In this brand new standalone comes the newest Rom Com asking, What can go wrong?Hunter When my business partner asked me to do him a favor, I had no idea he was sending me on a blind date his mother arranged for him. Iwalked in the bar, saw the woman drinking her third martini, and knew I was in for an eventful night. After the unexpected second date, she didn’t know my real name or who I really … night.
After the unexpected second date, she didn’t know my real name or who I really was.
By that time, the lie was too far gone, and I wanted her too much to admit the truth.
Laney
It’s not every day you find out yourex-boyfriend is engaged.
I shouldn’t have agreed to the blind date. My mother insisted, and I wasn’t in any position to turn down a night out.
I will admit, I definitely shouldn’t have ordered that fourth martini before said blind date even arrived.
The man turned out to be swoon worthy, handsome, condescending—a perfect distraction.
Then I found out he was a liar.
I’ve never been in over my head to this degree.
Then again, I’ve never been mixed up with love.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am choosing to review it. Wow…I love this book so much. There’s a amazing chemistry between the hero and heroine. Cute, funny and lovely. The story development is great and the sides characters are a amazing and complete the story. This is a type of romance that you want to relax without any trigger or big drama.
I giggled quite a bit through this book- fun banter, hilarious situations and amusing characters. I did think that the characters were a bit of caricatures of actual people- the issues amplified. For instance, Hunter was a bit too alpha- he is constantly warning Laney about issues with safety and also he’s always following Laney. Laney was good until towards the end when she kind of overreacted but spectacularly so. Hunter’s friend, Anthony, who he sat in on the blind date for, was just crazy as was Sandy, Laney’s best friend. While these made for some funny situations, there were also times I was just shaking my head. It was a generally light read though and enjoyable because I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Ava Lucas and Connor Crais. Both were fantastic. Connor Crais is relatively new to me (i’ve listened to a few books by him) and I really love his voice and his ability to modulate the voice to play multiple characters. They elevated the story for me.
Mixed Up Love
By: Natasha Madison
Narrated by: Ava Lucas, Connor Crais
Every book I listen to by Natasha Madison is entertaining and Mixed Up Love does not disappoint! It’s a light, funny and romantic listen with fantastic characters and a fun story. Laney is not looking for a relationship until now. Finding out her ex is getting married has pushed her over the edge into accepting the blind date her mother wants to set her up on. Hunter is doing his friend Anthony a favor. Caught with two dates, Anthony asks Hunter to fill in for him on his blind date. Only catch? Pretend to be him. And our journey begins. It’s fun, flirty, romantic and impossible not to love Laney and Hunter. Through their mess of getting to know each other, they find a symmetry. But when secrets are revealed, all bets are off. Will they find a way to stay together? I love them, and the cast of secondary characters. The moms are hysterical, and I love Anthony and Sandy! What a couple! This is the perfect summer listen. Just kick back, smile and feel the love!
The narration of this story is stellar! Ava Lucas and Connor Crais give a fantastic performance and really enhance the story. Lucas is amazing as Laney. I could feel the instant attraction and the incredible frustration just with the inflections of her voice. Crais as Hunter gives us all the feels. We can feel his honor and love all through the tones of his voice. Love these two together!

Mixed Up Love was a short and quick read. It wasn’t my favorite by Natasha Madison. I liked it, but it wasn’t amazing. Hunter and Laney meet on a blind date. After the blind date the pace of the book moved at a super-fast pace and the storyline felt rushed. I think it had the potential to be more with more plot and character development. Communication was a problem between Laney and Hunter. Hunter is an over protective alpha male that has seen too much and was over the top at times with his antics and stalkerish ways. He doesn’t talk to Laney about his feelings, just acts and suffers the consequences later. He does however have a sweet side. Like making Laney gets home safely after a few too many martinis on the first date. Laney is a successful woman with a bubbly personality. She is impulsive and sassy. At times she made some questionnable decisions about her safety. I enjoyed the overall humor and heart of this book. The secondary characters, like Laney’s best friend, Hunter’s mom or his business partner added a lot to the book with their quick wit and banter between one another. If you are looking for a quick funny beach side read this one could be for you. 3 STARS.
Cute story! Hunter is doing his friend a solid and going in his place for a blind date. Laney agrees to a blind date set up by her mom…then she learns that her gay ex just got engaged. This is why she’s a tad sloshed when Hunter walks into the restaurant. He takes her to a hole in the wall place with fab food to sober her up. The next day Hunter has to take Laney’s forgotten phone to her and they end up on a second date. They get to know each other a bit better…then things get really interesting! The sub characters are funny AF! They chemistry between Hunter and Laney is palpable. Enjoyable story with great HEA.
I loved this book. Lots of love, feelings, and humor.
2.5 Stars – I really wanted to like this
After loving Tempt the Boss so hard it made it to my favorites-of-the-year list and then Cheeky totally rocking my world, I didn’t hesitate to pick up Unexpected Love Story which turned out to be a total bust. In fact, I even double checked to see if I mixed something up because it’s like this book was written by someone else.
Chucking it to being a “one book can tank” issue, when I read the blurb to Mixed up Love I didn’t hesitate to request an ARC. I mean, people, I really, really loved the first two!! Sadly, this one didn’t work for me at all either. To me, it read more like a first draft where you then go back and flesh out the scenes and expand on the characters.
The story had tons of potential, but then it goes off the rails. I’m not going to go into detail, because really, there’s no point to spoil this for someone who might not have the same issues I did. All I’ll say is that to me, Laney and Hunter both came off as immature, crazy people who would burst out in angry shouting bouts in totally unwarranted scenarios.
Though I like the concept of having parallel stories happening at the same time, I didn’t feel this was executed in a successful way here, which just added to my confusion about what was going on with this book.
I really hate having to say that for me, Mixed up Love felt underdeveloped and rushed. The characters had no depth, the plot lacked thoroughness in its setting and thus nothing really worked. Having had such a wonderful experience from the first two books, I’m positive my high expectations played against me, but for the time being, I’m taking some time off from this author’s work.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
I really loved this story. Hunter wasn’t my favorite Hero to to start out with but I loved Laney. She is a strong independent Heroine who knows what she wants and takes care of herself. How they met was a recipe for disaster but sparks flew between them and I couldn’t put the book down. I really enjoyed how Hunter evolved as a character and I am looking forward to more books in this series!
Natasha Madison is a surefire way to spend a great couple of hours reading. Her latest, Mixed Up Love is another example of why I love to grab her work as quick as I can get my hands on it. Now, this summer Natasha blew me away with her Perfect Love series and Mixed Up Love did not overshadow those books for me, but it was a quick, sexy romance that had its share of swoon worthy moments as well as some of characteristically LOL ones that I associate with the books Natasha’s released to date. I enjoyed that I could read this one quickly and it didn’t go too deep since I have read (and worked on) several books surrounding this one that were DEEP. And no joke – I needed a break before I dived into more but such is the case for someone who’s an avid reader, blogger, and editor. I would tell you that I don’t think you can go wrong with a book written by this author and others who follow her tend to agree that she’s a solid 4 to 5-Star Rom-Com author. I wish that my review was met with more reviews offered by others who enjoyed the characters banter the way I did and a little less judgey reviews, but it happens to good authors regularly and I honestly can’t begrudge anyone their opinions – after all that’s what blogging is all about. But I can tell you the “Mixed Up” formula for the first date had me laughing and shaking my head. Also, while Hunter’s character was a little uptight about protection of Laney, it’s his job and you have to respect his dedication. Hell, my own husband sprouts a bunch of the stuff Hunter said to my single friends regularly! Laney was good at shrugging him off and/or calling him on his shit when the situation warranted… although, I can honestly say I would have said a hell of a lot more, in my own defense, this character and I are nothing alike. If you are looking for a fun, summer rom-com to read quickly I personally think Natasha Madison is always the way to go…
Mixed Up Love is a fun, gripping, addictive read that will draw you in and keep hold of you until you’ve finished it. The cast of characters is fantastic full of wit and humour. Their interactions were hilarious and amusing to watch. Natasha’s writing is once again simply brilliant and flawless.
Laney is a dentist with her own practice and is still struggling with the betrayal of her ex from 2 years previous and is floored with the news that he is now engaged. This allows her mum to slip under her defences and set up a blind date for her.
Hunter (Im swooning as I am thinking of him) is a partner at a security firm. He gets talked into helping his partner and best friend, Anthony, out by pretending to be him on a blind date set up by his mother so Anthony can go out on a tinder date. What could possibly go wrong when Hunter doesn’t admit to the switch straight away?!?
Their first date had me in stitches, what a way to make an impression. Soon as these two meet the chemistry between them is off the charts, so damn hot. With Hunters strong, Alpha Male persona and Laney’s strong independence you will be quite amused with the push and pull between them.
I loved the interactions from the boys at the security firm. I am seriously hoping we see more from these boys!!
This was a great light read. I enjoyed the banter between Hunter and Laney and that she made him laugh so much.
This book is soooo freaking fun!! It’s definitely quick and a little short, but get ready cuz things move fast!
Hunter and Laney meet under unusual circumstances but sparks fly immediately. Both thinking the worst of their date, it’s actually quite perfect and comedic.
Laney is so fun loving and easy going, she’s the perfect compliment to Hunter’s brooding and workaholic personality. Together, mixed with a unique supporting cast, Mixed Up Love is a fun, endearing, sexy, romantic read.
While it’s quite short and I’d love more depth into all the different relationships, it’s only because I’m selfish and want more Hunter and Laney for myself. Everywhere they go, there’s a good time. That’s exactly what I needed for the weekend. Look no further for your next fun rom com! Natasha Madison nailed it!!
I loved this book so much. I started reading and just gobbled this one right up. One of my favorite things about this book is the humor. I lost count on how many times this had me laughing. I loved all the characters in this one. I could feel the connection between Hunter and Laney. Right from the beginning I knew how much I was going to enjoy this one, but Laney and Hunter’s first meeting solidified it. Hunter is just dreamy. He has so many swoon worthy romantic moments. This is an easy sexy fun read that I highly recommend. If you haven’t read a book by Natasha Madison you’re really missing out. She’s becoming one of my favorite authors.
4.5 stars!!!
Laney is set up on a blind date…not knowing Hunter is pretending to be his friend. From there I was hooked and didnt move until I was done. The secondary characters were hilarious. That twist towards the end…didnt see that coming!!!
If you’re a fan of Natasha Madison, you will enjoy this quick read. Loved it from beginning to end with a few surprises
A very refreshing romance with an interesting set of characters ,a great push and pull feel with some misunderstandings and HOT times.. I really got a kick out of the plot. Its so original and made for a good read.
This book was a lot of fun, quick, sexy and full of surprises. Hunter and Laney were such a unique couple. Their personalities seemed to mesh well and the attraction was spot on. They each had those buttons they seemed to push but it just made everything even more charged and wonderfully entertaining. Its some HOT stuff and I am happy to recommend it to fellow romance readers.
Mixed Up Love gets an EXCITING AND FRESH FOUR AND A HALF BIG GOLD AND SILVER STARS!
Mixed Up Love by Natasha Madison was a quick and sexy read. Hunter was doing a favor for his friend, though reluctantly. It should have been simple. Stop by for a drink and then walk away. What he never expected was the woman and the affect she would have on him.
Laney just wanted to forget her ex was now engaged and have a nice time. She is looking for a night to forget, so what if she has one too many drinks? Hunter was taken with Laney, but after the second date, he knows he is in trouble. The problem? Laney has no idea who Hunter really is. What will happen when Laney finds out the truth?
Hunter was protective, caring and all kinds of alpha. Laney is smart and independent. Together they are sexy and funny and have lots of chemistry. Mixed Up Love by Natasha Madison was a sexy, funny and very charming romance.
Read and reviewed for Sultry and Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Mixed Up Love is a perfect title for Hunter and Laney’s story because from their first blind date – the one that Hunter did a solid for his best friend and went out on his best friend’s date – things become messy, not only because Laney is on her fourth martini and her inhibitions are nowhere to be found but also because Hunter is pretending to be his best friend, meaning that Laney doesn’t truly know her date and as things progress between them, Laney continues to be in the dark about the man she’s falling for, which is a recipe for disaster and heartbreak.
The way Natasha Madison crafts Laney and Hunter’s initial interaction is unique and intriguing, and even though readers know the deception that is taking place, we also recognize the chemistry between the hero and the heroine, and as they form a deeper connection, readers are waiting for the truth to be revealed before things go too far because without the truth, despite the strong feelings, things are going to blow up in his face and ruin any forward progress he’s made with Laney.
The storyline’s pacing is beyond fast, which is problematic in some respects because it’s difficult to see how a foundation can be established under false pretenses; I would have liked to see Hunter and Laney’s feelings fleshed out a bit more. I don’t mind insta-love/insta-lust, but development needs to occur after the initial bond is felt, so that readers can see that the hero and heroine’s connection goes beyond attraction, leaving no doubt in readers’ minds that Hunter and Laney can make things work between them even when the truth is revealed.
Hunter and Laney’s story is humorous, witty, has great interactions between the main characters and supporting characters, and is full of emotional moments as the feelings grow between the hero and the heroine and Hunter figures out a way to still have Laney by his side even if he has some groveling to do due to his lies.
4 Poison Apples
I’m a massive fan of Natasha Madisons and like always I struggled to put this book down.
When Hunter agrees to go on a blind date to help his friend out he’s not expecting his date to be sat at the bar getting drunk. Laney wasn’t planning on downing drink after drink on her blind date but after receiving some news about her ex, I completely understood her need to do so. Getting off to a bad start, Hunter is really regretting agreeing to the date but after spending time with Laney, he realises she frustrates him as much as she attracts him. Of course Laney has no idea Hunter isn’t who she thinks he is and it’s only a matter of time before she finds out.
I adored Hunter. He’s a sweetheart. Laney manages to exasperate him constantly and I loved his protective, bossy side that she brought out. The banter between these two is fantastic, you can feel the chemistry between them and I couldn’t get enough.
I really enjoyed Mixed Up Love. If you’re looking for a fast paced, low drama, low angst romance with great characters, this is the book for you!
What a quick, cute and enjoyable romance from Natasha Madison!!!
I have read Madison’s other books which are much heavier and emotional, but she did a great job with this much lighter read. She really proved what a versatile writer she really is. Hunter is asked by his business partner, Anthony, to take his place on a blind date which is completely out of character for him. Laney is his date, a date made by her own mother. She isn’t on board at first, but that all changes when she finds out her ex is now engaged! She thinks this might be a good distraction.
Hunter is intrigued when he walks into to find his date on her third martini. So, begins this couples challenging and oftentimes, very humorous road to love.
Laney is also intrigued with Hunter, but she thinks he is someone else. Hunter finds himself falling as time passes and is afraid to admit the truth. You can imagine the fireworks when she discovers the truth. There is one thing Laney can’t abide by…lies. Her life as she knew it was destroyed by one, and she won’t be a part of deception again.
I also like when a book is told in alternating POVs as it gives me an in-depth look into the characters, and boy did I love these two. The banter was great, and each had a way of keeping the other one on their toes. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two fall in love, and the epilogue is EPIC!
I loved the additional characters. They each helped round out the story quite nicely. I’m hoping each of the guys and especially Rachel will get their own books in the future. Natasha Madison just came on my radar this year, and she has quickly become a favorite author of mine. So, naturally I’m early anticipating her next novel.
