I’ve read and fallen in love with the authors Montgomery Brothers series (a must read) so reading this seemed like a good idea.
I’ll admit, I’m not one for the rockstar genre, but this one…. this one had me screaming for more!!!
Jade is going to college to study to be a doctor. It’s something she’s always dreamed of, but it means living on campus.
Her dad is her world, she has an extended family of grandparents and firemen that work with her dad, but it’s been her and him for many years.
Jade wants a forever love, the one her mother and father had. Not yet, but one day, today she’s off to start her college years.
Cruz is not your usual rockstar, he loves the music, he loves his band, he’s just not the party all night type. He wants to go his own way, to do this own thing, he wants a back up plan and his love art gives him an outlet.
His father is all for trying to discourage that idea!! A rockstar is the way forward!
Cruz doesn’t date, he’s a one time only dude! He doesn’t have female friends either, but Jade brings out so many confusing emotions, at first it was curiosity, then amusement, and the more time he spends with her, the more he sees her as bright spot in his dark day!
He thinks of kissing her more and more, but he needs her as his biology tutor more, so keeping his hands to himself is top priority, but it’s getting harder and harder.
This one is all about the beginning of young love, your first love, and if your really luck, your only love.
As they grow closer you’d think it would be ok. Oh no!!! That would be too simple!! Outside forces try to keep them apart. Idiot band members, over protective family members, drugs, fires and a few unexpected surprises!!
Jade knows in which direction she is going, being with Cruz just confuses her, she’s scared that if she falls too hard she’ll never recover.
Cruz admires the determination and drive that Jade has, he wants to leave the band, take his brother out of that toxic environment and just be with Jade. But his life is never that simple (with an overbearing father Lennon will never stand up for himself) he’s becoming more and more intoxicated with her, he can’t give her up…..
I love reading the journal parts (the journal belonged to her mother) it gives us an insight to the woman that gave birth to Jade.
There are so many characters in this book, but I couldn’t find a superfluous one, they all had a part to play, a part in this wonderful story.
From the girl (the roommate and groupie) to best friends. Jade also gets to meet the band members. She likes them all except for Dex. I really didn’t like Dex (frenemy) you know he’s going to be trouble.
This reminds me of a Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire (another beautiful read) boy meets girl, boy realises he’s not good enough for girl.
It’s a trilogy, and although I usually like my stories wrapped up in one book, there is far too much to cram into one book.
There are lighthearted moments in this book, there is also sadness. There is Cruz trying to find his way in the world, and the more time he spends with Jade, the more her world is appealing and his isn’t!
But Cruz has obligations, Jade has commitments, how can these two make it work?
And when the band goes on tour, it could finally split the pair up!!
I could go on and on and on…. but instead I’ll urge you to pick this one up (but be prepared to want books 2 and 3)
This is book one of a trilogy. Good girl and bad boy meet in college and fall in love. I’m not usually a fan of continuing stories but this does not end in a cliffhanger
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Love, love, love the characters in this book. I felt so connected to both of them throughout the story! Great writing with an intriguing plot! I always love an opposites attract and help each other grow story. Can’t wait for book two!
Jade has a plan – go to Northwestern, study her butt off, graduate in three years and get into medical school. What she wasn’t planning on was Cruz. Cruz the walking contradiction, lead singer in band who didn’t want to go onto fame and stardom, just wanted to get his degree and live a normal life. But everyone knows what they say about best laid plans . . . .
I adored this book so hard. It gave me all the feels, laughter, love, heartbreak, there were ugly tears. I was really worried about how this book would play out from the way that the two MCs first meet (Jade walks in on her roommate and Cruz “together”) it kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I didn’t want him to be a man slut. Turns out he wasn’t the roommate was so all good. But these two together was the sweetest thing every. I loved their relationship and their banter and their communication. I loved that there were no secrets . . . well except that one that that was awful and Jade should have told them but it made them so much stronger. Gah – I want more of them and their sweet love.
I fell in love with Cruz and Jade and THEIR love! It’s a rock star romance, but not in the way you’re used to…there’s a lot more to their story, and I cannot WAIT for the next book!
More Jade by Laura Pavlov is the first book in a series that sets up the romance between a musician and the good girl. Jade has goals and is determined to meet them. Cruz is an up and coming musician with plans for more. When they meet and get to know each other, there is something there. Their chemistry is undeniable and just loved watching them fall. This story sets up their romance and I cannot wait to see what is to come for this couple.
Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading.
I am new to Laura Pavlov, but I am so in love! Rock Star stories are one of my favorite troupes – and More Jade was done right! Cruz and Jade are amazing! I love everything about this book! I cannot wait for more! FIVE STARS!!
More Jade is the first novel in the “Love You More Rock Star Romance” series by new to me author Laura Pavlov. I enjoyed this story immensely. It is a super sweet, swoon worthy, slow-burn romance that is laid out in such a way that you are drawn in from the first chapter to the last. I swear, I was completely captivated the whole way through.
I cannot imagine a single reader not falling head over heels in love with Jade and Cruz. Separately these characters are fantastic, but together they are the perfect pair. Their chemistry oozes from the pages, and their friends-to-lover’s story takes your breath away. I loved the dynamic between these two leads and the way their attraction and relationship bloomed.
More Jade is light on the angst, heavy on the romance and an absolute delight to read. It is unique, addicting, compelling and utterly amazing. I adored every minute of this book and cannot say enough good things. It’s a total winner and one that you need to read. I can’t wait to see what’s up next for Jade and Cruz!
I was hooked after the first 10 pages and I couldn’t put it down. I love romance and this one brought back memories of falling for a bad boy. The story is very well written and I loved all of the characters and how they made everything come life.
Cruz is the handsome, rich, arrogant bad boy musician taking what is usually given freely to him. Although after meeting Jade for the first time, he may have met his match.
Jade is beautiful, but doesn’t know it, so pair that with simple minded, but brilliant, calling things the way she sees it and you have More Jade. I am looking forward to reading more about these two.
I was sent this book and was happy to give my honest review. JKSlovestoread/JudyKU/LuvsKU
This is a first read for by this author for me.
After I read this blurb I was all excited. I love when a good bad boy falls in love for the first time lol.
And that was Cruz! I mean you get to see how much of a bad boy he was in the very first chapter within the first few pages lol. Not it kinda threw me off after that but I mean he said he is all sex and booze.
But that was one hell of a way for Jade to meet him lol. I loved Jade. I love sassy, smart heroines. Loved all her comebacks she threw at Cruz.
I will said I felt like this was kinda dragged along and repeated some things but I mean I get it as it is the first book in the series and there was a lot that needed to get covered. I really liked this book but hate having to wait to find out what happens next lol. I was NOT expecting this to be a cliffy hahaha.
4⃣.5⃣
recommendation
Rockstar romances are my catnip and whenever I come across one I can’t help but pick it up. Never having read Ms. Pavlov before though I didn’t know what to expect, but what I got utterly charmed me and introduced me to my newest book boyfriend…Cruz Winslow. From their awkward first meeting to their tear-filled HFN conclusion, the main couple of this story completely captivated me and had me rooting for them every step of the way.
Cruz Winslow seems to have it all as the son of a wealthy producer and popular model, rocking out on stage on the weekends with his brother while waiting for their band to get signed. He’s sexy with a sultry voice and attracts women of all ages like any other rockstar, but it’s all for show and beginning to take a toll on him. Playing music is something he enjoys but he has other dreams he’d rather pursue, but out of love and fear over his brother’s sobriety he’s committed to making their band a success. Meeting the studious Jade changes his life irrevocably though and gives readers a sweet and endearing romance that still makes me want to smile as her tutoring him has them growing closer together. Time together has them discovering hidden layers to each other while pushing towards their desired goals in a romance light on angst and heavy on heartwarming moments. Cruz is a delicious hero who seems like a jerk early on but who quickly redeems himself. He takes his wealth for granted early on, but seeing how Jade lives opens his eyes and has him going out of his way to give her everything she’s missed out on which endeared him to me. Making her happy made him happy. Money can’t buy happiness though when it comes to his dysfunctional parents. While he’s somewhat close to his mother it’s his father who does the most damage to his psyche. Seeing his son’s talent he’s focused on them becoming rockstars and decries their going to college, using it to manipulate them into doing what he wants. Even worse is their parent’s alcohol and drug abuse which Cruz’s brother Lennon is starting to dabble in. It all makes for a family that has hardened Cruz’s heart and has him valuing Jade, and her loving father, all the more.
Jade Moore lost her mother when she was young but her memory has driven Jade ever since her death when Jade was 5 years old. Her parents being soul mates has fueled her desire to wait for the right man to give herself to and the need to help others (when her mother couldn’t be helped) has her wanting to become a doctor. To achieve her goals Jade’s become a studious and regimented young woman, one who doesn’t believe in drinking heavily or losing control. Going to college introduces her to all sorts of new things though and has her taking a few baby steps to living the college lifestyle. While she expects a bit of drinking and dancing, what she doesn’t expect is falling for the bad boy rockstar who shows her his heart of gold as they slowly lay the foundation for their romance of opposites attracting. It’s a romance that sees her coming out of her shell a bit, taking more chances, knowing that Cruz will be there to pick her up if she falls. She may have started off a bit judgmental but as the story progressed she became bolder, particularly in her scenes with Cruz that saw her going after something she wanted…him. Theirs is a romance that charmed me, with each heartwarming and sensual encounter I was left wanting more, and by the turn of the final page I’m left feeling that the real test for them is yet to come.
From the very start I was pulled into this book with its characters that were perfectly imperfect at times. Cruz especially won me over, showing his hidden heart of gold courtesy of a good woman who gave him the love and support his parents should’ve given him. His wholehearted love and support for his brother Lennon made me love him even more and was yet another example of how much he was willing to sacrifice for others. Jade grew in my eyes too, becoming a heroine worthy of admiration as she looked past the facade to see the kindhearted man beneath the rockstar veneer and it added to their already entertaining journey to HFN. Surrounding this likable main couple was an equally memorable cast of secondary characters, some who I liked and some who were toxic. Thankfully there wasn’t too many characters I wanted to strangle other than Jade’s first roommate Meghan (a petty and jealous groupie) and Cruz’s bandmate Dex (who’s truly nasty and enjoys tearing people down) who’s quick to tattle to Cruz’s daddy to get his way. Their scenes felt like intrusions but their actions pushed the story into dramatic directions that ultimately enhanced the story. The characters that caught my attention the most were Jade’s father, Cruz’s brother Lennon, and the other member of Exiled, Adam. Jade and her father were exactly what a parent/child relationship should be as he encouraged her to live life to the fullest while making sure she was aware of danger. They always treated each other with love and respect and I thoroughly enjoyed their scenes together. Lennon and Adam were an interesting flip of the coin when it came to living like a rockstar and I’m truly invested now in where things go for the band. I’m also feeling concern over what long distance will do to Jade and Cruz, but I’m also hopeful as their love so far has proved pretty enduring. On a whole here’s to this first installment in what promises to be a heartwarming and heartbreaking rockstar romance!
More Jade by Laura Pavlov
Rockstar romances are one of my favourite tropes but More Jade is not your average rockstar romance!
Cruz is the ‘bad boy’ lead singer who is not quite sure that a recording contrwcy for his band is what he’s looking for. His first encounter with Jade is perhaps not quite the ideal meeting but he convinces her to help tutor him in biology and they quickly become friends.
Jade is the good girl who dreams of studying medicine in NYC. After loosing her mother at a young age she takes to reading her mother’s journals and taking guidance from them.
I really enjoyed reading this book although the way the book ended certainly took me by surprise. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment of Cruz and Jade’s story.
Rate: 5/ 5 stars
Laura Pavlov managed to steal my heart with this college and rockstar romance combo. Jade and Cruz made me soft from the get go.
Cruz’s life is already filled with all the glamour, fakeness and drugs of a rockstar life even before their band goes big, thanks to his father’s money. His family is nothing like a typical family, they are the opposite of a loving supporting family and my heart broke for Cruz and all that he had to put up with for his brother and all that he is willing to give up for him too. Things are so complicated and I know the future will be even more so. Going on tour with two bandmates who easily get lost to the money and drug side of the rockstar life is bound to cause some ruckus and trouble. I’m scared of what the future will look like for Cruz.
Jade found the love of her life when she least expected it and everything is perfect until her boyfriend’s band gets signed. Now, they won’t get to spend so much time together. She’ll be working on her degree while Cruz goes on to tour the country. I can’t wait to see how they’ll deal with the long distance and all the things that may arise on the way
This couple owned my heart. I adore them so much. Their first encounters were funny and Jade gave Cruz plenty of sass and I loved that about her. Jade is not your typical nerd or virgin heroine. She had so much sass, determination and strength in her. I love this girl. And Cruz is definitely not your typical arrogant, selfish rockstar either. He has so much heart and is so selfless. I flew in love with him. He was so sweet and the way he fell for Jade and was so soft for her. Swoon.
More Jade is the first book in a trilogy. It is not your typicaly rockstar romance but is just as good if not better. I simply cannot wait for book 2 and 3, I just need more of these two stat. I even tried to read this book slowly so I had more time with these characters, that’s how much I adored them. I can’t wait for more of Jade and Cruz and their friends too.
This was an unexpected NA Rockstar romance. I didn’t expect to like Cruz after the way we met him, but it didn’t take long for me to warm up to him!
Jade and Cruz are opposites, and they definitely attract. This was a very satisfying coming of age NA romance with Rockstar and friends-to-lovers elements. If any of those are your thing, you’ll love it!
I really enjoyed reading the start of this amazing relationship between Cruz and Jade. I fell in Love with Cruz instantly and Jade is a great heroine.
I already knew from reading the blurb that I would enjoy this story and I did. The characters are all so well written and you just can‘t do anythinf other than just love them and support them in everyway.
I liked that this book wasn‘t full of unnecessary drama but I‘m still hoping to get a little bit more in the next book. The aspect of her mothers journal is a really great idea and it helps to understand some of the thought process of Jade.
Honestly can‘t wait to read more from Jade and Cruz!
4.5 Jade and Cruz meet each other in an uncomfortable situation her first day moving in to her college dorm. This awkward moment sets the tone for their future encounters until he convinces her of tutoring him to past a science class. She is an honor student with her goal set in medical school. He is the lead singer of a rock band that is about to break through. Have you her the term opposites attracts? Well this couldn’t be more accurate for Jade and Cruz, they are different as water and oil, but they complement each other in a way that only soulmates do. Theirs is not an easy ride, and events on the book are going to break your heart. However, their love story is only starting, I can’t wait to see how it concludes in the next installment. Laura Pavlov does an astonishing job with her words guiding us through Jade and Cruz’s love story, this is my first book by her and definitively not the last.
Laura is a new author for me, so I was very excited to read her words. More Jade is book one of a trilogy. It doesn’t end with a major cliffhanger, so don’t fear, it sets it nicely for book 2.
Jade is a bright, hardworking nineteen year old is starting her journey into becoming a medical doctor. It’s on her first day at uni where she meets the cocky (literally), hot and very charismatic Cruz Winslow, the lead singer of an up-and-coming band, on the break of signing a record deal.
While you would think Cruz was the bad boy Rock Star, he is so different from other lead singers…..he’s the reluctant Rock Star that wants to have a back up plan. He knows deep down this is not the life for him. Through his relationship with his Jade he realises this more. She makes him see alot of things so much clearer. Cruz was such a wonderful character, his home life, while filled with all the money and perks, courtesy of his celebrity of a father, he’s lacked so much love from his parents during his life and feels totally responsible for his brother’s happiness and stability. He’s always looking out for everyone else and not himself.
Jade too is a great character, has a wonderful relationship with her dad and is very responsible. She compliments Cruz so much and I can’t wait to see where their journey goes in book 2.
A great read, I loved Laura’s writing. More Jade was a pleasure to read and it really made me want to go and visit Chicago!
Go Wildcats!
More Jade had me hooked from the opening pages. I adore the characters and the chemistry they have. Jade and Cruz have the whole opposites attract thing going on and they made it work. I wasn’t aware that this is Book 1 in a trilogy but on the plus side there wasn’t a major cliff at the end. Laura Pavlov is a new to me author. I look forward to the next instalment in this trilogy.
Remember me? Queen of “I can’t do New Adult Romance because I am old AF!” Well, apparently, I sometimes can totally do NA books. Enter Laura Pavlov and her newest release, More Jade.
This story tells us about Cruz Winslow, atypical college bad boy rockstar and incoming freshman good girl with a sweet yet snarky attitude, Jade Moore. Jade and Cruz had me from the beginning, and what got me was the subtle snark of Jade’s personality. I loved her from page one through to the end.
What some of my followers may find disappointing is, this is a cliffhanger! Yes, More Jade is part one of a trilogy! I didn’t realize that when I started reading, so when I got toward the end of the book and nothing was really wrapping up, I thought, “Oh God, please don’t let this be a cliffy.” But much to my dismay, it is. Now, would that stop me from reading the book? No, it’s more of a happy for now, and the cliffy isn’t huge, but still, there it is, and now I’ve got to wait for two more books until Jade and Cruz get their HEA! I can’t help it; I’m so impatient.
Take everything you know about rock star romances and toss it out the window before raising it several levels. More Jade is the first in a new trilogy rock star romance that follows Jade and Cruz through a whirlwind.
The format allows Jade, Cruz, and their relationship to overflow with depth and nuance. Even the side characters are fully formed and leap off the pages. The story is so much more than a single relationship – it encompasses the web of relationships between all the characters.
Jade is the good girl next door who is full of heart and plans for her future. She is self-assured in her goals in life and pursues them with a determination that is awe-inspiring. Cruz is the bad boy singer in a local rock band that is on the cusp of making it big. While they shouldn’t work, the more time they spend together, the more they like what they see.
What I really loved was seeing their relationship bloom. They took their time, establishing a solid friendship that slowly evolves into something more romantic and meaningful. There is a lot of uncertainty about the future and how they will handle it, but they are a team that is wholly devoted to each other.
The way these two love each other will steal your breathe away and leave you devouring the pages, eager for more. I can’t get enough of them and am eager to see what the next installment of their story brings!
