Jane West’s life is perfectly average. Perfectly boring.Until Ty Strickland—Grade-A, smoking hot firefighter—moves in down the street. Then things get a little exciting, and not in the good, panty-melting sort of way. Not only does someone want her dead (seriously), she has to wrangle her out-of-control desires where the new neighbor is concerned, and convince her boss at the small town’s only … town’s only adult toy store—who meddles in Jane’s love life—to leave the new hose-wielding hottie off her matchmaking radar.
But it’s not all chaos and pancakes. There’s Ty. And his smoking hot body. Smoking hot kisses. He’s burning the walls around her heart to nothing but ash. And she just might be falling in love…if she can stay alive long enough.

I have found her books hard to get behind in terms of believing in the story, because there’s not much build up in character or relationship build up.
I really liked the blurb of this one, but it failed to grasp me. I did have a hard time with some of the stuff going. I’ve gotten used to first person POV, but this one just fell flat. A woman that works in a sex toy shop owned by her mother-in-law? There are so many ways that this could have been used in the story. It did, but not as prominently as I thought it would be. Also, there’s Ty. He’s a firefighter and that just plays in the background. He is so hot and cold with Jane that I couldn’t connect with him. You couldn’t get a feel for how he actually felt about Jane outside of turned on. Then there’s this whole suspense plot. It was very odd. I’ve read books where there is a small suspense plot working through the book, but one of the characters had some investigative experience of some kind. This was just so weird. It could be that so much was happening out of view of Jane. Nothing clicked into place until the villainous reveal. So, overall, I was disappointed. I am actually surprised that I finished. I think I just kept waiting and then I was at the end.
Montana Fire is the first book in the Small Town Romance Series and is a fantastic start to the series! This romance was a little different from other books that I have read by Vanessa Vale and I loved it! BTW I still love the other books that I have read by this author too.
This is Jane West and Ty Strickland’s (“a smoking hot firefighter”) story and what a story. It was written with a lot of humor. There are some cute & LOL moments, some suspenseful moments, and some pretty hot scenes between Jane and Ty.
There was a lot of sexual teasing between Ty and Jane. Of course, with Jane having 2 young & adorable boys & a nosy & funny ex MIL made up for some c*** blocking moments.
I adore Goldie! She is Jane’s ex MIL and is a colorful character and sounded like a “great” grandma type I would have wanted as my grandmother.
I think I might have learned more about how they breed horses than what I wanted. Hehe! Well it is informative.
I really enjoyed reading Montana Fire and can’t wait for Montana Ice (the second book in the A Small Town Romance Series) to come out.
I give Montana fire 4.5 stars.
Jane is the widowed mother of sons Zach and Bobby who live one house away from new neighbor Ty Strickland. The first meeting of Ty and Jane takes place in the adult sex toy store Goldielocks in Bozeman, Montana. After giving a lady
customer examples of different dildos while a Fireman patiently waits his turn for her attention, he introduces himself as Ty the inspector for the business’s fire
safety equipment. The next thing she knows, Jane brings her boys to the breakfast
at the local firehouse for a pancake breakfast and Ty is one of the servers there. Mortified is one word to explain Jane’s feelings but she and Ty do make friends in spite of Jane’s awkwardness. After breakfast, Jane takes the boys to tag sales, then home to come face to face with her newest neighbor, it’s Ty of course! The boys proudly show their new friend Ty the garden gnomes they each bought at the tag sale and then the troubles begin. Jane seems to be the victim of some tresspasser on her property, not once but twice and Ty was there the second time and tries to grab him but the guy gets away. One of the gnomes gets broken and a vile of what looks like semen was inside, which starts Jane questioning why it was hidden in the gnome. One unfortunate even after another happens to Jane and lots of unanswered questions drive her to investigate the puzzle. A man named Morty Moore was the tresspasser and the one trying to steal back the gnomes her sons got at the tag sale. Through her investigation, she meets Dex, the cowboy, Marlboro Man look alike owner of a Horse Stud Ranch, that Morty worked for, but Morty hadn’t reported for work for over a week. Ty and Jane meanwhile start to spend more time together and a deep attraction forms. Ty is trying to help Jane figure out the mystery of the gnomes as more dangerous events keep happening to Jane. The connection between Ty and Jane causes many bams and zings between the couple but there are so many small but significant events happening that put Jane in danger and now, even her kid’s lives seem to be threatened. This story keeps your head spinning with each twist and turn that all seem to revolve around the gnomes and Jane’s investigating their hidden vile of sperm. Ty is a strong, handsome and very hot fireman that has the hots for Jane. The boys and Janes friends and mother in law are all on the same page, Ty wins everyone over. We also have the Horse breeder Dax, a dominant wannabe trying for Jane’s hand
and all the mysteries around Jane to deal with. In the end it was an excellent love story, aka mystery in the small town of Bozeman that kept me turning the pages and hoping for my HEA. I am happy to say that in spite of all the stress and uncertainty, we get our HEA!!!
This is a small town romance with a smoking, hot firefighter and an amazing single mom of two mischievous boys. Ty puts out fires for a living but, he can’t put out the sparks that fly between him and Jane. This is a steamy, hot page turner, with loveable characters and a suspenseful storyline. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Montana Fire is the first book in a five book series. This book is funny, a huge difference from the last few books by Ms. Vale. This book to me seemed like a western, suspense, and comedy. This book is solely the prospective of the heroine. I laughed, until literally tears were blurred in my eyes. I love the humor, and the cute banter between all the characters. I enjoyed the suspense story line, and it’s “I didn’t see that coming” ending.
This book is heavy with character and area descriptions. Not a lot of romance between the hero and heroine, except short kisses in the beginning. I was waiting for a more intense attraction between the leading characters, it didn’t seem to me it was. Whenever I thought the “getting” was “getting” good, something happened to pull them apart. There were a lot of distractions there to keep me on my toes.
Jane West is a widow with two small boys, working in her mother in law’s adult store. I love this woman from the start. She’s down to earth, resilient, and funny. She’s comfortable with herself, so she doesn’t give a damn about how she looks most of the time, and Ty likes her the way she is and that’s all that matters.
Ty Strickland, ex-military turned fireman. It was hard for me to really get into Ty. Because, there were no bits of prospective in his view, I couldn’t really get into his head. I didn’t find him as dominant sexy as Ms. Vale’s past leading heroes. I found him more funny and boy next door sexy.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as Ms. Vale’s past books. If you’re looking for romance, you won’t find much of it in this book. It’s categorized as “western” and that is to be taken seriously. I also appreciate the references to the Meth epidemic, the hero’s reassuring attitude toward the heroine’s self image and family and friend loyalties.
This is the 1st book I read by Vanessa Vale. Some of this book’s storyline was funny . This storyline could have been better.
Great Romance
Single mom Jane works for her mother in law at the town’s only sex shop, but gets a little distracted by Ty the fireman when he comes into do the fire inspection of the store. Then she finds out he’s her neighbor. But it isn’t easy.
I liked this book and will definitely read others by either author. I can only wish that the firefighters in my city looked and acted like Ty because I would definitely consider playing with fire if he was the consequence! Jane lives in a small town with her two boys, the only good thing that came out of the marriage with her dead, cheating husband. When Ty moves in two doors down from her house, she has too many embarrassing encounter with the man to count with each one more funny than the last. THIS is what a small town romance should be and will definitely be reading more books by these two authors.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
While not the story I was expecting, I did thoroughly enjoy it!
Anything by this author is just plain SUPER!!!!!!!
Ty and Jane definitely have a zing. Jane seems to draw trouble wherever she goes. Ty , a fireman with good looks who not looking for love falls hard for Jane. Goldie her ex mother in law, runs an adult store…kinky stuff. The colonel who tries to keep peace. All in all a funny romantic novel.
I so enjoyed reading this book! Funny characters that had me laughing out loud. Steamy and romantic it was a perfect mix to keep me thoroughly entertained. I was very sorry when I finished it!
This is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. Vanessa Vale brings sexy together with funny for a wonderful book. I highly recommend.
Not as good as other’s I’ve Read by this Author.
The Heroine was unbelievably unconcerned about her own security and safety. She came across to me as kind of dumb.
With all the criminal activity going on there was practically no tension in the story.
Fan of all her books. True to form. If you don’t like reading Sodexo don’t pick this one.
Yum
Great book, entertaining love story with a happy ending.
I thought it was dull.
Montana Fire was very different than other books I’ve read by Vale, but still had the hot and steamy bits we all look for when reading her books. The new suspense vice she has added was an unsuspected twist.
Jane West is a widowed mother of two. Ty is not a relationship type of guy, however, when these two meet sparks fly. Jane’s two boys make one innocent purchase that sends them all on a wild ride running for their lives. While these two are determined to stay away from each other, circumstances just keep bringing them closer and closer together.
This is a great start to new series to for Vale, I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
