He’s falling for his brother’s ex—as if he needs another reason to go.Nate Wilde is ready to leave Birch Bay. He’s been home too long as it is and extending his visit means risking fantasies of staying for good. Wants and desires never work out for him, though. With good comes bad, and he’s had enough bad to last a lifetime. Unfortunately, his siblings need him. The family orchard is on the brink … orchard is on the brink of collapse, and they’re relying on him to help. Only . . . what can he possibly do to save an orchard that’s lost most of its trees?
Megan Manning, ex-girlfriend to Nate’s youngest brother and manager of the Wilde family’s cherry-themed gift store, intends to settle permanently in her newly adopted town. Her own family has always cared more about traveling the world than creating a place to call home, so she’s going to make that for herself. Her list for happiness is simple. A rewarding job, good friends, and finding someone to love. She doesn’t want the kind of love she grew up with, however. She wants someone willing to stick.
As Nate works to save the orchard, Megan pitches in to help. After all, no cherry farm equals no need for a cherry-themed gift store. But when constant contact has their chemistry spiking, Megan discovers there’s more than the family business worth fighting for. Only, will Nate be able to handle falling for his brother’s ex? Or will he walk . . . exactly as her family always has?

Montana Promises is book five in the Wildes of Birch Bay series. I really felt for Nate. His guilt has been eating him alive for a very long time, and he will never be truly happy until he’s set free from it. Nate finds himself drawn to Megan, but she used to be engaged to Nate’s brother, so how could he ever be more than a friend to her? Their story was engaging, and I loved them together. I am really looking forward to the next story in this series. I highly recommend this book.
Another amazing read and great addition to the series!! It’s beautifully written. The characters continue to capture your heart from the beginning of the series to this story. It will take you through emotional journey as it pulls your heartstrings. I loved the banter and sparks. The journey they take as they overcome obstacles and insecurities. Definitely want to read each book. Looking forward to reading more.
Nate has always been the loner of the family. Barely home and when he did come home his stay was always brief. Because of his past he felt his being there brought trouble. So he never stayed in one place long. Traveling all over moving from one seasonal job to the next. So when he stuck around while after his dad was injuries it was the longest he had been back since he was 18 and fled.
Megan had been part of the family since she had dated Jaren, even though they broke up and now is engaged with someone else. So when feeling started growing between her and Nate, Nate fought them as that was his brothers ex. It was a no-go . But their feelings weren’t fissling, they were growing and it was getting harder to fight it by being around each other. What will happen if they explore their feeling?
Megan is looking for a fiancee. Nate is attracted to her but she’s his brother’s ex-girlfriend. He also believes he’s the family screw-up and doesn’t deserve anything good in his life. Everyone who has ever meant anything to her has left without a backward glance and he is planning to leave as soon as he finishes his latest project. Even so, somehow love wins out. This is a wonderful story about how true love can forgive anything. I received an advanced reader copy from the author for my reading enjoyment.
I loved reading Nate and Megan’s story in Montana Promises by Kim Law, book five in the Wildes of Birch Bay series. This book will truly pull you in and you will need a box of tissues nearby. Nate Wilde is a hard working loner who left home after turning eighteen. He has made it clear that although he will visit his family he has no intention to ever move back home. However, he didn’t plan on everything getting derailed by a small tornado named Megan Manning. The problem is that she should be off-limits since she used to be engaged to brother, Jared. Megan is quite intelligent, leaving her promising career in the technology field to move to Birch Bay and manage the Wilde family’s store. Not only is she the manager but she helped get it moved to downtown Birch Bay and redesigned their website. Even after she and Jared split, she remained friends with Jared and his family. I love how Nate and Megan start off as friends and simply slide into love. Megan and Nate have less than ideal family backgrounds and both have their own issues to work out with their families, which makes them all the more perfect for each other.
Ms. Law wrote an emotional love story that is truly not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and an endearing cast of characters giving Nate and Megan a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I highly recommend Montana Promise to other readers and am now just waiting to see how the last single Wilde standing will fall
This is a great book; this is the fifth book in the Wildes of Birch Bay series written by Kim Law. Nate Wilde is home to help save his family’s orchard. Megan Manning is the manager of the Wilde family’s cherry themed gift store and also Nate’s brothers ex girlfriend. While working together to save the orchard they soon realize that they are falling for each other and the chemistry is hot. It is an amazing story that will keep you reading until the very end. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book by this awesome author!
Oh, how I missed the Wilde family! Montana Promises was a fantastic fifth installment to the Wilde’s of Birch Bay series. This is Nate’s (one of the twins) love story with Megan, who is his little brother’s ex-girlfriend. I thought the ick factor of dating a sibling’s ex was going to be a turn-off, but Kim Law’s expert writing detailed the struggle Nate goes through as he tries to fight his growing feelings. Ms. Law has created a flawed hero in Nate, but we’ve seen him mature so much throughout the series, and she gives us a masterful twist in this book that gives the reader a deep understanding of his character. Megan is such a likable heroine; she doesn’t take crap from anyone, doesn’t apologize for going after what she wants, and gives herself permission to try new things and grow. Their slow burn of a love story gives up plenty of time to catch up with the other Wildes while the family rallies around the cause of saving their orchard. This is a couple you’ll root for the entire book, and Ms. Law teases plenty more family drama at the end as she sets up the sixth and final installment when Cord finally meets his love-match. This reader can’t wait to visit with the Wilde’s one last time!
I have been a huge fan of The Wildes of Birch Bay series & had been looking forward to Montana Promises. And it did not disappoint. Kim Law creates such an amazing read with unique characters & an emotional story.
I adored Nate & Megan’s story. Loved, loved, loved Montana Promises!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Book 5 in the Wildes of Birch Bay, Nate’s story. Nate is the Wilde that seldom comes home, he was the one his mom always blamed for everything and he feels he is the cause of everything bad that happens. When he does finally come home to help with the orchard and then his dad after he has an accident, he still feels out of place. So when he is drawn to Megan, his brother’s ex, he is determined to leave again as quickly as he can. But he’s the one that comes up with an impressive idea to save the family business and they all would really like for him to stick around. Megan is very drawn to Nate and is ready to move on from the breakup with his brother. She’s determined to find “her person” and sets about it in what Nate determines as an unusual way. Megan’s perfectly happy running the store, helping with her friend’s websites and finding her niche. What she’d really like is a relationship with her father. As much as Nate tries to stay away from Megan, he can’t and once they decide to secretly give a relationship a chance it seems like everything falls into place. But there are secrets to come out before a HEA can happen, it’s just whether they can heal from all the hurts of the past to get there. Ms. Law’s characters are so real you feel like you truly know them and that feeling carries through in this book as well. Although this is the 5th book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. However, you’ll want to go back then and read the ones that came before this one! I received an ARC from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I was happy to see Megan get her HEA. Nate is a good guy, but he has some old secrets that he thinks could destroy his family. So, he stays away. The family could lose everything they have, so he comes up with an idea of how to change things. Megan is on board to help with the changes. Things are changing between Nate and Megan, but Nate doesn’t think he deserves a happy ever after. Plus Megan is his brother’s old girlfriend. He has to come to terms with how he feels about Megan and he has to come clean with his family. He needs to set things right so he can move on.
This book continues with the story of the Wilde siblings of Birch Bay, Montana.
This time it’s the story of Nate WIlde and Megan Manning., newcomer and former fiance of his younger brother One is home for a short time to help the family and the other has made a new life in Birch Bay. While seemingly wanting different things, in reality both want to be loved for whom they are. Nate’s and Megan’s childhood was not always easy and it has molded them as adults.
As they start working together to help save the Wilde’s orchard, a friendship develops as well as feelings. But fears might hold them back.
It’s an engaging story about family dynamics, hope, fears, and love.
I have to confess I have not read all the stories in the series, and because of that, I felt at a disadvantage. It’s assumed we know the stories, background and relationships of all the siblings, when in fact I was clueless. Maybe giving a little background when the character appeared in the story, might have helped. For that it was more of a 3.5 story but sInce I respected the time and dedication authors spend in bringing us their stories, I have given it a 4 star rating.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
