I learned a lot about the status of women during WWII. They contributed a lot, however, given the chance they could have done much more. I admire all of their accomplishments and contribution to winning the war in spite the obsticales presented by men and the culture at the time.
Women and war
Good read…light and quick. Not great list but a good plot.
This was a good book. It was a story about women pilots during WWII. I didn’t know about this program.
Really enjoyed this book. It was fun to read and kept my interest. The only reason I didn’t give it 5-Starr’s is the the book suddenly went to another character’s view at weird times and it didn’t make sense to me why the perspective changed and then they didn’t come together. Otherwise, it was a fun read with tragedy, heart-Break, and inspiration.
This novel is a wonderfully written, well researched and well told work of historical fiction. The characters are well developed and believable. The limitations on minorities and women in the military are well known and their invaluable help during WWII is the basis of this page turner. Highly recommended historical fiction!
I was hoping for more in the way of accomplishments and contributions of woman to the air war, in spite of realizing before even beginning the read that this would ultimately be a ‘woman’s book’.
All in all I enjoyed the story and can recommend the book.
I enjoyed seeing a woman rise up even during war time.
Historic fiction, including the “growing up” that war brings
This book is about women flying during WW2. Lots of action and romance in this book. Also a bit of unwritten history is in this book. I enjoyed the characters and the lot. Very entertaining reading.
It ended to quickly.
I usually love novels about World War II, but in this one, I was surprised that anyone is still alive at the end. I know it is a war book and I know people will die, but it seemed like everyone died except her and fiance’. They didn’t even tell us how some of them died, just that they did.
This book was very interesting, I didn’t know there were any women pilots during ww2, but it made a lot of sense that they were used to ferry the planes from place to place, given the need for the fighter pilots in battle. it was a very dangerous thing to do, and a very exciting read
I have mixed emotions about this book. It was well written. It was about the WW2 era. There was a lot in it about discrimination against blacks and women. They killed a lot of people off, which is probably pretty realistic for WW2, but kind of depressing. If that’s OK with you, you’ll probably enjoy the book.
Interesting story about an American Young Lady Pilot during the WWII and the trials and tribulations she went through. Enjoyed reading about a piece of history. Can not imagine the horrors of war and being on site. Glad she survived, when many of her friends and family died during the war.
Excellent book Sad to see it end
Nothing to write about with this book. If you are thinking this book has anything to do with flying you will be greatly disappointed. The main character repeats herself so much you begin to feel you have read this before. The book is not recommended.
I liked this story as sure some tragic things in the story……..finally a somewhat happy ending.
I grew attached to characters
Loved the story and history.
