“Regency Romance with a modern sensibility An action-packed romp through London and the English countryside, featuring unique and totally relatable heroines, irresistible love interests, and a cast of family, friends and villains that thoroughly captivates.” –Ev Bishop, USA Today bestselling authorNever let a trifle like organized crime stop you from marrying the duke of your dreams and … crime stop you from marrying the duke of your dreams and conceiving his baby. Not necessarily in that order.
Parental neglect and new money have been the making of parvenue heiress and incorrigible do-gooder, Tilly Ravelsham. She is bent on relieving poverty and forwarding the cause of liberty by whatever means necessary. True, she dabbles in the demimonde. True, she breaks into houses. True, she conducts scandalous enterprises and an affair that could ruin her socially, if her enemy exposes her. But is that all so very wrong?
Despite falling in love with Mr. Rutherford, a delicious man about town, Tilly is bound in a secret pact to the man about to marry her. She didn’t mean to fall for Rutherford, and breaking his heart is making her wretchedly unhappy. Then she realizes that her actions and influence are slowly destroying him.
Reluctant duke-to-be, Mr. Rutherford, has his life turned upside-down by the most fascinating, tempting and shocking woman he has ever met. But as merely seducing her has proved ineffective, Rutherford must find some other way of convincing her to marry him before she makes it to the altar with her rich-as-a-prince fiancé.
When Rutherford’s love for the adventuress of his dreams gets him stabbed, pistol-whipped, unlawfully confined, and almost framed for a capital offence, will he conclude that there is such a thing as a young lady who is too interesting? Will he turn to the mysterious, beautiful widow his uncle has made him swear to protect?
And will a concealed pregnancy or a murder be the powder keg that blows all of Tilly and Rutherford’s plans and secrets wide open?

Loved that the chapters were short. Could finish a chapter in ten minutes.
I really enjoyed it, it kept my attention, he kept me looking for what’s next
Loved it!
Very good read. I enjoyed it very much.
Enjoyed reading about the misadventures of the characters. After neglecting to realize this was the second in a series I should of read book 1 first—however I did read it after.
Enjoyed the characters and like them working on overcoming their vices.
A little silly. Not very realistic. But a happy ending!
Absolutely loved it!
Book 2 of this delightful new series is fabulous!!! We met Tilly Ravelsham and William Rutherford in Book 1 ‘Three Abductions and an Earl’. The rollicking adventure continues in this novel by a new and terrific writer. I highly recommend the reader starts with Book 1 and then reads straight into Book 2. The well-written suspense, plot twists, misunderstandings and evil people trying to derail our characters continues to the end. I hope Book 3 will be out soon to answer mysteries left over from this fun adventure.
Mischief and mayhem persists throughout this tale. The women are fierce and the men have to run to keep up.
This took a few chapters to get into but then I was hooked. There’s a bit of a modern twist on the characters. But all characters were well developed. There is no cliffhanger but there is a spinoff that I think I must read!
No, just no. An insipid beginning. Not interested in continuing the first chapter.
Tilly is SO real and so outrageous! I loved the dynamics between her and Mr. Rutherford. Even the subordinate characters are delightful — after reading this I went and found the previous book Three Abductions and an Earl that told the back story of Tilly’s tree climbing friend Lydia and the erstwhile Earl of Aldley. I loved both books!
couldn’t relate to any of the main characters
The lead characters played against type, which was refreshing. Tilly was fun, but frustrating–though quite true to life–because it took a long time for her to recognize that her life needed to change, and determine how to make that happen. A satisfying story of growth and love!
Not what I had hoped it would be. Fell flat about chapter 4 and didn’t come back.
Loved the surprise ending.
I read for entertainment, not a rehash of distressing issues that are going today.
Tilly/Matilda..to much going on with her. Took to long to get to the heart of everything was sorta of boring to me.
I enjoyed the light hearted-ness of this book!
