Welcome to Monsterland—the scariest place on Earth. Wyatt Baldwin’s senior year is not going well. His parents divorce, then his dad mysteriously dies. He’s not exactly comfortable with his new stepfather, Carter White, either. An ongoing debate with his best friends Melvin and Howard Drucker over which monster is superior has gotten stale. He’d much rather spend his days with beautiful and … beautiful and popular Jade. However, she’s dating the brash high-school quarterback Nolan, and Wyatt thinks he doesn’t stand a chance.
But everything changes when Wyatt and his friends are invited to attend the grand opening of Monsterland, a groundbreaking theme park where guests can interact with vampires in Vampire Village, be chased by werewolves on the River Run, and walk among the dead in Zombieville.
With real werewolves, vampires and zombies as the main attractions, what could possibly go wrong?

I was so excited to get my hands on Monsterland by Michael Okon. Jurassic Park step aside. You think dinosaurs could do some damage, how about vampires, werewolves and zombies caged up and put on display?
The virus had changed the world and in The badlands of California, Copper Valley, to be precise, Vincent Konrad came to town, threw some money around and opened his park, using the plague ridden to attract tourist.
What cold possible go wrong? LOL
Wyatt has a big heart. In times of trouble, he is one of those who wil share what little they have. When he pays for a meal for what he thinks is a homeless man, he receives a special invite to Monsterland from Vincent Konrad himself.
I think we all know how deceiving charisma can be…so everyone should be very leery of Vincent. Does he have ulterior motives? Is there more going on than meets the eye?
Of course, we know something will go wrong. Just how wrong is the question.
Action and adventure, blood and gore, friends and enemies. So much more going on than I first suspected and it takes a turn that was a wonderful surprise as I always want the worst that can happen.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Monsterland by MIchael Okon.

MONSTERLAND was not only an electrifying, and nail-biting experience, but captivating as well. Michael Okon not only can draw you into a story, but is capable of getting you deeply involved in the conflict, along with the characters as well.
Will we ever get tired of the need for bigger, better, more shocking, or more terrifying entertainment when seeking our next theme park vacation? Back in the day, a small traveling circus was thrilling. Then larger, permanent entertainment venues sprouted. Disneyland, then Disney World, and on and on. Welcome to the greatest show on Earth, more thrills, more chills and more terrifying monsters than ever before! Welcome to Monsterland. Yessir, want to be chased by a real werewolf. Share a bloody good time with a vampire or maybe take a stroll among the zombies? Michael Okon has you covered in his dark fantasy, MONSTERLAND. For the cost of a ticket, you can enter a world of danger and gawk away. But could there be a hidden price to pay?
Would you turn down a chance to attend the grand opening? A group of teens are invited by the mysterious and eccentric owner, but little do they know this monster has more than a grand gesture in his plans. Witness the torment of teen angst as one boy crushes on the girl of his dreams and her boyfriend is the school jock. but, who does she lean on when things get scary? Meanwhile, there is something just not right about this freak show of things that go bump in the night.
Zombies, vampires and werewolves are on display. Yes, they are real, yes they can be deadly, but the true horror is in how they got there and how the public craves a peek…not to mention what they really see…and that waxen vampire mannequin? Go ahead touch him…and don’t miss their concert, either!
Dark, dangerous and certainly gory, Michael Okon’s tale is, from start to finish a complete word magnet as he builds each scene, colors in his characters in shades of everything from weird to naïve to downright deadly and sets them free tell their tale. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Mr. Okon knows how to create atmosphere and build tension as he reels us in for that last moment, that last word and leaves us looking over our shoulders, jumping at strange sounds and wondering, could this really happen? Think I’ll stick to the Merry-Go-Round and a visit to the princess’ castle.
Sit back and enjoy the show. What happens when you lock up all the monsters in a theme park and invite the world to interact? What a loaded question and the answer is equally fun and action-packed. Okon includes a moral lesson between his bitingly dark humor.
Monsterland begins the series, also, called Monsterland by Michael Okon. To be honest, I was not sure if I was going to like this book or not. I did not think it would really be a story for me. Well, that quickly changed when I was about a quarter of the way through listening to the audio version of this book. This book is full of action, adventure and entertainment. Even though there is a lot of horror and frightening events, I could not help but to laugh out loud at some of the scenes. I just felt like I was on a thrilling ride throughout the book. I had no problem taking the day to listen to the whole book. My work suffered but it was so very worth it. I did not want to press pause to stop listening. I had to continually hear what was going to happen in the following scenes. Scott Brick’s performance was superb. I think he did a fantastic job brining this story to life and just the way the author intended. I hope he narrates the other books in the series.
I am giving Monsterland a very well deserved five plus stars. I can not wait to read Monsterland Renanimated to see what is going to happen next in this series. I recommend this one for readers who enjoy horror / fantasy / science fiction that is action packed and fast paced.
Great job, Mr Okon, for writing a fun and entertaining read.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
