I really enjoy reading Melinda Curtis books because they give you the clean sweet stories that we all need at some point. A bride not showing for her wedding, learning her true identity and running off to Montana with a cowboy she is learning to know. Everyone should grab a copy today and enjoy this fun read.
A delightful Blackwell family reunion! With the first book in The Blackwell Sisters spin-off series Melinda Curtis brings all the feels in MONTANA WELCOME. It’s a joy to see Big E and his grandsons enjoying their lives even as he steps in to stir up a little trouble again when he discovers a son and five granddaughters he knew nothing about. The characters are fun and sincere, the plot is thick with tension and drama and the sweet love connection between Lily and her cowboy is all it takes to steal a reader’s heart. I can’t wait for book two!
Lily Harrison is the sweetest. We can’t help but sympathize with her feeling of losing control of her own life, and as she grows closer to Conner and begins to see that she can control her outcome, it’s so rewarding.
Conner Hannah is such a goodhearted guy. I loved every minute of getting to know him and his feisty mama was an added bonus!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance with a down home feel to it as the characters fall under each other’s spell. If you read the original Blackwell series, you will delight in seeing how the grandsons are all doing in their happily ever afters.
Fantastic kickoff to a new series!
Lily Harrison is a runaway bride. Just in the nick of time her, until now, unknown grandfather Elias “Big E” Blackwell sweeps into the church shortly before her wedding ceremony and gives Lily an escape route. Lily recently discovered that Rudy Harrison isn’t actually her birth father. The name on her birth certificate is Thomas Blackwell. Lily was to marry her lifelong friend Danny who was the daredevil who always got her in trouble. It was Danny who had the crazy idea when Lily was just turning eight-years-old to fly their cardboard box “rocket ship” off the roof of the shed in the Harrison yard. Obviously that didn’t go well and it was Lily who suffered the consequences and is living with impaired fine motor skills due to a head injury. At the church Lily heard Danny say that he didn’t want to marry Lily but Lily’s stepfather insisted. Lily’s second thoughts flashed and her cold feet went frozen when she overheard their conversation. That was why she agreed to run off in Big E’s travel trailer on her way to the Blackwell Ranch in Falcon Crest, Montana with cowboy Conner Hannah. Together they rode off into the sunset, so to speak. And that’s how Lily met Conner and their relationship began.
Conner Hannah is a cowboy who works on the Blackwell Ranch. He has his own ranch, the Rocking H, but has let it start to fall into disrepair after the accident he had training a wild Mustang horse. Conner couldn’t afford to do such dangerous training since he was his disabled mother’s sole support. Meeting Lily was like a burst of sunshine for Conner. He knew he shouldn’t be attracted to her since he worked for Big E and his job at that time was to escort Lily to Blackwell Ranch. The heart has a way of turning off a person’s good sense sometimes and his wanted to claim Lily.
Montana Welcome by Melinda Curtis is the first book in Harlequin’s Blackwell Sisters series. I love Melinda Curtis’ writing style. She always has a heartwarming storyline, characters who are realistic and makes the story very entertaining to read. Ms. Curtis outlines the conflict and drives the story to an emotionally satisfying solution. This is a story that had me smiling to the very end.
Next up in the series is one of Lily’s triplet sisters, Amanda’s story in Montana Wishes by Amy Vastine.
This clean contemporary romance begins the story of wealth Elias Blackwell who has discovered he has five granddaughters and wants to connect with them.
Lily Harrison is one of the girls , and the one who discovered her real father was not the one who raised her.
But her problems are bigger than that, when she leaves the groom before the wedding after a conversation between her “dad” and the groom was overheard.
To her rescue comes cowboy Conner Hannah.
These Conner and Lily have had to overcome obstacles. Both due to accidents that changed the course of their lives. These two former risk takers either need help from others or in the case of Conner, has someone he loves dearly who is dependent on him.
When half truths are revealed and family intervenes, will they be able to find their HEA or will the past continue to dictate their present and their future?
It was a sweet and touching beginning to a series that will be written by various talented authors.
I am looking forward to the next story in it.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Runaway Bride.
Lily has been having doubts about her wedding and when she overhears her bridegroom saying they are rushing things, on top of finding out her father is not who she thought he was and the opportunity to run presents itself, she takes it. She finds herself on a road trip with a hot cowboy and a wedding party! Loved this story and people doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. Hope Danny gets his HEA.
Note: such a relief to read a book with no typos!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Delightfully sweet insta-love and an intriguing series starter!
In this first book of the series, we’re introduced to all five of the Harrison girls as one of the middle girls is supposed to be getting married. Lily has lots of doubts about her marriage and more about her family, so she’s already decided to call of the wedding when her long-lost cowboy grandfather shows up with a handsome young cowboy at his side.
Conner is tasked with whisking Lily away to the Blackwell Ranch in Montana to give her some time and distance to sort out all the new information while her grandfather explains his new role in the family to her siblings and stepfather.
From here we have a hilarious road trip followed by a heartwarming introduction to the extensive Blackwell family. Throughout it all, the chemistry between Lily and Conner is undeniable and it was absolutely beautiful to watch these two overcome their own insecurities to find their forever together.
The writing was sparkling and quirky, and kept the story moving along quite nicely. There were more than a few moments of brilliant humor, but it never overshadowed the depth of emotions that drove the story forward.
I really loved both Conner and Lily’s characters. He’s charming but not at all cocky, and she’s just daring enough but ready to put her reckless years behind her. I loved the relationship he has with his mom and with the entire Blackwell family. I appreciated the way their partnership brought out the best in both Lily and Conner.
As the first in the series, this book definitely hooks you and leaves you wanting to read the rest of the stories for the other sisters, too. Conner and Lily do get a wonderfully satisfying HEA, while the mystery surrounding their parents continues to develop throughout the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A runaway bride, a road trip, some family secrets and a lot of fun. Lily was always labeled as the dare devil in the family. If there was a risk to take, Lily was all for it. No one noticed that things have changed. The man who has been her partner in crime since they were kids is the man she should marry, right? She finds out that he is having doubts and so is she. She can’t let the wedding happen. But how to tell her protective family? Then a man appears to say that he is her grandfather. What? She has just gotten her birth certificate and it doesn’t say her dad is the man who raised her. Her grandfather offers her a way out and she grabs it. Conner is her driver and he doesn’t want her to think that he is kidnapping her, but he needs her to go back to Montana with him so he will get a much needed bonus. Is he just manipulating her just like her family does? He doesn’t think he is good enough for her, but he really wants her to stay. What will they do?
The first book in the continuing saga of the Blackwells. Big E has discovered he has more grandchildren and they are all female. The first thing he does is rescue Lily from a marriage she just realizes she doent want to go through with and apparently neither does the groom to be.This is a great beginning to a second series by a fantastic group of authors. If you haven’t read the first series about the Blackwell brothers start there and then read this one.
“Montana Welcome” by Melinda Curtis is book 1 of a 5-book multi-author miniseries, The Blackwell Sisters.
It’s not cold feet that has bride Lily Harrison leaving her groom behind and hopping in an RV for a trip to Montana—she’s searching for her identity after she finds out she’s Elias Blackwell’s granddaughter.
Cowboy Conner Hannah, who works for Big E, has been tasked to make sure Lily arrives at the Blackwell Ranch safely. The money he’ll earn will help with his family’s ranch since he gave up horse training after an accident.
He doesn’t count on his interest in Lily, nor does she expect her interest in him.
You won’t want to miss this touching and laugh-out-loud story by Ms. Curtis.
I received an advanced copy for an honest review.
This book was a fun book to read. The characters came to life like you were watching a movie. Read about the shenigans that happen when a runaway bride is offered an escort with a cowboy chafuer who is struggling to keep his ranch.
This is a Blackwell story so watch out for Big E. See if he is meddling or muddling up these young ones.
Are there horses? You betcha! Are there adventures? Yep. Will you want to put it down? No, no you won’t, so either be disciplined or wait until you don’t have to go to work the next day to read it.
I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed the captivating beginning. I enjoyed the satisfying ending and I enjoyed the entertaining parts in between.
I was happy to see another Blackwell series as I loved the others that I had read before. The authors of the Return of the Blackwell Brothers have joined forces again for this new and captivating series. And this was the start of what appears to be another wonderful, clean and fun series.
This story line of a run-away bride was very fun, enjoyable and kept me reading throughout the pages. The book’s start was full of engaging writing. You will be in for a fun “ride” with Conner and Lily! I really felt that this was a wonderful start to the new series and can’t wait to read what is coming in the near future. I loved the conflict when the expected groom comes to claim what he feels is his.
I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own.
It was really exciting to return to visit the Blackwell family – only this time, it is for “missing” sisters! Yes, the book is a standalone; I just loved the previous series about the Blackwells. Montana Welcome is about Lily Harrison (aka Blackwell but she doesn’t know about this quite yet) and let me just say that the beginning of her story? It’s a doozy! It’s not like she’s a runaway bride, exactly. It’s more like…well, you’ll have to read it for yourself! It is crazy and fun and twisty and curvy. Most of all, though, it has lots of heart and soul-searching.
Big E (you’ll read about him in the very beginning of this story) has a cowboy that is driving him around the country actually take Lily back to the Blackwell ranch, along with a bride to be (Blackwell cousin) and a friend. Conner Hannah is a troubled soul but so very kind and sweet and…aw, shucks. He’s a good guy that has what he thinks are insurmountable odds against him ever being good enough for Lily. And I think he’s exactly what Lily needs…
The Family members in the story are characters and some are like those relatives you hope never show up for an event. But it was fun to read about the extended relatives and how much more mayhem they can add to the pile.
Great story! And I’m curious to read about the next sisters in the series.
So fantastic to be back with the Blackwell family again! Even if you didn’t read the first series of the Blackwell family, you can certainly read this book and get caught up! The author puts enough in this book for the new reader to understand what’s going on!
Imagine it’s your wedding day and you feel something is “off”. You are not madly in love with your intended groom for one thing and then you overhear your groom telling your father that he’s not really in love with you! Oops! Red Flag Warning!!!! However, your groom has been your best friend forever and you aren’t sure what to do! Well, an older man and a quite handsome cowboy (Connor) enter the room where you are and tell you that you need to “go with them” and they’ll take care of everything! Would you do it? Lily does it! Crazy, I know, but Lily just found out that her “father” wasn’t really her biological father and she wants to meet her new family so off she goes in search of them! Connor and Lily have quite the adventure in a wacko motor home on their way to Montana and they pick up a cousin along the way too. I adored Connor right away. This story was funny, sweet, tender and had all the right emotions for a wonderful story! Can’t wait for the next book already!
Lily is about to walk down the aisle and marry her best friend. Things have not been going right for her lately and she just found out that her father wasn’t really her father on her birth certificate. She also hears her groom state right before they were to get married that he doesn’t have to be married to her to take care of her.
She leaves the church with Conner a cowboy who works for him, and takes off for adventures in her Grandfathers motor home. They are picking up a bride and doing some preliminary bridal work before her cousins wedding.
S really good book that will tug at your heart strings and make you laugh as well.
I read this book in exchange for an honest review. I don’t think that I have ever read any stories by Melinda Curtis before. This will change going forward. I LOVED this book. Lily, the heroine, had an accident in the past which caused her to have some trouble with her fine motor skills. This caused the people around her to over protect her. This is the story of her finding her way to your independence. Along the way, she meets Conner who has huge problems with self esteem. This fabulous book by a wonderful author!
Montana Welcome is a fantastic start to a new series. This is Lily’s story of finding independence and discovering her true identity. Lily has always been a daredevil and an adrenaline junkie but an accident as a child caused some lasting effects with her hands. Since then, everyone has always tried to protect her and decide what she should do with her life. On her wedding day, Lily is dealing with the fact that she is not really a Harrison (per her birth certificate) and her soon-to-be husband doesn’t want to marry her as over heard in the church vestibule. While struggling with these revelations, in walks her “grandfather” offering her an escape and the chance to meet her family. So begins the road trip adventure with a handsome cowboy, Connor Hannah, who sparks feelings unfamiliar to Lily. The story that follows is a sweet love story filled with laughs, tears, some anger and a whole lot of crazy characters and animals to make this a fun story that you won’t want to put down.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
