4 of 5 stars to Mockingjay, the third book in the “Hunger Games” young adult trilogy published in 2010 and written by Suzanne Collins. Although I loved this book, it’s my least favorite of the three in the series, as it’s less about the actual challenge to survive against the other districts, which is what made the books so fun for me. It’s all about revolution against the government and who is really fighting for the cause. Full of commentary on the world and society in general, the book is a struggle to obtain freedom and fix the errors of the past. All the favorite characters (who are still alive) are fighting. Several perish. Katniss makes her choice among Peeta and Gale. Families are put to test. Loyalties are shaken. It pains a bleak picture, but one worth fighting for. It’s a fitting end for the series, but it also makes you want to go back to re-read all 3 books over again. Good memories.
AMAZING conclusion to the Hunger games books 1,2 and it is by far my fav of the series. This book even brings out the real romantic twist we’ve all been waiting for!
Enjoy!!!

Loved it!
I love this book and can’t wait to read the next one of the series!
wow just wow
Great end to the series! Not gonna lie I cried at the end but it was still a great book!
As much as I LOVED this entire trilogy… I think I’ve always liked Mockingjay the least, because it feels like a bit of a let-down at the end. It’s still fast-paced, the characterization is still amazing, and there’s one major unexpected twist that I thought was brilliant. But the ending, while realistic, is just so sad. It’s bittersweet at the very end, really, but not triumphant, and not even really redemptive. Katniss just ends up broken, surrounded by ghosts of her past. She never chooses between Peeta and Gale, either–the story does that for her, which I think makes the one she ends up with feel like a default choice, even though I think he was the right one, given the way this particular installment played out. He just happens to be the only one left to her, pretty much in the entire world.
…Would I have changed it? I’d probably have had a much lower body count–of all of the books, this one I felt was the grisliest of all. I also would have left out the last and most significant death of the books, leaving Katniss with a life to go back to at the end and some residual glory in the new Panem. This also would have forced Katniss actually choose Gale or Peeta. And I might have changed the dynamic between Katniss and Gale in this book, thus altering which of them she ultimate chose.
This is very, extremely sad for such a good series! Team Peeta will just about die! Great writing though, just a little too sad for me.
loved it and the action going to miss Cinna in the next one though
This is the last and final book of the Hunger Games book series. I’m going to just start out by saying this: I always believe that the movies are better, but the book was way better than the movie whenever it came to MockingJay! Their is just so much info from cover to cover, it is incredible! The character developments continue, and their are many sad plot twists. Definitely less violent then the last two books in the series. My favorite character dies in this book, which made me shut the book, and I didn’t open it for the next 5 minutes (silently crying for him). The ending of the book is a bit confusing, and shows how corrupt governments are, no matter what side of the spectrum you are on. The epilogue also feels like their isn’t enough, like it just ends on a happy note… and if you are a Hunger Games fan, you know nothing ever in the books end on a happy note, so it was a bit confusing and disappointing epilogue. Yet, the book was incredible! I totally recommend anyone to read this book!
I loved it almost as much as the first book but I actually cried during this book. I don’t cry through peoples funerals most of the time. So this was awfully surprising.
Well done !
Couldn’t have had a better final book!
Totally genuis in all aspects for the entire series!
These books are really good. You can really see the universe that Suzanne Collins has created.
I could not put the series down I absolutely loved it it was great did movies did not do justice for this book the movies were very good I was very impressed with the movies because most movies aren’t near as good as the book but still doesn’t do the books Justice
An epic series and an epic movie. #mokingjayforever
Hunger Games? Yes. Catching Fire? Sure. Mockingjay? Nope, not at all. I thought that this book was not good at all despite the hype it’s been given. I felt like Suzanne Collins put the most dismal (and most bizarre) ideas she could think of on a spinner then spun it to determine what should happen. The mutant lizards didn’t seem to fit and just didn’t work for me. I suppose she thought it would be a good idea to kill off most of the important characters, perhaps to make our hearts bleed for Katniss and anyone else unfortunate enough to live in Panem. I’m sure anyone who has read Hunger Games and Catching Fire is curious to know how it ends, but seriously don’t get your hopes up.
It just keeps getting better and better. I dont know why you’re reading reviews about this book instead of just reading the book, but hey, go read the book!
I had to really push through the beginning but otherwise it was good.
It is amazing
The Hunger Games trilogy is a winner!
I bought the books on special in the UK while on holiday and must admit that they sat in my library for almost 4 years before I gave them a read. The only reason I did so was because of the hype that had been created (after the movies were released) and I was curious to see what all the fuss was about…
I had a vague idea about what I was in for but I never imagined I would enjoy the series as much as I did. It’s such an easy read with well-developed characters and an original storyline that holds your attention throughout. Collins does a great job of ending the chapters on cliff-hangers (mostly) that keep you coming back for more.
Well worth your time! (Just pace yourself because if you’re not careful, you might just read all 3 books in a weekend)
