Don’t miss this series. I had to give it a four star, because I don’t like cliff hangers. Actually isn’t one; it concludes, but I NEED to know what happens next. It is just like the first in the series. The plot is very creative. Characters are real. As I have said before, a ghost in a story usually scares me, but in this series, the ghosts are unusual and while mean at times, they are just short of hilarious. In fact parts of the book are quite funny, especially how Moody interacts with her mother. It was a quick and very interesting read. One will enjoy this lighthearted book.
Bryndle has psychic abilities or had until a tragic accident that killed her husband and took away her abilities, so she’s been faking it to all her viewers on YouTube praying it comes back soon and on top of that all of a sudden, a man, Bane Jackson is now out to prove she’s a fake and a phony and wants to destroy her.. and he has his reasons why… when Bryn is in the presence of the Handsome Spanish sea captains ghost, Caspian Cortez she can see… and while in his presence she sees this rude Bane Jackson and is left speechless at what she sees… and now Spanish Ghost Caspian Cortez has his own little secret he needs to tell her… things are really getting heated up good and bad in the second book of Moody’s Ghost…. once I started reading I did not want to put it down but even more I was disappointed when it ended, I couldn’t believe I read it straight through, it’s that good but you’ve got to read the first book to see how they get to where they are in this one… this is becoming one of my all time favorite series… I can’t wait for the next one, it can’t come soon enough… Author Kim Hornsby is a very talented writer… all of her books leave you on the edge of your seat and wanting more… demanding more…… Needing more….
OH MY GOODNESS! It takes a day to read them I feel we wait forever for the next book. Very good story. Moved great. Love Moody and her crew. So sad to see her struggle with things beyond her control. I can’t wait to see how the next book goes
Book two picks up with Bryndle Moody telling her ghost guide, Caspian Cortez that they are leaving for a few days. Bryn and her team members, Eve and Carlos are heading to a job at the Eatery Restaurant to confront a ghost that the owner was having issues with. Bryn hopes that Caspian can meet her at the job. Also, Hodor was being excused early from the Guide Dog School, so he gets to come home.
Eve, Bryndle’s cousin, informs Bryn that Bane Jackson, a skeptical paranormal blogger who sets out to debunk psychics has set his sights on Bryn. He posted footage of the three of them walking outside the home that Bryn has inherited. Bryn is hiding the fact that the accident that took her husband’s life has left her blind.
They are able to make a connection with Mary, the ghost at the Eatery Restaurant, who has a very detailed message to give to Jim, the owner. Although, it’s been filmed, Moody Investigations may not be able to use the footage, if what Mary has revealed is true.
Against Bryn’s better judgment, she agrees to bring her mother, Rachel, back with her to Cove House, but as they arrive at the home, Rachel, gets very agitated informing Bryn, that they’ve been to the house before. Rachel believes that a ghost killed an Alive in the house. When Bryn refuses to leave, her mother decides to stick to Bryn, including sharing her bedroom.
It is both Rachel and Bryn who are surprised to learn, that not only is Caspian still haunting Cove House, but he can be seen and heard by Rachel. Problem is, the impression given is that Rachel and Caspian are very familiar with one another. The two, also; have a secret that neither will divulge to Bryn. Bryn, also, hides the fact from Rachel, whenever Caspian is in the same room with her that she can see.
In trying to find a way to get Bane Jackson off their back, Rachel does the unthinkable! While out with Eve, they bump into Bane, and Rachel invites him for dinner. Bryn has a dilemma on her hands, how will she act like a sighted person in front of Bane, but maintain she is blind to her mother?
There was so many laugh out loud parts! I love the banter between Rachel and Bryn, they have an interesting relationship. There’s a nice twist at the end where I can’t wait to start the third book! If you enjoy the paranormal genre, you’ll want to read this series!!
It is very rare that I rate any book with 5 stars. I enjoyed the first book in the series so much that I just had to get the rest. This is the second book in the series. I was immediately drawn into the story. I don’t know how to describe the writing, I just want to say it was so smooth that it drew me in and kept me captivated until the end of the book. I love the characters, the plot, the special twists and turns that the story takes. With these two books, I have become a huge fan of the author. I highly recommend this book.
Moody & the Ghost – Batten Down by Kim Hornsby is part of a series you don’t want to miss. It was fast paced and kept me turning the pages trying to find out what happens next. .
