry and cleaning, a questionable result of growing up in the foster care system. Hoping to find a woman willing to cook and clean, Evan doesn’t see past his immediate needs including the woman with whom he will fall in love.
Meanwhile, the Colossus Investment Corporation, a large corporation headed by Douglas and his son Stephen Lund are hoping to buy Stratus Solutions from our story line hero but their offer of a billion dollars comes with several stipulations including the recruitment and continuing employment of Nia Wright. Throughout the story there is much back and forth regarding the buy-out offer, including the real reason Douglas Lund is so desperate for control of Stratus Solutions.
The relationship between Nia and Evan is a friends to lovers, unrequited love, marriage of convenience affair between two people whose views of marriage and love follow different paths and differing beliefs. Unable to let go of the past Evan claims to never want to fall in love while Nia wants love, family and so much more. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate.
All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles including Evan’s half siblings Maxon, Griff and Harlow. We are introduced to Evan’s best friend and CFO Sebastian Shaw who drops a bombshell that will change Evan’s life; financial investor Douglas Lund and his son Stephen, as well as Nia’s friends Lorenzo, Guilia, and Kyle.
MORE THAN CRAVE YOU is a story of family, friendship, secrets and lies, letting go and falling in love. There are a few twists and turns that you won’t see coming including more fall-out and revelations about the man who sired the Cook/Reed siblings. The character driven premise is provocative and emotional; the romance is seductive and erotic; the characters are stubborn, spirited and realistic. MORE THAN CRAVE YOU is a hopeful and energetic story.
MORE THAN CRAVE YOU by Shayla Black is the Fourth book in the More than Words series. This is the story of Evan Cook and Nia Wright. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Evan didn’t have the best childhood with no real love given. Yet he married a women he though he loved and had a child. But his wife died suddenly and thinking he wouldn’t be able to love again he thought to advertise for a wife. His assistant Nia is not sure about what he is going to find with this ad. They end up having a hot encounter that leads Evan to thinking that Nia would fit the bill for what he is looking for. But emotions start to overtake what he thought he wanted in this next marriage.
This was fun, hot and really hard to put down…loved it!
4 Star reviews of More Than Crave You (More Than Words #4) by Shayla Black
Well what can I say about Evan Cook? He may be a billionaire and a savvy businessmen but when it comes to common sense he hasn’t a clue. Now a widower, Evan decides that he needs a wife and places an add.
Evan doesn’t want to find love, all he wants is a relationship based on trust. After an unexpectedly hot night with his PA Nia Wright, he decides that he may as well marry her and stop the interview process. Sadly for Evan, Nia wants it all, including romance and love; the fact that she is in love with Evan means she doesnt want to settle and he is oblivious to her feelings. Nia is a strong, independent and highly capable woman who isn’t afraid to stand her ground and fight for what she wants; I loved her feisty manner and determination.
This was a story that pushed the buttons and was quite emotional at times. Not all goes to plan for either Evan or Nia and it is this that makes More Than Crave You a good book.
Once again Shayla Black does not disappoint!! The heart wrenching and highly emotional tale of Evan and Nia had me wiping tears from my cheeks and sighing with complete happiness. Emotionally handicapped Evan has had his life ripped from him with the tragic death of his wife and unborn child, but it takes the thought of a new beginning with his newly found siblings to make him realize that he needs to move on. But can a man who lost it all learn to love again? Or does he even understand what love is anymore? With beautifully written characters and a storyline that I could not put down this was a fabulous read. It needs more than 5 stars!!
