I highly recommend this book
Very enjoyable mystery/thriller. Samantha is not overly concerned about manipulating the truth as long as she gets her clients off. But she is devoted to her work as a defense attorney, is strong and brave and not afraid to confront when necessary. I also loved her last book “Blood Defense “.
This was an intriguing and spellbinding book, however because I had not read book one in this series, I always felt just a little out of step. They can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend that they be read in order. The characters are complex, and just about the time you think you have them figured out Ms. Clark introduces another facet to their personalities that make you rethink your conclusions. The plot has more twists and turns than a country road in the mountains. I ended up with a love/hate relationship with almost all of the characters, none of them are all good or bad, but a complex mix of both. Two thumbs up, and I personally will be reading a lot more from this author.
I liked the plot of this book and normally would have given it at least 4 stars. However, I kept running into details that didn’t make sense … or seemed out of order.
An example is on one page Samantha (lawyer) and Alex (her investigator) have left the high school where they had confronted a couple of the jocks on the basketball team. Alex is driving, headed back to their office, and he and Sam are discussing what they found out. About a half page later, it is said that Alex has pulled into the parking garage under the building where their office is located. The conversation continues. Then the next thing you read is that they have passed a KFC (where? in the parking garage?) and stop to get food to take back to the office.
That’s just the one that stands out because it was the latest one. But there were many times where things seemed to be slightly out of sequence. I would go back and read it again and sure enough it didn’t make sense. I can overlook these if it’s only once or twice, but this book had just too many mistakes like this which took away from my enjoying the book.
As cliche-ed as it sounds, Marcia Clark delivers again with this page-turner that will force you to stay up late to get to the end. Moral Defense is the second Samantha Brinkman novel. In it, Sam must grapple with her past after she’s thrust into defending a client whose motive hits too close to home.
I’m surprised at myself for how entertaining and at times refreshing I find Samantha Brinkman’s actually rather unorthodox and questionable approach to practicing law!
I really wanted to like this book but just could not into it. A real non-starter.
I didn’t agree with the main character
Avery enjoyable read Good to the last page..
I’ll be reading more amarcia Clark after this
Enjoyed the characters, story line & author.
Marcia Clark writes a good story. This was hard to predict. There were many twists and reversals. I really enjoyed it.
I loved this book, and would highly recommend it!
I love Marcia Clark’s mysteries and this one did not disappoint. Great characters, clever plots and realistic dialogue make me wish there were more I hadn’t yet read.
Excellent read, as usual, from Marcia Clark. Two intertwining stories, easy to follow, but keeps you guessing to the very end. She knows how to tell a story.
Moving very slow. Haven’t finished it yet.
I just started reading this author. I was very impressed with the way she writes. I have read 4 other books of hers so far and will continue to read this author.
