Mona Lisa’s Secret was indeed a page turner! It is rare to find a story that is so action packed that it makes the reader exhausted but unable to stop reading! The plot had so many turning points that it made me chuckle, but the characters were so engaging that I couldn’t leave them on their own. The setting was really fun and as unpredictable as the next plot episode. The outcome was very gratifying on every level! A great story well told.
This author treats us to a meticulously researched book where you can visualize the surroundings and almost feel like you are there. He makes is very easy to feel the rain of Paris and the water of Aphrodite’s bath. Joey has inherited the estate of his father. He has found Marie, the woman who has stolen his heart. The third main character is the teenager Boyce, a homeless French boy they find in Paris. Everything rests on the Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting. Joey’s great grandfather stole Lisa in 1911 and kept her for two years before returning her to the Louvre. Now there is some question about whether the painting the tourists see is the real one. Did Leonardo write something on the real painting? And what does it say? What happens now? I think you will enjoy this book; I certainly did.
Highly unbelievable.
I really loved this book.
It was hard to put this book down when I had to.
There are a lot of chapters but as you are reading it — it does not seem long.
There is adventure, betrayal, great characters, non-stop action. few twists that I was not expecting.
History and descriptive locations.
If I could give this a higher rating I would.
Enjoyed it as much as Da Venci Code.
Absolutely loved this book. It was the first one for me from this author but definetly wont be the last. Still trying to catch up on the sleep I lost staying up all night reading. Other reviews have indicated the story was a “far reach” but I dont care. I’m not looking for truth, I’m looking to be entertained and that is what this book did for me. Loved the characters and hope there will be a sequel.
Mile a minute action.
Wow!
This novel delivers a fast-paced, adrenaline-filled adventure that is reminiscent of a James Bond or Jason Bourne blockbuster, centered on historical mystery instead of espionage. It has plenty of heart-in-your-throat moments that keep the reader completely enthralled until the very last page.
The premise of this novel revolves around Da Vinci’s famous painting, touching on mysteries that have intrigued people for centuries. Philips has capitalised on this fascination in the development of this original and highly exciting story.
The construction of complex and gripping plot lines and multiple strong characters with both intelligence and initiative keeps the pages turning, as the reader is keen to find resolution and answers as the story progresses.
In the light of perhaps inevitable questions and comparisons, it’s important to note that this story is very different and, in my opinion, superior to Dan Brown’s ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
In ‘Mona Lisa’s Secret’, Phil Philips has produced an outstanding novel that deserves widespread recognition.
If I could give this book more than five stars, I would.
It wasn’t bad, but I just felt it lacked at times. At times it was pretty suspenseful and others got kind of slow.
It was ok. Nothing special.
This book was my first from this author. The storyline was great and went in a direction I did not expect. Overall I enjoyed the book, but the characters were a little unbelievable and very stock. I found the dialogue a little stilted and clunky at times.
Amazingly well written and reminiscent of the DaVinci Code.
One of my all time favorites!
Not very realistic. Weak ending.
I really enjoyed this, despite not liking the male lead character in the beginning!
I love this book. It was an excellent book that had so much information that seemed almost real.
A very clear rip-off of Dan Brown, but well done.
It was a wonderful read that I had problems putting down since I kept wanting to read on to see what would unfold next. Perfectly engrossing and a fantastically entertaining work! I recommend for everyone!
Fluent and interesting written.
Great read!
