“Super sexy! Against a sensual New Orleans backdrop, Moonlight & Whiskey follows a woman’s journey toward acceptance of her body and herself.”—Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss QuotientWhen life gives you curves, you gotta learn how to rock them. Successful businesswoman Avery Barrows likes her dips and curves, but she’s sick of the haters telling her that she should be ashamed of her body … her that she should be ashamed of her body instead of embracing it. Determined to send them a big f*** you, Avery resolves to cut loose during a girls’ trip, hightailing her quick-mouthed, plus-sized self to New Orleans. So, what’s a smart woman with a little extra gotta do to get laid in this town?
Not much if you ask Declan McGinn, the lead singer of BlackSmith. Tall, dark, and tattooed, with a body made for sin, Declan prefers his women as curvy as his guitars. Avery’s sharp tongue and keen mind makes him want her even more.
As they burn up the sheets, Avery and Declan realize this is no one-night (or even one-week) stand. But for all of her bluster, Avery isn’t sure she can handle any more rejection. Besides, Declan has demons of his own. Now Avery has a choice to make: play it safe, or place her trust in the hands of a man who’s as tempting as the devil himself.
Praise for Moonlight & Whiskey

So good. Avery and Declan, wow. They both had childhoods that left them scarred. They were able to open up to each other about what happened in their lives. LOVED when Avery figured out how Declan felt about her. I’m hoping the series continues with others in the band.
When Avery Barrows agreed to go to New Orleans with her friend, Kat, she was looking for some fun…and man did she find it! Her sassy mouth and big chest can sure get her into trouble…
Hottie bad-boy Musician Declan McGinn may have been turned on as much by Avery’s mouth as her body…a body that isn’t “model-like”, but has just the right curves for him.
The only thing that I wasn’t completely on board with was the way Avery was such a rude B, and yet Declan kept coming back to her. I don’t think women need to be that way to a guy, and she was over and over…especially the first time they met.
Overall though, I loved this fun, hot, sexy storyline and the characters were great! Avery, Declan, Katia, Matt, Jamie, all of them added so perfectly to this book! I liked the conflict and the resolution…and overall just really enjoyed this book and would recommend it!
The synopsis of this one and that cover made me very interested. I requested it months ago and finally got a chance to read it and I was sucked in from the beginning. This was a darker romance than I’m used to reading but I appreciated it. I liked having flawed characters and seeing all the dark and dirty bits of their personalities. Tricia Lynne did an amazing job showing the beauty and darkness and wicked of New Orleans and of a person’s soul. She melded the lighter, funnier parts of the story nicely with the darker subjects and insecurities of all the characters involved. Her writing was perfect and lent to this book great. I loved this debut novel by Tricia and I know that I will be reading more by her in the future.
I loved Avery from the very beginning. She had a foul mouth with a quick temper that made that mouth get away from her quickly. She was strong, sexy, sassy, flawed, beautiful, and filled darkness that is explained when reading the book and learning her story. I connected with Avery and understood why she was so defensive before I even knew the details of her backstory. Just hearing her experience with douchebag men made it very clear why she had so many walls put up and did not think she was good enough. I swooned over Declan right away. Give me a man with tattoos and I will take notice. I loved Declan and how deep his character was just like Avery. He had his demons from his past and was flawed, handsome, beautiful, and filled with that same darkness as Avery.
The two of them together was explosive, and so freaking beautiful. Seeing their darkness collide and recceed ever so slowly was amazing to watch. I loved how they opened up to each other and but also tried to keep their walls up to protect themselves. Both of them thought they were not good enough for the other because of their demons not knowing that was why they were perfect for each other. While Avery and Declan were the stars of this novel, the supporting cast held their own too. I loved Matthias more than I thought I would. I want him to get his own story and find his own love. Kat and Jamie were good together too and I liked Shuan and Sadie too. Their group all together melded well together and just worked.
This is one of my top romance reads of this year so far. I did not expect to like it as much as I did but it was an amazing read and I cannot wait to see what Tricia Lynne comes up with next!
This was a steamy story that takes place on a girls trip to New Orleans. Curvy engineer, Avery, meets hot as hell, but reserved, Declan, the front man for a local rock band. Tricia Lynne has a knack for pulling you into the story with her vivid descriptions and alluring story line. This story is super heated. I just couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for the next one from this author.
Oh my goodness!! Where has this author been my whole life?!?
This is the first book by this author, but it will not be my last!!
This is the story of Declan and Avery, and holy hell what a fantastic story this is!!
What starts as a girls weekend becomes so much more!
Avery is my new hero! A curvy girl with a sharp tongue, hard fist and yet has the self doubt and insecurities that girls with curves sometimes have. I absolutely loved she was a girl with curves, a full figured gal. Her inner voice was like an echo to me. I could totally relate.
Declan!! Oh my sweet heaven, that man is the bomb! He is everything you could ask for in a book boyfriend. He is rough, he is swoony and oh so smexy! The steaminess of this man is off the charts!
Avery and Declan’s chemistry is hotter than hot! Their moments together are epic!
This is a love story that is gritty and raw and oh so beautiful in it’s complexity!
You can feel the walls that both main characters have constructed around themselves and can understand why.
I also fell in love with the secondary characters and hope that they get their own stories!
I can’t tell you how much I loved this story and could not put it down!
***4 Stars***
Not gonna lie, the word Whiskey was the hook and then I saw curves and New Orleans and I knew I had to dive in and I really enjoyed this book. From the first page I was hooked and even though I wanted to reach out and Gibbs smack some of the characters (numerous times) the sweet, swoon worthy and smexy moments more than made up for them and kept me turning the pages until the very end.
I loved Avery. She’s sassy, snarky and yet is still searching for who she wants to be. She has all the key components, but she’s unsure of where to go with them. Though she comes across as strong and confident, her body image issues have a way of messing with her head, which held her back in a lot of situations. Declan is all kinds of laid back alpha male. He is a bad boy gentleman with more charisma than he knows what to do with. He has a few demons riding him hard and they tend to hold him back from what he wants most.
Declan and Avery’s journey was an enjoyable one. The chemistry between them was obvious from their first collision, but boy did their issues get in their way many, many times. I swear the urge to reach out and shake them was strong as they decided they KNEW what the other wanted or what was best for them…and all of it was decided as they had conversations in their own heads with themselves. It was maddening. But I couldn’t deny that they WERE good together and had the chance to be great for each other if they could only get over themselves. Things of course go south, and it was rough, and though I found what brought them to their senses was actually a great way to do it, I would have liked a little more…grovelling, but all in all I’m happy with how it all worked out for them.
This is my first read by the author and it was an enjoyable one. The writing was engaging, pacing good and I think she nailed it on body issues and how they affect our perceptions of ourselves. As for the secondary characters, I really liked Jaime, Matt and Shaun but Kat was definitely my favorite. But I’m hoping that there will be more from this crew, and author in the future!

Man, these characters were intense, especially at the end. Declan is the hot tattooed singer who literally runs into Avery, a plus sized, engineer who is visiting New Orleans while on vacation with her best friend Kat. I loved the chemistry between all of these characters, especially Declan and Avery. Avery’s sassy, sharped tongued mouth was a huge bonus to this story, loved the fact that she was not the perfect sized woman, and that Declan loved that about her. If anyone has been to NOLA, a lot of the sites that are referenced in the book are very familiar, especially the cemetery, where I have personally been to and seen that exact spot, so it was pretty cool to have that familiarity with the story. The steamy scenes between these two were off the charts hot! Kat and Jamie were a couple that I would love to read about next, and Matthias is going to be another complicated story to read and enjoy. I’ve got to say, there are a lot of very intense scenes that really make you think about the dark side of ones issues in life. It really made you think about what the characters were and had gone through in their pasts, and I really loved that about this story, especially the end, just wow! Very well worth the read, will definitely add this to my paperback library.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
I picked up this book because I LOVE Rocker romances. There is just something about a bad boy….. any who, I read the blurb and thought, this seems right up my alley! And a newly published author too! I couldn’t resist. I love finding new authors to love! But, sadly, it’s always a risk. Sometimes, you get a new author that isn’t really all that great, or their story doesn’t make sense, or they forget they need to proofread. And then other times, you find that jewel in the rough, just waiting to be let loose on the world, to share their amazing talent with readers everywhere. And that is where this book fits in. I absolutely adored this book! From the instant connection between the characters, to the descriptions that are so vivid, I can actually picture the amazingness that is New Orleans. From the steamy love scenes, to the parts that ripped my heart in two, this author put together a book that I could not put down, even if I’d had to.
Avery is a woman who knows who she is, but feels she has to hide it. She is a woman in a man’s world, trying to get ahead by keeping her head down and working hard. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but she seems to have lost parts of herself in the process. So she takes a girl’s trip with her bestie to the Crescent City, hoping to find the part of herself she’s hidden away for too long.
Declan is a musician with a past that he doesn’t talk about, a past that has jaded him to all things relationship. He wasn’t looking for her, but he burst into her world and couldn’t keep himself away from her.
These two…..Lets just say, I was laughing so hard I was crying by the third chapter. They had such an electric connection, but they also challenged each other. This book has the bad boy, the good girl that is letting out her bad girl, and a bit of New Orleans mysticism thrown in for good measure. Declan and Avery made a perfect couple, despite their differences, and their story is one that will stick with me for a long time to come!
Well this book came dangerously close to a DNF for me. I persevered and finished it pondering what did I really read? And did I like it?? The answer is yes and no.
I liked Avery-at first. I can get behind a woman standing tall in who she is, and Avery is funny and smart too! I was not drawn in by her “wild” side when it came out. She was so very rude slinging insults to any and everyone! Plus she was just too handsy with Declan’s friends! I had to wonder what Declan saw in her! I liked him way more and that was what made me finish the book.
Ultimately, some will love this book, but I just was soured by the heroine and what she offered the hero.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc from the publisher through NetGalley. The rating and review are my opinion.
Moonlight & Whiskey (Kindle Edition) by Tricia Lynne This the first book I have read by Tricia Lynne and I give it 4 stars.. thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. This book has a lot of steamy sex and talk.. This is Avery and Declan’s story ..she fears rejection and he has his own demons. There are a lot of laughs, some tears, doubts and angst all to get to a HEA. I enjoyed the other characters in this book and hope there will be more books with their stories.
Whiskey & Moonlight
By Tricia Lynne
The romance reader world is quite large. You are always seeing blurbs about new books and being encouraged to follow new authors. And if you’re like me, yeah, you’ll occasionally try out a new author but mostly you stick to your tried and true. At least until that new author gets some traction. I heard the buzz around Whiskey & Moonlight. Especially about the first couple of scenes (and believe me they were NOT wrong) so I took a chance and decided to give this book a go.
Usually, this is where I give a snippet of the book. You know tease you into wanting to read it for yourself. Read the blurb for the book. READ IT. It is that and SO MUCH MORE. From the very beginning, this book had me. I want to be Avery. Her…personality, spirit, mojo? I don’t know what to call it but it leaped off the pages. Tricia Lynne did such a fantastic job, not just painting a picture of the main characters, Avery & Declan but the sub-characters? JUST AS WONDERFUL. Not only were the characters phenomenal but the way Tricia Lynne built the story and the locations and the ambiance….all of it just melded together into perfection.
I will finish by saying for her first book Tricia Lynne knocked it out of the park, home run, touchdown, whole in one and all those other sports analogies that mean this book IS THE SH*T! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll pull out a notebook to write down all the great phrases tossed around in this book!! As for me? I’m going back to read it again!!!
Let’s start with what I really like about this book: it’s title. “Moonlight and Whiskey” evokes romantic images for me. Then add a great location–New Orleans. Add the hero: a hot rocker musician with a bit of an Irish brogue. Add the heroine: a spicy, not-afraid-to-tell-it-like it is woman who is willing to grab life and enjoy it. All the makings of a good book. I should like it.
But unfortunately, I didn’t. Maybe it just wasn’t my style?
The author–Tricia Lynne did a wonderful job of describing New Orleans. I love books that help us feel like we’re really there. She did a wonderful job of describing the unique people that the heroine–Avery–met while vacationing in New Orleans with her friend Kat. She even delved a bit into voodoo and Cajun culture, which was very interesting.
But I think Avery was just a bit too “rough around the edges” for me. I’m not a prude and I don’t mind swearing in books, but sometimes there was just too that didn’t move the story forward. And some of the discussions between the two friends seemed a bit crass and unnecessarily graphic. It didn’t really move the story forward, and at times it seemed unrealistic. I wasn’t sure if a woman in a serious, loving relationship would reveal some of the things about her boyfriend that Avery willingly spilled to her friend Kat. I think that for most women, some of those things would be too personal.
But again, maybe that’s just me.
/Rcvd An ARC at no cost to author(netgalley) Hmm I wasn’t crazy about Avery she kept saying she was this badass b*tch but was constantly whining, her first meeting with Declan was ridiculous she didn’t have to go all Rambo to him, I honestly didn’t know why he liked her. These two drove me crazy with there back and forth, with holding walls up not making decisions. Please there comes a time in your life that you need to man up and make a firm decision., yes they eventually got back together after both flipping out of two misunderstandings.. I personally liked the secondary characters better. But I doubt I will read the rest..
