Saylor is no stranger to the life of private intelligence operatives, growing up with one of K19’s senior partners for a brother. The majority of the danger she’s faced was at the hands of her ex-husband. And when she encounters Monk and his gentle touch, she craves it again and again. But she’s not about to let down her guard.
The enemy is closer than they realized . . .
When Saylor’s life is threatened, Monk is hellbent on protecting her—refusing to lose another person he loves. But circumstances are tearing them apart, and time is running out. Will the strong, silent savior finally say what he wants?

This is the story of Monk & Saylor. Monk is not really a talkative person. He just talks when there’s something to say. Saylor is a single mom with two young daughters. They meet through K19 Security Solutions because of her brother Razor. They are really attracted to one another, but neither wants a relationship. This story is witty, action packed and steamy. Emotions run high. It is a great story. This is a book you won’t be able to put down once you start it. Looking forward to the next Heather Slade book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review . I enjoyed reading this book. It starts with a prologue with Monk and Saylor . When I got to the part where Monk was hit in the head and saw Ava being kidnapped right before he blacked out then it goes to Razor in the hospital later you find out he was shot rescuing Ava to me the part where Razor was shot should have been before the scene in the hospital. But the rest of the story was good it kept me reading so I could find out what is happening and how it turns out. I recommend this book!!!!!
I really enjoyed reading MONK . He is a man of little words . This is book 7 in the KI9 Security Solutions series . The story is well written , great characters , wonderful storyline . Tall, dark, and a man of few words, talk about a sexy hero. Monk is full of surprises, great characters and has just enough twists to keep the story fun and exciting while taking you on an emotional ride. I have been looking forward to Monks story and it surpassed my expectations, he and Saylor compliment each other in so many ways, but there were times I wanted to yell at them and tell them to quit acting like brats 🙂 Awesome story!!
I have been waiting a long time to find out what happened in the on that K19 plane that went down and why. Plus, Monk is such an enigma. And, what is going on between Monk and Saylor, Razor’s sister? Monk barely talks, but you know that there is a lot going on there. Now we know the story and WOW! Definitely worth the wait. Saylor and Monk are a perfect match and everyone sees it but them! Ms. Slade’s characters are wonderful and interesting with chemistry that is explosive. The story pulls you in with engaging storylines, suspense and action. Hard to put down and I hated finishing it. I so enjoy the world Ms. Slade creates. Read it today!
“Monk” (K19 Security Solutions Book 7) by Heather Slade is a great read. I loved Monk and Saylor’s story. This is a wonderful addition to the series, packed with romance, passion, action, suspense, entertaining characters, and more. I enjoyed catching up with the rest of the interesting cast of characters that make up K19 Security Solutions. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, suspense, and series.
Rhys ‘Monk’ Perrin is part of K19 Security and takes his job within the team extremely seriously. Known best as the quiet, serious team member in the background of previous novels, we get a chance to see Monk at his best AND worst in Heather Slade’s most recent novel.
The best part of this particular episode is in getting to ‘know’ Monk. This leads to a better understanding of his personality and how he is perceived by his ‘brothers’.
Saylor has reason to be wary of men and relationships but Monk draws her in like a moth to a flame and she can’t resist the attraction that sparks between them.
This is not a story of insta-love but develops over months and years. As such, snippets of the unfolding story can be recognised from other episodes in the K19 series.
Be rest assured, Monk and Saylor have a HEA, they just have to work for it!
In my opinion that’s what makes ‘Monk’ a winner.
Monk is book 7 in the K19 Security Solutions series by the extremely talented Heather Slade. This book has a touch of drama, suspense, danger and definitely some passion . Monk and Saylor have an incredible chemistry and they have plenty of intriguing twists and turns that will definitely keep you hooked to see just how their relationship will grow, but there may be a few bumps in their path. Monk is considered the quiet one to most who know him, Saylor is the one who can get him talking. This is where the real excitement starts. I have to say I couldn’t put this book down once I started. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!
I felt that Ms. Slade had the ability to convey a ton of depth to the personalities of the characters bringing a greater sense of reality to her story.
The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting. Add in drama and steamy passion and you have a good read.
It is complete with its very own HEA, however, secondary characters are interconnected with other books in the series.
All-in-all, you would not be reading reviews if you were not already intrigued by the blurb, so I will stick with what you need to know:
You will find plenty of toe curling steaminess with a laugh or two along the way, and smile on your face from their happily ever after. No cliffy, no cheating.

Monk and Saylor have been featured a bit in all the books to date. In this one we get to see how their relationship develops.
Now it hasn’t been an easy path at all, Saylor is a single mom and her daughters are everything to her. Her ex is in prison and her brother, Razor, does his darnedest to keep him there.
Monk doesn’t talk very much, hence the nickname. I have to tell you he gets downright chatty around Saylor though.
What starts out as a no strings relationship, quickly begins to be more. The problem is both Monk and Saylor are afraid of commitment.
Many twists and turns in this relationship, primarily caused by Monk’s job. Plus the fact that in spite of all the talking they do they aren’t totally communicating.
With Saylor keeping quiet about something she’s doing and Monk finding out from Doc and Merrigan instead of her, just adds more difficulty.
As Monk holds vigil over Onyx, who’s in a coma from the plane crash, Saylor’s ex manages to get parole. Then even more fun begins.
There’s fun, romance, suspense, sizzling heat and so much more!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
The quiet ones are the ones you have to look out for and Monk is on the top of the list. Known as a man of few words it’s funny that the one he connects to is a woman of words. . . lots of words. But she’s also the only one he talks to. I knew in my gut that his story would be emotional and it was, mainly because this author wouldn’t have it any other way. Now we get monks story but that isn’t all this is. As much as they both fight this and allow their past and their present to get in the way it’ll happen, look at the guys who have set an example for him. In order for it to happen things will move and shake and when it all falls in place you can breathe again.
Their “relationship” starts off easy enough but neither one does easy and neither does this author. They each have reasons for the bubble wrap they have secured around their hearts to keep others at bay. What they don’t realize is that it doesn’t work with each other and when they do the chemistry between them is only part of what changes. A great addition to the standalone series especially since we see some of the old gang and more. Great suspense and action too.
