She’s a brainy college sophomore. He’s a basketball captain with charm and popularity. Does her vow to steer clear of jerks need a time out? Bookworm Addison James pledged to crush it in her second year in college, so avoiding guys who’ll break her heart is at the top of her list. When a smoking hot jerk makes her Monday night shift part of his weekly routine, she wonders if her resolution will … wonders if her resolution will last until midterms.
Parker Kent knows he’s at the summit of the popularity food chain, and he plays it to the max. He loves the envious looks his athletic, tattoo-covered body awards him, but it’s Addison’s witty banter that truly draws him in. Unfortunately, not even he can persuade the gorgeous geek to drop her defenses. Doesn’t mean he’ll give up, though. He has persistence by the bucket loads and skills both on and off the court.
Can Parker show Addison that not all college relationships end up out of bounds?

Really good read
What’s not to like?
Football and basketball players, cheerleaders, and witty comebacks – this book has in spades! You’ll laugh and commiserate with Addison as she struggles to stay away from players while swooning over one particular player that she just can’t shake off!
I like how this book swings from funny, serious, socially relevant, to romantic! It’s a smorgasbord of emotions, and I’m actually sad that it had to end!
Monday Night Guy is another great story by Liz Lovelock! The first story in the My Guy series; I was completely drawn in from the very beginning! It is a fun, light read that tells the story of college students, Parker and Addison as they work their way from frenemies to lovers searching for their HEA.
Liz Lovelock is a great storyteller! I can’t wait to read Elsie’s story in book two!
Monday Night Guy has all the makings of a great story – relatable characters, a dose of angst, completely swoon-worthy moments, and a storyline that hooks you from the beginning.
Addison struck a chord with me. I’ve been in a similar situation so I empathised with her completely. I’ve been through her struggles and I’ve felt her pain. To me, she was completely real. It’s not often that a book has the ability to make me feel so strongly about a character, so I take my hat off to Liz Lovelock. Monday Night Guy is not only a romance, but a story of personal growth, development, and rediscovery.
I could not put this book down, I read it as fast as my eyes would let me. I loved Parker and Addison and they’re story. A definite must read for lovers of college romance.
If you’re looking for a easy, light hearted and cute read, this is it. Monday Night Guy is a college romance and deals with things such a drinking, bullying, physical abuse but also friendship, unspoken loves, lost relationships and romance. Very good read.
06/15/2021 “Monday Night Guy” (nook) was a touching love story.
I finished reading this book about a week ago and I do not remember everything about it. I do know that I enjoyed Parker’s and Addison’s story and would recommend it to others.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Parker and Addison’s story. Parker is the basketball captain, and Addison is a studious bookaholic. Parker is determined to break through the walls which are around her heart. Will he succeed? This is a good story which is a sweet college romance, and filled with drama, angst, witty banter, and is a fun read. The only downside in my opinion only, is that I struggled to engage with the characters to start with. However, I look forward to reading more from this author.
Entertaining. Fun. Little drama. Wrapped up really nice but very quick would have liked more for the sister side. Loved the best friend. She’s a hoot.
Entertaining if you don’t expect too much
This is a new to me Author, and I can say I wasn’t disappointed.
Monday Night Guy by Liz Lovelock is a college romance that follows the relationship between Parker and Addison.
This story deals with a few challenging issues abuse, bullying and cheating; although these matters are serious the author has written this into the book with a light touch that prevents the book from becoming to dark.
My first initial impression of Addison was that she seemed to have a split personality; one minute she is too afraid to stand up for herself and let’s Hayden her ex walk all over her, then the next she is fiesty, rude and dismissive of Parker. All while wanting Parker But by the time their relationship starts to blossom my initial impression changes and I love the strength that Addy has. I thought Parker was too much of a Playboy to start off with. Flirting with Addy then dismissing her and being with Barbie. But after the incident with Devon Addy’s brother my opinion of him was sealed and I LOVED him. He is so sweet with his mum, sister Paislee and Devon OMG!! My poor heart…
This book also had so many great secondary characters that need mentioning as they helped make this story what it is. Addy’s girlfriends Elsie, Willow and Jane the bestfriends any girl could as for. Devon sweet, sweet little Devon I wish I had a brother as sweet and nurturing as him xx. Parker’s mates Jimmy and Dane they way they just clicked with Devon and also the admiration they had for Addy after punching something someone.
I look forward to read the next book My Aussie Guy in this series and other work that has been written by this author.
Monday Night Guy is a college romance but it doesn’t start out that way. Addison who seemed to have the perfect relationship with Hayden really was living in an physically and emotionally abusive one. All because she kissed Parker while drunk at a party and confessed what she did to Hayden. Unfortunately she was also the target of bullying at school by Parker, his girlfriend, and his friends and then he would stop by her work. Over time things changed and their dynamic between enemies changed to friends. I don’t want to give to much away because you need to experience the story without knowing what going to happen.
I do love how protective she is of her brother Devon and she would do anything to help him. She has great friends especially Elsie who is her roommate in the dorm. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
A quick fun and sweet story. I enjoyed the storyline. I enjoyed reading about their journey as they go from frenemies to more. It’s an entertaining read.
Monday Nights will never be the same…..
This was a fun relatively angst free college romance….the story focuses on Addison and Parker; initially they both seemed to be rather shallow and I did not immediately warm to them…Addison was just a little too feisty and prickly, Parker was too inconsistent in his dealings with her, and both of them blew hot and cold too frequently…… however, slowly but surely their relationship developed and I began to appreciate Addison’s strength and Parker’s yumminess and protectiveness…
There are numerous secondary characters from loyal best friends to abusive boyfriends and hateful sisters…and altogether they provided both humour and drama to the proceedings….. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between Addison and her group of close friends.. and a special mention also for Devon, Addison’s younger brother, who demonstrated so much courage….In some ways I felt there were almost too many members in the supporting cast.. at times I forgot which character was which…and more importantly I wanted to know more about each and every one of them and there simply wasn’t enough opportunity in one book to do them all justice..
This story deals with a number of challenging issues bullying, cheating and abuse; but whilst the subject matter is serious it is delivered with a light touch and therefore prevents the storyline descending into darkness… In the interests of honesty I did feel that the title of the book suggested that Monday Nights would be the main focus of the story and that was not the case… and as I mentioned previously I did not immediately fall in love with Addison and Parker…
That being said as the plot progressed I became more and more invested in his and her story and by the end was standing on the sidelines in my cheerleaders skirt, not a pretty sight I can assure you, willing them to find their HEA together… I received an advanced copy from the author
Monday Night Guy is an enemies to lovers college romance. Parker Kent has almost always been a jerk to Addison and she is not completely sure why. A year previous to the start of the book, she had gotten a little drunk and kissed him, as she dated someone else. Since that day her boyfriend has treated her horribly. Not physical violence but verbal and mental. She has no idea what to do. That is until she walks in on him with Parker’s girlfriend. Parker shows up too and witnesses the same thing. Finally freedom. But Parker doesn’t seem to get the hint that she wants nothing to do with him. He keeps appearing. Making her feel things. Confusing feelings.
I did not 100% fall in love with the characters. Sure Parker was a jerk but it was clear he was trying to be nice to Addy. Yet he doesn’t get the hint that she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Addy, on the other hand, gives him no chance and is always bitchy and snappy to him. They both just kind of drove me crazy. It was a sweet romance. The way their ‘hatred’ melts and their feelings grow towards each other. Beware that this has a slight TRIGGER for domestic violence and also the love scenes fade to black. Overall recommended as a light read.
So I really enjoyed this book. It was kinda fast paced. But once you get to reading you really get into the story and want to find out all the different issues going on. This book really shows you not to judge a book by it’s cover, or a person by how they seem. That maybe you should get to know someone before you judge. And to not make fun of people or just be mean in general. But it’s also a fun college romance with a sexy basketball player. I can’t wait to read the next book!! And I love all the nicknames, it’s great!!!! – By Tina

Always down for a new college romance I had to dive in and take a chance on a new to me author! Monday Night guy packs a lot of angst, a lot of sweet, and a nice sizzling bit of steam in one package. Addison and Parker made me feel all kinds of ways while I was reading this. From crazy to heart melting they took my on quite the ride with their story.
Occasionally things were a bit too immaturely dramatic, seeming more like high school than college and for me that’s where the driving me crazy comes in. I’m always down for a bit of drama but sometimes it was just a bit over the top with Parker’s hot and cold demeanor and jealous exes running rampant. I’m glad I kept going and gave these two a chance though because they ended up pulling me in and making me love them. Once they overcame all the drama that was in their way the sweetest love began to grow and it absolutely melted my heart!
College Romance…
…sweet and enduring, along with some having heavy issues..
This story can be at any college campus..
…the story is well written, and keeps you reading!
Love her brother, he is pip!
..excited to see more to come!
Now this is a nice and easy sweet college romance. He is doing all he can to get the attention of the girl whole stole his heart with a kiss. He shows himself to be a sweet caring gentleman as he struggles to get her to give him another chance. From irritator to lover it’s a sweet read that’s fun and easy and not at all what I expected from this author and that’s not a bad thing. There are some issues that are touched on and released which keep the book light. Not the normal angst of college romances and that made it so much easier for me to enjoy.
College Romance – A good quick read.
Everyone makes mistakes in life – it’s a given. Sometimes the impact of the mistake is worse than the mistake itself, and in Addison’s case, it certainly was. It was a gateway to the abusive relationship suffered by Addison at the hands of her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Hayden, and is something that we as mothers fear for our daughters. She made a mistake and he took it as a reason to be abusive.
She was also the target of bullying, for quite some time by Parker Kent, his girlfriend and friends. It was this aspect that took me some time to warm up to him, despite his eventual intervention between Addison and the abusive boyfriend, which in itself is a big thing for anyone, let alone this age group.
Issues covered in this book range from intimidation, and bullying to cheating, were all done in a well written way, and I hit this book in one sitting. For those who enjoy the College and New Adult genre, I think you would really enjoy this book. My rating only reflects the fact that this isn’t my favourite genre. I did, however, race to read this book because Liz Lovelock is truly a talented multi-genre author and I have absolutely enjoyed her past books. 4 Stars.
Addison and Parker are both at college, both had scumbag partners, but both are total opposites. Addison and her ‘girls’ Elsie, Willow and Jane all share a dorm room and have each other’s backs. Parker, Jimmy and Dane are the same but live in a ‘basketball’ house due to being star players on the college team. This is ‘the getting to know them better’ story, mainly Addy and Parker.
I have to say right from the beginning that this age group in a story is not my usual preference however I did enjoy reading this one. It is a sweet romance but does deal with some deeper issues in a lighter way. The enemies to possible lovers troupe works well and I’m already intrigued by book two with the Australian student.
Addison goes through a growth period, one where she builds self-confidence and her inner strength is very appealing. Having the rug pulled out from under her feet certainly helps to build her determination and courage once she sets her mind to do that. I found the characters likeable, well except for the ‘nasty’ ones and I really wanted to sock to those guys-a good indicator to get that invested in the story, well it is from my perspective.
Bring on book 2!
