A philanthropist trying to make the world a happier place.A Mexican president on a war against drugs. And a gorgeous girlfriend dating both of them.Since hearing the Beatles song Revolution, Mike Good has dreamed of raising world consciousness. Tone-deaf, it wouldn’t be with his music. Resilient, Mike chose an alternate route: grow mind-blowing marijuana. Too bad his dream was against the law.… dream was against the law.
Despite decades of effort and thousands of people enjoying the results, the world still hadn’t come around. At least the politicians making the laws.
When his indoor project turned radioactive, Mike took his talents south—only to find new obstacles there. Many of them. But ridiculous laws had never stopped him before. Armed with a love of adventure, a lack of common sense, and a phony reputation as a ninja, he’d try again.
Success was far from guaranteed. Especially with the president of Mexico, the Mexican Army, Homeland Security, the DEA, the CIA, and award-losing Fox News journalist Gerardo aligned against him.
Can Mike beat the odds? Stay alive and unbusted? With the help of local cartel bosses, his wacky partner Loco, his well-connected girlfriend, and a quirky cast of criminals, cops, and Feds, he’ll give it his best shot.

*some spoilers*
Mike Good, aka the infamous Senor Bueno has reached his half-century, which is incredible as I’ve always pictured him as much younger! What he does have in his latest ‘travel adventure’ in Calabasas is Gloria, a panty-meltingly hot lawyer girlfriend two decades his junior…so far, so good!! What’s not so good for Mike, is that he has to share Gloria with none other than El Presidente of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, in order to evade scrutiny of his latest pot-growing plan, (to promote the raising of world consciousness and peace through marijuana).
Mike’s partners in the venture are the ‘usual suspects’, Bighead, El Brujo, El Chapo and new recruits Loco and Rico, while opponents include his nemesis Gerardo (a so-called investigative journalist) who relentlessly pursues Senor Bueno, even when the tip-offs as to his location are given by Mike himself), El Machine and General Havoc, plus his corrupt troops.
I nearly choked to death with uncontrollably hysterical laughter when Mike called Fox News’ Speedy Hardbaugh and Gerardo, to say that Senor Bueno was none other than (his own brother), Major Johnny Good, before repeating scurrilous and hilarious stories of what Major Johnny had supposedly been guilty of in the past.* I’ve had to develop iron control over my bladder to prevent ‘accidents’ while enjoying this far-out, wonderful comic-romp of a memoir, that is worthy to be considered the best in an already outstanding series by Mike B Good.
Whatever you do, DON’T miss Money, Guns and Lawyers at any cost – each page is a gem, worth a comic fortune!
* (On the plus side for them, sales of Kleenex tissues and Tena Lady incontinence pads have gone through the roof lately!).
Money, Guns and Lawyers #10 – Here we go again. If you have read one of Mr. Good’s book, you know what to expect. Well written, entertaining with vivid descriptions and plenty of humor. OK to start with this book, but best to start with Breaking Good for the full experience. 4*
Turning On – This is the prequel to the Senor Bueno Travel Adventure series. I’ve got to admit it brought back a bunch of memories, good and bad, from that time period for me personally. I found this book more on the serious side although it was full of humor. Since I have already read the some of the series, I don’t know whether this should be read first by anyone new to Mr. Good’s work or not. Either way it was an interesting read. 4*
Breaking Good #1 – Had to break this down into small pieces nightly, else I saturated on the fun and silliness. The book did get better after a few chapters and I could read more in a sitting. This is a well written, funny book that moves along faster after a few chapters. The beginning chapters are OK, just in small doses. Mike tells a good story that keeps you involved in one way or another. 4*
Weird Trips #2 – Another well written, hilarious book. Nine easy-to-read tales that made Depends more than a thought. Mike is definitely an entertaining storyteller and has the gift of gab and blarney. I enjoyed this book immensely, as well as Breaking Good. 5*
High In The Andes #3 – This well written book comes from a gifted author full of blarney and humor. The reader cannot put the book down easily. The vivid descriptions, the fast paced plot and the characters that fill the book are highly entertaining. 5*
The Machu Picchu Blues #4 – Boy, this one took a while to read, but that’s a good thing; more pages, more fun and silliness. Another well written, entertaining, exciting and humor filled book from a laid-back author. The experiences the author shares is well laced with humor and truth, and the emotions run the gamut. His descriptions are vivid and you’re the spider on the wall, in the bus, in jail, hanging in the tree…. 5*
Kona Gold #5 – More fun; more laughs; more adventures. If you have read any of the other books, you know what is in store for the reader. Well written with vivid descriptions, you think you’re sitting there watching the events as they happen. You never get bored reading one of Mikey’s stories. 4*
Maui Wowee #6 – Man, this is another ride on the Buenomobile! You can always depend on Mr. Good having an entertaining, and sometimes surprising, story to tell. His descriptions put you right there in the mix of things; his characters are a hoot and range the gamut from cool to crazy to just plain nuts; and his locations are always amazing. Hawaii of course is one of the major characters and she plays her part to the max with all her beautiful attributes. Yes, there’s drugs, some vulgar language, but lots of funny happenings. I’m not or never was in the drug scene, but I have a lot of fun reading his books. 5*
State of Chaos #7 – Well written, fast paced and filled with humor, Mike takes us on another wild rollercoaster ride, picking up where Maui Wowee left off. Full of vivid descriptions, crazy happenings and more fun than a truckload of monkeys, forget the barrel, it’s too small. His characters are always entertaining and interesting, but I think he outdid himself with some of these cats in this story. The background provided by the other stories give a good foundation and a lot of enjoyment, but a new reader won’t be confused by starting with this book. 5*
Controlling Chaos #8 – After reading this far into the Senor Bueno Travel Adventure series, it is difficult to review Mr. Good’s work without wanting to do spoilers, but all I can say is start with the first book for the best ride. All the books work as standalones, but why miss Mike’s quest. Always well written, fast paced and filled with humor, these stories follow Mike as he tries to help the world one Mary Jane crop at a time. Of course, we all know about Murphy’s Law and “if it’s not broken…” and “it was too good…” and we get plenty of reminders about them. 5*
Marijuana Cowboys #9 – Absolutely a funny beginning with the first page. This is another wacky, humorous addition to the life of Senor Bueno. It takes me a few days to read one of Mr. Good’s books but each section read leaves me laughing and shaking my head. I recommend starting with Breaking Good and hitting each book sequentially; each book is a standalone, but hey, why miss the complete experience? 4*

Why do some people have all the luck? How be a badass but not be a badass.
Even though Mike has not done the things his reputation is based on, people expect the reputation and he lucks out every time with something happening to his benefit.
My logical brain says really?!, but my fun read brain says go with the flow and laugh. I fear that people will take this book seriously and try to do what he has done.
Remember it is a satire. Fun, easy to read, if like me unbelievable in spots. Just enjoy it.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Sorry for the lateness of this review.
I so enjoy Mike B. Good – baby boomers, this is a must read. Not going to make anyone smarter, just a fun read and Money, Guns, and Lawyers is best work yet, Entire series should be read and it don’t take much time. Satirical and funny, timely and political. No give away’s in this review, but want to have some fun in a book, Money, Guns, and Lawyers, A senor Bueno Travel Adventure continues! When another of this series comes out it makes for a good weekend. Thank you Mike
I thought this was a good book and I thought the author did a great job with the character build up and the storyline was a good fit with the way the story went
Our man Mikey has done it again! His desire to raise world consciousness overcomes his common sense. This story takes him deep into the wilds of Mexico where his goal is to show he is the best grower. Of course it is never that simple. Mike’s keen mind and spirit propel him to another unique victory.
If you ever want to know how to grow marijuana these are the books to read. This one concentrates more on the starting of the plants (our heros are a bit busy at the later stages).
As is increasingly the case, you get a bit of a history lesson on our corrupt government in the 60’s and 70’s. I get bogged down in the details but enjoy the unfortunately true portrayal of our shock media with the difference in the Blitz and Speedy characters.
I enjoy how Mike is able to get his crew to rally around a half baked idea to get a shot at redemption. He manages to pull it off with considerable help from a diverse group of people.
All in all, another fun (for the reader at least) adventure!
Once again Senor Bueno tries his own brand of ‘philanthropy’ to get a world consciousness raising amount of marijuana grown, this time in Mexico. Needless to say this leads to all sorts of complicated and hilarious situations, including sharing his girlfriend with the president.
Apart from the humour, the other aspect of this series that I really enjoy is the descriptions of the locations that Senor Bueno visits and indeed tries to cultivate (with mixed results), I also love the characters that he encounters, who are very well judged caricatures of characters that you can imagine.
For me this is probably the best book in the series so far, it kept me engaged and laughing for the duration of the book. As always with series, it is an advantage to have read some of the other books as they explain some of the references to previous events, but even so it still makes an excellent stand-alone read.
I received an advance copy of the book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
