Baseball shouldn’t be a game of life and death…
The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase…he started out a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a God yet … God yet partied like a Devil.
I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

Part sports romance. Part romantic suspense. Kind of a mess. But I still read it cover-to-cover in 3 hours, so what does that say about me? Hmmmm……
STILL one of my favorite reads ever. The perfect blend of romance and suspense, cleverly woven together in a plot that will keep your eyes glued to the pages. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
What a wonderful book. A book you don’t see coming, the cover draws you in and the first chapter leaves you wanting more, all the chapters leave you wanting to know what’s going to happen next. I loved the characters, the plot twists, the story line. It’s heartbreaking and wonderful, you’re left with a very satisfying end.
This book was AMAZING!!! The fact that my favorite baseball team,The New York Yankees was a huge part of the story made my day. I grew up in the Bronx and was 4 train stops away from the old Yankee Stadium. This book brought back a lot of memories for me! But anyway let’s get back on track. This story completely blew me away. The writing was excellent. The plot was crazy. I felt such a range of different emotions while reading. I was up, down, happy and sad. I was gutted and devastated. Ty and Chase, OMG, I love them so much as a couple! Her being the bat girl and “little league” hottie and him the bad body athlete. Man oh man their connection and chemistry I felt it so hard and their romance just sucked me in! I loved they got to know each other and peeled back their layers. I love it when an author takes the time to develop a relationship. Their relationship had some tense moments and I held my breathe a lot. At one point I almost stopped reading but I gave myself a pep talk. So I put on my big girl panties and dived back in! Best. Decision. Ever. Whenever TY and Chase are together it’s like this undeniable force. They are perfect for each other! The changes he made for her and the struggles they went through as a couple. Talk about angst and heartbreak. I was gutted like oh my god this can’t be happening. How could you do this to me!!!!! We also have a serial killer and when that person is revealed and their motive behind the killings I was like WTF!! I didn’t see that coming from a mile away!!! Like how do you think of this Torre? This book was full of angst, romance, suspense and it was just a perfect book for me. I finished this book in 4 hours. I was glued to my iPad and I didn’t want to eat, or go to sleep until I finished. Well friggin done and you have a new fan in me! One more thing, Lets Go Yankees!!
I honestly would give this book more stars if I could!!! This book was PHENOMENAL and probably one of my absolute favorites of 2016.
This is only the third book by this author that I have read, but each book that I read just keeps getting better and better. This is by far my favorite of Alessandra’s that I have read. This is a book I would recommend to EVERYONE!! You don’t want to miss this book.
There was so much that went into this book. So many emotions and feelings. You felt every word as you read it and I felt like I was living this story right along side Chase and Ty. The story was flawless and I thought the pace and flow were perfect. Alessandra created a story that was full of everything. We got humor, love, romance, hurt and mystery. This book kept me guessing all the way through. I NEVER would’ve have guessed how this story turned out.
Moonshot is a Standalone novel. It covers many different types of stories. This is a forbidden love story, but also a friends to lovers, which then turns into a second chance romance all based in the world of Professional Baseball. And don’t forget the suspense aspect of the storyline too. This book is truly for any type reader. Because it also covers a wide range of ages for the characters too. When we first meet Chase and Ty, Ty is 17 and Chase is 22, but by the end of the book Ty is 26 and Chase is 31. So we go from a New Adult book into an Adult romance. Don’t let this scare you, because with the way the story is told it all just works perfectly 🙂
I don’t want to say much about the storyline, because I truly believe this is a book that you should go into blind and experience everything first hand. Just know this….I DEVOURED this book. I had to force myself to put it down to sleep.
This is a MUST READ!!!!
Alessandra Torre’s Moonshot was not anything like I expected. I thought it would be a simple and predictable sports romance but it’s much, much more than the safe, run-of-the-mill variety. Why did I expect anything less from the fabulous Alessandra Torre/A.R. Torre? Moonshot falls in multiple genres to include sports, sports romance, romantic suspense, mystery/thriller, new adult, forbidden love, second-chance romance, a mild love triangle element… the combination of some of my pet peeves being a surprising winner for me.
Based on my perspective, one thing to understand about the character/story development in Moonshot is everything seems to reflect off of the heroine’s bond with her father and their shared love and loyalty for the game of baseball, giving a sense of purity to the other pieces of this story. Maybe this element neutralized all the others that typically grate on me and made me that much more emotionally invested, even in an unexpected mystery. You see, I didn’t read the synopsis and didn’t see the serial killer component coming. “Baseball shouldn’t be life or death. Baseball shouldn’t determine fates.” Oh, but it does…at least in Ms. Torre’s world. Read it and see for yourself!
I bought this ebook as soon as it was released because I LOVED the cover and the title, but for some reason I never got around to reading it. I’m still kicking myself for not diving into this book as soon as it landed on my kindle.
Ty Rollins was a bat girl for the Yankees, the team her father pitched for. She found herself in a world of baseball when she lost her mother and her dad refused to leave her behind while he went to work. Not long after baseball with the Yankees became her life. She lived for the game and the players and stats and all of the world that came with it.
Chase Stern was a ball player with a golden arm, he was also a lost boy who found trouble. He was deeply wounded and so lost that he used drugs and women to hide his pain. That was until he found his way to the Yankees and collided with Ty. His world changed and would never be the same.
This book was amazing! So many nail biting moments and slow building angst and love and steam that…you just need to read it. The plot turns in this book we’re sharp and I promise you wouldn’t even see the end coming if you tried.
Chase Stern is a twenty-two-year-old star baseball player always in trouble. He has been traded to the Yankees after his last escapade with a team mate’s wife. Tyler Rollins is the seventeen-year-old daughter of Frank Rollins, closer for the NY Yankees. She has lived and breathed baseball her whole life. It’s in her blood.
The story is set over two different timelines, from when Tyler and Chase meet, then four years later when they are reunited. Their first meeting is full of angst and forbidden first love, their ages and his reputation between them.
“You want me to go down to the marina with you?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Jesus, Ty. To talk. To get to know each other. It’s not an orgy invitation.”
“I’m not supposed to talk to you.”
“Why?”
“You know.”
Then there is the crash, the fallout, and they are separated only to meet again four years later.
“First loves were supposed to be flimsy and temperamental. They were supposed to burn bright and fade fast. They weren’t supposed to stick. They weren’t supposed to eat away at a man’s heart, his capacity for life.”
For those who love forbidden romance, second chance romance and an extra mystery murder with a serial killer, this one is for you.
Okay, this book was hard to put down, but for some reason I thought it was going to be a different kind of story. For some reason the title, and the cover, made me think that it might be an alien story or something. I’d never heard the baseball term “moonshot”. So for most of the book I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was the murderer. And then, at the end, I was totally surprised by who it was. All in all I will say that this author is great at making me think a story is going to be one way, and then surprising me with a twist or different type of story in the end. And I mean that in a good way.
I read Moonshot when it was released in 2016, but was looking for something to reread, and thought I’d do this one as the World Series is currently on.
I had forgotten what a great book this is. It has everything I love in a romance. Forbidden love, second chance, and even murder. The only thing that would make it better would be if the team was the Indians, not the Yankees lol. Alessandra Torre has long been a favorite author of mine, an automatic one click read, and I have yet to read a book of hers that I don’t love. Even if you don’t like sports or baseball, you will love Ty and Chase.
This is my first read by Ms. Torre and while I didn’t hate and didn’t really like it.
The blurb really pulled me in, but was a little disappointed with the pages between the covers.
While I loved Chase and Ty’s story, and the baseball aspect (Go Cubs), I was disappointed in the suspense aspect and with the cheating. The first half of the book I was invested in their story but that last half – that was a struggle to finish.
However, I needed to know for sure who the killer was, so I kept reading. Overall, not a bad book, but not one that I will re-read.
This book wasn’t at all what I expected. It had a bit of everything weaved into it and it sent me through a wide variety of emotions. This book also brought out high levels of frustration! There were times when I wanted to throw this book across the room. This was a beautiful love story but not an easy one. If you’re expecting sweet and blissful then this book isn’t it. The struggle to happiness for these characters was raw and gritty and at times just painful to read. Great writing, with a suspenseful twist you never see coming.
*This book was a little hard to read for me because it contained cheating. Once characters are together I don’t like seeing them with other people, so parts of this book were difficult for me to push through. If this is a trigger for you, then you may want to skip this one.*
Growing up with baseball in your blood was nothing new to Ty Rollins. With a father that pitched for the Yankees, Ty grew up surrounded by the players in the heart of the action. Every moment behind the scenes and in the field were filled with ‘the stripes’ of the biggest team in baseball. With the game deep in her soul, Ty couldn’t imagine anything in her future other than baseball.
The biggest star in baseball is known for his bad boy reputation. Causing turmoil wherever he lays his uniform. Chase Stern has dreamed of wearing the stripes of the Yankees team for years. When his latest stunt lands him on the team he covets the most, his arrival is met with tons of resistance. Then a whirlwind tumbles into his life in the form of Ty Rollins.
Ty’s sheltered life didn’t prepare her for a man like Chase. Everything about him was forbidden by her father. Their age difference should have mattered. Both of them should have stayed away from the other. Ty and Chase could not escape the pull of their love for the game. An attraction that went further than the uniform, the field, or the stadium lights. Fate placed them along the same path. What they didn’t know was how far off course their future would curve.
Unparalleled …. It’s the first thought that comes to me when I read Moonshot!! Everything about this book appealed to me. From the forbidden romance of Ty and Chase, to the mystery that lurks within the pages. Each and every word that flowed from the chapters pulled me into this tale of baseball, suspense, and epic love. It is a romance that is not to be forgotten. A romance that one can only hope of finding in a lifetime.
I have a soft spot for this romance for many reasons. Growing up….I was the gal that was a part of a minor league team. From hanging out in the dugout, to running errands for the players, to dinner after the game. Every home run, every strike, each yell of the umpire shaped the days of my summers. When Alessandra announced she was creating her latest ‘home run’ about the game of baseball….I knew I had to read it. Never in a million years would I have imagined how dead on so many things in this story would be in regards to the behind the scenes of the game!!
Romance is not the only thing lurking throughout Moonshot’s pages…..there is an element of suspense that will keep you guessing right up until the very last moment. While Torre is known for her unforgettable romance elements, nothing could prepare fans for the epic ‘home run’ hidden within the pages of this novel. Typically – I figure out the surprise elements in a story early on. With Moonshot – I was guessing right along with each turn of the page. The revelation will upend readers….proving how far Alessandra Torre’s writing has gone since publishing her first book. Trust me – I was guessing right until the last moment!
Moonshot is one of those books that you can’t put down!! It’s the home run of romance….the best novel I have read this year!! Trust this second chance romance to knock it out of the park. Discover the love of the game….believe in fate…..crack the bat….and enjoy it all over again!!
Alessandra Torre is the queen of originality. *salutes* I know I’m going to be enthralled every time I dive into one of her books, and Moonshot definitely doesn’t disappoint. As with so many of Alessandra’s books, you’re dying to read what happens next to the main characters. I will say that I wanted there to be a little more to the story in present time, since there was so much build up in the past. But overall, Moonshot leaves you with stars in your eyes.
I bounce when Alessandra releases a new book.
I know they are due (newsletter, fangirl, twitter stalker, TV forever) and I delight when they finally come!
She never disappoints.
Moonshot is the story of sweet Tyler Rollins and her girl crush on baseball player extraordinaire Chase Stern. Sweet, young love from her. Early devotion for him. The timing is wrong. Chances are missed. Drama unfolds.
I think I need to do research on baseball players (we don’t have those in the UK).
I just loved Moonshot! Tyler and Chase chemistry was so fierce! I was rooting for them from the beginning! I enjoyed the mystery factor too, it kept getting better and better each chapter. I just love me a great sport romance story especially baseball!
This is sports romance with suspense done right.
Beautiful writing. Very entertaining. Slow burn. Sexy. Exciting. I really enjoyed it.
AND I didn’t guess right. Awesome job by this author.
Baseball romance fans, this is the book for you. But it is also so much more than a sports romance. This is also a mystery. I guarantee you that you won’t be able to figure it out before the author reveals the truth. As a baseball fan myself I loved Ty. She is spunky, independent, strong and the perfect proof that baseball isn’t just for the men. And it’s no surprise she falls for sexy baseball star Chase. There is more to him than a superstar who likes to party and breaks all the rules. He is just a man running from the pain of his past. Together they are electric! But when they meet life isn’t ready for them to live happily ever after. Shoot years ahead. They are both in different phases of their lives but never forgot each other. This is a perfect second chance romance but it’s anything but typical. Add in a murder mystery. Just when you think you figured out your feelings for all the characters in this book the author throws in some surprises and I believe your opinions will change just like mine did. I loved this book from beginning to end. I couldn’t stop listening. I had to know what was going to happen next! At the end my heart was full but I felt a part of me missing because I had become so attached to these characters. I can’t suggest this book enough. Readers will laugh out loud, fall in love, feel heart broken, feel outraged, and swoon over and over again
Unexpected plot in a good way!
This was a very believable story and will definitely read a second time, loved it
