The de Vincent brothers are back—and so is the intrigue that surrounds them—in New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sizzling new novel . . . Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up . . . and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for … where Nikki grew up . . . and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.
Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman . . . one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.

Jennifer L. Armentrout’s De Vincent series is evocative romance with a dash of mystery and suspense, and the wealthy, powerful, enigmatic and possibly cursed de Vincent brothers are downright addicting.
In Moonlight Seduction, middle brother Gabe finds himself wanting the one woman he shouldn’t — Nikki. As the daughter of two of his family’s long-term, beloved household employees, he’s known her for her entire life. She was desperately in love with him when she was 18 until he broke her heart, and they haven’t seen or spoken with each other in the four years since. Now, she is home from college, and Gabe can no longer deny that he is attracted to her. As they reestablish their connection and confront their past, their feelings intensify, the sexual tension escalates and their longing for each other is palpable. But someone is threatening Nikki and could derail their love story before it has even had a chance to begin.
Moonlight Seduction is a heady blend of provocative mystery, cleverly plotted suspense and sexy, heartfelt romance set on the steamy Louisiana bayou.
4.5 stars. Let me start by saying that I am madly in love with the de Vincent brothers. I was sure Lucian was going to be my favorite, but now that I’ve spent time with Gabe I’m torn. I love a good slow burn, and this one was delicious. There was good banter between Gabe and Nikki and plenty of chemistry. Nikki was such a sweetheart, and I definitely understood why she was drawn to Gabe. Once again I enjoyed the suspense element of the story. The De Vincent family certainly has a twisted past and many secrets hidden away. I can’t wait for Devlin’s book! Rosie is a hoot, and I’m excited to see how she handles Devlin.
I’m a huge fan of JLA. I’ve read most–if not all–of her books . She’s one of my favorite authors especially when it comes to NA romance. Therefore, it’s not a huge leap to assume I would adore these books too. I mean it’s JLA. I was sent a finished copy of Moonlight Sins a month or so ago, but I held off on reading it because I wanted to be able to read and review both of these books back to back. Honestly, I can’t believe I was able to hold off for so long. I knew from the moment we met Gabe in Moonlight Sins that he was going to be my favorite of the brothers. I’ll explain why a little later.
Plot
Nikki never imagined she would actually work at the de Vincent’s household, but when her mom is diagnosed with cancer Nikki steps in to help her parents. Her parents are older and cannot afford to pay for her chemo with only one income nor do they want to let the de Vincent’s down. So, Nikki does what any good daughter would do: she becomes the new maid and cook for the de Vincent family. This means that Nikki will have to face Gabe after all of these years. How will he react when he sees her? How will she react when she sees him? No one knows that they had a falling out years ago…and nobody knows why either. Throw in the fact that the house is rumored and believed to be haunted and the infamous de Vincent curse: all of the women in the de Vincent family either end up dead or mentally unstable, and you have a jam-packed story. This story is full of twists, suspense, and romance. You’ll be wondering which occurrences are supernatural related and who exactly is trustworthy.
Characters
I adored Nikki she’s a spitfire. She doesn’t take flak from anyone which I admire. Nic is also fiercely loyal, trustworthy, kind, and sarcastic–all of my favorite qualities. I enjoyed watching her stand her ground against rich, pompous, entitled jerks throughout the story. Yet Nic also has the most tender and loving heart. She’s one of those people who will help people just out of the goodness of her heart. We all need to be a bit more like Nic.
Now, Gabe on the other hand, is hard to put into words. I love him sooooo much. Gabe is known as the nicer and calmer de Vincent. In this book, we get to delve into Gabe’s life and learn how he operates. If you haven’t read the first book then all you need to know is that Gabe recently found out that he has a 5-year-old son from his college sweetheart, Emma. But, the only reason he found out is because Emma was in a car accident which ended up taking her life.
Needless to say, Gabe is not in a good place so Nikki showing up unannounced after all of these years is a shock. A shock that Gabe does not handle well at all. But, honestly, that makes him that much more relatable. He’s far from perfect and he makes tons of mistakes due the conflicting beliefs and desires of his heart and his mind.
Romance
JLA always kills it in the romance department. This romance was a tad more believable/not as rushed as the romance in Moonlight Sins. JLA crafts such an honest and beautiful relationship between Gabe and Nic. I love that they have always been close. If you’re a sucker for a second chance romance then this is your book.
Overall
I devoured this book. I had so many questions about the de Vincent family and household, as usual, so I sped through the book in hopes of finding the answers to my questions. Some of my questions were answered but one burning question I have hasn’t been answered yet. I suspect that it will be answered in the 3rd book–which I can’t wait to read. Overall, I enjoyed this book so much. Gabe and Nikki are the absolute cutest. I definitely recommend this book.
If you know me, you know how I feel about this author. She is one of my all time favorites, and I would read the damn phonebook (do they still make those?) if she wrote it. This series. THIS. SERIES. I just can’t even with it. It is gaining traction and moving up my list of favorites which surprises me because I put off starting it. Book one was great, but this one has stolen my heart. The story between Nikki and Gabe is just wonderful and full of tension and witty snarky banter and steamy forbidden sex. Add in the mysterious setting in the giant creepy house in Louisiana, the shady family history, the secrets, the lies, the DRAMA. Read it. Start with Moonlight Sins though. And be ready to be sad that book 3 isn’t out yet, because I certainly am, and now I remember that this is why I don’t start her stuff before the series is complete!
**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review**
Moonlight Seduction is sexy, sinful and down right addictive. This story will suck you in from the very first page and will leave you utterly captivated. You will be 100% hooked on each written word and will find yourself unable to put this book down.
Moonlight Seduction is told from dual points of view and picks up pretty much where the last book left off. Only this time, we get Gabe and Nikki’s story…..The last place Nikki ever thought she’d find herself was back at the de Vincent home. But, when her mom gets sick, she has no choice but to return home and help her mom out. Filling in for her mom should be easy, but seeing Gabe again brings a whole set of challenges to the surface. You see, Nikki has been in love with Gabe for as long as she can remember. She thought she left her feelings in the past, but being in this house stirs up all the memories…all the pain. She tries to stay away, but how can she when Gabe is determined to make his presence known…..For years, Gabe has felt guilty for the way things were last left off with Nikki. He’s wanted nothing more than to talk with her and make things right. He knows he should keep away from her, but he just can’t fight the pull. Things are different now. The same excuses don’t seem to work. Gabe’s eyes have finally been opened and he’s now a man on mission. He will do anything to get what he wants and will do anything to keep his family safe. And when a new threat presents itself, Gabe’s devotion will be put to the test…..
Man, Oh, Man! This series is a total new favorite for me by this author. It is additive, consuming and completely captivating. The writing is brilliant and the story-line is just so intriguing. I mean, how can you not be fascinated by the de Vincent family?? The money. The stigma. The lies. The deceit. The curse. I love learning more and more with each book. And if that wasn’t enough, you have the de Vincent brothers. They are a lethal combination in more ways than you could imagine. Mysterious. Cold. Rude. And Sexy as ever. They are perfectly imperfect and you won’t find a more devoted family. They will protect one another, no matter the cost…
And that brings us to Gabe. He frustrated me like no other. He was everything you could want in a bad boy. He definitely wasn’t perfect and always seemed to say the wrong thing. But, when he messed up, he more than made up for it. He was passionate, determined and just the guy to turn Nikki’s world upside down. And Nikki…She has such a big heart and the patience of a saint. She tolerated a lot more than I would have, but definitely knew how to play the game. She’s the kind of girl you’d kill to have in your corner.
I just loved Nikki and Gabe together. Their chemistry was explosive. You could tell the connection and feelings these two had were genuine. I loved their pull and the would they/won’t they moments. Nikki fell hard and fast for Gabe when she was just 16 years old and despite how much she wished it was different, those feelings never faded. Their journey to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one. Not only did Gabe make things hard for her, but this is the de Vincent family!!! You know there would be crazy things thrown their way. All I can say is just sit back and enjoy. You are about to be taken on one heck of a ride!!
Moonlight Seduction was a thrilling read from beginning to end. It had me on the edge of my seat and kept me begging for more. From mystery and intrigue to danger and some seriously sexy good times, this book had it all. The story-line is captivating and will just leave you breathless. I am positively hooked on this series and can not be more excited to get my hands on Moonlight Scandals. I have a feeling that one is just going to knock me off my feet.
I received an ARC of Moonlight Seduction in return for an honest review. Now, I love JLA’s books but something about the de Vincent brothers just isn’t clicking for me. I really thought after reading Moonlight Sins that Gabe would be my favorite brother. Nope, it’s Lucian. For some reason, I thought this book was going to be a second chance romance between Gabe and Emma. I just didn’t really connect with this book like I was hoping too. I loved catching up with Lucian and Julia though. I’m pretty nervous about the final book. If you like alpha males and a little mystery to go along with it, this is the series for you! I don’t know what kind of magic JLA has up her sleeves to make us fall for Devlin.
I absolutely enjoyed Gabe and Nikki’s story. I’m becoming a huge fan of this scandalous and a bit crazy family. Second chance romances are usually one of my favorites and when you throw into the mix some suspense, action, intrigues and a bit of mystery, then I’m completely sold. This book had all the feels a typical JLA book has and her trademark signature all over it. It grabbed me from page one and I was grinning like an idiot with the witty banter between Gabe and Nikki and their slow-burning feelings that they were both trying to fight. It was such a sweet build-up of emotions that will make you sigh, swoon and melt your heart.
I had a thing for Gabe since Moonlight Sins and after its ending, I was so eager to dive into his story. He pissed me off a bit at the beginning with his stupid attempt to play cold and trying to distance himself. I wanted to shake him really badly and maybe slap him a time or two 🙂 It was obvious to me that he was a nice, kind, attentive guy who loved deeply and was very protective of his family. For various reasons, he was trying to hide this attraction for Nikki, but it was too strong and impossible to suppress for too long.
Nikki was also trying on all cost to protect her heart and not show her true feelings. She seemed pretty vulnerable on the inside, but I loved her feistiness and the way she didn’t put up with anyone purposefully trying to hurt her. And boy, there were quite a few of those.
The suspense element in this story wasn’t as strong in this book as it was in the first one, but the romance part was swoonworthy and completely warmed my heart. There was a long time of push and pull and building of anticipation, but it was so worth it at the end.
You could feel the sexual tension flowing from the pages. This slow-burning desire and undeniable chemistry between Gabe and Nikki were off the charts hot. And little by little this simmering fire turned into a raging inferno.
When they finally succumbed to their feelings and gave up to the temptation and I was melting under this sweet romantic relationship that was growing stronger with each page, and then BAM – everything went out of control in one second. The ending part was so action-packed but also eye-opening for both of them.
This was a truly beautiful story – light, sweet, sexy but with a touch of suspense and mystery. It was the full package.
Besides, I’m falling madly in love with this whole family and their weird history and the scandals that surround them. It was so good to see how Lucian and Julia’s relationship has progressed in this book. My heart was overflowing with joy every time they made an appearance. Although this is the second book in this series it could be read as a stand-alone. All the important details from book one were explained in here, but if you plan on reading them all, I advise you to start from Moonlight Sins, because you may get spoiled for it if you read Gabe and Nikki’s story first.
With all that said, I highly recommend this book. It was cute, not overly dramatic, but with some serious nail-biting moments at the ending part. The writing is beautiful and has Jen’s unmistakable style all over. It will captivate you from the start, make you sigh, swoon, laugh, drool, shout and maybe want to kill a character or two, but I guarantee – you would be sucked in this story and wouldn’t want it to end.
And now with everything that happened at the end, I can’t wait to get to the bottom of all those scandalous things remaining to be revealed in Moonlight Scandals and I’m so curious for Devlin’s story. I know it will be worth the wait, cause under that hard exterior I feel we’ll find another De Vincent brother to swoon over.
I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Gabe’s story was quite intriguing even from the first book “Moonlight Sins”. And I really wondered what Nic’s connection to him would be.
So, while the story was slow burning and had some funny moments, I didn’t expect it to escalate in that scale towards the end. The house was creepy once more, Dev was a cold-hearted man (or he is the best actor I’ve ever seen) and Nic knew how to keep her cool with Sabrina the b*ch.
And Gabe despite being a hypocritical jerk at the beginning of the book, opened and warmed up to me as a character making me liking him towards the end. But to be honest, I knew from Jennifer’s mentions on Facebook about Rosie and Dev, so even that ONE scene I got with those two together made me even more excited for the final book of the series.
Because seriously I imagine Rosie storming into the house Ghostbusters style, with Dev cringing every time she bumps into precious china, vases, and paintings.
Gabe just doesn’t understand what’s going inside his woman’s mind at times, “what the ***l? “I don’t give a da*n about the flowers. Are you okay?” Nikki is quite the little firecracker, “then how about your clean your apartments then?” Surprise parted his lips. “I mean, you are a grown man who is more than capable of changing his own bed sheets and picking up after himself,” she snapped…” Gabe holds back no punches, “he tilted his head. “Yes. I was going to say eff, but having *** sounds more . . . tame.” Gabe is just so honest, “I woke up early and couldn’t fall back to sleep. I was thinking about Saturday night, about how amazing my ***k felt against your ***.” Just like the first book in the series, I fell in love with this one. I missed these men and I can’t wait for Devlin’s book.
4.5 stars
Moonlight Seduction by Jennifer L. Armentrout is book Two in the de Vincent series. This is the story of Nicolette Bresson and Gabriel de Vincent. I have read the previous book (and Loved iT!) but feel this is easily a standalone book.
Nikki mom and dad work for the de Vincent family since she was little….they are a very private family with some questionable things being done that makes them insure loyalty. So when her mother gets sick with cancer Nikki comes home to help her parents with the workload at the house. Nikki used to have the worst crush on Gabriel but when she was 18 years old she acted on her feelings which quickly ended their ‘friendship’ and she went off to college. So now in the present day when she first sees Gabriel again she is taken back by how much her feelings are still there. Gabriel loved someone once and that didn’t end well so not wanting to go that route with Nikki he tries to be mean to her. But the more he is around her the more he can’t deny the desire he has for her.
I really enjoyed the first book and had waited for this one to come out next. I love Ms. Armentrout writing and hope to read more of her books!!!
