Aimee Easterling is an excellent paranormal romance author and “Moon Stalked” is one of her best books. The action is fast-paced, but given depth with a tragic back story. The idea of the woelfin and potential conflict with werewolves – awesome. The family conflict has me intrigued. This first book has me hooked.
The “Moon-Crossed Trilogy” by Aimee Easterling offers one of most original takes in shifter stories by presenting a FMC, who – as a woelfin – needs her pelt to be able to shift, just as in the way a selkie would.
In “Moon Stalked”, the start to the series, Honor’s cousin pelt has been stolen. As Honor is not totally blameless, and to save her cousin from a shiftless life, Honor decides to “retrieve” the pelt with the help of a werewolf (Hunter). As werewolves are known to steal woefins pelts, that is perhaps not the brightest idea, but the blamed can be choosers . Honor tendency to shift back fully naked at the most inopportune situations may not help the quest, but surely endears her in the readers eyes, for her own clumsiness.
The story develops with plots and unexpected twists page after page, that take the reader in a rollercoaster of feelings, showing the very relatable struggles of both characters in pursuit of their own flavour of happiness. A very unique take on the shifter myth, with a lovely and somehow naïve MC that has the tendency end out in the strangest situations.
The superior writing and very special attention to detail that are trademark of Mr. Easterling works, creates a very good rounded, entertaining almost bordering on whimsical at times, action-paced and fully satisfying story.
A different sort of werewolf story. Honor lives in the moment while at the same time she pursues her one goal of redemption.
Good
Wolves, some werewolves, some needing wolfsfells to shift. The wolves needing wolfsfells would die without them. One such wolfsfell was stolen and the wolf was dying. Trying to find the location of the wolfsfell turned out to be very difficult, people were getting killed. Good characters, good storyline.
Aimee Easterling is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. I loved it. I found the story and characters well written and enjoyable. I’m Always looking forward to reading books by Aimee Easterling and I highly recommend reading her books. (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
This book was a refreshing and unique twist on the normal shifter story. Don’t worry, you get to see a regular werewolf too, but this book is all about the woelfin. What makes them different is that in order to change into their wolf they must use a pelt and wrap it around themselves in order to change. And when they are in their human form they don’t have access to all the extra traits/abilities that their wolves have. Honor’s pack is made of her twin sister Grace, her, and their twin cousins Bastion and Justice. When Bastion’s stolen pelt is used, it begins to steal his lifeforce. Their only hope is to recover it in time to save his life. Honor’s everyday job as a bounty hunter makes her capable of this mission, but it will take her whole pack working together to pull off this task. To further complicate matters, there’s a human bounty hunter that gets pulled into the mess and the mysterious werewolf Luke who keeps popping up until they decide to team up. Lots of action and plenty of mystery in this story as they race against the clock to figure out who has Bastion’s pelt and recover it before it’s too late. Plus you have the budding romance between the unlikely allies of Honor and Luke making for an all together great story. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters!
Yaay!, a fave author, Aimee Easterling, is our with the first book in a new series! Yaay (!), that book, Moon Stalked (Woelfin Awakening, Book 1), is up to her usual standards (that’s a code phrase meaning “fantastically superb”. Yaay (!!), this was a tremendously fun book, with a great plot that’s full of the promised action and adventure (and a “healthy helping of romance”), a perfect cast from Honor and Luke on down and perfect world-building. Definitely (and highly) recommended.
This is a supernatural suspense story with a bit of romance. It’s also a unique take on the shifter genre. The climax gets too grisly for me and the end wasn’t as satisfying as I had hoped. It is a page-turner and unpredictable. Most of your questions will be answered, but this is the first book in a new series, so there’s more to come. I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
ONE REFRESHING EXPERIENCE!!!
Crap on toast! Aimee waxed the base, strung the link and lined the bow weaving a web so intricately and tight until everything else ceases to exist. She absolutely nailed all of the emotions swirling through this bad boy running rampant unchecked that leaves you reeling and wanting more. A unique spin showcasing this baby with such refreshing realism, catapulting this jewel to life effortlessly. Pushing forward with such perfection escalating this baby to staggering heights with it’s intensely compelling storyline and intertwined plot. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that make it easy to relate. The personalities are well matched and blended together smoothly. The scenes are so graphically detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that feels as though you’re right there with them. Fantastic job Aimee, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Honor was being draining by guilt. Mistakes had not been forgiven and with her cousin’s life at stake, she had a long race to make wrongs right. Like these young wolves with intriguing situations trying to survive every day. With a wolfsfell still missing, a killer on the loose, a mystery to solve and partners in crime with their own issues, I was eager to know what was really happening. What was happening to Clarence? And Bastion, would he have enough time and Honor sleuthing while trying to keep the secrecy of her kind, would she fare fine? Distrust, guilt, fear and a strong sense that something was not what it seemed. This well written and interesting story kept me on suspense with the mystery. Read Thirteenth Werewolf and it was good to find Luke’s character along Honor.
Moon Stalked is Aimee Easterling’s 1st book in her next series Moon-Crossed Wolves. True to style, Ms. Easterling gives us yet another unique perspecive into the lore of the wolf, this time with woelfin and skinless wolves. I truly enjoyed how she merged these two factions, all the while juggling murder and mayhem in the human world. The storyline was fast-paced and well written, filled with danger, mystery and intrigue. The characters were well developed and engaging. I was paricularily drawn to Honor, who didn’t feel deserving of her name but who strived to live up to it anyway. I can’t wait to see what adventures await her in book 2!
