Molly’s Man by Laylah Roberts is a part of the Haven, Texasseries and will have you yearning for more by the end.
Molly has known since she was a little girl that she would die young; after all her grandmother and her mother both died in their 30s from breast cancer. So, it isn’t a surprise really when Molly finds a lump and is told it is cancer. She decides that it is time to quit her job and start on that bucket list. First stop: Haven, TX. She wants to experience life in the short time she has left and the stories of Haven she heard from former patient and friend, Savannah, sound like just what she needs. A little spanking, a little bondage, a little fun. She also might be a little naive about the BDSM life-style.
Jake is the sheriff and takes the responsibility of law and order and the safety of the citizens of Haven, TX seriously. Maybe too seriously. Ever since Rebecca died, he has not been able to really relax or make a connection with any woman. So, when Molly shows up, he really has his hands full. He thinks he can control the relationship and keep it to just “training,” but can he really?
Molly is keeping her future a secret; Jake is keeping his past a secret. Can they each get out of their own way to enjoy the time they have together?
I really enjoyed Molly’s Man and definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fun and sexy read. This was Book 4, so I need to find 1-3 and am really looking forward to 5 (Hope it is Saxon’s story.)
I did not know when I started this book that there were 3 previous books to this series. Thank goodness they are all more or less standalone. There are characters from previous books and mentions of those stories but it doesn’t take away from this book.
Molly ends up in Haven to take care of her bucket list. She is determined that when her life ends it will be on her terms. But she never thought she would ever meet someone like Jake. All she wants is to find some fun at the local BDSM club and take some much needed time with friends.
Jake is the local sheriff. He is still trying to get over a tragedy from his past. He has not had anyone in his life for 2 years or so. But when he meets Molly he decides to get involved with the scene again and interduce her into the life.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I will be going back to read the other stories to this series.
Wow, this story took my breath away. Molly is such a strong character and I am so glad we got to read her story. Jake is a tough man who has lived with guilt years, he doesn’t want a permanent relationship. Molly has her own reasons for wanting a temporary fling. But when these two come together, sparks fly. A well-written story with twists, heat, bdsm, and romance. Don’t miss this addition to the Haven series.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it and in the middle of the series. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by picking up book four of the series, it can be read as a complete standalone. Molly, Molly, Molly- she turns Haven completely upside down especially Jake. He is drawn to her from the beginning but he isn’t interested in another relationship and that’s good with Molly because she is dying and just wants to accomplish the things on her bucket list. Jake is a stickler for the rules and when Molly doesn’t fall in line he sees her as a personal challenge. Molly is sassy with an independent streak a mile wide which shouldn’t temp Jake, but it does. Will Jake be able to tame Molly? Does he even want to?
I didn’t really like this one that much. I could understand Molly’s fear, but I didn’t understand her not having a support system.
It seems like if she felt like she could pack up her life to move to a town that her two former patienrs, now friends, lived in, she could have shared her issues with them.
Molly seemed childish to me. She was a practicing psychiatrist. I couldn’t take her seriously as someone who helped people through their trauma based on the way she was portrayed in this book. Jake seemed angry all of the time. Not as much with Molly, but with his gang of “friends”. It seemed to me as the sheriff of Haven, he should have been able to have a conversation with another man without snarling at him.
It was an OK read. It just didn’t do much for me. Luckily it was a KU read.
