Awesome book
I have read this author’s books before and they are all enjoyable. This one is no different. It’s an easy read and a great way to start the holiday season. In the book, Michelle Collins, is a school teacher and animal rights activist. She loves being a teacher and fighting for animal rights. Meanwhile, Austin O’Neal has just received a job at a pharmaceutical company, has moved to the area with his three children and is trying to get settled. He attends a party to start meeting people while MIchelle is her best friend plus one. For some reason, Michelle goes into the men’s restroom instead of the women. There she meets Austin and after a little embassament, they go for a walk and under the gazebo they kissed. Michelle thought she would never see him again, when he walks into her classroom with his daughter who is her new student. Not expecting to see him again they do start to see each other and get to know each other. But when she finds out she works at a pharmaceutical company that uses animals for testing she’s not happy. He has to prove to her that that is a good man and she’s the one for him and his children. Once again, the author wrote an entertaining read.
Michelle and Austin seem like an unlikely couple, Michelle fights for animal rights. Austin works for a company that tests products on animals. I guess opposites attract. But are they truly opposites? Can Michelle change Austin’s ways? You will have to read this book to find out. The tension between them is half the fun of this story. Austin is a great dad. I love how protective he is about his kids. It was a nice change to read about a caring dad. I fell hard for Austin because of his relationship with his kids.
Tiffany Williams brings this romance to life. I got lost in her performance of the story. I enjoyed the consistency of one narrator for the series. Ms. Williams has a variety of voices to keep all the characters distinct and easy to follow. I always enjoy Ms. WIlliams narrations.
4.5 stars for this Christmas themed romance.
This is one of my favorites in the series. If you’ve read any of the previous No Match for Love books you may remember that Michelle went on a date with Luke Ryder that didn’t go very well. Michelle is the main female character in this book.
Michelle and Austin have the most awkward first meet ever–when she accidently goes into the men’s bathroom. I felt for Michelle when she realizes that she’s in the men’s restroom because I did that once at a Walmart. I wasn’t tipsy from champagne like her, but it wasn’t my regular Walmart and I didn’t notice the bathrooms were flipped opposite of “my” Walmart. At least I got out of there without running into any guys coming to use the facilities, unlike poor Michelle. Back to my review–So Michelle and Austin aka “bathroom guy” go for a walk in the garden at the hotel where each of their respective Christmas parties are taking place. They end up standing under some mistletoe and “to avoid bad luck” they kiss. It’s all uphill from an amazing kiss.
Michelle hasn’t had the best of luck with men and Austin was married for 16 years when his wife (Victoria) left him and their 3 kids for her personal trainer. Austin recently accepted a job as a marketing director for a pharmaceutical company that still uses animal testing, and that job required a move to California. So in addition to dealing with their parents’ recent divorce and their mother’s lack of interest in them, they also had to adjust to a major move and new schools. I really felt for these kids and loved how Michelle interacted with them.
Michelle is a teacher who’s a vegan and also a member of Their Only Voice, an animal rights group who just happens to be targeting the pharmaceutical company where Austin is employed. Back at school following the Christmas party she gets a new student–Sydney, Austin’s 7 yr. daughter!! Can Michelle’s life get any more complicated?
Both of the main characters are very likable. Michelle is great with kids and loves animals. She rescued her dog when she was just a puppy, made blind by cosmetic testing. Austin is a great dad and a good guy who doesn’t speak ill of his ex-wife in front of his children (even though she totally deserves it) and followed his gut and put his job on the line when things didn’t seem to add up at work. They both jumped to conclusions about the other based on each of their previous failed relationships, but then decided to talk it out, and admit to it instead of throwing a possibly great relationship out the window.
The Their Only Voice people got on my nerves. They were all over her for the picture of her kissing Austin when she didn’t even know who he was at the time, and expected her to risk her job when she had to accept the donation from Austin at the school assembly, but didn’t bother to call or check on her when her dog Bella was hit by a car and she had to make the painful decision to let her go. Meanwhile Austin sent her flowers and went to the shelter to find her another dog because he knew how upset she was.
This is a clean romance.
Mistletoe Match
By: Lindzee Armstrong
Narrated by: Tiffany Williams
Series: No Match for Love, Book 6
Another fun, sweet listen added to the No Match for Love series, but while a great listen it does have some definite serious issues! We meet Michelle who never takes chances, but when at an office party, in the bathroom, gets the kiss of her life under the mistletoe. Austin, newly divorced with 3 children is not looking for love, but his connection in this kiss is so strong, he wants to go for . These two have definite chemistry, but is it enough to keep them together? Austin is a great character. He is a loving father, wants the best for his kids and has a good moral compass. Michelle is active in animal rights and we will see some clashing. What I love the most about this book is things are not always as they seem. Not all women are the same and not all men are, and these two work through some real life issues to come to that conclusion and find their happily ever after.
Tiffany Williams continues the narration of this series. She is one of my favorites and I find each of her narrations original and refreshing. She finds the specific quirks of the characters and brings them out in their personalities. Her voices are unique and easy to distinguish.

Mistletoe Match by Lindzee Armstrong is an entertaining contemporary romance. Ms. Armstrong has given readers a well-written book furnished with a fantastic cast of characters. Michelle is a teacher and loves animals. She hates companies that use animals for testing their products and is part of a group that protests the mistreatment. Austin is a single dad and has just started working for a company that uses animals for testing. Austin and Michelle’s story is loaded with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading Mistletoe Match and look forward to reading more from Lindzee Armstrong in the future. Mistletoe Match is book 4 of the No Match For Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
While I enjoy unlikely matches, these two characters are just too different to believe they could fall in love. A rabid animal rights activist and a pharmaceutical PR man who suddenly sees the light regarding using animals as test subjects? I couldn’t make the disbelieving voices in my head quiet down enough to truly enjoy the story.
I enjoy L. Armstrong’s books, even though I know how they will end. I like that I can count on them being a clean romantic story.
Enjoyable
A great story about how two people can get over their differences and find love. Austin is starting a new job, in a new city, as a single dad trying to get his kids settled. Michelle is sick of not finding love and kisses a stranger at her cousins company Christmas party. Little did she know things would change on Monday morning.
Warning: lots of spoilers about this disappointing, unrealistic story.
Mistletoe Match #6 – Whoa, I had major problems with this novella and I love this series. Michelle should strive to be a witch, then she wouldn’t be an extremely stupid and prejudicial, emotional idiot. But she does share these traits with the members of Their Only Voice with their pathetic attitude and rabid fanaticism, which blocks any attempts to compromise and solutions. I felt like I was watching CNN instead of reading a book. Ruth, while a good business person and her heart in the right place, to stop testing on animals, she’s …”an expert at twisting his [Austin] meaning and inciting wrath.” (Page 59.)
Page 57: “But Michelle tuned him out She was done listening.” (A never had a chance to present anything at a meeting with TOV where they constantly attacked him personally (?) and his employer (which is the real target).
Page 57: “He represented everything she detested.” (M kissed him at their first meet, considered him a good father, and now she detests him?)
Page 78 – 79: “It’s because of you Bella’s dead. … If I hadn’t wasted precious minutes listening to you, Bella might’ve made it to surgery in time.” (M rescued the blind B ten years earlier from a testing lab where she worked as a student. B was a hit and run victim since M didn’t check the yard before letting B out. A saw the car that crushed B but stopped to get B and M to the vet. M, understandably distraught, irrationally attacks A as the killer.)
Enough about M, let’s talk about A. He’s an idiot when it comes to M. He’s a rational person working at a drug company as the new PR director. He doesn’t ask for a tour of the labs and test animals until late into the story. How can a PR person not tour the facilities, it’s part of their job to know how the company operates so the facts can be presented.
His next strike: he compares M to his ex, a real piece of work. They are not alike, but this is the excuse he uses to love M. While M has good qualities, I still wouldn’t let this emotional nutjob near my children. She’s already proven she’s extremely irrational and prejudice. Like I said previously, this book read like the headlines and stories on media sources.
Page 149: “But she’d refused to trust him when he asked for time to explain, and that wasn’t something he could look past.” (A does a good deed, but M won’t give him time since she wants it NOW and then won’t let him explain when he gives in to her; all in the same conversation. Did I mention emotional and irrational already?)
Page 157: “I can’t be with someone who doesn’t trust me. It isn’t healthy for anyone involved. Constantly questioning your partner’s motives destroys a relationship.” (A tells M, but what does he do? He admits his love and takes her back.)
I found too much of this story to be unrealistic, characters and behaviors. Just because you believe in something and want to make a difference; irrational, emotional, fanatical behavior are not acceptable means to accomplish goals. You must work with and respect others to come up with workable solutions. A disappointing story from a really interesting writer, but you can’t win em all. 2*
Funny great characters
Disney characters have more depth then these 2 not to be believed fictional people.
Lots of info about vegan and animal abuse within an excellent love at first “kiss” story line. Well written love story without explicit language and sexual scenes.
Predictable. Female protagonist was annoying.
The characters seem to be a little unrealistic in their beliefs and actions. Took away from the story…
A great romantic read. If you like romance this book is it.
I didn’t like Michelle’s character at all. She constantly jumped to conclusion and didn’t want to hear or consider another opinion. Very preachy! Austin and his children deserved better.
didn’t care for topic and details of animal testing. those details didn’t seem to match the rest of the book as a sort of light romance
short and sweet
The story line pulled on your heart string if you are an animal lover.
