All those years of adolescent fantasies and this was how Bowie Bodine first touched my boobs. And he apologized. Real life was stupid and unfair.Small town deputy Cassidy Tucker’s dating life is a train wreck on repeat. All she ever wanted was a solid partner. A man to share pajamas with. The handsome, big-hearted Bowie Bodine. Wait. Scratch that. Mr. You’re-Like-a-Sister-to-Me is not welcome in … You’re-Like-a-Sister-to-Me is not welcome in her fantasies.
She and Bowie aren’t going to happen—that’s been clear for a long time—and as for the rest of mankind? Cassidy’s officially giving up on love and adopting cats. Good thing the cold case disappearance of Callie Kendall is heating up to keep her distracted. Except the investigation is testing her friendship with all the Bodines—Bowie in particular.
Bowie knows he can’t have his little sister’s best friend. He made a promise and he’s determined to keep it. But putting distance between them isn’t easy—not when she lives right next door.
Having her poke around trying to prove his father’s guilt isn’t helping either. All Bowie has ever wanted is to shed the No-Good Bodine reputation. It’s looking like he’ll never be free of that shadow.
But one nocturnal animal, a feverish against-the-wall kiss, and absolutely zero pajamas has a way of changing everything.more
I’m feeling mushy and gushy again
Oh my lordy, I LOVED Moonshine Kiss. My eyes are blurry and my back is breaking after reading for four hours straight. I haven’t had an intense reading frenzy like that in yonky donks but I just couldn’t stop. There’s something about knowing, or thinking you know, the characters before you even start. Within a few pages, I knew what had scared Bowie off from the love of his life. It was just lucky theirs was “true love” and nobody else would do in the eight years it took for them to come together.
Seriously, this series is magic and Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley definitely have a distinctive voice and I will be purchasing more of their previously published books. For starters, they’re bloody funny, but while funny, they also manage to suck the emotions out of the characters too. There were a few times I was sniffling and taking deep breaths to control the tears. I feel like I know these characters and I, like the town of Bootleg Springs, need to see Bowie and Cassidy find their happy ever after together.
The intrigue in this instalment takes a tricky turn when Cassidy’s job is on the line because of her connection to the Bodine’s. As a small town deputy, she has to remember her badge while also remembering that she’s one of them. How do you draw the line? Does the job come first? When family and friends are involved in an enquiry, should you share new info? Hmmm…even I was a little bamboozled as to where the line should be drawn. I would hope our officers of the law have an inbuilt detector that beeps when you’re getting too close to the line.
I seriously had mushy, gushy feelings in this one. When Bowie and Cassidy finally connect, my heart was pumping and there was a big goofy grin on my face. Bowie and his words were MAGIC!! I found myself wanting to highlight some of his words and hint at hubby that he could use a bit of magic to get on my good side. Don’t tell hubby, but I guess this would be the negative of marrying young…with maturity comes magic words. Hubby is great now, but I was lucky to get more than I love you, I want you…lets hit the sack, back in the olden days. (If you do see this hubby…LOVE YOU!!!)
Anyways, absolutely LOVED Moonshine Kiss. The only smidge of a negative, I have to wait for more. But, I am excited as June is definitely someone I have grown to love and her love interest…SO COOL!!!
I just love this series so much!
“My crush on him was woven into the fabric of my childhood.”
Cassidy Tucker has been in love with Bowie Bodine since she was a teenager. However, one sentence from him, long ago, broke her heart and she’s been shutting off her feelings for him ever since.
“I knew that if she said the words. If she asked me the question, I’d crumble. I’d put my hands on her like I’d longed to. I would kiss her until everything else in the world disappeared.”
Bowie has been in love with Cassidy since she was a teenager. At first, she was off-limits because of her youth, and then she was off-limits for a whole other reason. Keeping his distance yet remaining friendly has been so difficult for him, especially when they are next door neighbours.
When lines start to blur and things start to heat up between them, Cassidy suddenly finds herself in a tenuous position of having to choose between her career or her heart. In the meantime, the ongoing investigation into an old missing person’s case is turning up surprising evidence.
“I needed her. I needed to be inside her. To know her. To possess her. To worship her.”
This series is keeping me seriously hooked. I love the Bodine clan and the other colourful Bootleg Springs characters. Bowie and Cassidy were made for each other and their chemistry was off the charts! Their passion was scorching. Their connection was undeniable. They had their ups and downs, as they worked hard towards the end goal – sifting through what was important and what wasn’t – to make their relationship work.
I just love that each book is about a different couple but that there’s a continuous thread running through them in the ongoing mystery. Certainly keeps me coming back for more. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book, June’s story. I adore a quirky heroine!
I absolutely love the town of Bootleg Springs! I think it would be so fun to live there. This book is the 3rd in the bootleg springs series. In moonshine kiss we get to see the story of Bowie Bodine (the second oldest Bodine) and Cassie Tucker (the sheriff’s daughter). Bowie has always been there for Scarlett (his sister) and her best friend Cassie. Cassie has always been able to take care of herself, but when Bowie, her life long crush, tries to protect her, she thinks her dreams have come true. But something happens and they no longer are even friends. The ongoing missing/muder case of Callie Kendall, brings them back together and things get very tense and hot! I fell in love with Bowie, he is now my favorite Bodine Hotty! And I want to be Cass! Loved this book so hard and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next in the series.
I was super excited for book 3 in the Bootleg series!!! Bowie and Cassidy’s story is wonderful! Their chemistry amazing. Bowie is definitely the ultimate good guy. Loyal, swoony, sexy. Cassidy is a great heroine. No one could ever call her weak!
The story flows easily and keeps you interested! Lots of humor. Bootleg Springs justice!!! Shenanigans, secret town meetings, Mona Lisa McNugget, cats!!! Callie Kendall’s mystery has still yet to be solved but so much is being discovered!!
Read it!! You won’t be disappointed!!

This series just continues to get better and better. Another book closer to the grand reveal on the investigation and another Bodine locked down in love.
Welcome to Bootleg Springs! Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley have given their readers a well-written small town second chance romance story filled with a great mix of young love, heartbreak, mystery, suspense, twists, humor, forgiveness, witty banter, a misunderstanding, more questions but few answers, and a happily ever after.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
I didn’t think it was possible for this series to get better but it did. Loved Cassie and Bowie. They are meant for each other. Also loved seeing everyone else in Bootleg Springs. They are so full of character but there for each other whenever needed.
5 Book!!!! I really want a real life Bowie *swooning* Cassidy is an awesome character. I love how she is a strong female roll model self sufficient. I loved their story. The ongoing investigation of Cassidy is a nice twist. The story was well written and i loved every minute reading it. I would defiantly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I love Bootleg Springs and couldn ‘t wait to jump into Bowie’s book! There is a lot of funny, steamy action here as well as more clues into the disappearance of Callie. Loved it!
The relationship building in this series is second to none. Somehow Lucy and Claire flawlessly create these characters that take my heart and hold it hostage.
Deputy Cassidy Tucker has quickly become one of my favorite leading ladies. She is the perfect counterpart for Scarlett in their friendship. Her family is supportive and loving and some may step a toe onto the other side of the law in the best possible ways from time to time.
Of course, Lucy excelled once again in creating pets that add so much humor and love to the story. They feel like a necessity for the story to be complete.
Bowie makes me hot for teacher (or vice principal as it were.) This guy is so good and kind and HOT! His (living) family is a wonderful mix of dysfunction, support, and love. His courting abilities are spectacular!
Each book in this series leaves me longing for more! More of the characters, more of the shenanigans, more of the heat and chemistry between the H and h, and definitely MORE information about Callie!!!!
We return to Bootleg Springs to witness the second chance love story of Deputy Cassie Tucker and Bowie Bodine. They both have been in love with each other for years but due to misunderstandings this kept them apart. Now it is eight years later, they both had tried to move on, but being neighbors and family friends, it was getting harder and harder to do. Things get a bit more complicated now that new evidence regarding the disappearance of Callie has been discovered. Loyalties are questioned and feelings of unworthiness start to draw them apart, but with the townsfolk of Bootleg Springs and the family members of both the Bodines and Tuckers on their side you know they will reach their happily ever after.
When the misunderstanding that kept these two apart was finally revealed, I loved how Bowie was all in and was determined to break down Cassie’s walls. She had been heart-broken too many times and she has given up on men and decided to become a cat lady. But Cassie was the one for Bowie and he was not going to let anything stop him. There were so many great scenes with these two, some sweet, some steamy and some hilarious.
The secondary characters were just as awesome, the townsfolk delving out Bootleg Justice, Scarlett and her many antics, scenes with Gram-Gram and that jail scene, I loved it all. Now I can not wait for Junebug’s story, she is quite a character so I am really curious how and with whom she is going to fall for.
Loved everything about this book and highly recommend it.
Cassidy and Bowie – Finally!
Cassidy has been in love with Bowie since, we’ll forever! Even when they were young, Cassidy dreamt of a day when Bowie would no longer see her as a little sister. When that day came, Cassidy’s father pulled Bowie aside and warned him off his daughter until they grew up some more. But Bowie didn’t hear the until part! Eventually, the two find each other but Bowie will not break his promise to Cassidy’s father! Cassidy angry at both men is a wonderful sight! But when Cassidy’s father tells Bowie he didn’t mean never, all is clear for Bowie! And he is turning on the charm to ensure he and Cassidy are together forever. The ongoing police investigation on what happened to Callie Kendall, while Bowie’s deceased father is prime suspect for murdering her (with little to no evidence), pulls the new couple in different directions.
The characters in this story are so real, you’ll feel you lived in Bootleg all along as well! I loved how the town sticks together to get rid of the tabloid reporters who harass the townsfolk and call them redneck, stupid and obliviously avoiding what happened to Callie. The bar fight when the ladies go out for a break, and all land in the jail was so funny, I had to laugh out loud at the images!
I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and to get some more clarity in the underlying mystery in this town!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
I have loved every Bootleg Springs book since I found the first one when I had no idea who Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley were, and Moonshine Kiss is no different!
Cassidy Tucker has been in love with Bowie Bodine since kindergarten, and she thought he felt the same. So when he told her at 19 that she was just his baby sisters best friend, he broke her heart and taught Cass she needed to rely solely on herself.
Bowie Bodine has loved Cassidy forever, but after a particularly nasty fight with a guy he decided was being too handsy with Cass her Daddy took Bowie aside and killed his dreams.
Moonshine Kiss spins more funny stories about bootleg justice, the mystery of Callie Kendall (I have SO many theories!), and the windy road Bowie’s forced to take back to winning Cassidy Anne Tucker.
Along the way there are hilarious antics between Scarlett and Mysty Lynn, huge amounts of tension between Cass, the Sheriff, Connelly, and the whole Bodine family, and Cass finds love at first glance – with a pair of cats?
Will Bowie and Cass survive the a$$hole detective investigating Callie Kendall’s disappearance? Will Cass figure out her true worth, and how to ask for help?
I loved this book so very much! Cassie and Bowie are a dream, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in Bootleg Springs!!
Moonshine Kiss is a ‘second chance’ and ‘best friend’s brother’ romance between two characters previously introduced in the first two books in the Bootleg Springs Series. Bowie Bodine is Scarlett’s (H in Whiskey Chaser – book #1) brother who is a high school teacher. Cassidy is a deputy sheriff and Scarlett’s best friend since forever.
Oh how I loved Bowie and Cassidy!!!
Reading the first two books in the series, we know that there is some history there with them, but until Moonshine Kisses we aren’t sure exactly what happened.
Bowie and Cassidy have a lot to overcome. They use to be best friends…their families are very intertwined…and now they aren’t sure where they stand or where they’re going.
I just loved this book!!! It has it all – a strong heroine, a swoony hero, quirky side characters (oh how I love June), a little mystery, and a HEA. If you have not read the first two books in the series, you need to ASAP!! There is a mystery weaved through all of the books that has me coming up with all kinds of theories!! And the Bodine family is hilarious!!
Happy reading!!!
Intoxicating
I love visiting Bootleg Springs!!
I’m so drawn into the mystery of the investigation and the connection of this small town. It’s funny and sometimes a little heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see where this series goes.
Wow, Lucy has again hit it out of the ball park…….. As much as i loved Cass and Bowie story and it was flippin wonderful, the Kelly Kendall is really ramping up and it gettin under my skin. Where is she…. is she dead? So many questions!!!
I’m still loving Scarletts kick ass ways…..this series has so much going for it, and the characters are flippin brilliant.
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An emotional journey of figuring out what is important and how worthy you are to achieve your dreams. While 8 years has past between them, Cassidy and Bowie have fought their attractions to each other, but circumstances kept them close. When family drama leaves them with more questions than answers the truth comes out and their relationship evolves. But will the steps taken to get the answers be too much of a burden? Or will the two end up stronger in the end? Once again Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley create not only wonderful characters but a storyline that the reader cannot put down. I need more answers – the next book needs to happen ASAP.
So if you all are following this series things are getting better and better. The mystery behind Callie’s disappearance is getting more pronounced and the town members of Bootleg Springs are falling in love left and right. This time around we have Bowie Bodine and the girl he has loved for as long as he can remember Cassidy Tucker. Cassidy is a deputy who is investigating Callie’s disappearance and is torn between doing her job and protecting the Bodine family, a family she considers a part of her own. Bowie needs to convince Cassidy that they can be together even with her job on the line. I loved this book, a town full of quirky lovable characters, a book with tears and laughter. So good!
Bootleg Springs is the most fun I’ve had reading in a long time. I absolutely love to read, but scouring these books for clues on the disappearance of Callie Kendall, spinning theories, and discussing those theories with fellow Lucy and Claire fans takes these books to a new level! Top that off with a new and engaging romance in each book and recurring characters you can’t help but love and you’ve got Bootleg Springs!
Moonshine Kiss is book three in this series, and it is amazing! I couldn’t love Bowie and Cassidy more! Bowie is book boyfriend perfection. Even when he doesn’t think he can have Cassidy, he is there as a friend and protector. He is the perfect combination of oh so sweet and protective. He is a good guy through and through. I love that he would do anything for Cassidy, and while his reasons for staying away may be misguided, he always tries to put her first.
Cassidy is amazing. She is strong and independent, but given her past experiences with Bowie, she tries hard to protect her heart. She is the ice to her best friend Scarlett’s fire, and as an officer of the law she always tries to do what is right. However, when her loyalties are questioned, she is forced to reevaluate those gray areas in life.
Bowie and Cassidy both have a lot going on in their lives, but I loved watching them figure out how to support one another. They fit together like two perfect puzzle pieces, and while they have always loved each other, it was fun to watch them figure out how to embrace that love. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved that Bowie knew what he wanted and refused to back down. He never pushed Cassidy beyond what she was comfortable giving, but he consistently nudged her to embrace what she wanted while working hard to prove he wouldn’t let her down.
I love that each of these books lets us check in with the characters and relationships from previous books as their lives are so connected. I also love guessing who will be next and who they will end up with. I went through all the emotions with this group yet again in Moonshine Kiss. I laughed so many times, I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation when new evidence was revealed, I was disappointed when things went wrong, and I celebrated when things worked out. I love this group, and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be released!
If you haven’t read books one and two, I highly recommend you start there. While the romance in each book is new, the mystery is a lot of fun when you read in order. You also don’t want to miss any of the stories, because they are all fantastic!
