Ready for a feel good read that will ease you into the Christmas spirit? Join forty-three-year-old newbie innkeeper Jenny Beckett at the Lakeside Resort on beautiful Heron Lake. Jenny’s dreading Christmas. With almost no cabins booked for the holidays, she’s accidentally made promises on social media about dazzling Christmas festivities happening at the Lakeside Resort. Trouble is, the holidays … holidays are fast approaching, Jenny’s not begun to finalize plans, and she keeps running into roadblocks.
Stretched tight, Jenny scrambles to book a decent Santa Claus, a horse-drawn wagon for Currier and Ives-style sleigh rides, and the Christmas choirs she’s so enthusiastically described online. To complicate matters, Mama has a frightening fall, Charlotte and Ashe are at odds about their upcoming wedding, and Jenny’s getting the jitters about marrying and building a cabin with her fiancé, Luke.
When Jenny shares her fears with Luke and her best girlfriends, she starts to feel the wonder of the season. Friends gift her a new vintage camper, Mama and Landis make a startling announcement, and friends and family pitch in to help her deliver the dazzling Christmas she’d promised. Jenny realizes she already has all she needs for a magical Christmas and a happy future.
With cozy romance, classic carols, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and happily ever afters, Christmas joy is always on tap at The Lakeside Resort.

“Mistletoe at Lakeside Resort” is a sweet and charming Christmas Novella that left me feeling happy, joyous and looking forward to the holidays.
The way Susan Schild describes Jenny and Luke’s adventures, I could picture myself being right there with them in one of the cabin’s on Heron Lake.
It’s definitely a wonderful place to spend the Holidays!
I have enjoyed all of Susan Schild’s books, and I cannot wait for the next.
I received this ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
I enjoyed reading this short novel which would bridge me into the next story with Jenny and Luke. Reading all the books in the series helps me to relate to the characters and enjoy getting to know them better. The communication and support among the lady characters was well done. Jenny was mentoring Alice in her pregnancy. Jenny’s Mama was helping Jenny with her doubts about her wedding. Charlotte was blessed with Jenny interfering with the dress for Charlottes wedding. The Christmas spirit was also a great part of the story. I would recommend this book.
This is the third book in this series about the Lakeshore Resort. It was fun to revisit the friends I made in the other books. This one focused on the time leading up to Christmas and I so enjoyed finding out how Jenny was going to get people to come and stay in her cabins on Heron Lake. I loved how the ideas came together and wish the Lakeside Resort was real. It was also fun to watch Jenny get cold feet about her own wedding in the future with Luke and to watch her play matchmaker once again. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I received the ARC from the author and this is my honest review. I absolutely love this series. This is the third book in the series and it follows the love story between Jenny an Luke, her mother and her husband and her best friend Charlotte. The action around the campground may slow down most places during the holiday season, but for Jenny she always has something up her sleeve to build up the reputation of her business. As always this is a feel good read, that seems to bring out the very best in others. I would definitely recommend this book any anyone
It’s hard to find a more romantic setting for Christmas than the cozy cabins at the Lakeside Resort! Sprinkle in some romance, a wedding, and the cutest animals ever and you have a perfect holiday story! Jenny and Luke, along with their friends and family, fill the pages with warmth, heart, and humor. And now I’m thinking I need a cute little red and white trailer to take on a road trip!
I absolutely loved reading Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort. It definitely put me in the holiday spirit! I would LOVE to visit the Lakeside Resort during the holidays. Susan’s writing is so vivid that you feel like you are right there with all the wonderful characters she brings to life. Her characters are so real and relatable . I can’t wait for the next book in the series and what adventures lie ahead.
What else can I say but more please. This series should d be . Longer. Love the characters and plots. I could read these for years.
Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort
This novella is as rich and full as any novel! Susan Schild is even better at drawing us in and keeping us dying to know what happens next.
If you’ve met and gotten to know Jenny and her entourage at the Lakeside Inn, you’ll delight in what they’re up to now. And the setting just gets more detailed and interesting with each new book.
Jenny and company are more fully drawn than ever and their thoughts and actions are natural without being predictable.
It’s fun to read her latest and just as much fun to watch Schild grow as a writer.
The only thing that disappoints in Susan Schild’s Lakeside Resort Series is that once you finish one you have to wait for the next one to be released. As a fan who reads at least a book a day (thank you Amazon kindle where I need to have an automatic withdrawal from my checking account), I wait with bated breath for the next in the series.
The latest and greatest in this series is Mistletoe At the Lakeside Resort and it does not disappoint. Again, a story rich in Family, Friends, Fiancé and Fun is filled with the magic of the holiday season, of weddings in the present and the hope of those to come.
I hesitate to give to many details which would be spoilers; however, Jenny Beckett is faced with sorting out what is making her put off her own wedding plans with her fiancé Luke, who she met previously in the delightful Frank’s Friendly Hardware, who she loves without reservation but a previous marriage and disastrous engagement makes her “gun shy”. As well Luke wants to build them a dream cabin as they will have outgrown The Dogwood and Jenny balks.
Jenny’s best friend Charlotte is having her own issues planning a wedding to her fiancé Ashe dealing not only with her own self-image but that of the witch of a wedding dress store owner. Jenny steps in you’ll love how she saves the day and deals with the body shamer.
Jenny’s mom and stepdad have to make difficult life decisions as Jenny has finally come to grips with the legacy left to her by her father.
Susan Schild has done it again bringing in the joys of the Christmas season with the festivities planned for the resort. Susan brings in the local community and you feel a part of it all. It is superbly edited, totally appropriate and just a delight to read and enjoy. You don’t want to miss this chapter in the Lakeside Resort saga.
I can’t wait for June and the Wedding at Lakeside Resort.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review. This series just keeps getting better and better!!! Love Susan’s portrayal of the animals in the books and the plots are magnificent. I hate to see the book come to an end but I know there will be another soon. Keep writing (please) Susan Schild. Enjoy!
Love this book and the series. Jenny is so independent but realizes that she is ready to make a committed to Luke. Love all the characters especially Charlotte as she is a great friend and always there. Would love to spend time at the resort! Great book!
Once again, Susan Schild does not disappoint. “Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort” is guaranteed to put the reader in the Christmas spirit. The setting is beautiful. The relationships of friendship, love, and family are always inspirational. This is a book that you makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Make sure to add this book to your Christmas reading list. You will love it!!
Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort is a wonderful, warm and wholesome book especially for the holidays. A great stocking stuffer! The characters are fun, entertaining and likable. I highly recommend this third in a trilogy although it certainly can stand alone. Diane Oberlies
Girlfriends if you have not read Susan Schild’s Lakeside Resort series…you are missing out on this journey with Jenny and her Lakeside Resort that her Daddy left her. She has fallen love with Luke but she still hasn’t made any wedding plans. Now Christmas is coming and she needs to make plans for a Christmas to remember for all the guests who book one of her cute cabins! I just smiled when I read the last line of this book and wished I could book a cabin for Christmas.
As I have found with all the stories I have read by Susan Schild, as soon as I start reading, I do not want to stop.
What a wonderful story about a mid aged woman finding her turn love. Learning to give and take to have a life together. Thanks to her father who was not there that much while she was growing up leaving her the Lakeside Resort, after his passing. She has found a new life and is learning as she goes, with the help of many.
In this story she has come to learn to love her step father and find a new relationship with her mom.
MISTLETOE AT THE LAKESIDE RESORT is the third installment to Susan Schild’s LAKESIDE RESORT series. This is a short Christmas novella which is extremely cozy and heartwarming. Fans will be enthralled with the charming characters of Jenny and Luke in this gentle and romantic story. They are engaged to be married, but things are a little off for Jenny, and she can’t seem to figure out what’s troubling her. So much needs to be done planning their wedding and honeymoon, and the holidays are fast approaching. Jenny is also trying to figure out how to keep her new business afloat thinking of ways to attract customers to stay at the cabins her father left her on Heron Lake during the holiday season which she and Luke beautifully renovated.
Schild has a warm style of writing and shows the humanness of Jenny’s character. According to USA Today, “Bestselling author Susan Schild writes heartwarming novels about heroines over age forty having adventures, falling in love and finding their happily ever afters”. I’m extremely charmed by her books, and you’ll want to read this cozy series along with her next installment which will be out in June 2020.
Susan Schild does not disappoint! Her new book “Mistletoe At the Lakeside Resort” was such a nice visit with friends and I really enjoyed catching up with them. Susan has an easy way of developing her characters so that you feel like you know them. I love living in their world if only for a little while.
This is the third story in her series with the fourth one coming out in June of 2020.
So, if you haven’t read the Lakeside Resort series yet, you have time to get them read before “A Wedding At the Lakeside Resort” comes out. Who doesn’t love a wedding?
You will love these characters and want to follow then for a long time coming.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This novella is the third book in the Lakeside Resort series. The cabins are now ready for occupancy, and all seems to be going well at the resort. Jenny is still not sure about getting married, and she worries about a lull in reservations between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is a well written quick read. The characters are very well defined and lovable, and I want to visit the Lakeside Resort for a week! I love that the author threw in a little bit of history about tobacco auctions. I just hope this isn’t the last book in the series. I’m not ready to let go of these wonderful characters! I highly recommend this book, and this series. I received an advanced review copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
It got me in the mood for Christmas –
A lovely little book, making me want it to be December so we could start celebrations, too!
I would have loved it to be twice as long, now I was finished way too quickly!
Author Mariah Stewart has penned a wonderful women’s fiction novel with GOODBYE AGAIN. The main character, Liddy Bryant, is in her early 60’s, divorced, and grieving the loss of her only child, Jessica, to suicide four years ago. Presently, Liddy is given a new outlook in her life when she purchases an old bookstore and remodels the interior and exterior then opens the doors with great success. Her best friends from childhood help and support her—Emma and Maggie—as well as Grace, Maggie’s daughter. Liddy is re-acquainted with handsome contractor, Tuck Shelby, and feels a spark inside that she hasn’t felt in years.
Liddy’s emotions over opening the bookstore transfer well through the author’s pen. I was amped up along with Liddy and all her friends. I enjoyed how the author added suspense (Dylan), history, conflict (Jim, the ex), and romance (Tuck), and blended it all so well. I initially felt the first few chapters were slow, but the pace soon picked up and soared from then on. It’s heartbreaking once the truth about Jessica’s suicide comes out, yet I enjoyed all the ways Liddy and her friends kept her memory and talents alive through Liddy’s bookstore. I was also pleased with all the happy endings and positive outlooks to satisfy readers. Bravo!
I honestly reviewed an unedited digital arc provided by NetGalley and Montlake. All opinions are my own. Thank you.
