From New York Time’s Bestselling Author R.L. Mathewson comes the YA series inspired by the Neighbor from Hell Series… went wrong so quickly. He’d never expected things to end like this, but then again, he’d never expected a lot of things and that was the problem. He just needed to figure out how to fix this before it was too late. There’s only one problem with that…
He’s about to learn a life lesson that he will never forget.
Mikey Campbell loves her family, baseball, and teasing a smile out of her best friend. She’d never met anyone like Sebastian before. He was smart, funny, incredibly kind, and way too damn serious for someone their age and she had no idea why, but she was determined to find out.

Oh this book was so worth the wait. I absolutely love the Bradford family and all the characters and i could not get enough of these two. This book gave the reader a idea what kind of friendship both Mikey and Sebastian have. Makes you wish every person finds or has this type of best friend, one that they can could on no matter what.
Sebastian was a child who liked to get into lots of mischief when he was young, which really messed things up for him as a young adult. He believed he was the cause of so much going wrong, that he was not worth deserving a chance to prove that he is different. He would give up his chance of happiness for others.
This was a great eye opener to learn more about these characters + the others in the family too. I cant wait for more books about all these characters.
I’m a fan of the Neighbor From Hell series, with all its lovable and sexy characters, steamy scenes and heartbreaking conflict that always ends in a happily-ever-after with breadcrumbs leading to the next story. So, naturally I was curious in what Mathewson could do with a YA.
She exceeded my expectations.
Mathewson brings new depth to teeny-boppers Sebastian and Mikey, their wonderful friendship/budding romance, and the trouble they get themselves into and out of with laughter, tears, joy, and good ol’ fashion revenge (without leaving permanent damage to anyone who doesn’t deserve it, of course.) Mathewson, a master of plot, focuses her stories on family bonds even when they get on each others’ nerves, and are filled with examples of how to pick your battles, forgiveness, and seeing good in people even when it’s invisible to the naked eye.
I love how the children of the characters I love from Neighbor From Hell see their parents, siblings/cousins and their friends. Even though they’re devious little things, they have a deep understanding about honor and respect.
This story made me laugh, cry and applaud, then groan at the end because she’s not finished yet. Teens and adults will love Misunderstood.
The Perfect Beginning to Mikey and Sebastian’s Story. This is the first YA novel in their series that’s perfect for teens.
I loved how this story really seems to light teenage mentality and problems.
For those of you that are familiar with the Bradford’s and R.L’s Neighbor From Hell series then you know exactly who Sebastian and Mikey are. For those of you who are not, this series will follow two amazing characters. How they meet, become best friend, and eventually their HEA.
This book also gives you a glimpse of past characters and their children. Overall it’s a phenomenal read.
5 stars
Sebastian and Mikey are best friends and lives across the street. Mikey’s step dad is Sebastian cousin. Sebastian is trying to figure out how to get let back into school because homeschooling is boring him. Mikey loves baseball and anything having to do with baseball. She tries out for the baseball team at school but it’s not what she thought it would be. When Sebastian screws up again, this time it could bring Mikey down too.
I didn’t want to give anything away, that’s why it’s short. I’ll tell you though, I laughed my butt off. No major bad words and no sex scenes. But I couldn’t put it down. Mikey and Sebastian are made for each other. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about what would happen next. Be warned….it does have a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next one!
I haven’t read a YA book in a long time. But I had to read this one, and RL Mathewson did not disappoint with this book.
I love Sebastian so much. I already loved him before this book.. but now… I love him so much more! Him and Mikey are GOALS! I can’t wait to see how their relationship grows as they grow!
