From Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark, a thriller “that grabs you with the first paragraph and never lets go” (USA TODAY) about a woman desperate to uncover the truth behind her beloved stepmother’s death. At a party in Manhattan, Maggie Holloway–one of the fashion world’s most successful photographers–is thrilled to be reunited with her beloved stepmother. A widow now, Nuala Moore is … now, Nuala Moore is equally delighted to see her long-lost stepdaughter, and she invites Maggie to spend a few weeks at her home in Newport, Rhode Island. But when Maggie arrives, she finds Nuala murdered, apparently by a burglar.
Heartbroken, Maggie is stunned to learn she had inherited Nuala’s stunning Victorian home…and horrified when she begins to suspect that Nuala’s death was not random, but part of a diabolical plot conceived by a twisted mind. When Nuala’s dear old friend, Greta Shipley, dies suddenly of supposedly natural causes, Maggie is convinced that there is a link between these two and other recent deaths among the older women of Newport. What she doesn’t realize is that she has now become a target for the killer as well, and that each clue she uncovers brings her closer to an unimaginable fate.

If you like classic tales of who done it. You will not be disappointed.
Mary Higgins Clark never fails to deliver a good read.
A great book for a rainy afternoon.
Like all MHC books!
As ever, the author writes beautifully – her style is distinctive – short chapters which keep the reader wondering where reality really lies. Don’t miss her books.
Loved this!!!!
As usual, Mary Higgins Clark has produced another page-turner. After reading the prologue, I couldn’t put it down. The plot was well-done, in that characters turned out to be more than they seemed at first. The reader doesn’t know who to trust.
I appreciated the research MHC did on financial traps the elderly can fall into.
Like Clark’s mysteries.
Always good books. I have read every book she has written.
The books ending with no ill effects for the heroine, who was buried alive, was totally unrealistic.
Mary Higgins Clark is the queen of suspense and she keeps it going with this book. I couldn’t put it down.
Read lots by this author. Each time I tell myself “no more”. This time I think I mean it. Her books are becoming dumber and dumber.
Always a winner with this author!
I think I have read all of Mary Higgins Clark books. I have always enjoyed them.
Love Mary Higgins Clark!
