Great love story. Nadia saves Cade when he is in a car accident, she was supposed to let him die but she can’t, she leaves straight after rescuing him and disappears knowing she has feelings for him. Cade always wondered what happened to the angel that saved him. Until years later when by chance they run into each other on an island they above go to for escape. Will Nadia’s secret be exposed and ruin what chance of love they have together? I loved the way this novella come together. This is the first book i have read by Amy McKinley, i thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely being reading her others.
When you meet the man of your dreams but the best way to love him is to leave, can your heart ever recover.
Cade is driven off the road into the river but as he is sinking into the river wondering how he will escape an angel comes and recuses him, although they are safe as soon as he tries to find she vanishes into think air. Nadia recuses Cade but when the instant attraction happens she needs to escape quickly before it gets more complicated.
Although they both can’t the incident out of there minds a chance meeting years later ignites the chemistry between them but can both of them take a risk and chance a relationship.
I loved this book, as with all Amy’s books they are full of action and well written characters, this is a great taster and you are left wanting more with these two wonderful people. The characters are full of flaws and with their attraction this make for a great read. I can’t wait for the series to come if this is any indication of the characters and stories.
This is my first book by Amy Mckinley. It was an amazing mix of suspense and romance. I couldn’t put it down! I’m excited to devour the rest of this series.
Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance is book one in the Moonlit Destination series by Amy McKinley. The very moment I saw this story I had to read it. I honeymooned in the Cook Islands, so this place hold some very precious memories. Amy McKinley can spin quite the tale, so I knew this one would be amazing.
This story centres around Cade and Nadia. After a dramatic introduction, they cross paths again years later. Sparks fly, tension rises, passion ignites and a bonds is formed. Secrets are always exposed eventually, and Nadia’s threatens to tear them apart. A scorching couple who share immeasurable chemistry, sexy attraction, passionate liaisons, suspenseful dramatics and sweet loving. Moonlight Mirage was an emotional short story that captures the attention and delivers an unforgettable impact. A thoroughly enjoyable read. 5 stars
This is the second book I’ve read by Amy McKinley. I love her ability to create a story and characters instantly. This was a very small book, but still packed the emotion I’ve come to recognize from Amy. Our main female character is Nadia. She’s complicated and I don’t want to give too much away. Our main male character is Cade. He’s a sweet man who loves with his whole heart and you can’t help but adore. I do wish this was a bit of a longer story, but I can’t wait to read more from this author.
This novella can be read alone or as part of McKinley’s series. After reading this story, I am looking forward to reading the other novella’s in this series. From the first line to the last, I was turning pages to see if Nadia would be reunited with Cade. Meeting through an accident, Cade searches and longs for Nadia. What will happen when they have a chance encounter? Will Cade have a chance with Nadia? Will Nadia risk exposing her past to be with Cade? Only by quickly reading will your curiosity be satisfied.
Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley – Review by Gail Guerrero
Five Stars
It always amazes me how authors are about to grab your attention with a well placed word. Or a line in a story that just grabs. Or a character so well written you have no choice but to follow and listen. This author has become a favorite. This story is short, sweet and to the point. You don’t get the full effect just because it’s a novella. You still get the right amount to love the story. Cade and Nadia are fire on the page together. I felt like I was right there feeling the tense and frustration. You experience so much in these few pages. I felt like it was the cherry on top to a get story. We did have some mention of some Grey Ghost characters if you don’t know that series you’re truly missing out.
Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley started off action packed. I was a little confused going in but quickly adapted. I enjoyed the amount of detail in such a short story. The pacing was well done and I loved Cade and Nadia. The suspense and romance was a great blend.
Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance is part of the Moonlit Destination Series by Amy McKinley. So much is packed into this novella, there are elements of romance, suspense, and thrill. I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until it was finished. The two main characters, Nadia Bennett and Cade Malone share an interesting bond. Unfortunately, there is something from Nadia’s past that could ruin their relationship. I look forward to reading other stories in this series.

Nadia is a girl with a past and met Cade under mysterious circumstances that must be kept a secret. When they run into each other many years later she remembers their attraction that she hopes was only on her side, only to realize that he felt it too and recognized her. She decides to let herself feel the attraction and see where it goes, keeping her past a secret until she can no longer hide it.
Amy Mckinley writes a good mystery romance. The two characters are drawn to each other and love overcomes the past. Very positive book gives the reader a good feeling. Thank you and can’t wait to read more about these characters.
Moonlit Mirage is a novella in the Moonlit Destination series. It can be read as a standalone.
This story starts off with an action sequence and doesn’t slow down. Since it’s a novella, the details aren’t as fleshed out, but you still feel like you got a great tale out of it when you’re done. I enjoyed the set up to the romance. It gives you a fast, but solid, connection point so that it doesn’t feel rushed.
Overall, a fun reading adventure!
This is a quick read that is filled with romance and suspense. We meet Cade right before he is run off the road in a hit that was supposed to kill him. He is saved by Nadia right before she runs away and disappears. Flash forward five years and their paths cross once again. In order for them to have a chance at any type of relationship, Nadia is going to have to come clean about who she is and what she did. However, this could put her in danger and force her to run again. Is Cade worth staying for? Can Cade have feelings for her once he knows the truth? These questions are answered in a story that was fast to read but so full of actual story!
I enjoyed Cade and Nadia’s story. Even I was waiting with anticipation to know the whole truth behind Nadia’s actions. It is a quick insta-love story that has enough drama to keep it believable and kept me turning the pages.

This was such a nice short read. I really like to find books I can fit in quickly. The author is amongst one of my favourites.
Nadia and Cade have a very unique chemistry. I like how the author is able to bring them to life. I was hooked from page one and there was just enough drama mixed in. I look forward to reading more from this author.
This was a great story.
Nadia was a russian spy who mission was to kill Cade. However, she fell for him so instead of following orders she saved him.
Fast forward 5 years later and they meet again on an island. The attraction between them is so strong but is it strong enough to withstand the secrets of thier pasts.
Moonlit Mirage is the first book in Amy McKinley’s Moonlit Destination series. It ties in with her Gray Ghost series, with a few background characters from the familiar team, but is shorter and contains less action. The focus is on romance and character development, in a book that can easily be read in one sitting.
Cade was the reason Nadia defected. The target she couldn’t leave to die. Nadia was Cade’s angel. The face he could never forget after she saved his life and disappeared. When chance brings them together years later, on a beautiful island that both have come to as an escape, neither can resist the chance to get to know each other properly. But Nadia’s past threatens to catch up with her, as she struggles to keep secrets from Cade.
This is a captivating book. All through I was desperate to find out why Nadia had saved Cade, and why he was targeted in the first place. Although short, there were plenty of interesting details like Nadia’s efforts to increase the time she could hold her breath underwater, which added depth to the story.
For me, this is a four-star read. I’d recommend it to fans of the Gray Ghost series, and if you haven’t read the series yet this would be a great way to get a taste of McKinley’s writing style.
Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley is well worth a read! Nadia Bennett’s life changed forever when she left the path expected of her. Cade Malone’s every thought was consumed by the underwater angel who saved his life. When they meet again, unexpectedly, will the past control their future? A well written story, which felt smooth and unrushed. I’m looking forward to reading more by Amy McKinley.
Moonlit Mirage : A Cook Islands Romance(Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley.
This was definitely a very fast and enjoyable read for me!!! This had everything that you could possibly want in a fabulous book: amazing characters, romance and suspense. I was instantly drawn in the Cade and Nadia’s story. Nadia may have rescued Cade from his accident but it wasn’t a complete “accident “…. years later when they cross paths yet again, there is a definite connection between these two!!!
For a novella, it most certainly packs the punch of a full length book!!!
I am not gonna lie, I wish this book was longer. It was a great short read don’t get me wrong, but I got too confused because of how quickly the story processed and I didn’t know the back storyline either. Regardless it was a great way to wind down my evening, I would like to read some of her other books and try and figure out this one better as well.
New to Amy McKinley and her books I am pleasantly surprised and happy to have found and read this book and will be finding more of her work to read.
A relatively short book at only 80 pages (a novella), but full of action, romance and danger that you can’t put down until you’ve finished because of the great plot and story line.
Instantly from the beginning of the book you are met with action and you are hooked from then on.
As soon as you start the book it begins exciting meeting our two main characters; Nadia helping Cade Malone escape from his car when he was driven off the road, through the barriers and into the river. The drama does not finish there as Nadia then swims off as soon as she releases Cade from his restricting seat belt, leaving him wondering why she had saved him and why she had left so suddenly when the police turn up. For both characters that night is never far from their mind, when they meet years later, they are undoubtedly drawn together. The drama, romance and danger all begin, and we can’t help but follow them through it.
I, for one, fell in love with this book, the characters the wellness of how it was written. As it was only 80 pages I was expecting it to be a rushed story. But it isn’t at all. The pace of the story is fast, yes, however it only enriches the story rather than detracts from it!
All in all this is a great book to read and to escape to for a few hours.
