Katie, a publicist, and Ryder, an NFL superstar, are former lovers who meet again years later when she’s hired to clean up his bad boy image. The characters are well developed and have a deep connection. I really like the way the author brought Katie and Ryder back together and how the spark was still there. This is a well written, friends to lovers story filled with betrayal, heartbreak, passion, misunderstandings and a great HEA.
I was definitely entertained by this book. Ryder and Katy grew up together but lies and mistrust pulled them in different directions now with Ryder having issues with his public image here is where Katie the publicist. Characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly.

Misunderstood is a second chance at love with the bad boy. Ryder is Katie’s brothers best friend until Ryder sleeps with his best friends fiancé the week before the wedding. Jump forward to Katie is grown up and is now a sports publicist. Guess who her new client is? You guessed it, Ryder, an NFL quarterback who needs to look better in the eyes of his fans. The previous chemistry is still there but can she forgive him for what he did to her brother? This story has it all and I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.
Misunderstood by Katy Kaylee was a fun and exciting story, it has a bit of something for everyone. There are some ups and downs with plenty of twists and turns that keep you turning the pages as quickly as possible to see what lays ahead for these great characters. If you love a story with a football player who needs a change for his image and the woman whose job it is to help him change it she happens to hate him. Let’s just say this is where the real fun and excitement starts. I highly recommend this great book.

I absolutely loved this book. Katie had been in love with her brother’s best friend Ryder since she was twelve years old. Ryder, the bad boy who made good, is now an NFL star, who is now accused of doing the unthinkable. Katie and Ryder hook-up when she runs into him again on the eve of her brother’s wedding. Four years later, Katie is now in a publicist in California, is asked to clean-up the image of the bad boy of the NFL, Ryder. Can they keep this strictly professional or will past events repeat themselves? The story line is original and allows the characters to develop as it progresses.

A wonderful well written book.
This book is awesome with lots of in depth circumstances that will have you shouting no no no then have you sighting. Your going to spontaneous combust while reading Ryder and Katie’s story. It’s unnerving how the public’s perception of Ryder is so low granted he is a playboy, but there’s a story behind his actions. It took hard work for Katie to achieve her goals can she sacrifice everything for Ryder I guess you’ll have to read their story to find out the answer. I received a advance copy of this book from Booksprout for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a friends to lovers/sports/second chance romance story about Katie and Ryder. They have known each other since they were kids and due to a misunderstanding over their only weekend together, their relationship fell apart. 4 years later and he needs her help to change his image. When they first meet again, it doesn’t go good. She has a lot of hatred for him out of duty for her brother. She thought that he betrayed them both. As she gets to know him again, she sees that everyone is wrong. The chemistry between the two was hot. You can feel it radiating off the page. This story will keep you captivated because you have to see how it ends.

Engaging Sports-Based Romance
First of all kudos for the author Katy Kaylee for changing the title of the book from Makeover to Misunderstood. The change better captures the emotional problems Ryder, NFL Quarterback has that has resulted in bring him in contact with the PR Publicist, Katie, who happens to be the sister of his childhood friend Danny and who he took her virginity. Four years before Danny accused Ryder of sleeping with his fiancé right before their wedding. No one wanted to hear his side so he cut off any contact with the Danny and family.
Now Katie has agreed to work with Ryder…and they fall in love. Will they reconcile differences? Will Danny and Ryder resolve issues? Will Ryder improve image and win the Superbowl? So many questions that only reading will answer.
The book is very well written and immediately engaged me and held my interest throughout the book. The characters were very dynamic. Initially Ryder was hard to warm up to and Katie too. I felt she was too easy the second time. Where was the professionalism?
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.

Misunderstood by Katy Kaylee
Katie Lawton is working in sunny Southern California at a premier sports and entertainment PR firm in La. It’s a long way from where she grew up in Missouri.
Ryder Malloy plays in the NFL as the starting quarter back of the San Diego Orcas. His reputation as a womanizer and bad boy reputation in need of a makeover.
Katie is living her dream in sunny California working PR for celebrities and athletes. Her next client has a bad reputation and is considered difficult. No one wants him but Katie has always been up for a challenge. Ryder doesn’t have much hope about his appointment at the PR firm his agent is taking him to. He doesn’t care how the media and fans see him; he just wants to play football. When Katie meets her new client, she is floored because Ryder is the guy that took her virginity four years ago and left her in the dust. He made her promises and then broke her heart all those years ago. Katie sucks it up and does her job, but she doesn’t have to like it. Ryder isn’t sure how he feels when he finds out that Katie oversees his PR. He cared about her once but when she believed lies instead of him, he left and never looked back. The problem is she is even more beautiful than he remembered. Of course, sleeping with her would confirm the womanizing rumors. Does he care? Maybe a little. Will that stop him from trying again. Most definitely not.
I love books with characters that have a past and enemies to lovers. This book had both in spades. When the author can bring them back to their happy ever after, even better. These two had a past marked with a big land mine that followed them while they were apart and combusted when they came back together. Seeing Katie brings it all back for Ryder. The lies and the hate. His background enforces the idea that he isn’t worthy of someone believing in him so instead he doesn’t try. Katie makes him look at himself and calls bullshit when he tries to hide from it. She sees so much in him and pushes until he can see it for himself. Ryder is strong but underneath he just wants approval. He realizes that he had that already. He just needed to look in the right place.
I loved the cover art! It’s simplistic design is what attracted me at first. I read the overview, was a little skeptical but thought I would give it a try.
Should have stopped at the cover.
It is exactly what I thought it would be. A angsty romance that repeats the same idea over and over again throughout most of the book. The whole story could have been wrapped up in 4 chapters.
If this is the kind of story you love then this is a book for you. Not my kind of story.

This story is about Ryder and Katie. The intro to the story is all the drama you need to get a book started. Ryder is an NFL player who is best friends with Katie’s brother. He also grew up with them as his mother abandoned him as a child and his father was abusive. Katie’s family took him in and treated him as a soon; however, the story starts off with Ryder in a bar mad at Danny (Katie’s brother). Katie has always crushed on Ryder, but as he was somewhat family, she never thought anything of it. She invites him back to her place as he is wasted to get him to eat something. One thing leads to another and she gives him her V card. They spend the weekend together but not once do they talk about why Ryder is mad with Danny. During that week, she is called to the family house as the wedding is about to be called off due to the claims that Ryder slept with Danny’s fiancé. She doesn’t respond to Ryder and believes Danny’s information. Time goes by (4 years) and she is now a PR that is about to meet her new client no other than Ryder. Everything takes off from there which makes this story a page turner.
One thing to take out is that being misunderstood only stays that way until one does what needs to be done to have them understand. Also never judge a book by its cover as it is never what it appears. I loved that this book it gave them a second chance but also opened up the facts that many are quick to judge without knowing the facts.

Fabulous read, highly recommended!
He’s just a soul whose intentions are good, oh Lord, please don’t let him be misunderstood. Definitely the right title choice by this great author. Just loved the good boy behind the bad image & the sassy, smart, sharp as a knife heroine who was now his publicist & with whom he had a one night stand 4 years prior. Could she get over her resentment & disappointment in him? She couldn’t ignore the chemistry between them, smokin’! A seriously well written & interesting page turner. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
In this book we have Katie Lawton, she is now a sports & entertainment PR agent, out in LA, CA. She has known Ryder, her whole life. When she was 12, she started her crush on him. Ryder and her brother Danny, have been best friends since they were in kindergarten. SO, Katie & Ryder have always been around each other. Katie is now working as the PR agent for Ryder to help improve his image. However, Ryder has been dubbed the ‘bad’ boy of the NFL. Will Katie be able to get his image back on track?
Ryder Malloy, 6’3″ hard muscle NFL Quarterback, is every woman’s fantasy dream boyfriend. He’s always been a bit of a player, although once he see’s Katie, is a woman and not a young girl any more, all he wants is her. Even though she’s his best friends little sister, and technically off limits, all he can think about is her.
Katie’s parents welcomed Ryder into their family when he was younger. Ryder’s father was quite abusive and they knew he needed love and a family. Katie’s parents helped Ryder in school, pushed him to do the best that he could. For that Ryder would always be thankful and indebted to them.
I didn’t like Katie’s brother Danny. He blamed every failure on Ryder. Not ever taking responsibility of his own.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
