“Super sexy! Against a sensual New Orleans backdrop, Moonlight & Whiskey follows a woman’s journey toward acceptance of her body and herself.”—Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss QuotientWhen life gives you curves, you gotta learn how to rock them. Successful businesswoman Avery Barrows likes her dips and curves, but she’s sick of the haters telling her that she should be ashamed of her body … her that she should be ashamed of her body instead of embracing it. Determined to send them a big f*** you, Avery resolves to cut loose during a girls’ trip, hightailing her quick-mouthed, plus-sized self to New Orleans. So, what’s a smart woman with a little extra gotta do to get laid in this town?
Not much if you ask Declan McGinn, the lead singer of BlackSmith. Tall, dark, and tattooed, with a body made for sin, Declan prefers his women as curvy as his guitars. Avery’s sharp tongue and keen mind makes him want her even more.
As they burn up the sheets, Avery and Declan realize this is no one-night (or even one-week) stand. But for all of her bluster, Avery isn’t sure she can handle any more rejection. Besides, Declan has demons of his own. Now Avery has a choice to make: play it safe, or place her trust in the hands of a man who’s as tempting as the devil himself.
Praise for Moonlight & Whiskey

A great book by another new-to-me author! This is the story about Avery and Declan, both had personal demons that made their HEA journey a bit bumpy. Avery, is an awesome heroine in this story, she has a career in a male-dominated field along with having some self-esteem issues, but she also has this strength to her. As for Declan, it took a bit to really get a feel of him, but I really liked his reaction to their first meet. Avery was a bit snarky to him, her past relationships has made her a bit defensive especially with how attractive he was, but he didn’t back down and the pursuit was on.
What started off as just a temporary fling became so much more as their feelings became stronger. They both fought hard against anything more, but the chemistry was too strong. Those sexy scenes were off the chart! Unfortunately their demons arises and causes a bit of angst between the two. But once they both were able to let go of past hurts, their happily ever after was really beautiful.
The secondary characters in this book were so instrumental to their story, I hope we can get their story too.
All in all a great book.
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I loved this book! I fell in love with the characters, the raw and real of every part and I cannot wait to read more! Sure to bring out the uninhibited freak in you! Avery is my kind of girl with her brains, vans and her take no s**t attitude! Let your freak flag fly and keep your significant other on standby!
Moonlight & Whiskey by Tricia Lynne is sin and spice and everything naughty and nice! It had me laughing out loud and shedding tears.
This is the first book I read by this author and it won’t be the last.
A story of learning how to love oneself flaws and all.
Avery works as an engineer. She is very staid and plain but she also moonlights as a sassy, sexy, foul-mouthed woman. On a trip to New Orleans, she plans to let loose her playful and care-free side.
Here, she meets Declan, sexy and kind, he is also the lead singer of a rock band. He also seems “in” to her. But is he really?
As the heat and passion rises between Avery and Declan, so do their protective walls. Will they be brave enough to believe in themselves as well as the epic love that awaits them if and when they do?
From the first chapter, I was engaged. I saw myself in Avery. Being a bigger woman myself, I could draw parallels and understand her motivation, reasoning and fear.
Avery was funny, sassy, sweet and an absolute firecracker! I loved her character even though I must say, there were times where she made me angry.
Declan, OMG! He is such a sexy man! A man that we all aspire to have. He helps his woman feel like a woman. He also helps build confidence where it lacks in Avery simply by treating her the way a woman is supposed to be treated.
This couple without a doubt was meant for each other.
I also cared about the secondary characters in this book and hope they will each get their stories told.
This was a funny, down to earth read with all the feels. A story of being happy and comfortable in your own skin and of reclaiming your power as a woman to feel sexy and desirable at any size.
An amazing read not to be missed!
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts an opinions are my own.
So much fun
Are there more books? Loved it! Real woman gets hers. Very witty and well written. I relate.
Loved this book and all of the characters !
This curvy girl romance has some truly funny moments, but while I usually love sassy, take no nonsense female characters, Avery is just not likable. Strong is one thing, and I appreciate that she could and did stand up for herself, but Avery goes past that and straight to insulting and rude more often than not. I think most of what she said was supposed to be funny, but this one could’ve done with a bit of the less is more school of thought. I did like Declan, but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why he kept going back for more with Avery. He had plenty of demons to deal with, and it just felt like her attitude was one he could get away from. When you spend that much time just wanting him to walk away it doesn’t bode well for any kind of hopes about the romance. On a positive note, you can’t read this one without the feeling that the author loves New Orleans. The descriptions of the city are vivid and paint a picture that is easy to visualize. That said, the setting turned out to be the best part of this one for me. As this is a debut, and my biggest issue lay with my feelings about Avery, I will check out future works from this author. She does show talent, and I’ll be interested to see how her writing develops with future books.
Simply Amazing, Entertaining and completely sexy! The story of Declan McGinn and Avery Barrows will rock your world and want you to keep turning pages. Avery is on vacation in New Orleans – when she is literally run into to by the sexy, dark bad boy Declan. Avery has some self-image issues – Declan has abandonment issues as they work things in this book it will melt your heart.

Moonlight & Whiskey is the first book I have read by Tricia Lynne. Make sure you have everything you need to binge read!
In Moonlight & Whiskey, we meet Avery, a woman full of wit and sarcasm, and Declan, a bar owner and musician. When they first meet, Declan gets the full side of no filter Avery and it is funny. As the book progresses each of the characters has their own past to overcome and roadblocks occur.
I loved that Tricia Lynne was able to incorporate realism into Moonlight & Whiskey. I also loved that Avery came out of the shell she had put herself in and let her true self show. I was also able to connect with Avery throughout the book as she let her issues with her past out. While there was chemistry between Avery and Declan, I found myself not connecting with Declan. Overall, I liked the book and would definitely recommend it.
Avery Barrows follows the rules set for her by the Good Ol’ Boys club all while her best friend tries to get her to be herself. She’s quite jaded as her past relationships have all ended badly. A girls trip to New Orleans is just the thing she needs even if she doesn’t know it.
Declan McGinn is scarred by his past. The mom who left him, the father who couldn’t get over her leaving. Having a relationship with a woman isn’t in his plans.
This book hooked me from the beginning. It had an awesome opening and the story built from there. It has a great mixture of humor, drama, romance and adventure. The characters are well created and very lifelike.
I liked the heroine isn’t the typical size 2 and that she’s aware of herself. I loved that the hero was able to be himself even if he was a bit bossy.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will definitely be looking for more.
As a society, it’s time we change it up a little. Beauty is more than a pretty face and fit body. Happiness is more than how we look and how we are perceived to be. A beautiful person can hide an ugly heart. Sexiness is about not just the window dressing, but the person that dwells underneath. Moonlight & Whiskey has the power to shake up some hearts, even as it opens minds. Tricia Lynne proves that it’s all about the heart when it comes to sex appeal. Temptation with a bit of cliche equals a sensually stunning tale of self empowerment.
Ok I’m guessing this is Tricia’s debut book and it is amazing!!! I absolutely loved this book, I feel into such a world that I never wanted to leave. And I hope that we get some more stories out of some secondary characters. Every girl or woman can connect to Avery in some form or fashion if bot her then her best friend Kat and I love books where you can connect so deeply to one of the characters. Where it sometimes feels like the author has spoken to you and is writing a book about your life. And then you meet guys like Declan and you want to believe on it so bad but all of your past experiences says it’s all going to blow up in your face so you keep trying to blow it off. Ugh this book has everything in it and it feels like she has been writing forever!! I can’t wait to read more of her books!!! I love finding new authors and especially love finding them in the beginning of their amazing career. I highly recommend this book!!! – By Tina
Moonlight and Whiskey is Tricia Lynne’s debut novel, but you wouldn’t know it from reading it. She will be added to my must read authors!
Moonlight and Whiskey brings us Avery and Declan in an emotional and steamy rockstar romance. I fell in love with Avery from the first page. This girl cracks me up. The mouth on her is what I aspire to be someday. Declan is so swoon-worthy. Though they don’t start off on the right foot, those sparks fly when they come together. This book will put you through the emotional wringer and then leave you feeling complete. You’ll wanna smack them both but hug them tight. I highly recommend and Tricia, I can’t wait what new stories you’ll be bringing us next.
It is very rare when a book knocks me off my feet. It is even rarer when that book keeps me off balance for the entire book. Moonlight & Whiskey did that to me. I loved it!!
I loved Avery. I knew I was going to like her when she was getting a Brazillian. My loving her was cemented by the fact that she was relatable. She did have her issues, though. She was afraid of being hurt and kept walls up. Her past with men was horrible. Some of the situations that she had been through made me tear up. Even in the present, she was treated horribly because she was plus size. Miss Piggy and chubs were two of the more awful ones that were in there. How she dealt with the people who put her down was epic.
Declan was sex on a stick. He had me from the minute he walked into Avery. My mental image of him was well kinda like Jason Momoa. No one else existed for him except Avery. I loved that. I also liked that he, too, was relatable. He did awful things in the past. Things that he was still atoning for. He wasn’t perfect. That made him more real to me.
There is a lot of sex in Moonlight & Whiskey. A lot of sex. A lot of different types of sex. Anal. Vanilla. Sex in public (twice). Sex in the shower. Blowjob in front of friends. The author did not hold back and I loved it. Normally I don’t like it when half of the book takes place in bed. But in this case, I was OK with it. It didn’t take away from the book. Mainly because Avery and Declan were getting to know each other on a personal level while going at it like rabbits.
I loved the secondary characters also. Jamie, Matt, Shaun, Kat. They were as fleshed out and relatable as Avery and Declan. I will admit that I was confused with the whole Matt, Declan, Avery pseudo-triangle until it was spelled out at the end of the book. At that point, I went, “Oh okay, now everything makes sense.” But up until that point, I was oh so confused.
I want to get into the end of the book. Oh man, I have so many opinions about what happened between Declan and Avery. But, I can’t because I’d be giving away some major spoilers. I will say that I would have thought the same thing as Avery. I also would have done the same thing also.
You will need tissues for the last few chapters of the book too. There will be happy tears. There will be surprised tears. There will be mad tears. Let’s cut to the chase, you will be a blubbering mess. I know I was. The author did a fantastic job of wrapping up the Avery and Declan’s storylines. But I do hope that she goes on to write Jamie/Kat’s story and Matt’s story. They need to be told.
I really enjoyed this debut! Avery was a strong independent woman and Declan was to die for! I look forward to reading more by Tricia.
As daring and seductive as the city of New Orleans itself, this is a story of a woman opening up to herself…and also to a smoking hot rock star with a panty-incinerating Irish accent.
This has always been a city of transgression and possibility, which makes it the perfect backdrop for these characters’ journey.
A little bit kinky and a whole lot of fun!
A beautiful hot heartfelt read. Love Avery and Declan’s story. Love how they tear each other’s walls down and give with all their hearts.
Avery Barrows is tired of being treated like crap by guys. They cannot accept that she may be a little curvier than most girls and they mostly cannot accept that she is smart and damn good at her job as a mechanical engineer. Needing a break from her real life Avery and her best friend Kat, a retired super model, decide to head to New Orleans for a week of fun.
After checking into their hotel Avery crashes into the best looking guy she has ever seen and lets loose her smart mouth attitude. What she doesn’t realize is that this guy, Declan McGinn, is very attracted to her curvy figure and especially her smart mouth. After finally convincing her that he wants to take her to dinner to apologize for running into her, the sparks begin to fly. Things quickly heat up between these two but just as it looks like they will get a perfect happy ending, demons from both of their pasts come haunting back. It will take a huge leap of faith for both Avery and Declan to get to that happy ending, but they do.
I just loved this story. Both of these characters were so fun, as were their friends. Many times I’d find myself just laughing out loud while reading this. This story was also sexy and fun. I was just in New Orleans in October of 2018 so it was fun reliving all the places I had been to. Overall this was a fun, sexy read with great characters and a great first book for a new author. I look forward to reading Kat’s story!
Moonlight & Whiskey is a fabulous debut that is sure both scorch your heart and ignite your very soul. This story shocked my system with its superb realism, sizzling heat, and breathtaking honesty. My heart was utterly shattered, unabashedly cherished, and supremely set aflame. What I found within these pages transformed the way I see people around me. I understand now that there is so much more then will ever be seen at one glance. People are infinitely more complex than any story that will ever be written, but at their heart their needs and desires are all the same. Life sometimes twists us into overly complex people in how we learn to deal with those around us. However, our hearts beat the same and no matter how we fight it, we need each other more then we will ever know.
A simple vacation for Avery Barrows sets her on a life-changing journey that challenges the way she sees herself and opens her heart to the greatest adventure she could ever ask for. Just when she finds herself on the cusp of something new and freeing, Declan Barrows shows her what has been painfully missing. His captivating eyes forever challenge her to push her boundaries while his rough hands savor every delicate inch of her. Unfamiliar with the lavish and overpowering attention of a man with honest intentions, Avery is unsure if she can afford to let her heart lead her down the path that is set before her. Confused and dazed Avery finds herself balancing on a precipice that will either send her barreling towards an ecstasy induced heaven or a painfully bitter heartache. Will Declan be there to catch her when she falls, or will Avery find herself enduring the excruciating pain of moving forward without the powerful presence and gentle care of the enigmatic yet loving Declan.
Declan and Avery took my heart by storm. I wasn’t prepared for them or the power of their story. My heart couldn’t contain everything I felt during this incredible story. It was too big, too complex, and too rich for just one person to house. This needs to be felt and experienced by everything strong enough to endure a real yet rewarding love story firmly rooted in real life. While I enjoy fiction for its innate virtues, my heart thrives on emotions and people and situations that reflect reality moreso then imagination alone. Power is born from vulnerability, and this story celebrates and revels in it. Never be afraid or ashamed of allowing others to see the real you. Only then can we form the deep connections that our very soul needs in order to live and thrive.
Tricia Lynne has created a superb masterpiece that is sure to delight, entertain, and set your very soul on fire! Nothing is as pure and perfect as writing from the depths of your heart, and Lynne has proved that with flying colors. I am completely and totally in love with this book and the marvelous characters that fill it. This author has graced us with a gold standard story, and has raised the bar for other debut authors! I see great things in Lynne’s future, and I am excited to see what she creates next!
Truly a book of all emotions, from the lows to the highs. This book has you laughing, then crying and then on top of the world. Life surely took these 2 and put them thru the wringer before putting them both back together better than they could ever be apart. Awesome read!!!
