I am back for another review! I know, I know, I am doing a horrible job with reviewing consistently but I have had a lot of medical issues in recent months. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have had bronchitis along with a ton of asthma issues. Anyway, on to what you are here for, the review!
So we are at the end you guys, The final book (?) in the de Vincent novels. I dont know if I want to curl up and cry because its over or be so happy because how amazing it was?
I try to make my reviews spoiler free so I will try to be vague but as clear as I can, which is clear as mud!
This book was filled with so much sass and sarcasm and amazing character growth. When I read the scene from book 2 as a sneak peek to this one, I knew Rosie and Devlin were going to be an amazing couple in my opinion. I love a hate that turns to love romance!
Their chemistry is amazing, and as always JLA throws curveballs from every which way that you never see coming! Do yourself a favor and get Moonlight Scandals. You need lots of Devlin in your life.
I give Moonlight Scandals 5 out of 5 stars!!
Y’all Moonlight Scandals was AHHHHHMAZING. I’ve been a big fan of JLA’s de Vincent series since I first read Moonlight Sins. I loved the setting and getting to learn more about the mysterious de Vincents with each new book, getting some answers while new questions were raised. I’ve been waiting for Devlin’s story since the very beginning and it was everything I wanted and more.
Oh, Devlin. He was totally worth waiting for and he’s my favorite of the bunch. There was so much MORE to him than met the eye. I loved reading along as Rosie peeled back his layers. Rosie was pretty darn amazing in her own right. She didn’t pull any punches or take any crap from anyone, Devlin included. She spoke her mind and I really just enjoyed her outlook on things. I loved the progression of the relationship between Rosie and Devlin, too. They had wickedly hot chemistry and I thought my iPad might explode during a couple scenes. (Devlin’s deliciously filthy mouth played a part in that, too. *fans self*)
Of course, some of the best parts of Moonlight Scandals are things I can’t talk about in my review. I refuse to spoil anything for you. But man, did everything come full circle during this book. My questions were answered and I was on the absolute edge of my seat more than once. If you’ve been reading this series from the beginning, I think you’ll really enjoy this final installment. I’ll read anything and everything Jen writes (and 99% of the time I love it), but this is some of her best work yet. I loved getting immersed in all things NOLA and the de Vincents.
Favorite Quotes:
The only two devils Rosie sort of knew were the perfectly sugared beignets that were to blame for her rounded hips and a de Vincent.
“That takes longer than I’m betting you can last and you’d be begging me to stop while pleading with me to keep going the whole time.”
“You’re not just anything. That’s the biggest lie you’ve told so far.”
The taste of him and the taste of her mingling on their tongues did something to her. It was like being drunk. It was like falling underwater and holding yourself there until your lungs burned and your vision dotted. It was being consumed by blinding lust and there was no sense, no will, no end.
“When I want something, I don’t let it go. Ever.”
Devlin and Rosie and NOPE was a PERFECT combo for this book. In this long awaited conclusion to the Moonlight trilogy, you meet Rosie and come to know lore of the final brother, Devlin. Honestly, I couldn’t put it down! This was a one nighter book for me with lots of humor! It met my expectations of a JLA novel and kept me wanting more at the family’s conclusion. Can’t wait for her next series!!
Well then. I did NOT see all that coming.
I mean, if you’re reading book three in the de Vincent series, you know the family that has born these three hot, yet damaged brothers is seriously messed up. I promise you – you don’t even know the half of it.
Just like you don’t know anything you thought you knew about Devlin de Vincent. I thought I would have a hard time loving this guy. Let’s face it – he’s been hard to love so far. He’s cold, distant and seemingly self-serving. Sometimes I would think he adored his brothers, and other times I wondered if he could care less. It would only take getting inside his head to understand this very complicated man and what motivates him. And once I had that opportunity, I fell as hard for him as I did his brothers.
It helped that Jen Armentrout gave him a delightfully antagonistic love interest in the form of Rosie Herpin. She was exactly what Devlin needed. She didn’t stroke his ego, but rather busted his balls and called him out when he was being a jerk. But, she wasn’t so hard that she didn’t show her soft underbelly at times. That’s what made her perfect to me. She was super strong and brave, but showed vulnerability in just the right moments. And it took Devlin a couple tries before he treated that vulnerability the right way.
Even though each book in this series was it’s own standalone story, there’s been a story arc that’s stretched across them all, and everything comes to a head and wraps up in Moonlight Scandals. And I promise you – you will be surprised. You will be shocked. It’s pretty crazy awesome, actually.
Amid all the secrets and lies being uncovered, Devlin and Rosie do have their super hot, romantic moments. And it tempers everything that’s going on just perfectly. Moonlight Scandals was a great ending to this series. I’m sad to say goodbye to these brothers.
And the de Vincent are back to end their trilogy. And with a lot of suspense in the air, several questions that need answers, a threat of danger prowling, this book comes to spectacularly close the series. What can result from the encounter between the Devil and a ghost hunter? Apparently a lot of confusion.
Devlin is the older brother, the head of the family and now holds the secrets of the de Vincent. Not an easy task. Whoever sees the cold man with calculated moves, not imagine the burden that his work gives him.
Rosie had her share of personal tragedy. In seeking the supernatural, she tries to deal with the past and move on. An unexpected encounter in an unusual location will put her face to face with her object of fascination: Devlin. Who better to arouse interest in a ghost hunting than the heir of the most haunted family?
And Devlin always so measured, can not resist the urge of his feelings for Rosie. Used to living in a world of lies and benefits, he will have a hard time trusting Rosie, which can hurt this relationship. But by allowing himself to be happy for the first time, we will see a Devlin hitherto never shown. But will the ghosts that surround this family, let them live in peace?
Although previous books flirt with the supernatural, this was the book that most touched on this mystical tone. And finally the secrets are revealed, we have the long-awaited answers to the mysteries of the series. My suspicions were correct, I was able to decipher the great riddle of the book. What I did not expect was the suspect’s revelation. Just like the new secret presented. My jaw dropped.
The end was spectacular. I loved the ending of the mansion. There could be no other. Devlin was a big mystery in the previous books, and here it was shown that he had more layers than he appeared. In assuming the position of patriarch, he protected his brothers, but was sinking in a dark world. Everything he experienced had a very big impact on himself. He was the best character of the whole series, without a doubt.
Rosie saw what was true amid the darkness surrounding Devlin. And supported him when he needed it most. A couple who deserved happiness.
I loved the series, it was different from everything I read. The twists and secrets hold attention, the loose ends were tied, the characters were captivating, the plot well developed, and the conclusion did not disappoint. A great read.
Shocked. I started this book thinking Devlin “Devil” de Vincent was going to be hard to like. Was I wrong. Jennifer L Armentrout does it again and again. Her male lead characters often surprise me. They start off seeming as jerks that you will never sympathize with or like. Devlin is starts of so smarmy and ends up loving so fiercely. Is he a bad guy? Is he a good guy? Like Rosie, that is up for your inturpretation. I liked Rosie from the moment she arrived in Moonlight Seduction. She’s smart, witty, sarcastic, hilarious, and so caring. I love how it ventures into the paranormal without actually being a paranormal romance. The twists and turns should be applauded. And, that ending. WHEW! Moonlight Scandals gets all the starts.
This is the first book I have read in the series and I am totally kicking myself in the arse because WOWZER what an amazing book and the De Vincent brother’s are hot as hell and loyal and dedicated and everything in between. I LOVED Rosie and Devlin they really made this book what it was and I could not get enough I needed more because I did not want it to end.
Rosie is such a sweetheart and she is a ghost hunter! I love how she did everything she had to do to help find out what happened to her friend and along the way she discovered things that she never knew and that Devlin was afraid she would find out and hate him but that was not the case.
This is the ending to the series and I will be reading it again because I am going to read from book one all the way through to the end to see what I have missed. I need to know who the De Vincent brother’s are. So go on and one click this series and go on an adventure of a lifetime! You will not regret it or be disappointed.
4.5 stars
I was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this story by the publisher- and Moonlight Scandals definitely lived up to the expectations I had in my mind after finishing Gabe and Nikki’s story Moonlight Seduction! Devlin and Rosie are the definition of opposites attracting, and their story was a great mix of suspense, humor, and heat as the author takes us on a wild ride of revelations and twists.
I absolutely adore Rosie! She is strong, feisty and independent, and she is also no stranger to heartbreak after the death of her high school sweetheart husband Ian ten years ago. She responded to his loss by deciding to live her life to the fullest, embracing the opportunity to have fun at every turn and even earning 3 college degrees that she is trying to decide how to use. Rosie is also an active member of a paranormal investigation team. When one of her friends helps her reach out on the anniversary of Ian’s death to try to contact him, she has an extremely interesting/ scary experience that just may be related to the infamous de Vincent family.
Her first experience with Devlin de Vincent surprises her, but the second one infuriates her. When Gabe shows up on her doorstep to check on Nikki with Devlin in tow, Devlin displays his typical icy demeanor with a side of superiority and absolutely no indication he recalls meeting her the day before. Rosie is not going to let anyone walk all over her, much less stand in her apartment and insult her, so giving him a piece of her mind is no hardship for her! Devlin is shocked then amused and finds himself uncharacteristically intrigued by this woman.
Devlin’s nickname is the Devil for good reason. He has ruthlessly protected both his family’s secrets and his brothers for many years, even if it means crossing lines and keeping his brothers in the dark for their own good. He is certainly a man in need of redemption based on his past actions, and Rosie is a shock to his system. She shows absolutely no fear of him, refuses to treat him like royalty and kiss his butt, and has exactly zero cares to give for his veiled threats and snotty comments. His early childhood experiences and his treatment at the hands of his father have left him emotionally stunted, and he is completely without a compass when it comes to how to react to the feelings Rosie is triggering.
When I said the author takes us on a wild ride of revelations and twists, I meant make sure you are buckled in and paying attention because your mind is about to be blown! I love a good mystery, and I appreciate when a book can still shock and surprise me. Suffice it to say Moonlight Scandals delivered! The only minor detraction for me revolved around the haunting aspect of the story. After the big moments Rosie experienced at the onset of the story, it seemed as though it was going to be more connected to the main plot- but in the end it was more superfluous than relevant. All in all, this was a highly enjoyable read and my favorite book in the series.
I received an e-ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
I KNEW THAT JENNIFER WAS GOING TO LEAVE THE BEST ONE FOR LAST! Devlin, the elusive secretive character from this trilogy has been one of the most anticipated ones, who I wanted to read about even from book one! Knowing that also Rosie was in the mix, I knew that I expected something amazing to go down.
BUT I DIDN’T EXPECT THE PLOT TWISTS! Jesus, one after the other the plot twists kept coming, with a slight touch of supernatural in it. Since the story takes place in New Orleans, I expected nothing less. But Devlin who appeared to be so cold and distanced actually had the most scars of all the brothers. And Rosie, beautiful Rosie with her optimism and a funny character whose heart is so big!
I admit that Dev didn’t act right towards Rosie at the beginning of the book and I wanted to punch him very much, but knowing the danger and the enemies that he has, I forgave him. Just a little. But after chapter 19 the s*t hit the fan and I was scrolling through my Kindle with growing horror and surprise.
You will not be disappointed! Jennifer Armentrout delivers one hell of an amazing conclusion to this series, though I KOW that she MUST write one MORE book here!
WOW! The whole series in two days. Thank goodness for the snowstorm! This one was my favorite and wrapped everything up nicely. There was not as much sexy times in this one but still just as much chemistry between the characters, just not as much sex. Rosie is a ghost hunter and she gets mixed up with Devlin deVincent who everyone is convinced is really the devil. Well, I have been intrigued by Devlin since the first book and it was so good to see him unraveled and boy does he ever! Rosie does not put up with much from him and gives as good as he dishes out which is comical and keeps this story moving. There are many twists and turns and that makes for a splendid read. Overall, I recommend this series. If you can make it through the first book, the second and third are well worth your time!
OMG, this series…so twisty-turny, so atmospheric, such a creepy setting, so filled with “wait…what??? moments–and those de Vincent heroes? Yes, please! 😉
Boy, did Moonlight Scandals have its work cut out for it. It needed to answer all the questions left unanswered by the first two books, pull together all the series’ loose threads into something that finally made sense, and (at long last!) get readers into the head of the biggest mystery of all, Devlin de Vincent. It did not disappoint! The last 25% or so is pretty much one big OMG…WTF? moment after another, and I was absolutely unable to put the book down for even a second until I’d gotten to the end from that point on! (And then I needed a nap. Because I was drained, I tell you.)
Rosie is more than equal to the challenge that Dev brings–every time the two of them are on the page together is pure romance reading gold. I loved that she was a paranormal investigator in her spare time, because of course she was, and that she was incapable of baking without getting covered in flour and sugar (because who isn’t? Obviously her mother and sister use witchcraft to stay clean–that’s just not natural). Her love of beaded curtains and glow in the dark stars also helped to cement her high-up position on my “heroines I’d love to be in another life” list. And did I mention how magic she and Dev are together? Whether they’re at the admitting they’re attracted to each other stage or not, every darn page they’re on together is so much fun to read.
This book really isn’t the one to start with if you haven’t read the other three books, though–I mean, you can definitely get the gist of what’s going on, but to really appreciate all the reveals and twists and turns (not to mention how well we finally get to know and understand Dev here) you need to read the first two books first. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did–it’s an unforgettable ride!
Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Crazy epic suspense and wonderful chemistry filled characters! Definitely a must read!
Moonlight Scandals is the third and final book in the de Vincent trilogy. Moonlight Scandals answers all the questions left unanswered since the first book while delivering an intense romance.
The best aspect of Moonlight Scandals is the intense connection between the main characters, Rosie and Devlin. Their interactions are fraught with anger, tension, and undeniable attraction. Every time they appear on page together, the pages drip with incredible sensual tension. This is no surprise since Armentrout is one of the best romance writers in the market. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough space for their relationship to fully develop.
Moonlight Scandals is a slow moving novel. It isn’t until almost 40% through the novel that the main characters interact in a meaningful way. The beginning of the novel is setting up the various pieces that will come into play later since Moonlight Scandals has to bear the brunt of the work in terms of wrapping up the series. For this reason, Rosie and Devlin’s relationship takes a backseat, so their connection isn’t as fleshed out as the couples in the previous novels.
The twists and turns at the end of the novel are well worth the wait. It’s exciting and exhilarating as all the secrets finally come out and the brothers have no choice but to meet them head on.
Moonlight Scandals is the most paranormal leaning of the three books. While Moonlight Sins and Moonlight Seduction featured moments of paranormal happenings, Moonlight Scandals dives head first with Rosie being a paranormal investigator. I personally did not enjoy this aspect of the novel. I found that it detracted from everything else going on and that the page space could have been better used developing Rosie and Devlin further.
Overall, Moonlight Scandals is a good conclusion to the de Vincent series. It answers all the questions left unanswered while delivering a delicious romance.
Dear readers, meet Devlin de Vincent.
If you have read the other two books in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s de Vincent series (and I suggest you do read Moonlight Sins and Moonlight Seduction prior to reading this one), then you have met Devlin, and he no doubt piqued your curiosity.
With Moonlight Scandals, Devlin finally gets his own story. As hinted in Moonlight Seduction, Armentrout pairs Devlin with Rosie, paranormal investigator and Nikki’s best friend. To say that these two are opposites attracting is to wildly understate the situation. Devlin wears crisp white buttoned dress shirts with tailored dress pants, while Rosie wears whatever strikes her fancy–zany tee shirts, jeans, leggings.
And yet something fundamental connects them, and Jennifer Armentrout’s slow revelation of this connection is one of my favorite parts of this book.
Since we’re talking the de Vincent family, you can be sure that there is a plethora of intrigue, mystery, and CRAZY MESS. In the final quarter of this book, Armentrout unloads so many “these people are NUTS” moments that your head might start to spin. The thing is, though, all of those disclosures make sense. You realize that she set up the drip-drip-drip of revelations with precision and just the right amount of detail. Are you shocked? For about a second or two. Then you sit back and think, “It all makes sense.”
Of course, you can’t have Devlin and not have some heart-pounding, thigh-squeezing sexy times. Strap on your vibrators, girls, because Jennifer L. Armentrout gives you NEEDS.
The heart of this book lies in Devlin, who is far more worthy, far more good than he realizes he is. The man who lurked in the background of his brothers’ books, making you think he was heartless and cold, is anything but.
I love him. And I love this series.
MOONLIGHT SCANDALS by Jennifer L. Armentrout is book Three in the de Vincent Series. This is the story of Rosie Herpin and Devlin de Vincent. I have read the previous books and loved them. I do feel that those books added to the enjoyment of this one. Rosie is a widower who is interested in haunted and the paranormal. One of the things she is interested in is the de Vincent house. Devlin has always protected his family even to harsh degrees so he is in protective mode when Rosie enters the picture. But sparks are flying between the two clouding their once set goal now they may have a new goal in each other.
This has been such a great series! I love Ms. Armentrout’s writing and hope to read more books by her in the future.
For me, this was the best book in the series and it was the one I was least interested in reading. I really didn’t like Devlin in the first two books but now, he just might be my favorite de Vincent brother! I didn’t think I could love a de Vincent more than Lucian but Devlin May have just changed that! This was the perfect end to the series!
Man, oh, man! I can’t believe it’s over! What a crazy, thrilling and exciting ride. Finally, finally, finally we have Devlin’s book and let me tell you, his book was so worth the wait.
Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve had a million and one questions ever since I started the De Vincent Series. And just when I think I know what is going on; that I’ve figured out all the clues, my world gets turned upside down. This book had so much mystery, so many twists and turns. I didn’t know what was wrong or what was right. But, I do know I couldn’t put this book down. I was absolutely hooked and couldn’t wait to see just how this story was going to unravel itself.
Finally, finally, we get to see inside Devlin’s head, to finally understand him, what makes him tick and his motives. It was everything that I was waiting for. There is so much more and I mean so much more to him than meets the eye. Each one of his actions is fueled by reason that only Devlin knows. Devlin is such a complex character. Only he could make me hate him & want to throw my kindle and yet in the very next breath want to swoon & understand him. And who better than to try to make sense of this complicated man, but Rosie. I absolutely LOVED Rosie! She was tough and completely unafraid of Devlin. She spoke her mind and gave Devlin a run for his money. Together these two were explosive. They had amazing tension and I loved their banter. I loved watching the two of them fight and bicker. I never knew what they were going to say next and they certainly kept me on my toes. But, I loved, loved, loved watching these two together and seeing them try to overcome all the obstacles life threw their way.
Overall, I really enjoyed Moonlight Scandals. The scandals and twists were totally delicious and kept my eyes glued to the pages. I enjoyed catching up with the De Vincent family and finally getting to see what makes Devlin tick. For me, this book was a fun puzzle to solve and I enjoyed every moment. From outstanding characters to an exciting plot. To writing that sucks you in and keeps you on your toes. To the magic that only New Orleans can bring. To paranormal research and an unlikely paring. To an unexpected romance that knocks you off your feet and keeps you begging for more. Take all of that, add in some crazy and I mean crazy twists, and you got yourself one satisfying ending to a series that filled you with question after question…..
Holy llama drama! This book was AMAZEBALLS! Jenn blew this one out of the park. The first 2 books in the series were really good, but this one has been my absolute favorite of the 3! It started right off being interesting and piquing my curiosity. It was an intense, mysterious, sexy, heart-pounding, teeth grinding, high anticipation, mind-blowing read! I could not put it down, except to sleep and do my job.
I’ve always loved Rosie’s character, but this one she thoroughly impressed me with her compassion, kindness, wit, strength, courage, and feistiness! I loved how she would stand her ground and not be a doormat while Dev spoke to her, and how she pushed his buttons when nobody else would dare do so.
Dev has always been a mystery from the beginning of the series. We really get to see why he is the way he is. I admire the fact that he did everything for his family. He was protective, intriguing, intense, misunderstood, and broken (from the more we learned about him). I loved seeing him change, become a bit…softer, yet no less intimidating, while spending time with Rosie. I liked that she helped him let his guard down, even if only for a little bit. And what we learn of his past? OMG!
The chemistry between Rosie and Dev was off the charts HOT! Whether they were arguing with one another or actually being friendly with each other, you could feel the chemistry and anticipation build! And when it exploded, whooo boy did it ever explode!
We learn answers to questions from the previous books, learned new information that blew my mind, and all the plot twists were INSANE…but oh so good!!!! All in all, this was my fave in the series and I would highly recommend this book (and the rest in the series)! It can be read as a standalone, but if you’re like me and need to read series from the beginning, nab the first 2 books and devour them before jumping in to this story so you get the full effect of JLA’s writing!
Thank you Jenn for this ARC. This is my honest review
Definitely worth the wait – very scandalous and such a page-turner. The best in this series by the fabulous JLA. She never disappoints, but this book was a mix of everything, so well balanced and with so many twists and turns you may find yourself constantly screaming WTF and OMG at your wall. I knew this was going to be the cherry on the cake with this series, but I didn’t see half of the things coming – not at all. And now I just want to go back and reread everything knowing some of the scandals that would follow.
I wasn’t sure what to think of Devlin, having in mind all his appearances in the previous stories, but the man absolutely surprised me.
He was the typical bad boy, alpha hero, super overprotective of his loved ones and had this tough exterior, but inside he had a huge heart. Just my type of a male hero. Confident, sexy and a bit arrogant, but also caring and attentive. He also happened to have such a dirty mouth.
And he exuded authority every time he spoke. I was even a bit intimidated by him at the beginning.
But then little by little, we got to know him and he got under my skin. He has gone through a lot and his story was really an intriguing one to unravel.
Rosie was such a perfect match for him in so many ways. She looked like his total opposite and maybe in a way she was. But what I loved about her was the way she challenged him, that she didn’t put up with his shit and she stood up to him. She was such a strong female lead. Went through a lot as well, but she wasn’t intimidated by Devlin and openly put him on his place.
I had so much fun with their banter and interactions. They were like fire and fuel. Tried to fight their attraction, but the imminent explosion of passion and feelings was inevitable. A combustible combination and the heat was off the charts hot.
But the steamy scenes were combined with a really great romance and there were some parts that made me sigh and swoon. Something shifted between them once they opened up to each other and I liked this change in both of them. They really got stronger together and took out the best in each other.
The suspense and paranormal elements in this one were so strong, I was constantly looking over my shoulder at night. It was creepier than the other two IMO. There were so many surprises along the way with this book that you should be prepared for the constant jaw-dropping at the final 20% or so. So many twists and turns, so much action that you won’t be able to stop reading before you finish. Definitely, a great ending for the series, although I’m secretly hoping to see more of this world sometime soon. The de Vincent family was not your typical family, but they were а close-knit family and loved fiercely. Those 3 were some of Jen’s best BBFs, so be sure to check them out and enjoy the weirdness and secrets surrounding the de Vincent brothers.
You know I was waiting for this one. Third and last in this trilogy, I have been WAITING for Dev’s story. I knew his was going to deliver a huge sucker punch, because Ms. Armentrout is crafty af like that – and I wasn’t wrong.
And now… I’m sad. I’m in complete denial that the trilogy is over. I love these brothers and the women that they fall for and their history and even their creepy house.
Holy. Baby. Llamas.
Rosie is just everything. I want to be her best friend. Her sass and sweetness and quirk are just the best! We all (I’m pretty sure) knew that under the 16 layers of jerk that Devlin had a heart, and dang if this story didn’t prove it and then some.
The twists, the things that go bump, the snark, the tying up of loose ends while fraying the whole f*&king rope… it’s classic JLA and everything I love about the way she tells a story.
Swoony dudes, feisty ladies, intrigue, drama, curses, ghosts, things that make you say, WTF… READ IT.
Just read it. But start at the beginning of the trilogy. You really want the whole story!
