THE FIRST MERCY THOMPSON NOVEL!Moon Called is the novel that introduced Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson to the world and launched a #1 bestselling phenomenon… Mercy Thompson is a shapeshifter, and while she was raised by werewolves, she can never be one of them, especially after the pack ran her off for having a forbidden love affair. So she’s turned her talent for fixing cars into a business … talent for fixing cars into a business and now runs a one-woman mechanic shop in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State.
But Mercy’s two worlds are colliding. A half-starved teenage boy arrives at her shop looking for work, only to reveal that he’s a newly changed werewolf—on the run and desperately trying to control his animal instincts. Mercy asks her neighbor Adam Hauptman, the Alpha of the local werewolf pack, for assistance.
But Mercy’s act of kindness has unexpected consequences that leave her no choice but to seek help from those she once considered family—the werewolves who abandoned her…

I’ve had this book for quite sometime but I am just now getting around to reading it. AND…. OhEmGee!!! I could kick myself for not starting sooner. Mercy is awesome! A shifter coyote living among wolves is what attracted me to the series but it’s Mercy herself that is going to keep me coming back for more. She strong, smart and flawed, just how I love my kick-ass characters. This story is loaded with interesting characters and the world-building is outstanding. I think I have found my new addiction.
This was the first Mercy Thompson book. From the first line it drew me in. I have enjoyed this series, and its sister series “Alpha & Omega” and have rarely been disappointed.
This is a modern fantasy series, meaning fantastic elements in a modern setting. Initially the world is very similar to ours, but as one continues to read, ther are obvious divergences. Elements include werewolves, vampires, fae, magic, and witches.
One of the good things about this series is the book ends the story. In other words, there is no loose end forcing you to go to the next book. This is something that is much to rare, in my opinion, in most modern series. Further books aren’t required, but if you wish to see the ongoing development of the characters, there is a continuation. In my case, I did, and I have almost every book in this series.
I strongly recommend this series as an interesting read.
Moon Called is the first book in the Mercy Thompson series and this was just a great way to start off a new series. I just loved getting to enter this new world and meet these new characters. I just fell in love with Mercy Thompson and her friends. I can’t wait to see what’s next with this series.
First book of this series, love them all. Great paranormal romance/suspense.
I love the Mercy Thompson books she is one of my favorite characters ever!! I’ve read every book in the series
As soon as I began reading this book I knew I was all in. I’m rather late to this series but that doesn’t make it any less fun or addictive. Mercy is a walker – a coyote. And the last thing she needs is to get involved with a werewolf pack. But as with everything Mercy, werewolves are the least of her problems. Strap in and be ready to dive into the whole series. This one is a pure fanatastical ride.
Love this series!
It’s been years since I read this book. With a new entry in the series on the shelf, I felt that it was an excellent time to start re-reading the series. This book starts the series out with a howl and introduces a great protagonist.

I have read the entire series and can highly recommend each book in the series. The writer knows what she is doing and keeps the reader wanting more.
Great series, great world, great book!
I love Mercy and I love this series!
A favorite author with great sequels.
I’ve had this in my to read pile for a long time, which just pi**es me off because I do that all the time have something in my pile for years then read it then love it then I kick my self for days because I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me what a great start to a new series I can hardly wait to see what happens to Mercedes and all her friends.
One of my absolute favorite authors! Patricia Briggs has the unique ability to create a book full of wonderful characters we love to love and we love to hate. Mercy ‘Mercedes’ Thompson is a witty coyote shapeshifter and a mechanic. Could there be a more perfect combination? Throw her into a chaotic world filled with supernatural beings that threaten her safety, her sanity, and her city, and perfection is found. I’m fairly certain I cried at the end of the book, mostly because I wasn’t ready for it to be over. Luckily, Patricia did not disappoint with the many sequels that followed. I am a life-long fan!
I love the series by Patricia. Each book tells a different story which is closed. There is mystery, fun, a little exceptional woman who can deal with any “monster” by her on way.
I read the book translated into my language and I loved it.
The whole series was great…but couldn’t give a HEA because the saga continues!
Good read.
I typically read military science fiction so I was a bit surprised to be this drawn in by a fantasy series. Absolutely excellent read, I’ve already read the first three books in the series. Very fast paced, really enjoyed the characters.
Love, love, Love Patricia Briggs
