I love a good southern mystery. I also love a good witch mystery. When they collide? I’m a very happy reader.
Such a fun witch cozy from a talented writer.
This book is interesting on so many levels. It has magic, mystery, and humor. Entertaining from beginning to end.
The main character, Charli, is such a wonderful character! She’s strong but vulnerable, smart and determined, and she does not need to be saved, because she could be her “own hero.” I feel that she is really believable and relatable to the reader. She struggles with finding her place to fit, but that makes her even more sympathetic. The supporting cast in this book is also engaging and authentic. I like the way we get to experience Charli’s flaws and her self-awareness of those downfalls, but also see her power and ability to make connections with so many other people even though she feels a little lost herself. I love that it shows her connection with her family and friends as well as potential significant others.
The storyline itself is very dynamic. There are many layers to unwrap in this book. There’s the overall plot of the murder/mystery to solve, but there’s also the reconnection of lost relationships, the potential for a love triangle, and the heartache of losing loved ones. I feel like the book flows naturally, and each aspect I mentioned above is fully developed. I think the author does a good job of conveying the emotions the characters feel and also keeping the plot moving in a way that keeps the reader wanting more. I never felt a lull in this book, which I appreciated. The narrative is well-rounded, and that made it all the more appealing to a wide audience.
Overall, I enjoyed this book; the characters, and the adventure it took me on. I think if you like paranormal mysteries that show strong relationships with family and friends, and a opportunity for multiple love interests, this book could be for you.
After skipping town and leaving her fiancé and family, Charli Goodwin thinks she can sneak back into town and plans to lay low. Of course, things don’t go as planned when Charli discovers the dead body of her great uncle and is inflicted with the death curse.
Using her tracker talents and what little energy she has, Charli must track down her uncle’s killer before time runs out for her. She is not alone as she has the police (hunky Mason), her witch grandma and brother, wolf shifter Dash, and all her mystical friends to help her out.
This is a cozy mystery with a definite paranormal twist. All the townspeople are part of a magical existence such as witches, pixies, trolls, vampires, and even wolf shifters. Each character is unique and adds to the charming tale.
This was a great cozy mystery and so much more, the pace was great and a story line that kept you hooked. Chari has just arrived back in town after leaving for her own reasons but is obviously wary after leaving her fiance in the lurch when she went. She hasn’t even been back in town for a day before she comes across her Great uncle Tippers body and it is all down hill from there. Now Chari has to try and find Tippers killer or she will die herself from the Death curse boy is that girl a trouble magnet! There are plenty of red herrings along with twists and surprise while we go along for the ride and Charli along with Mason to work out who the killer is. You get to meet many of Charli’s friends and family as well as town folk that makes you want to visit Honeysuckle Hollow.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I couldn’t put Moonshine & Magic down, i started the book and finished the book same day. I was hooked from the first page. I was enchanted with Honeysuckle Hollow and its people (creatures). I also adored that the story had Southern vibe / tone. I loved it. I will keep going with this series.
A great start to this cozy paranormal mystery series! Charli returns back to her hometown of Honeysuckle Hollow, a safe haven where paranormal beings live under its spell of protection. Her arrival isn’t the only surprise, as trouble brews and Charli quickly finds herself as a suspect in a murder investigation—that if not solved, could literally be the death of her! I loved Charli’s spunky character… her stubbornness and determination to solve the mystery leads to some really funny moments, all while catching the eyes of two potential love interests. The rest of the town folk are also entertaining with their quirky personalities, adding a lot of humor and color to this magical tale. I really enjoyed all the southern charms in this paranormal world. I look forward to sipping on my sweet tea as I read on further to see what mystery comes next for Charli and the Honeysuckle gang.
This lighthearted witch cozy kept me entertained while I was sick. It’s a fun book and I’m moving right on to the second book in the series.
An awesome plot and fantastic story! Full of mystery, secrets, mayhem, magic , lots of fun, and magical people! Never a dull moment as soon as she returns home strange and surprising twists and turns take over! First a murder, then a curse, what’s next? Will she survive the curse? She must find the killer before it’s to late! Who will she chose her ex, the warden, or the wolf shifter? With time running out, how will it end? Loved it! I couldn’t stop reading till I finished it!
