I need to hire a wife. But I only want my assistant. I’m Evan Cook—billionaire tech entrepreneur and widower. Professionally, I’ve got it all. But since my wife died, my personal life has fallen apart. Remarrying seems like the obvious answer, so I place an ad. I’m not asking for much. The ideal woman only needs to be smart, organized, pretty, and helpful—both in and out of bed—without expecting … helpful—both in and out of bed—without expecting romance. I never thought to look right in front of me…but it turns out that Nia Wright, my sexy, sassy assistant, just might be the perfect candidate.
After an unexpectedly hot night together, I’m ready to stop interviewing strangers and simply marry her. On paper, she ticks every box on my list. Best of all, she’s far too sensible to fall for me. I didn’t see the flaw in my logic until it was too late. I never thought I’d lose my heart for the first time. And I definitely never imagined Nia could consume me. But she’s harboring a secret that could tear us apart. Can I prove I more than crave her before it’s too late?

More than Crave You is the perfect blend of marriage of convenience and a steamy office romance. I loved it!
One of Shayla’s best books ever!!!! I absolutely adored the characters and the plot. She’s written a unique, sexy hero and the heroine is right up my alley–strong, smart, sexy. MUST READ.
Steamy and swoon-worthy office romance!
Shayla Black is always awesome, and More than Crave You is no exception!
Hot, hot, hot…you are never going wrong with one of Shayla’s books.
He’s got it all professionally. His personal life has fallen apart. Remarrying seems the obvious solution. The perfect answer is right under his nose, if he’s smart enough to win the heart of sexy and sassy assistant in this expressively emotional and passionate billionaire office romance. Evan and Nia are two bold characters that easily capture the heart and draw readers into their story. They sizzle with electrical chemistry, stir emotions and connect with readers from the beginning of this intensely satisfying story as Evan finally begins to realize that Nia has captured his heart no matter how much he strives to keep his heart out of it which keeps the relationship and the story on an emotional roller coaster and provides some entertaining arguments between the two.
The story is steady paced keeping readers engaged with lots of relationship suspense, gripping emotions and intense passion. Evan is pretty stubborn but readers can’t help but fall for this handsome billionaire because beneath his practical and logical side his heart beats with a vulnerability that strikes a chord with their hearts. This series just got even better with this emotionally gripping romance that produces chuckles and tears throughout as Evan tries to prove that he craves Nia with more than words.
This has been my favorite in this series. Nia and Evan completely broke my heart as they found their way to each other. Evan was such a different type of hero in the regards that he didn’t really know what love was since he didn’t have it growing up and he had married his high school girlfriend thinking he loved her. As his feelings and craving for Nia develop it opens a whole new world for him. He never wanted feelings and love, but Nia deserves everything. I cried real tears for Evan and Nia as they struggled down their path. Evan made me want to just wrap him up and hug him for all of the things he has missed in his life. Never saw the end coming which I absolutely loved! Great read and I can’t wait for more in this series!
More Than Crave You is the fourth book in the (More Than Words series) and although they can be read as standalones, there were several references to things that happened in the previous three. The main characters who are Evan’s half siblings make a big impact in the storyline as well. Having read their stories first would have been helpful, but thankfully not essential. I wasn’t left scratching my head in confusion.
This story features Evan Cook and is executive assistant Nia Wright. Theirs was a platonic relationship as boss/ employee until Evan decided he needed a wife to help him sort out the mess his life has become since losing his wife in a car accident six months earlier.
Through a series of crazy and sometimes ridiculous events, Evan finally starts seeing Nia for what she really is. A beautiful intelligent and sexy woman, and he wants her.
To be that wife.
He needs to win her around and he whisks her away to a tropical paradise to get her to see things his way. But Nia needs more than pretty things and soft touches. She needs love and that’s the one thing Evan believes he’s incapable of giving.
He loved his wife… or so he thought. After reading about the childhoods and their marriage, you might be like me and think differently. But, of course, it’s Evan who has to change his mindset.
Can he?
Will he?
Will it be enough, or in time?
“Why do I turn caveman every time a man looks at her? I can’t understand it. I’ve never behaved this way in my life.”
Woo Hoo! I’ve been beside myself excited to get my hands on Evan’s story after meeting him in More Than Love You. I was so intrigued after learning his coldhearted plans to find a wife like it was a business deal. I just knew some badass woman was gonna show him what love is supposed to feel like and blow his mind.
What can I say, I got my wish. His assistant is perfection and I love her character. She shows him exactly what he’s been missing all his life. This poor nerd has got to start using the other side of his brain if he’s gonna keep up with her. She’s full of sweetness and sass and refuses to obey orders outside of the office, boardroom… or bedroom. He might be the boss, but she’s the one with all the power until he can convince her to marry him. What will it take for him to close the deal?
I loved this emotional story about a man that swears he’s incapable of love. He promises he’ll be a “responsible, faithful, and dependable husband” but she wants more. When he finally realizes that what he feels is More Than Crave You, will it be too late to claim the one that has claimed his heart without him knowing it? And when her secret finally comes to light, will he still want her? I’m excited to report this isn’t the end of the series, there is more goodness to look forward to. The line forms here…
Evan Cook is a man who craves many things, and because he’s a billionaire tech entrepreneur, he can pretty much have anything he desires, but after grieving his deceased wife for six months, he’s ready to claim another bride, not because he’s ready to love again; in fact, he actually refuses to do that, partly because he doesn’t think he understands or is capable of love.
So this time around, Evan is going to proceed in his quest for a wife like he would with any other business deal, which means that emotions and love aren’t going to matter; it’s all about finding the woman who fits what his life needs. Evan is all about practicality and if he needs to advertise in order to get the kind of woman he wants to share his life with then that’s what he’ll do because his lifestyle and his demeanor require his life to be meticulously planned out, leaving no room for misunderstandings or an overload of emotions because that’s just not the way he’s programmed.
Nia Wright is Evan’s right-hand woman and she’s damn good at her job, but she also lives her life fully, experiencing the ups and downs and the highs and lows of life and absorbing as much as she can, which is nothing like the way that Evan lives, so the fact that he wants/needs Nia to fill the role of his wife is not going to be something she’ll acquiesce to…she’s not someone who will just copulate to his demands because as analytically brilliant as Evan is, he is equally as inexperienced
and naive to the ways of women and their emotions.
Shayla Black does a good job of illustrating who Evan is throughout the course of the story, but while it’s clear that he’s a unique hero, his uniqueness actually makes it difficult to fully connect with him. Evan is as left brained as a person could be, and it’s that analytical mind that makes things more complicated than they should be, overthinking what needs to be done instead of simply allowing himself to feel his way through life. Romance readers will definitely be intrigued by Evan and how he chooses to lead his life, but they’ll also be frustrated with the fact that he won’t allow himself to let emotions in…to stop analyzing every part of his and Nia’s past as well as what their relationship should look like now as he attempts to analytically woo her to be his bride.
I enjoyed More Than Crave You, but I can’t say that I loved it. The fact that Nia’s perspective is not a part of the story line is a bit problematic for me. Evan is so analytically minded that he can’t quite grasp the magnitude of what he’s asking Nia to do for him, not understanding in the slightest that she wants a real marriage let alone a real relationship and it doesn’t seem he can give that to her but because readers never ‘hear’ her side of things, it makes it extremely difficult to truly gain perspective about how Nia feels and why she’s even given thought to being with Evan in any capacity at all beyond his assistance.
Evan and Nia’s story is definitely unique in the marriage of convenience trope, and there were a number of things that worked for me in the story line, but Evan’s personality and the almost non-existent voice of Nia made me struggle through parts of the book because I never truly felt like I grasped either characters’ true feelings or what was at stake by Nia eventually giving into her feelings for Evan and even his demands.
3.5/4 Poison Apples
A terrific addition to a fabulous series! If you love office romance you will love this book.
Just as with every previous book this one was a grand slam! Nia and Evan are one of my top book couples of this year! They have this amazing “best friend “ type relationship. I know I know she works for him but it’s so much more. I just loved watching them interact and grow together in this amazing story. Each book can be read as a standalone but I recommend in order just because past characters are intertwined. Thank you for another wonderful story!
Nia and Evans story is a great addition to the wonderful series. The way the story is built I did not want to put this book down. Nia is strong and brilliant where Evan is smart and lost, but they make each other whole when they are together. This was a story with some twists that I was not expecting. Shayla Black did not disappoint. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Because you always get to see what’s going on with all of the other couples for this series.
Sweet, romantic inner office fresh take on the More Than Words series that I really liked with the bi-racial aspect. More Than Crave You by Shayla Black is a hot as hell novel with a CEO who needs a wife ASAP and looks no further than his long standing assistant. But even though their chemistry is sizzling, she needs love… can he conjure up his inner feelings and give her the love she deserves?
”There are infinite ways to tell someone you love them. Some of the most powerful don’t require words at all.
Shayla has a way with words and this series does just that.each of these books, especially More Than Words will suck you in, hold you captive and make you crave the next book to come! Well done Shayla!
Evan is smart and rich. He should be happy, right? He was until his wife and unborn child were killed in an auto accident. Thank goodness at his business he had Nia to help him keep his shi*t together for work. He decides to place an ad in the paper to buy a wife and Nia shuts it down immediately because of the gold diggers he’ll attract. She asks him to let her place the ad. Then he gets the bright idea that Nia should be his next wife! She still goes through potential candidates for him to marry. These candidates were interesting lol! Can he woo her into marrying him for money, stability and to have a husband that’ll care for her. She’ll never have to want for anything.
Nia is a strong, self sufficient woman and when Evan proposes to her….it was a shocker. Secretly, she’s been pining away for him for years. But, he was married and she’d never cross that line. But now…what he’s offering is nice but, what she wants really is love and children. Plus the fact that he’s still mourning his wife and unborn child.
Interesting story with many twists and turns!! It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat because there were scenarios playing out that I hadn’t even thought about!!
I’m not familiar with the author’s work nor with this series! This book can be read as a standalone, so don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous ones!
Evan has just lost his wife and unborn child in a car accident. Being devastated he decides to not love again and that’s why he’s looking for a contract marriage (I love those :-D). Nia, his very efficient executive assistant catches his eye and peaks his interest. Evan is seriously clueless when it come to emotions. He needs some pushing to really understand what he’s feeling.
The story has some nice twists, that keeps it interesting. I really enjoyed Evan and Nia’s story and I really want to read the previous books as well!
This book was a great read. Shayla Black made this another of her true love stories. Evan and Nia are meant to be together. She completes him in the personal and business life. They are completely opposite but it works for them. This book has love and loss in it but still has a happy ending for the couple. Shayla Black titled this book wonderfully. I love the family aspect of the book too. – By kristina
Not my favorite book of this series but once I finished it I felt better about it. I started it & put it down a couple times and am glad I finally finished it. Each story is a part of each other & I’m sure I’ll need this information for the next one.
Evan (& Nia) needed the HEA. This story had a lot going on from both Evan & Nia’s sides, a lot to understand, work through & overcome. The road to happiness isn’t easy but through the journey I think Evan learned a lot about himself, about others and about emotions. Excited to see who the next story is about. I have some thoughts but we’ll see.
The Reed family is back with their half brother Evan we met in the last book and I have to say it’s the stubborn family gene at work again. Evan is a widower with a billion-dollar company that he started from the ground up. He is stubborn, incapable of love (so he says), smart, and sexy. When he tells his assistant Nia to put an ad in the paper for a wife I am like “Whatttttt?”. I was dying of laughter from the things he wanted in a wife and one being he didn’t want love. When Nia reads the ad, she tries to give him other options on finding a woman such as falling in love and getting married that way. One night when he goes out with a friend he sees Nia on a stage dancing and he stops fighting his attraction. They have a night of passion where Evan begins to feel guilty because of his wife that is gone. After a few days of thinking he goes to Nia with a proposal of marriage but she makes he date her before she gives him an answer. All the while Nia tries to tell him she will only marry for love, but can he find it in his stubborn heart to love another woman.
This story was filled with so much and its has all you would want in a story line. There is romance, love, secrets and revenge from the past that will come into play. Nia and Evan together are intense, and they heat up the bedroom, office and other places we will not name right now. I love Evan in this story even though he could be all left brain most of the time. He was a logical thinker and never let feelings come into the equation. Nia wanted a happily ever after because of the way she grew up and she knew she deserved to be loved. When you read about a Reed though you can expect them to be blind to their feelings. You can read this in one sitting and it had my attention right from the first page. You will love the new Reed brother in this new novel by Shayla.
Shayla Black delivers with great characters, an interesting plot and more steam than you could imagine! Love all her books!
