All she wanted was a kiss… discover her in his embrace. Naturally, marriage is instantly mentioned, but since Emily knows this is not what Griffin wants, she tries to escape him, her family and the ensuing scandal.
When Emily flees the Camberly ball in the wake of their kiss, Griffin goes in pursuit. He will not allow his sister-in-law’s determined friend to risk her safety for any reason. And risk it she will if she means to return to her countryside home by herself. But the longer he remains in her company, the more he is tempted to kiss her again. If only he could risk falling in love and remain in England forever.

Griffin and Emily needed a bit of persuasion to realize that they loved each other but in the end there was no denying it. The characters in this story were so much fun and the story was unique and exciting. Great story

I love this story and I can’t wait to read No Ordinary Duke before the rest of the series publishes! I gathered from my reading that readers had met Emily and Griffin in the previous book, but I honestly did not feel any loss by not having read it first so if you want to start here, it is perfectly fine!
What I love most about historical/regency romance fiction is that almost all the stories/journeys are fueled by a push/pull from the leads. They’re very anticipatory and for me, this type of seduction is very appealing. It makes me root for the leads even more! Well, these two danced around each other quite a bit and did it quite well! Emily was a strong character and very willful and Griffin was the perfect match for her!
There’s a lot of what I call shenanigans in the book, which for this story just means they were both stubborn as mules LOL But it was riddled with lovely humor and wonderful side characters I can’t wait to read more about (hopefully lol)!
My first read by Ms Barnes and I’m super stoked to start adding her books to my TBR!
More Than A Rogue tells the story of two people with some major insecurities to overcome before they can reach a sweet and satisfying HEA. Emily Howard just wants a kiss. So firmly on the shelf that she has given up on marriage, a stolen kiss in the night seems like such a little thing. Griffin Crawford rescues Emily from an unwise embrace only to find himself kissing her as her mother and friends look on. A compromising situation leave both of them resisting marriage but honor demands Griffin not leave Emily unprotected as she flees London. Time away in the country leave the unchaperoned couple with more time to realize how perfect they are for each other. Two people that protest too much and a slow building attachment that can end in nothing but smiles for the reader even when insecurities throw a wrench in the works. This book is a feel good, easy read that lightens the heart of the weariest romance reader. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
A charming story with interesting main characters. They find that they have at least one thing in common. They were both running from the mold that their parents meant for them to fit in.
Griffin was touchy about the scar that was on his face. There is a sad story to go with the how he got the scar. But he is surprised when Emily tells him that she doesn’t think it detracts from his handsomeness. Griffin finds her bold honesty refreshing if not at times somewhat startling. He observes that she does and says the most unexpected things! They make a pact at one point that during the time they are spending together that they will speak with total honesty to each other.
Both Emily and Griffin are in major denial when it comes to their attraction to each other. Emily is an honorable woman who does NOT want to trick a man into marriage. She also has to deal with her clueless but manipulative mother whose whole goal is to get her married. And also move on and get Emily’s sister in an advantageous marriage as well. She seems willing to get it done by hook or by crook.
Both M.C’s are fighting that push to get them married. Well, until about 40% on my kindle when Griffin begins to plan to secretly court Emily anyway. Well, at that point it was more like he was intrigued by her and thought to seduce her. Things don’t go exactly as planned. Feelings start getting in the way.
There aren’t a lot of surprises until things start heading to the end of the book. Then one unpleasant truth comes out and another unexpected engagement comes out. Now that engagement was a surprise because there wasn’t even a glimpse of them about to become a couple.
Included is a look into Book #1 “No Ordinary Duke”. This is the story about Caleb who is Griffin’s brother and was in this book also. It is Caleb and Mary’s story.

All she wanted was a kiss…
Emily Howard knows she is destined to be a spinster. She has accepted this fate, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to experience kissing. So at a ball she heads out to the terrace with Mr Bale hoping for a kiss, what she doesn’t expect, is for Griffin Crawford, the handsomest man in the world, to rush out to rescue her & then to do the honours. It’s just her luck for all her female relations to discover her in his embrace. Emily flees the Camberly ball & Griffin goes in pursuit. He will not allow his sister-in-law’s determined friend to risk her safety for any reason.
A well written book with well portrayed characters. I did find the pace of the book stalled at times so I felt it didn’t flow smoothly. Whilst I liked both Griffin & Emily I didn’t love them & I wasn’t totally convinced by their love until the epilogue, which I thought was truly lovely. The path to their HEA isn’t smooth with lack of communication, secrets, other suitors & a meddling mother but it does make for an interesting read. This is the second book in the series & it could easily be read on its own, however I have to read a series in order & from the beginning so as ever I’d recommend reading the first book to enrich the enjoyment of this book
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Less than perfect becomes a love of a lifetime. More than a Rogue steals it’s way into your heart with a swoonworthy hero, a tempestuous romance and an enchanting heroine. Emily loses her heart, just as she finds her voice. One reckless act has her emotions all over the place and her body determined to fight her heart every step of the way. Barnes continues to mesmerize with wonderful characters and heartstopping romance.
A story for all, with some twists and surprising moments…
A strong young lady… in search of true love or to live to help children…
A young lord… that love the mechanisms…
A scandal and a travel… some day spent together and … the birth of a love and trust…
A story that will kept reading until the end…
