I absolutely love the idea behind these books and this first book was an amazing start to the new year. Anthea and her friend Pip are hysterical and I was laughing and enjoying myself so much that I was done before I knew it. this is the perfect book if you want something quick and fun and it did not disappoint.
I AM LOVING PIP! she is the best friends’ bestie! I love the way the men will be referred to in this series. I’m thinking this is going to be a fun series. Mr Uno is a great intro to the Mister Mister series! Can’t wait for the next Mister
Mister Uno is a short, sweet read as writer Anthea starts her new journey to discover what makes men tick for her new article.
Men are a mystery and she will be bringing us a new man every month. This looks like a fun series!
point! Athena has come up with the task of writing an article about the daiting scene more specifically on men and how they think and feel.
This first book is about Mister. U Athena meets him and is very attracted to him. But as attracted to him as she is she musy do her job. Mister. U makes a very interesting candidate so to say! Things come to light and things are learned!
What a fantastic way to start off the series I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Love this short story,
..how it all started with a Dare..
Anthea, is reporter, looking for a story…
…this months victim, I mean headline she called him MR UNO…
This short story is sassy, cute, and funny..
So I’m not sure how to rate this book since it’s part one of twelve novelettes. The premise is a bit tricky to understand. The heroine is a columnist for a magazine and she is doing a piece in which she will date a different guy for twelve months. Yes there is going to be twelve men in her life. I’m not sure where the author is going with this. I’ll be honest, while this read like a romcom, I’m not sure how I feel about the heroine dating so many men. However, since this is the first time I read anything like this, I want to stick it out and see what the author has planned. I will say that I hope there won’t be a huge wait in between books.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
When your friends know that you can never resist a dare….
…and lucky for Anthea, while they know her weakness, they also have her back. So while out celebrating the loss of her job due to the lack of inspiring column articles, said friends come up with an idea and dare her to date 12 men, in 12 months, no names. Her written column can tell those hapless single women out there just what men are thinking.
There’s got to be more to it than that! And there is – it’s called alcohol, because no great story starts with salad. And trying to pitch a story to one’s former boss at 2am in the morning, then displaying the contents of ones stomach will never end in an easy assignment, so the parameters he sets for her series are somewhat narrowed.
Anthea does manage to stick to the script, and she meets her Mister Uno. Trouble is, human nature has a knack of not following the rules because we are after all, human.
I love the premise of this series, and look forward to how Anthea is going to negotiate this dating minefield. I always know I’m going to enjoy anything written by Belle Brooks, and while there is a lot packed into the words of this short story, the end came very quickly. Now to wait for Mister Duo. 4 Stars.
A quick, light hearted read. I don’t know where Belle Brooks gets her inspiration but it’s something to embrace, that’s for sure!
In this, the first of a twelve part series, we meet Andrea a struggling magazine reporter looking for a new angle.
With the help of some friends, an idea is formed and the first stage implemented.
In this very short episode Belle has managed to establish a connection between the main character and the reader and leave us panting for more.
I can’t wait to experience the shenanigans with Andrea and Mister Dos!
It is what it is. It’s a short read and a bloody good one at that. I loved Anthea and Mister U. Belles writing is just fantastic in everything she releases. I can’t wait for the next
I really liked this story, it was short sweet and worth the read.
As this was a short we found out a bit about our main character Athena who is going to be joy to read more about as the series continues.
I loved the male character is this book but trying not to get to invested as we have 11 more to meet. This one was rich a bit of a mystery and I quite liked him.
I am looking forward for the next book and to see who we meet next.
Don’t forget this is a short story! I did & was disappointed bc I was looking for more to it (lol). This short story has lots of potential but I felt it was a little (I’m having problems really putting my review into words) there really wasn’t enough detail for me. The writing is great. The story line is good, and I’m curious how this is going to turn out. I’m looking forward to the next book & hoping they get a little longer. Just as I was being drawn in more, it ended.
Mister Uno: A Short Story Series
by Belle Brooks
Anthea is given an ultimatum come up with a new idea for your column by the end of the day or you will be fired! Stuck with writers block she is running out of time when her friends help her come up with an idea. Date one man a month for a year, but there’s a twist no names and they can’t know what she’s doing.
Mister Uno took me about a hour to read. It was a quick fun read. I just wish it was a little bit longer and took her first tryst a wee bit farther. It just felt like it ended abruptly. I’m looking forward to her journey with Mister Dos!
I loved this short read!!!! It was really great!!!! Anthea and Pip were great!!!! I can’t wait to read more of these short stories
Mr Uno is the first of a twelve part series by Belle Brooks. It was fun and fast short story and not your usual love story as it doesn’t have the expected ending. It’s more of a journey through one woman’s view of dating in the 21st century. The heroine isn’t expecting to meet Mr Right or is she?
Anthea writes for a local newspaper and needs to come up with a fresh idea for her column or she’s out of a job. After tossing ideas with her bestie she decides on what she hopes will be a career-saving suggestion. 12 different men, 12 different cities, 12 different dates and no real names to be shared.
Are men really from Mars. Anthea hopes to find out and by the end of the year she will let her readers know.
Date 1: Mr Uno.
She picks him by chance but Mr Uno but this hot, sexy dark haired man just oozes sex appeal and Anthea is drawn to his swarthy good looks. He turns out to be even more fun than she expected him to be. But, it was a one time date, can she really tell what type of man he is from that?
How will she feel about Mr Dos when she stumbles across him? What if he’s the guy she’s been searching for? Will all 12 dates be completed?
Guess we’ll have to stay tuned and find out.
Are all men from mars?
I am excited to start this series of stories. Anthea Links, a columnist is embarking on a series of stories. One man per month, none can be the same to see what drives them and if their thoughts and ideals differ that much from Anthea and other women. I know this is going to be a great series given that Mister Uno was cute, funny and fascinating. Looking forward to more….
I read the blurb and was so intrigued. What an interesting concept. I like the idea of this story and as I went along it go more interesting however when I fully immersed myself it ended.
I felt there needed to more. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this series plays out.
It’s a fast paced short story, but I wanted more and a happy ending. The story line was fun and it was over just when least expected it. Looking forward to the next one to see where it goes..or does it come full circle in the end. Belle will keep us guessing.
This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. This is the first book in a series of 12 short stories. I read this book in one sitting.
Anthea is a column writer who is in desperate need of a new idea. So in need she has one night to come up with something or her job is toast. While out celebrating the loss of her job due to the lack of inspiring column articles, said friends come up with an idea and dare her to date 12 men, in 12 months, no names. Her written column can tell those hapless single women out there just what men are thinking.
I’m already looking forward to the next book Mister Dos.
3 stars
Mister Uno definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I started reading it at 1pm and finished at 1:20 and that included a trip to the restroom.
The concept of a journalist dating one man a month for a year was intriguing, I envisioned sort of a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibe but honestly the best thing about this short story was Anthea’s inner monologue and her BFF. I didn’t even feel a spark of chemistry between Anthea and Mister Uno in this ultra short story. One kiss was apparently shared but we only learn of it in her article.
Anthea could be an intriguing, funny character but I’m just not sure how much of a connection I can make with a character if the entire book is less than 10 (SHORT) chapters. This wasn’t quite my cup of tea but I’ll have to see if Mister Dos causes me to stick around for the whole twelve.

*I received a free copy of Mister Uno from Belle Brooks. This has in no way influenced my review which is honest and unbiased.*
Mister Uno was short, fun, and sweet. I look forward to reading more – but as it was a novella, I felt like I still needed more once I arrived at the end.
The story is well-written, and the series has a lot of potential.
