This book . . . . . had me hooked and shook me at the ending! Saylor just turned 17 and her life is tragically altered. To keep safe she is hidden in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota away from her sister and mother. Forced to take on a new name, make new friends and blend in, Saylor is trying to adjust and not lose it. Ciaran, Kai and Silas are part of keeping Saylor and others like her safe. I love Winter’s explanation of the school hierarchy by referring to it as jail. I don’t want to say anything else because I don’t want to give anything away. So just read the book! I read this in a day because I could not put it down. It does end on a cliff hanger and I’m already jonesing for the next book!!
I started out great and completely threw me for a loop but I was confused with some of the plot and a few things seemed repetitive. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see how this author continues!
I received a copy for an honest review.
This is my first A.M. Brooks book and I fell in love with this world and these characters! I can’t wait to read the stories for Silas and Kai! But Saylor and Ciaran are definitely #couplegoals. Now they definitely don’t start that way and for part of the book I wanted Saylor to just flip him off, walk away, and not look back, but I continued to eat up the drama and suspense. And the cliff hanger just added to it. I loved seeing Saylor grow and change during this book. I was always cheering for her and loved every time she stood up to Ciaran. This will definitely not be the only book I read by this author! If you love enemies to lovers, bully romance, romantic suspense, then this has all of that and more!
#MNGirl was such an addicting read that will have you devouring this book as fast as you can.
Saylor’s story is incredibly heartbreaking and it was horrible to watch her and her family being punished for her fathers actions and crimes.
On the night of her seventeenth birthday, her life is changed forever. Horrible events lead to her being moved away and hidden for her and her families safety. This is where she meets Ciaran and even though he is horrible to her and shows her no kindness what so ever, she is somehow drawn to him.
Their relationship is the classic enemies to lovers tale and this story is full of secrets, lies, betrayals, heartbreak, lust and plenty of twists and turns.
That ending destroyed me and leaves us impatiently waiting for book 2
I was not expecting such an intense storyline! Wow! The action in this was continuous and I didn’t want to set the book down.
Saylor is hiding out in a town with no one she knows. This isn’t a typical town with basic people. They have a secret of their own and you take the story piece by piece to find out what it is. Who are these people?
Further I went in the story, the more fascinated I was with everything. I just can’t get over the unique and exciting storyline.
Ciaran ping pongs between being hot then cold with Saylor. I’m thankful we get to see his point of view to find his reasoning but it made me still both love and hate him. My feelings for him went right alone with Saylor’s. A complete rollercoaster from start to finish.
Even with a cliffhanger at the end, I am so happy I picked this up. I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner. Onto #MyMNGirl next!
OBSESSED! One-click NOW! You won’t regret it! I love this original storyline. The characters are so well-developed and I’m so in love with the Midwest boys. Silas is mine – fyi. Can’t wait to read the rest of this amazing series.
Whoa!! #MNGirl is hot and intense. I absolutely loved reading #MNGirl. A.M. Brooks, author, did a fantastic job creating a wonderful cast of characters and world of Rogue. Say (Saylor), Ci (Ciaran), Kai, Si (Silas), Winter, Oaklynn, Matt, Mila, Kelly (Say’s mom) and Jason are all wonderful characters that A.M created that have varying degrees depth and personalities, characteristics, and backgrounds. Ci, Kai, and Si grew up together and were taught from a very young age to help in the Rogue organization. I loved how A.M. described as how the name came about when giving Say the background on what was happening when Kelly had Say call Matt. Ok, I will stop there with the description and details about #MNGirl as I definitely don’t want to spoil this book for anyone! #MNGirl has so many twists, turns, things going sideways, emotions, heat, secrets, and shocking revelations. All of which captures your attention from the very beginning. #MNGirl draws you in and has you feeling so many differing emotions that you empathize with the characters. Readers will laugh, cry, want to knock some sense into certain characters, gets you mad, happy, hot, and so many more. Readers will not be able to put this book down and will for certain not want any distractions or interruption. I for one didn’t even want to answer the phone when I was reading #MNGirl. If I had to answer I kept it very short. I highly suggest that you start reading somewhere you know you won’t be interrupted and start in the day so you won’t be up all night like I was. As you probably guessed by now I highly, sincerely, honestly recommend reading #MNGirl. This was the first time I read a book from A.M. Brooks and I know it will not be the last as I can’t wait to start My #MNGirl, book 2 of the Midwest Boys Series. I, also, know that I will be checking out her other books while waiting for #SummerGirl, book 3 of Midwest Boys. Hoping #SummerGirl will be Oaklynn and Kai’s story. Anyway, enjoy reading the Midwest Boys Series!! Notice I said series and not just #MNGirl as I just know you don’t want to miss out on any of the books. Oh and #Rogue is out and is all about the older generation which consists of Kelly & Jason’s, and Matt & Erika’s stories. Kelly & Jason’s will be bittersweet as we all know how it ends from the information given in both #MNGirl and My #MNGirl (cheated started to read My #MNGirl before writing my review ). I am reading the books in order they were released as that is how I started the Midwest Boys Series but newbies can always start with #Rogue. Either way, enjoy your reading .
I loved Saylor. She went through so much in the span of this book. Despite being constantly put down by the state of her life and the Midwest Boys, I still thought she came across strong and confident. I felt sad for her. She really didn’t fight back very much because she thought she deserved what was being thrown at her. Towards the end of this book, I think she started to realize she wasn’t being treated right. She cares so much for her family, her friends, and even these new people who have reluctantly come to her aid. This book ended after a disastrous event and I am interested to see how Saylor handles it in the next one.
I’ll admit there were some times that I really didn’t like Ciaran. I value loyalty, but blind loyalty to the extent of causing someone else pain? Blaming someone for their parent’s mistakes? Not defending her from Silas’ vitriol after they had begun to grow closer? However, it’s clear that Ciaran loves Saylor and plans to fight for her. I hope he redeems himself from his early treatment of her in book two (maybe some good ‘ole groveling?) because I am still interested in his character and would love to see more from him.
The relationship between Ciaran and Saylor was both tender and steamy. It was romantic to watch these two fall deeper and deeper into their feelings for one another with every stolen moment. I loved the friendship with Oaklynn and the relationship Saylor had with her mother and sister. The side characters and the bits and pieces of their own backstories are all gripping. Rogue is unique and I can’t wait to see more unfold in #MyMNGirl.
From the beginning your intrigued by the mystery surrounding our heroines family. There’s so many hints and drops just when you think you know what’s going on you don’t. The ending is quite a feat and ends on a huge cliffy. There are some elements that I didn’t totally like but that didn’t deter me from stopping. The suspense and thrills keep you so engrossed that you don’t want to stop.
The heroines family had money but that money was tainted because of her father obtained it. Then he ups and disappears, leaving his family to pay the price for his illegal activity. Which they pay dearly, and prompts them to go into hiding. But it doesn’t go well for Saylor and where she’s staying, after deciding that they need to split up to hide.
There she meets Ciaran, the hero and his friends who take a dislike to her instantly, some more than others. But how long does that last? There is some bullying until feelings come into play. This is where the story turns from the rollercoaster of her parents and deeds to worse. You’ll be glued to the book. The turns and twists were not all as I expected. Some my heart race and had me racking my mind. It’s like a hurricane of feelings mixed with darkness that long leaves destruction behind in it’s wake.
This is definitely one of the most suspenseful romantic reads I have had the pleasure of delving into in a long time. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series! Highly recommend.

This story is AMAZING. It is an enemies-to-lovers romance. From the very beginning the story tosses you in all different directions, with all different emotions. When Saylor and Ciaran meet, there is so much tension between them which becomes worse when his best friends are around. A. M. Brooks did wonderful with the push and pull between characters, keep the reader wanting more, knowing that eventually Saylor and Ciaran will finally get together. This story is far from a quick romance, there is a lot that builds up, a lot they must learn, and a lot that has to happen before they finally open up to each other.
If you are looking for a story that has a mix of action, suspense, and romance… then this is the book for you! I was on the edge of my seat more times than I can count, and not able to put the book down until I passed out. It keeps you on your toes, and you become so involved and invested into the story that all you want is more.
An exhilarating and thrilling start to a new series.
Review:
#MNGirl had me on emotional overdrive from beginning to end. In the first few chapters you experience Saylor’s (our heroine) devastation at the current imploding of her world. This is only coupled by an attack that results in her being separated from her mom and sister.
Saylor is so strong and brave. She takes on the momentous task of being hidden away, losing her identity overnight, whilst facing the animosity and freeze out from her new housemate Ciaran (our hero) and his friends. All the while rocking her purple hair.
“WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU WEIRD AT PARTIES”
The dual perspective narration enhanced #MNGirl overall. We get see both our characters grapple and struggle with their feelings. Saylor and Ciaran desperation and need for one another was palpable.
“I only see you,too”
There is so much intrigue and suspense underlying every new chapter. I was left unable to put this story down.
The side characters were just as interesting as Say and Ci. I want to know more about the Midwest Boys, including Reed, just as much as I want to know what happens following that cliffhanger ending.

I’m not typically a fan of enemies to lovers or bully romance, however you choose to label it, especially with young adults and teenagers. So I went in not expecting to really enjoy this, not for any lack on the author’s part but simply because of my personal preferences. I’ve heard such good things about it that I decided to give it a try. Am I ever glad I did! I don’t give 5 stars often, but this one deserves every single one! It is so well written, the characters are well developed and relatable, the dialog is intelligent and engaging, there’s humor, angst, suspense, and sexy times. This hit all the marks for me (I even teared up a time or two) and was a page turner. As soon as I was done I started My #MNGIRL and finished it in one day as well. Now I’m sorry I went through both so fast, I have to wait for the next one! I will say these have cliffhanger endings, but I feel like I got a full story and the second book stopped at a natural point. I don’t feel like it ended abruptly and left me hanging at a critical juncture. I’m off to see what else is available by this author. I have a feeling I’ll be adding to my 1-click author list. Don’t miss this even if you’re not a fan of the trope.
This was a new to me author and one had many great things about, especially this book, and now I know why.
Although I struggled with the characters on occasion, the solid plot will continually keep you guessing even past the very last page.
Keeping this review short and sweet as I don’t want to give too much away and also want to dive into the next book immediately!
4 and a half stars
Wow! This was my first book by Ashton, and I am hooked! I thought it started off at a normal pace, but all of a sudden I was at the end! This story completely consumed me. There’s plenty of drama and action. I absolutely enjoyed Saylor & Ciaran. Their connection was fire! Ashton described their relationship so well. I connected so much with Saylor, I felt all her emotions as if they were my own. I’m bummed it ends in a Cliffhanger, but I’m so excited to see where book 2 takes us.
Yes. Yes. YESSSSSSSSSSSS!
Seriously so in love with Saylor and Ciaran, with Silas, Kai, Matt, and Winter. With all of these characters and this universe. I was immediately drawn in, held tightly to these words, and I don’t think I came up for breath until the very last one. For real.
There is so much woven into this story; lies, secrets, heartache, and suspense. A powerful network that lies on a foundation of dominos. If there’s one misstep, everything could crumble.
We see Saylor’s quiet strength, her resolve to keep her loved ones safe. She may bend, get twisted up, but she doesn’t break. Ciaran is fiercely loyal, even if it means mowing down a girl with purple hair that holds his attention.
I am so involved with these characters now. My heart aches for Say, and even for Ci, and I cannot wait until I have my hands on book two!
WOW!!!!
Where do I begin?
This was a happy surprise! Thanks to Darlene for offering the book, which I passed on . Thanks to Kiki for pushing me to read it!!!
This is not what you expect at all. We begin with Saylor and learn how drastically her life has changed in the past couple of years, odd to the drastic changes her family treks on until a huge incident occurs and everything comes crashing down.
The consequences are extreme and there’s no turning back!
Having to pick up her life in a new place and new faces, Saylor meets The Midwest Boys and it’s not what she expects! The secret to these boys will leave you in awe.
This book is full of suspense, the chemistry between Saylor and Ciaran is your good enemies to lovers! The secondary characters will leave you wanting more!
4*
Saylor has a feeling things aren’t as they should be at home when her dad leaves suddenly and the rumours start.
When the unexpected happens her mum demands she call rogue.
Ciaran, silas and Kai aren’t happy with the decision Matt makes, but not everyone knows the full story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book it’s a new author for me and I’m so desperate for the next book already.
ARC received from The Next Step PR
This is the first book I have read by this author, so I went in blind in regards to style and writing. I saw “enemies to lovers” and just jumped on this boat. I am so pleased I did! This is more than an enemies to lovers romance. It has some angst and a whole lot of mystery.
After Saylor’s family runs into issues, she is sent away with her mother’s old friend, Matt, to his home where his son, Cieran, who hates her for no apparent reason, also lives. She attends the local high school and starts her new life, under the protective and watchful eye of Cieran and his friends. All three hate her. They ensure she is essentially alone in the school, save for one friend. She doesn’t know this, other than the fact that they dislike her. She believes it is due to her father, but we later find it goes deeper than that.
So I use the term mystery to describe this book, because as readers, we have no idea what’s really happened in this town, despite having access to his POV. Cieran often says things that had me scratching my head. It isn’t till the end that we get the full story and know all the details.
The angst and heat in this book is still making me sweat. Boy, this author did amazing with Cieran! There is nothing about him I dislike. Even when he’s being rude, he’s likeable. I just love their relationship so much. He’s protective of her, but it isn’t alpha; it’s quiet and very background protecting of her. It’s heartwarming to watch those walls fall down.
Saylor is a good character as well. She’s determined to get through all this, and also finds ways to still get her own way, despite their rules. Cieran’s friends are fantastic secondary characters, with deep links in this story. While Cieran may have been the romance, his friends are equally as important to this entire plot. I assume they will get books in the future, and I look forward to it.
For now, I will be waiting for My #MNGirl though…
This is quite the story! I really never knew what was happening next and sometimes not really what the big secret was. It made the book exciting and hard to put down. The characters help add all the intrigue to this story. Ciaran, Kai and Silas are enigmas throughout most of the story. They are secretitive, crazy and have a strong brotherhood. While I didn’t approve of all they did I couldn’t stop trying to figure them out. Then there is Saylor, Matt, Oaklynn (Love that name btw) and a plethora of others. They were all worked in perfectly and I questioned, loved or disliked them all!
This is a first time author for me! The story flowed nicely and I read it fairly quickly. I throughly enjoyed this. I eagerly await more from this series!
