A curious reporter. A charming gambler. Will they accept the love dealt them?As the newcomer in town, Jessamine McMahon is determined to forge her own path as a reputable reporter. In order to survive in the small town of Bear Grass Springs, she soon learns that she has to peddle local news and gossip as well as hard news. At turns fascinated and repelled by Ewan MacKinnon, Jessamine writes … writes frequent articles about him, calling him the town’s “most disreputable gentleman.”
Ewan MacKinnon lives a charmed life. A successful builder, he spends his evenings at the saloons or at other fine establishments in town. He has no interest in a wife. In love. Not again. However, Jessamine intrigues him with her fiery spirit and determination to prove herself capable in a world often merciless to independent women.
As she learns to read his poker face and he reads between the lines in her articles, they realize theirs is no usual courtship. Will they trust in their love or squander the opportunity given to them?

I enjoyed the entire series. Wonderful characters and stories.
I enjoyed the characters and the setting. The strong-willed female characters and their tolerant love interests were probably not realistic of their times, but the story lines kept my interest, and I read the whole series. I.m looking forward to the next book.
Interesting plot.
Great book! Really enjoyed it.
Enjoyed this western romance.
I love westerns.
This book was very interesting if I am reading it twice.
Another delightful story from Ramona Flightner. I enjoyed it just as much as the previous one in the series. Her characters are rich and engaging, so much so that I get angry at them, sad with them, and thrilled at their victories. This one follows the new reporter/printer in town as she tries to make a name for herself.
The series follows a Montana community in the 1800s. It’s full of colorful people of various backgrounds and tells the stories of the challenges they faced as they forged new lives in the west. It’s an enjoyable read with a happy ending, and a great setup for the next book in the series.
LETS HEAD WEST!!!
Ok guys are you ready? You know me well enough by now to know I love jumping in head first so lets keep the fun going. If you’re looking for excitement, you’ve got it. If you want drama, right again. There’s more drama than a sane person could handle. Good thing I’m not sane. If you’re that heart pounding, nailbiting, pulse racing type of person. Here ya go. Now let’s get to the nitty gritty of this smart, small town tale. I was hooked, fascinated from the start. The characters were intriguing and complex with some spice thrown in to add a little flavor if you get my drift. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that I felt I had been transported back in time to ground zero. It was mesmerizing following the characters along as their personalities transformed and began to show through. With twists, turns and unexpected surprises that kept me captivated and frozen to the edge of my seat. You get the feisty, down home, country individuals that keep you focused solely on the pages. What do you get when you throw two stubborn people together in a room and lock them in? Yeah, now you’re catching on. You have the full range of emotions with enough heat between the two main characters you can set the room on fire. Now we just need to butt their heads together to see whats right in front of them. I have to say that Ramona gave a whole new meaning to the phrase ” come alive before my eyes. She shows off her talents here spectacularly. I love the way she pulled this read together beautifully. Remarkable job Ramona, thank you so much for sharing this little jewel with us.
Frontier Montana Romance
This is the newest episode of the Bear Grass Springs series about frontier Montana. It is a stand- alone story that builds on the previous episodes. The plot is excellent and the historical aspects are correct. The characters a re depend and emotions are true. I will continue reading this series with joy. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to post my honest review. Spoiler alert: this is my favorite exchange from the book…He chuckled as he pulled her tight against his chest. “I’ll be happy to continue to prove ye wrong for the next fifty years.” “Only fifty?” she whispered as her smile spread. “I want forever.”
I enjoyed this book, but like many others, the “heroine” made unwise decisions. I do not like to see women who should be smart seem so dumb.
Not as good as other stories in this series. Did not feel a true connections with the characters as I have with other books in this line.
A little slow and hard to believe connection between the hero and heroine. Heroine was very harsh even with her background.
Easy reading with good plot
I had a hard time getting into this book. Moved too slowly. Didn’t finish.
I did not like the heroine of this story at all, but loved the first two books.
I’m hooked on all of the characters in the town. I like the authors writing style
will read all of her books in this series.
Sometimes, even negative attention is good attention, and the more Jessamine McMahon pokes at Ewan MacKinnon in her newspaper articles, the more attention he gives her. Underneath his devil-may-care attitude, Ewan is a romantic and caring man. Despite Jessamine’s barbs against him, when she needs his protection, he gives it to her, keeping her safe when no-one else will. As a newspaper lady in early Montana, Jessamine has a difficult path to forge for herself, especially as she has her own secrets. Little by little, those who have been able to breach her defenses, show her that she can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and she begins to look below the surface of things. There is wit, humour and underlying heartache in this romance, especially for those who have been used and abused by some of the less than charitable characters in the book. The story clipped along at a lively pace and I was kept enthralled throughout, finding it difficult to put the book down. The characters were realistic and I especially loved big, bad Ewan MacKinnon. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I found this historical period book very interesting. The town’s people were delightful and well developed. The story line had some mystery and romance. I found the book hard to put down as I wanted to see what would happen next.
I received this book as an ARC member for a review.
This is book 3 of the series and book 4 will release in May of 2018. I can hardly wait
for the next book.
Loved the book. Very believable. I read the book in one setting. I couldn’t put it down.
