VICTIMS OF THE BLIZZARD
The story takes place two weeks before Christmas, where a ranching neighbor, Seth Ketchum, has gone into the town of Mistletoe, Montana, to meet the train. He feels terrible about his bull goring his neighbor, James Walsh, and knows that his niece, Everleigh Walsh, is coming for a Christmas visit. The train is late arriving, then people want to chat with her, and a storm is brewing. By the time these two head out, things become perilous, the weather is a whiteout blizzard, and Seth can’t make it to her Uncle’s house. But what will happen when he takes her to his ranch?
Everleigh Walsh has lost her parents in a freak accident and all alone decides to visit her Dad’s brother’s family in Montana for Christmas. Who knew there could be so much snow and how dangerous it could become. Now, she is at the mercy of a stranger, and what starts as one night turns into days and then beyond a week. Seth is a loner with no family nearby, but he has good neighbors and tries to be neighborly after his bull gored his neighbor. Now, that act of kindness is under his roof, and he must keep her safe. But who will keep them apart?
“Seth’s mother had instilled in him that a good man was always conscientious, principled, and responsible.”
The story’s plot will be set in place by an early blizzard, not just one that lasts for days, but with a second one coming right behind it. Seth is a man who left Oregon after Catherine left him standing alone at the altar. He couldn’t stand the pitying looks and whispers and moved to Montana, bought a ranch, and is making a living. Everleigh’s world crashed around her one night, her fiancé broke their engagement, and her parents were killed in an explosion that also left her homeless. The only thing she has left is a dream of being a reporter for a prominent newspaper. She has a promise as a typist for said newspaper in New York. Now, to be trapped for days on end unchaperoned has her reputation in ruins. The only thing that Seth and Everleigh hadn’t anticipated was developing feelings for one another. What happens when they take those feelings and make them physical?
“When she thought she’d never love again, she’d fallen for a rancher in the wilds of Montana. What did she do now?”
“Like a stack of dominoes, she’d easily toppled his willpower, his convictions, and captured his heart and soul.”
When the weather clears up enough for a safe trip to her Uncle’s place, Everleigh and Seth will have the preacher come by first, and he is demanding a wedding to protect her honor. Seth is willing, but Everleigh refuses to be forced. What will come of these two? For Seth, will it be a different situation of a failed wedding? Is Everleigh the runaway bride-to-be?
“Everleigh drew out the best in him, made him a better man, turned his house into a home.”
The story has plenty of angst, especially between Seth and Everleigh. Two strangers in a life and death situation, something beyond their control. Neither one was looking for a spouse, yet society’s standards may force it. Will this mean that Everleigh’s dream of becoming a female journalist vanish? Is Seth instead making a commitment, taking a wife, and starting a family? What will it take for these two to realize and share their innermost feelings? The passion is undeniable, but do they love each other?
“We’re having a town celebration for Christmas. I hope to see you two there as man and wife. Let’s avoid a Mistletoe scandal.” –Preacher Bart Nichols
The story is a steamy western historical tale, and while there is plenty of kissing, the mention of intimacy is not detailed. The story will read as a stand-alone and does have the coveted happily ever after ending.
Seth and Everleigh are thrown together for the holidays due to a blizzard and because Seth’sbull had hurt Everleigh’s uncle causing Seth to pick her up from the train station and thus be snowed in together at his place for several days. They slowly become acquainted and become attracted to each other. It’s a sweet Christmas love story and definitely worth the read and the price is certainly right! Pick it up and start enjoying today!
Seth offers to pick up his friend’s niece at the train station. Everleigh decides to spend the holidays with her uncle and leave her heartbreak behind. On the way to her uncle’s, a snowstorm hits and they are forced to take shelter in Seth’s cabin. Neither one is looking for any kind of relationship, yet they find themselves drawn to each other. Will one kiss seal their fate? This story was really enjoyable to read, and I definitely recommend it.
