“Mistletoe in Paradise” is a Wildstone novella that takes place on a boat in the Caribbean.
A Christmas tradition since they were kids, Hannah and James haven’t seen each other in years. The reason they are on the boat this year is they have news to share with each of their fathers.
The news has to wait as these childhood friends, and one-time lovers, end up having to face their past, their fears, and decide if their love is worth more than their work life.
Ms. Shalvis gifts us with a sweet and sexy holiday novella.
This was a cute, quick read to get into the Christmas mood via the sun and sand. This was a friends to lovers to not sure how to define it. Both Hannah and James have to have uncomfortable discussions with their parents on top of seeing each other for the first time in years. They have some unresolved issues that they need to address. If you’re in the mood for an easy read to get into the holiday spirit, you can’t go wrong with anything by Jill Shalvis.
I know it is only September but after reading Mistletoe in Paradise I am ready for Christmas and a Christmas miracle just like in the story.
Hannah was not looking forward to spending Christmas on The Therapist. The workaholic didn’t want to miss work and could only go if she kept her phone on. She has avoided her stepdad, Harry, for more reasons than I can count. But all he wants for Christmas is her. How can she say no?
She wants to avoid her past, her loss. She definitely doesn’t want to give Harry the present from her mom. Her only saving grace is that James won’t be on board. A piece of her past will stay in the past.
The holiday is ruined with just a smile on Harry’s face. A smile that was meant for someone behind her. Never has a boat been more appropriately named. Never has so much happened in just four short days.
Christmas Miracles can happen. Love can heal wounds. Family can be the best medicine.
ARC received from author for an honest review
I adore everything I have read by Jill Shalvis, however this novella isn’t one of my favourites.
Hannah and James are stuck together for Christmas, and whilst I would normally love this, something about this one just didn’t do it for me.
I think it is the fact that I disliked a secondary character more than I could get into the story with our lovelies.
I know, it sounds stupid, but this characters was just so ugh to me I couldn’t get them out of my head when I was reading the main story. Sorry Ms Shavis, I know this will just be me!
I adored Hannah and James finding their way back to each other though.
And as much as I love a Christmas story full of snow and all that goes with it, it was nice for this Aussie to have a Christmas story set in the heat! Oh, and there is plenty of heat between our lovelies too.
I know I will be in the minority here not loving Mistletoe In Paradise, however I did like it, just not as much as other books by this author.
This is a heartwarming, emotional, and entertaining tale, a perfect feel-good romance. It has laughter, tears, regrets, wonderful memories, friends, family, and the realization that there’s more to life than work or living just for the sake of living. I loved this touching and delightful story!
